    Kitty

exactly exactly what I wanted this one to smell like. Softly strawberry, sophisticated touch of floral, slightly powdery french vanilla. It isn't candy strawberry, or fake smelling to my skin. I wouldnt say its a floral first, but the floral makes this so pretty. Theres a lift to this that must be the bergamot. As it dries, Im getting more of the honey, so that I have a honeyed vanilla with a wisp of strawberry. Lovely.

    Ninon

The note list was so intriguing, I couldnt not order this little mystery. What I get on immediate application is: Smoky honey musk, tobacco leaf, lavender, golden amber. This is golden, dry and golden. I dont seem to get any rose or vanilla from this. Ill give it some time to see if I love it, but I dont NOT love it so far - so we will see! eta: the dry down is the stunner on this one. Be sure to wait for it!

    Celeste

Oh Celeste. I bought this immediately, and wished for a dry sexy vanilla, like the slightly husky voice that is so irresistibly sexy. On first application, the saffron is strong, almost leathery as some have noted. But it calms down. The vanilla bean is the almost boozy, dry vanilla bean that I love. The orchid doesn't make this smell floral at all to my nose, but may be giving the sophisticated grace to what would otherwise be raw sexuality. The orris I cannot specifically pick out, but does not smell violet, which I was worried about. This is not super sweet, girly, or foody at all. This is lovely love love lust.

    Beatrice

I managed to snag a partial bottle of this and love to try the older blends, so here goes! Definitely floral, but a vanilla floral. White Rose and carnation for sure, maybe other florals too. A little powdery, but not in a bad way to my nose - maybe amber? creamy spicy floriental

    Aphrogenes

First off, I Love this one. But it is very similar to Black Pearl on my skin. Almost identical, but maybe a bit sweeter. Its that gorgeous coconut/orris/iris/white musky thing that I love, but better =) BTW - I dont smell specifically honey or cherry blossom here. Black Pearl - Coconut, Florentine iris, hazelnut and opalescent white musk. Aphrogenes - Orris root, iris, white honey, white sandalwood, coconut, and cherry blossom.

    Pine and Evergreen goodness

Slobbering Pine! Very nice hot weather wearable pine, cold with no florals that I got

    Philommeides

oh my! I wanted this one because of the peach wine. I definitely get that wet, but its so much prettier dry. The violet comes into play (which I was actualyl afraid of, as I'm not a fan), but apparently violet plus peaches = win. Its slightly woody, slightly violet, and very peachy wine. I don't get any carnation or lemon (thank goodness), and I think think no orange, though it may play into the peach. This would be great for a sophisticated summer scent =) Keeper, and need more to fill my very low partial.

    The Lilac Wood

Wow this needs more love and reviews. This is a gorgeous gorgeous lilac floral. Its almost a pure lilac, but very outdoorsy, rather than a spray of lilac air freshener. This is really really pretty, and lilac is maybe my favorite flower scent ever. There might be jsut a bit of grass with this, maybe wood underneath, I get the coolness that suggests shadows. But this isn't a complicated blend. I mostly get cool lilac =)

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Any ideas for matches to Donna Karan Cashmere Luxe? Sandalwood, Suede, Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Orris, Amber, Vanilla, Musk
  11. Humbug and Pink Mood are my two favorites, but I've only recently discovered my love for the anise =)

Dark Chocolate, Lime and Chocolate Mint

wet, this is a strong mint/lime -- had me more in mind of the Tokyo Stomps and Snowblinds than the Chocolate boxes, though I could still smell a hint of chocolate underneath. dry, this is mostly chocolate (though not the heavy kind) and mint, with the barest hint of lime

    Sleeping Nymph and Satyrs

wet this does have that same balsam as U, but it smooths out and blends in as it dries. Wet, I wasnt sure I liked this. I agree with masculine and feral. I expected something more like woody/honeyed/vanilla/rose -- but that balsam note is stronger, maybe when combined with the ambergris. Its much prettier when dry - though it is still different than expected. I'll hang on to it for a little while in hopes that it ages to a thing of beauty =)

    Khrysee

I have an interesting relationship with Khrysee. I go between "love this so much" and "wait, what's that?". I love the vanilla amber, I think its the orange blossom that sometimes goes a little off. Its maybe a little sharp or too much of a perfumed assault or something. But the stage at which I feel "love this so much" really is gorgeous. Its a dreamy amber and vanilla haze, what I swear is a skin musk, and a floral orange floating over the top.

    Meadow scents!

Garden Path with Chickens is an amazing grassy/meadowy scent, but alas not impable. Also the Phoenix in Spring you might like, but again....
  16. Id say try Sachs. I didnt like my new bottle, but at least a year on it makes it into a gorgeous, very light herbal vanilla.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

best BPAL coffee for me, and Ive tried a ton: Eggnog Latte.

    The Last Unicorn

This is a very pretty, wispy and ethereal floral. If I had to give it a color, it is pale lilacs and green. The white chocolate did not make it foody at all, just creamy instead of crystalline the way you would think the rest of the notes would be. The lettuce stands out when its wet, but more as a watery green (not aquatic though!). I didnt get any coconut (which is usually bad on me anyway!). What I smell predominately: lettuce, lilac, iris/orris, and the creamy hint of white chocolate.

    Sparkling Apple Cider

I was really hoping for Champagne and apples, but I dont realyl pick up a champagne scent here. Not really a boozy scent either, but it is fizzy. I get a fizzy, fuzzy, apple scent. Im going to test it against my other apples to see which one I need to keep, but this doesnt stand out the way I wanted it to =(

    Champagne And Opium

As a lover of both champagne and (bpal!) opium I knew I had to have this bottle. I was very lucky to find a pick up =) So, not having given this time to rest, I ripped open the package and applied lightly The champgne is strongest when its wet, with a hint of the smoky opium I love from Mum Moon. (there it is complicated with many other things, including red musk, which I dont paritcularly like), but here the opium is glorious. The champgne fades out for me, and the scent warms to my skin, very hazy, but not exactly a soft opium scent. If you love the opium note, you NEED this bottle. It is the best opium I've found outside of Mum Moon =) If you love the champagne note, keep in mind that is not the strongest part of the scent (at least on my skin)

    something like neil morris northwoods?

the only two I linked to you that can't buy from the lab site are the two Wolf Moons. The rest you should be able to get samples of from the lab, or bottles if you're brave And I agree, Nocnitsa sounds like it might be perfect =)

    something like neil morris northwoods?

I had to look it up since I havent tried it, and here are some notes and descriptions (mainly from me, but maybe they will come in handy for someone else too) notes: basil blossom, heather, fir needle, sweet pea, fig, cut grass, cedar, oak, redwood, myrrh, labdanum, oakmoss, and vetiver. The reviews of this fragrance are earthy, sparkling green, grassy, slightly wet/snow, woody, woodsy My recommendations to try out: Nocnitsa - this one may be your best bet -- a lightless fir wood, nighttime air, wet forest mosses and upturned earth. Niflheim - not floral to my nose, despite the desc - Dark, damp blossoms winding through an impenetrable, murky gloom. Ulalume - leaves, wet, earthy, not so much on the woods or fir though Black Forest - great foresty, not so much on the earthy though Wolf Moon 04 - green woodsy, lighter, more slushy snow -- not so much on wood though Wolf Moon 07 - very green woodsy - not so much on wood though Nephilim - Holy frankincense and hyssop in union with earthy fig, defiled by black patchouli and vetiver, with a chaotic infusion of lavender, cardamom, tamarind, rosemary, oakmoss and cypress.
