  1. I have noticed that where I apply the oils (neck, by ears, cleavage, wrist) the skin is very dry. Some of the oils make me itch, mainly the aquatic ones, so I avoid them. Does anyone else get dry skin from the oils?

Would you suggest mixing the oils with odorless moisturizer?

    Thanks,

    Denise

There is a thread here about mixing BPAL in lotions and other things. I hope that helps!

My skin gets dry when I wash it too much between testing scents :P I want to find a way to make a nice semi-solid oil mix to put BPAL in (like Palmers Coco Butter) so maybe I will hit that thread too :D

  2. This was great! This is the only scent that smells rose that I've liked. My mom and my sister both liked this one also, which is a plus. I didn't really pick up on any specific notes but rose, and it was a very familiar yet unusual rose smell - something I know because I've sniffed them before, but I don't run across them very often. Delightful :P

  3. I had thought I would really like this one from the reviews here.

I don't really care for it because 1., it's very faint smelling on me, and 2., it smells kind of genaric (what little I can smell). It doesn't have any notes that I can identify. Or my nose is broken today! It's very strange that I can't smell much of anything.

  4. This is my favorite BPAL so far. I'm afraid I'm going to run out of the Imp. Prior to this scent I didn't think I'd ever be interested in bottles. Now I am!!!!

This is the only scent that I didn't write about in my journal entry, because I put it on after a shower and I didn't bring my journal down to the bathroom :P

At first it smelled a little more complex than it does now. My dad sniffed when I walked through the room and I said "Does it smell good?" to which I got an emphatic nod. I had already decided this was a beautiful scent and the fact that my family likes it only makes it better, since we do live in the same house!!

Right now after 4 or 5 hours I have a faint vanilla smell with a little bit of floral mixed in. It's very warm smelling, and it hasn't gone powdery like Regan and Lyonesse seemed to. Yummy yummy :D

I'm going to be looking for more of this.

  5. Mmm...in the Imp and wet it smelled like vanilla and buttered popcorn. Kind of like buttery popcorn with a sugary scent, but not caramel.

It's luminescent, round smell to me. Not "bright," but colorful. I'm not sure how to describe it.

Dry it's still smelling like buttered popcorn, not as much vanilla. I applied at about 3pm and haven't reapplied but now the scent is pretty subtle. This is the first perfume, however, that my mom mentioned she smelled. She knew I was getting samples in the mail (she doesn't know how many!!). It's got to have a lot of throw though because she wouldn't have picked up on it otherwise.

  6. I'm having a problem. I would like to try and find (if possible) a carrier oil that is reasonably unscented but THICK.

I love using the 1ml rollerballs so I can keep them in my purse but there are just a handful of scents that the oils are thin enough that they tend to seep out around the caps. I would like to find something that is either unscented or has very little scent so I could add 1 or 2 drops to those imps that needed it to keep them from leaking....that's the idea anyway.

Does anyone know enough about carrier oils to have an idea? Most of the ones I've been able to find are either unscented but too thin or heavy and stinky :P

I would love any ideas that people might have that have more experiance in carrier oils and the likes.

    Thanks!

    Laura

I don't know if castor oil has a strong smell but if I recall correctly it sure is thick!

  7. I really want this one to work!

First off it smelled kind of masculine, then it smelled kind of fruity and spicy. And perfumey :P

It smells like an old wooden chair covered with red velvet that has cinnamon sprinkled on it.

I'm afraid it's going to go away in the swap pile. I'll give it one more go another day I guess.

  8. This is my first taste (smell!) of BPAL!

In the Imp: Medicinal with a really sharp note. Pumpkin scent was present when I opened it up though.

Wet: still a little medicinal, for some reason I smell a minty smell. That must be my imagination :P Or some "minty" like note that I can't yet identify.

Dry: Really pumpkiny, all the sharpness is gone. This is so NOT a spring scent, but I can see it being really fitting in the fall. It made me think "October." I really don't like that it smells like a candle.

I liked it better when I reapplied it a few hours later (it was nearly gone) but I think I'll be waiting till cooler weather to wear this.
