  1. I'm really wondering if mine was mislabeled, or if my chemistry is really this wonky. I get dark brown sugar (which is possible I guess, reading the description), and some type of dark spicey thing. When it first went on I smelled spice over dark floral, so I guess this is just... how I wear the Ghastly Garden.

  2. I only tried this because it was a frimp, and I try everything that passes through my hands. I don't even sniff vials anymore, I just put them on and sniff over time. Nevertheless, I found this one scary, and almost didn't try it.

Strangely enough - I liked this one. Its strange and evocative. As I turn most of what I wear sweet, this was a sweetish, smoky scent that really begged to be sniffed at =) I won't buy a bottle, but I think I'm keeping the imp!

  3. my keyboard broke last night, so I couldn't post, BUT I did do a lot of poking around to help =)

    Ode On Melancholy (Keats)

La Belle Dame Sans Merci (Keats)

    Bien Loin d'ici (Baudelaire)

  4. The first time I tried this, I dismissed it as somewhat plasticky and unremarkable. I traded it off, and have been wanting to retry ever since. I recently acquired a brand new imp, and this time the experience was completely different. I smell vanilla, not in a foody way. I smell linen underneath it, which I love. It's also vaguely spiced, without being spicy. It also seems to have a nice throw on me, I could smell that spot on my arm all evening!

    Re-decision: very much enjoy =)

  5. I was scared of it at first sniff - all lavender and what has to be fennel. Very herby. On, the immediate wet stage - its very strong lavender and I was discouraged. As it dries, I get a very strong Dorian vibe, then a throw back to the lav/fennel - then the final stage where i can distinctly smell Dorian and Snake Oil, and I love it =) I can still smell hints of the lav/fennel under - but the dorian/snake oil is stronger.

Very Nice. Very glad I have a bottle. Quit waffling and Go get a bottle =)

  6. I originally tried this and wasn't bowled over, and recently tried it again to give it a better shot.

Firstly: it strikes me as a colder Lyonesse. The vanilla base here smells exactly the same to my nose.

Secondly: there's a pure powder stage on my skin. I didn't make it past this point previously.

Lastly: there is a cold, almost wet (guessing this is the stony part) to this that is very very intriguing.

Overall: It shifts between almost entirely vanilla powder and this cold almost wet vanilla that is truly lovely. I'm just not sure I can put up with the powder. Incidentally, I have the same problem with Lyonesse, but something else in there anchors it to my skin better.

  7. This was dusty, almost cedar wood when I first put it in. After it dried, the musk came out and the wood behaved better. I could *almost* smell the paper too. But the dry version on me was almost a cinnamon, light musky, wood.

  8. Each bottle of Chaos Theory is truly unique, a fragrant fractal, and exercise in the joy of chance and uncertainty! Each is a one-of-a-kind, utterly random combination of scents, the composition of which is based on whim, mood and gut instinct.

    MCCCLI (1351)

This was my second and last Chaos bottle. If it was still up, I'd be tacking on onto every order =)

bottle: unknown plant, not exactly floral - maybe some aquatic? if so its light

wet: unknown green floral - Dandelion maybe? This reminds me some of the Rappaccini Garden stuff - Sundew. I'm sniffing Sundew and Schoolhouse to see if its similar to either of these, because that's what came to mind. I wish I still had Roadhouse to test side by side too.

drying: Very fresh, clean, sharp green/yellow. I'm really liking this, but I can't pick out the notes. Something sweet underneath. I do think it's similar to Schoolhouse without the woody/balsam part. Extremely fresh green, not quite sticky - not F5 fresh though, this is sharp and definitely plant material. There's a sweet note under it that I haven't picked out yet, maybe the more it dries, the more I will smell of it.

AFTER this dried, I could tell more. I think it's got beeswax or something similar - I think that's why I thougth Sundew, because its sweet and almost creamy, but still very plant based. It still has something green in it, and maybe a floral underneath. So here's my breakdown:

Sundew (sticky fresh) meets Schoolhouse (minus the balsam) meets Ichabod Crane (minus the cream): heavy creamy sweet beeswax, sharp green, soft white floral under

  9. If this lasted longer on me, I would already own a bottle.

I love the clean almost laundry scents, and this is one of them. It's a very clean fresh sunshiney floral that doesn't smell exactly like... flowers. It's like sunshine and almost sticky sweet, almost but not quite soapy. I like it quite a bit, except that it doesnt last but maybe 20 minutes on my skin =(

  10. I'm guessing it's the benzoin that is bad on me? Something is sharp and almost menthol, with a slightly woody tinge. I could smell the coconut when this was wet, but now its just.... odd. and bad. and odd.

  11. I tend to overdo my suggestions, but I enjoy this =)

so, suggestions for the gangrel/raven by reason:

    the name:

Black Lace, The Raven, Torture Queen, La Belle Dame Sans Merci, Omen, Bloodlust, Nemesis

    the concept:

Blood, Blood Amber, Umbra, Darkness, Haunted, Thanatopsis, Kitsune-Tsuki, Phobos, Oya, Thanatos, Alecto

    the feel/scent:

Black Opal, Black Tower, Lurid, Crossroads, Niflheim, Gaueko,

  12. There is a strong semblance to White Rabbit (which I loved btw). This one is a stronger version of that though. I didn't smell any tea or pepper. I did get a very creamy sweet that alternated over what had to be wool, and then lily, and then combined by the end. This took about three hours. It's still very soft on my hand now, very understated and pretty. I'm debating a bottle, but will have to test it side by side with the Rabbit first to be sure.

  13. Considering this is the thickest, most foody scent I've tried on - It's very funny that it's called Drink Me. This was rich rich butter on me - I don't even know how to categorize what I smelled other than butter. Well, I can say I didn't smell turkey or pineapple or cherry. I definitely got butter, and maybe toffee, custard and the tart shell. I wonder how close that desc is to reality?

  14. I thought I had already reviewed this....

I really like this one, even though it is very soft on me. It's blanket comfort, all sweet and whatnot. I smell cherry (but not the evil kind), lavender, and maybe white musk. It is very sweet and powdery, in a good way. It smells girly on me, which is weird given the name, and I don't get the rosewood, or the rose, at all. I was worried, because rose goes sour on me, but this is very pretty.

My original description at trying to explain this to someone was that it smells like cottony blankets, but that's nowhere near correct. It is blankety somehow though.

  15. I saw this thread and really wanted to recommend some favorites that sprang to mind immediately, but really ya'll have already covered it all! Ivanushka is my favorite =)

Wolf Moon might be a little animally, but really its just slushy snow with an animal name =) 04 anyway

I havent tried them, but I hear that Hunter Moon and Buck Moon are very animal.

You could say Schrodingers Cat embodies the multiple personality of cats

Dove's Heart really did have the calm, pretty, "feel" of a dove - it felt like that sound they make

Wolf's Heart didn't give me the animal feeling, just the name =(

Hetairae made me feel very slinky, catlike

  16. This was disturbingly CLEAN on my skin. I didn't have anyone smell of it to be sure, but all I smelled was the crystalline Egyptian musk, and the hazy opium. This was like crystal on me, very pretty. It made me wonder if I just don't smell musk, and I'm afraid to actually wear this - in case others smell the dreaded civet when I don't. I may try it and have someone sniff me :P

(eta: much much later -- Im still afraid to even test this one, but I have the URGE to retest because of the smell I remember. I may have to keep an imp around after all)
