  1. Oh my dear lord. OK I need a gallon drum of this. It's what I wanted from Pop-Out Eyeglasses and Vibrating Motel Bed. Light, lemony, fizzy soda goodness. Like a really good cocktail that's sooo balanced and refreshing it annihilates you if you're not careful. If you love 21, Shade, or any of the other Champagne blends... watch out, because I'mma be hoarding this one, dragon style.

  2. Fizzy pink grapefruit and (very) subtle peachy nectar sweetness. Super light and fresh, truly a very "pink" effervescent blend. As a pink grapefruit/peach/fruity/gourmand girl, I need a gallon drum of this now.

ETA: fade down is a nice gentle, sweet but not cloying, light skin musk reminiscent of Velvet Nudie. So far this scent is working on me from wet to dry!

So, I'm pretty excited about BOTH 13 Nights Halloween Swap and *also* a possible Weenie Switch Witch, but I might only have the resources for one or the other. So my question is: What is the likelihood that there's going to be a Hallowmas Switch Witch? It's my preference because of length and passion, but I definitely do NOT want to miss out on 13 Nights if it looks like there won't be a SW this year at this time.

Thoughts? Anyone who has inside knowledge???

I believe Coldfire is definitely planning one.

  4. In the vial: Soap.

On wet: Soap. Soapsoapsoapsoapsoapsoap. And a little bit of spicy radish dust. And just a hint of plastic diapers?

Drydown: What is that spicy, soapy radish flavor I keep feeling in my mouth? Oh, it’s a line of Doozers, marching dutifully through my nasal passages. This is… not working for me.

  5. In the decant: Wow, smells so sweet and pretty. Chocolate and vanilla together + fruit are definitely my thing! The more sweet and creamy the better, and this has a nice tartness from the fruit (quince is citrus, right?), where it starts smelling like creamy chocolate dipped citrus fruits. Just from sniffing, I sort of want a bottle already.

On wet: An immediate burst of creamy sweetness and tart tangy fruitiness. I like this very much. After a few moments the chocolate vanilla creamy yumminess starts to fade and there is a bit more sharp high-pitched fruit. I guess that’d be the quince, and the pear and fig starting to come out. It’s starting to smell a bit artificial on my skin now. :( I still like it, but I’m getting a hint of –dare I say it- potpourri? But it was so lovely in the vial! WTF, skin? This is why I need a scent locket.

Drydown: Potpourri/artificial fruit city. Ugh, I really hate when my skin does this. Must try scenting the clothes or something while I scheme a way to buy me a scent locket. Because the chocolate and vanilla creamy fruit stage was so, so nice! And totally gone now.

  6. What they said. Sweet, ripe, dripping honeydew melon, a bit of extra warm sweetness from the honey, and a bit of effervescence from what I'll assume are the green and golden musks. Pretty strong but I love true-to-life fruit smells and this fits the bill there. A very happy scent! I also love the bottle art, it's really beautiful despite the scrot-theme.

  7. In the imp: strawberry and chocolate powder?

On wet: Oh no, kind of sickening =/ Very wet, pollen-y florals. A bit of strong sweetness from the chocolate, honey and strawberry, coating the floral bouquet. Strong sweet sap and green grass of the kind that makes me feel sick.

Drydown (beginning stage): Thank goodness, the sweet sickly florals are starting to be anchored by the creamy, more neutral carnation. Still really floral and cloying.

Drydown (end stage): I’m glad that I’m smelling more carnation, against a creamy white chocolate background, but I don’t think this blend is for me. I think I might hate peony? Water Dragon made me feel sick too. And the lab’s strawberry note is often too cloying on me. Maybe I should try to locate a tester of Zarita the Doll Girl instead.

  8. In bottle: Strawberry Shisha. For anyone who's ever smoked hookah, I think it smells a lot like strawberry shisha.

On wet: Getting a very pink strawberry feeling, similar to what Strawberry Moon was for me, but the tobacco is definitely there.

Drydown is light and faint, and now I just smell the perfume I put on this morning instead of this. I tried it on at 6 at night, and I put on Glittering Apple of the Stars this morning before work. Pink Lace has skipped off!

As a sucker for hot pink things, I do love the label art, and I'll probably hold on to my bottle for now.

  9. In bottle - Flowers, but polite, restrained flowers.

On wet - More flowers. Soapy, but pretty! There's the carnation. And the lily - a true-to-life lily of the valley, sweet and delicate.

Drydown - A tiny, tiny bit of tangerine powder is hiding somewhere, under the floral bouquet of lily and carnation. Still waiting for the green tea to peek its head out! But this is fresh and floral, and I can see wearing it somewhere to spend time alone, just thinking, on a warm summer's afternoon. Soft and powdery, but still very nice, and not too loud for being so floral.

  10. In the imp: Strong bergamot , mmm. And a bit of juicy peach, over a rich background of... other stuff.*

On wet: Hm, there's the bergamot. And something strong... oh, that must be red musk. I amp red musk, and I find it too spicy, compared to white or blue musk. There's also something a bit heavy in here that kind of makes me feel sick/headachey - the peach is going a bit air freshener, I'm afraid. I think that happened with Tamora, too. And that spiciness is not my favorite. *Goes to check note list again* Ohh... amber and carnation. There's the smoky spiciness. That kind of thing teds to fail on my skin chemistry. I do better with a more creamy carnation, à la Alice.

