  1. crunchy autumn leaves, spices and apple cider - reds, browns and greens - it really does capture autumn in a bottle!

and then 5 or so hours later (if i put my nose up to my wrist) the nutmeat comes out to play....mmm... yummy

  2. in bottle: a lot going on

    wet on skin: ditto

    dry down: I get florals, something sweet, hint of musk balanced by the sandalwood… then the amber amps up a bit;

    then a bit later: the woods and vetiver become the more obvious notes under the florals;

bit later still: the amber is also back

very interesting and complex scent - there is a lot going on, i've tried it a few times and still don't quite know what to make of it

  3. musk with myrrh underneath; drying: this is kinda dirty, starting of a ylang hlang and dirty musk and then moves to a warmer myrrh & dirty musk dirty, interestingly the patchouli is in the background

bit later it is just musk

  4. this is a very delicate light pink and white scent

rose in the beginning (like a rose otto or old fashioned variety) with just a touch of resins to gently round out the scent. later the lily of the valley appears to add another dimension.

  5. to me this seems like it is a delicious sweet cyprus/pine in the early stages (but there is no pine?! so must be combination of some of the notes that i can't quite pick), then some of the darker woods, spice, resins develop into the blend with some musk in the background.

this is amazing and would be 'hot' on a guy!

  6. this is possibly the most 'pink' scent i have ever tried.

at the beginning it was pink bubblegum - unfortunately combined with a smell that reminded me of a hospital - then i got the lollipops - still unfortunately combined with the hospital smell - but thankfully that then went away and i was left with a pink fruity floral scent which moved from more fruity to more floral as it faded

  7. wet this reminds me of black forest cake, all chocolate and cherries.

this take a while to settle with all three notes vying for attention - but once it does, its a simple tierd blend orange blosson at top, chocolate underneath and cherry in middle.

i am fence sitting on this one - there are things i like about it, but i'm not sure i am keen on the cherry note to wear - which is definitely the red, juicy, but bordering on sour, fruit - not a cherry blossom

i think it would make a great scent for a candle or oil burner!!! just not one for me to wear

  8. to me this is similar to blood amber, which i like, but more pot-pourri-ish due to the clove, so overall i am not really keen on this onw.

on me, if clove is the dominant spice in a blend then i seem to miss the other spices. i didn't get the cinnamon at all. if i try really hard, i think i can spot the pepper - i think if the pepper could overpower the clove i would like this more.

  9. i really like this scent!

a yummy dusty chocolate but with warm caramel, toffee and hops adding a yummy caramel flavour - almost honey like - and then the hazelnut adding a woody note. the cream appears a bit later in the blend adding a new thick creamy dimension holding all the notes together

its delicious - if velvet, inez and agrat-bat-mahlaht had babies (ok, not really possible) then you would get gluttony

  10. CCCLXXXII (382)

you think about reaching for a caramel fudge bar, but instead take a bite into a green sweet and super juicy fruit in stiffling humid tropical weather

a brief tropical storm passes by

afterwards you take a book and your fudge bar and wander down into the garden where the scent of jasmin sambac, lotus and other tropical blooms are in the air following the storm, which has lowered the himidity a little, so you decide to relax in the garden under the jasmine sambac tree next to the pond where the lotus are flowering with your book, nibbling on your fudge bar every once in a while

It is like in making CCCLXXXII, they took some black lotus, some manila and a portion of a humid tropical aquatic, a dash of ozone and underlayed it with a caramal (who would have thought that would fit in a tropical scent) and lotus root or a wood - OMG - i love it - my perfect tropical scent!!!

no one... i say NO ONE.... is getting their hands on this baby!!!!!!

  11. If you pay directly through pp you don't get a confirmation of shipping, right?

You get a CnS with a Paypal order. :D

I have only ever received 1 CnS since I started ordering BPAL (about 18 months worth) :P

I've heard of that happening with international orders. I've had tons of orders and have had a CnS for every one through PP.

same here - i order through paypal and, so far, i've had a CNS from the USPS when the lab posts every time!

