Really? Cool! Am trying to teach everyone at the lab Nella's language, which is a mix of Armenian and RussianI can speak a bit of a strange mixture of Russian (took it in high school and college but don't remember much) and Croatian (my grandparents were all born in Croatia and my parents were both very fluent in it, so I heard it constantly when I was growing up - I can sing a few Croatian folk songs in the native tongue, as well as "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain," which my aunt insisted was an old Croatian folk song and NOT written by Willie Nelson ), so maybe when the store opens and I (hopefully) come down for the grand opening, we can drive everybody crazy with two made up Eastern European languages!

Have a great and well-earned vacation!
Damn, if I only lived in LA, I'd be begging you guys for that job...
-
Hey girl! I think you'd like Phantom and Scheherazade, too. I'm all out of Scheherazade but I'll let you smell my Phantom when we meet up (I'll call ya tomorrow).
-
Now it's time to chill out, relax, and congratulate yourselves on a job well done.
I just have one thing to add:
Imp prices reduced for the time being! There is a God(dess), and her name is Beth. I'll be scrambling for the rest of the week to decide what needs to be sampled immediately. Unemployed or not, I can't NOT take advantage of this.
-
Well, I guess one of the few benefits to being unemployed is that I *can't* jump the gun and order any of these AMAZING potions right now... but Queen of Sheba sounds like something that I will be falling in love with at first sniff, and I am pissing myself over the description of Roadhouse. Brilliant stuff there.

Emilia - if you are familiar with the scent of Coco Chanel (not the new Coco Mademoiselle one, the classic Coco), Scheherazade kind of reminds me of that without the chemically smell. It's DIVINE. And if you don't like it, I'll buy it off of you
-
Scherezade is wonderful, too. If I remember, it's saffron, sandalwood, and red musk, with no patchouli. It is spicy and warm and very, very sexy.

Besides the ones already mentioned, Velvet has a very subtle chocolate scent (I don't like chocolate smells as perfumes but I LOVE Velvet), Katharina has a lovely apricot top note, and Tarot: The Moon has a great subtle coconutty fragrance. Siren also has a great apricot/ginger scent that's not too sweet. I love ALL of these fragrances.
Also, if you like Snake Oil, you really should try Dana O'Shee... another favorite of mine. It's gentler but still has that foody twist.

Before Beth got Crazy Busy, she told me she was exploring this theory that a person's moon sign has a lot to do with the scents they like.I think there's something to this theory... my Moon's in Capricorn, and I'm definitely attracted to deep, brooding scents. BUT my moon is in my 7th house (the "Libra" house) so they've got to be PRETTY deep brooding scents.
I would think a person's Venus placement would also influence scent preferences, since Venus shows us what we are attracted to aesthetically... my Venus is in Aries, and I do also like scents that scream "SMELL ME! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!" But since my Venus is in the 10th house (the "Capricorn" house), again, there's that draw to the deep and brooding.
-
Another indecisive Fish here... but first I want to say that I think it's FABULOUS that you and Dee are going this direction. Two amazingly gifted people creating something truly fabulous.
I'll try to keep this short by limiting it to scents that would compliment others:
Snake Oil
O
Spellbound
Water of Notre Dame
Vixen
Haunted
Venus
Sin
Hellcat
Hecate
Tarot: The Star
Harlot

Another vote for Water of Notre Dame. I had a shitty day, plus I'm tapering off my Ativan, and today I wore Water of Notre Dame, and I swear it made all the difference in the world. I was able to laugh off my worries, plus there's just something in that scent that makes me feel that eventually, all will be well in my world.
-
Ah, I knew I'd love this one before I even smelled it, just based upon the notes.
This is so deep, rich and warm. I can barely detect the rose and ylang-ylang, but I can tell they're there, because there's something that is softening the myrrh and dark musk. It's neither sweet nor violet-smelling on me... just warmth and richness. This is absolutely glorious.
-
I am shocked. Finally, a scent with both wine AND lotus that works on me!
Must be the fact that it's white wine rather than red (those turn sour on my skin). This is definitely not as sweet on me as it seems to be on others - there's no smell of Juicy Fruit, to be sure. The heliotrope seems to be the predominant note on my skin. The overall scent is very golden, but more of a warm golden than a sparkly, glittery golden, which is fine by me! It smells rich, clean, and warm, and just a bit powdery. Very feminine.
-
When I think of HIWTK, I immediately think of either O or Dana O'Shee... if you think they might be a bit too feminine for your friend, what about the single note of honey?
-
Sounds like things are finally starting to come together in a most positive way.
And nobody deserves it more than you and the rest of the lab!
-
I got the MMU Aloe Vera shower gel and body oil spray to wear with some of the more herbally Voodoo Blends (mainly Water of Notre Dame) and they work nicely together, the Aloe Vera is just a very clean, very subtle fresh herbal scent.
I also think Honey Drop works well with any of the honey-based BPALS.
Nancy mixed me a 50% Rosie Loves Vanilla/50% Ambre shower gel to use with Spellbound, works nicely.
-
Consider this a second vote for Water of Notre Dame... I also find Van Van very relaxing.
-
But I think I may order Libra or Venus next time. Venus sounds like it'll be great on me, even if I don't like it that much, and Libra might be ok, though I seem to remember it having musk.Venus is just... GORGEOUS. Seriously, it is one of the most exquisite fragrances I have ever smelled.
-
According to one of my essential oils books, coumarin is a by-product that is found in tonka bean, and has a hay-like fragrance.
No mention of helional.
-
Maybe a combination of O and Velvet, to add that chocolately note?
-
Vixen, Ravenous, Lust, and Sin. All four are absolutely gorgeous oils with patchouli in them that will not make you smell like a head shop or an extra in a Cheech and Chong movie. The patchouli just blends so wonderfully with the other elements of these oils. They're unabashedly sensuous and SEXY as hell.
-
I don't see why mixing an essential oil and a carrier oil in a vial should be a problem , fragrance companies do it all the time...
-
Could be the musk... amber isn't sharp, and you'd probably know if it was the rose you didn't like.
I love Spellbound, and another deep rosey scent that I love is Black Rose. Maybe that would work for you?

Oh, god, as somebody with Cancer rising, how could I NOT be obsessed with this idea. Plus, Luna and Tarot: The Moon are two of my favorite oils right now, I think Beth really knows her way around capturing Lunar essences. I am frightened at how spectacular these may be.