Initial drydown: Wow, holy spicy carnation. Not altogether bad, and the bergamot is coming to the fore again, which helps with the queasy feeling.

Overall - This is still heavier on me than I would have liked - I was hoping for a realistic peach, bergamot and tangy cranberry scent. Not holiday spice potpurri. :cry2:

*Note: I'm recovering from a cold, so my nose is quite possibly not to be trusted today.

  11. In the imp: Strong green moss, and mate with a real kick!

On wet - Wow, really earthy green tea, mate and moss. Not bad. There's a floral note piggybacking on the moss, balancing the earthiness. However, I'm not getting any citrus. BPAL citrus notes hide on me! This is all tuberose, mate and moss for me. It's pleasant enough, but I was most excited for the mandarin and tangerine. Maybe they'll come out to play after this dries down.

Drydown (initial) Meh. Something sharp is coming out and the citrus is totally gone.

Post-drydown: I must have forgotten this has sandalwood in it. I think me and sandalwood officially don't get on well. Moss notes seem to fail to me also. Oh well, one less bottle to spend money on, though I did love the concept.

  12. In the imp: Hm, gingery.

On wet: Oh dear god, vetiver-y. =( Get it away!

Drydown: Musty, sharp, impossible-to-ignore vetiver scent. Must be the gingergrass. What is it about my skin that does this? It's awful on me! :( This one's going in the swaps pile.

  13. In the Imp: Oh dear, smells gingery.

On wet: Not bad actually! I smell mostly grapefruit with a light garnish of ginger. This is rather refreshing!

Initial drydown: OK, those florals are coming to the foreground now. *Goes to check the note list* OK, jonquil and ylang ylang are behaving themselves on me. Oh, and muguet is lily-of-the-valley. That's fine, and it's staying realistic, not soapy. Oh, and it seems khus is actually vetiver, but it's not going all horrible on my skin for once. And the fig adds a subtle earthy-foody quality without really standing out. Same with the amber; doesn't stand out much, but rounds out the top notes of white ginger and tangy pink grapefruit. I'd say this is a nicely balanced blend.

Overall: The grapefruit's freshness keeps the other notes from being too overpowering, and I think anything anchored with a white musk-y base tends to work out fine for me. A nice wearable, refreshing, fruity floral, though I don't think I'll splurge for a bottle just yet.

  14. Maybe it is too theme-y, and I'm not familiar with all the scents you mentioned. But I keep thinking something with a green tea note would be nice, and appropriate for sitting in an audience. I also just happen to love green tea, so no accounting for taste!

That's a good idea, but can you think of a green tea scent that isn't fruity? I think I have any green tree viper, but I will double check when my fingernails are dry.

ETA: I wish I had a good cherry blossom scent, but I traded Hanami away, and I've never gotten around to ordering the salon that is mostly cherry blossom. Maybe I will make that a priority with my next order.

Hmm, have you any Embalming Fluid?

  15. I'm going to see Madame Butterfly this evening. I am trying to decide what scent to wear. I don't know how theme-y I want to be. I just want to be wearing something sophisticated that won't clash with the mood. I'm having a skin chemistry issue right now, that makes me want to avoid berries and fruity scents. (Ooo but maybe I'll test The East this morning, just to make sure.)

I will be wearing a dress from Anthropologie. It is back lace and formfitting, high neckline and a pencilish hem to the knee. (They don't have it on their website anymore or I'd link.) I'll be wearing black pearl earrings.

On theme, I don't have any butterfly oils, and the only straight-up Japanese one I have is Tissue, but I don't want to wear that.

Some of my favorites that I have on hand are:

    Morocco

    Snake Oil

    Snake Charmer

    Schwarzer Mond

    Lyonesse

    Elephantine Colossus

    Vixen

    Pisces

I also have Looking Glass bath oil, and I am considering using it as a body oil instead of wearing a perfume. It is really amazing.

And I also have a plethora of imps and decants that I couldn't possibly list.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

ETA: I just tested The East and Looking Glass, and they are both less than wonderful with my skin chemistry of the moment. :/

Maybe it is too theme-y, and I'm not familiar with all the scents you mentioned. But I keep thinking something with a green tea note would be nice, and appropriate for sitting in an audience. I also just happen to love green tea, so no accounting for taste!

  16. In the Bottle: Sweet, wet aquatics, peony and citrus! Freshness from (I think) the kumquat.

On wet: Oh no, it's starting to make me feel sick. Heady! Blast these aquatics on my skin. Barely any citrus is getting though in this wet stage. :cry2:

Starting to drydown: Salty seafaring aquatics. Thinking this may be a swapper.

Drydown after about an hour: Oh, I just smelled something that wasn't an aquatic for the first time. I think it's the peony. Still soapy and strong... Oh right, it has Dragon's Blood in it. I wish I'd get any of the fruit, lychee or mandarin especially. Doesn't seem to be happening; I'm just getting soapy perfumey aquatic with a resiny background. And I love my Water Dragon icon so much, too... But it's not a keeper on me. I think I feel a headache starting.