  12. wet on skin: green sage and musky

while later: this is really nice, a bit green, a bit musky, a bit earthy, and sweet berries of the kind i have found in the grindhouse ladies - not candyish at all

even later: to me this is like Daiyu's dirty sister! i think this is the dark musk and the tea. i will have to do a comparison sometime soon & see what happens when i layer them

  13. orange and neroli - quickly shifts to raspberry candy - then orange candy - then raspberry orange candy - then, unfortunately, it just smells like some generic shower gel on me

maybe that would be more appealing if i was trying this in summer

  14. Wet on skin: woody & musty

This quickly evolves into polished wood and then back to a damp wood scent - but not in a bad way

After an hour or so I get the smoky incense as well

This is really evocative of walking through an histoic building which is slightly damp and dark with some insence that has been mysteriously left burning

  15. in bottle: sweet, dirty & woody.

wet on skin: sweet, musky, resiny.

bit later: tarragon and amber I think are amping up - yep, its amber but the sweetness of orange, the musk and the resins are still there, I think I can just spot the nutmeg now too.

later: the fig, and all the other notes lovely balanced - very evocative of the gorgeous image!!!

this lasts for ages, with the notes well balanced and playing a sweet resiny herbal spicy musky woody dirty dance -

my clothes seem to really absorb this scent too!!!!

  16. wet on skin and dry down: sweet, floral, clean - chrysanthemum dominant early on, but berry and musk there too.

dry: berry & chysanthemum still dominant with musk underneath. It is a very fresh and clean scent for while. a lot different to the other ladies

so I am very happy once the tea leaf and jasmine start to come out (i think this was after about an hour). a few hours later it is tea, jasmine & musk, with berry and chrysathemum in background - i really like this phase.

    Daiyu is quite a morpher

  17. wet on skin: sweet spices!

dry down: now I've had it for a couple of weeks the patchouli softens it and the carnation provides a nice floral contast at the top; it is a bit like diving your nose into the sweet spice cupboard; then the pepper appears!

dry: unfortunately on me it becomes a pot pourri-like patchouli/clove/cardamom combo; not the spicy chai tea scent i was hoping for :P

oh well, i guess i had been doing so well with the carnaval's that i was bound to eventually come across something that didn't quite work for me as i hoped

  18. this one was not quite what i expected

it started off as grass - like walking through a field of semi-dry tall grass - wow!

but then after 10 to 15 minutes the amber, cardamom and something else create quite a unisex to masculine - an "i just got out of the shower after using guys products" kind of scent - and stays like this for another 1 & 1/2 hours...

and then i get excited because the honey and dry grasses appear and make this quite amazing and complex, momentarily...

however, then the amber and cardamon take over again and i'm left with the post-shower masculine scent with only glimpses of my dry grasses

i will put this away for a couple of weeks and see how it develops

  19. It does have a boozy mead moment early on, probably due to the gruit, but on me it is only short lived. i was also excited that notes i normally amp up like lemon and clove never took over the scent!

this was a very pretty, light, golden honey which was supported/tempered/rounded by the other notes, some of which are playing a key role - like the sweet briar - but are really challenging to distinguish

    a beautiful and harmonious scent.

  20. yeah, i just discovered the new 300 character limit - i ordered 10 bottles - so there was really only room for a list of names - a number of which i had to use the short hand version to fit - there was definitely not enough room to include the usual details

paypal's first response to Tullivers email makes no sense whatsoever - will be interesting to see how they respond to your follow up email

  21. in bottle: wow, this is really interesting, the notes combined seem to have a herbally note - sweet and forest

wet on skin: light floral honey - exactly like some native flowers i like, then the peach appears in the mix (and i have learned that peach likes my skin!).

later: cocoa, amber and patchouli provide the forest through bringing a beautiful earthiness and depth to the scent

Evokes being in a forest eating honey and peaches - yum!

Mmm, imagine this as a candle scent!

interestingly, when i first tried it the herbal note that i get from the bottle was definitely there on my skin in the wet and dry down phases and quite dominant, but now its not there at all - so, like all the ladies it has been interesting to see the blend evolve over a couple of weeks!!!!

on the throw and wear-length debate - the first test i did was with six of the ladies, and yes, it was going to struggle against the more dominant ladies like marianne - but honey and peach tend to have good wear length on me and this is no exception!
