  1. Musk, musk, MUSK and what smells like the undergrowth of a forest. Dank and earthy. Not working on me.

which is exactly what I needed. I took a shot at this at the recommendation of a friend....simply wonderful. I enjoy dark, woodsy scents.

  2. Mortarion, I'm not the number one go-to girl for recommending men's scents because I can't get my husband to wear BPAL (or any scent). But of things that I have tried on myself, Anubis came to mind for evoking death and the desert. It's resinous and spicy and definitely gender neutral (the notes are holy myrrh, storax, balsam, and embalming herbs). Ozymandias might be a good choice if you're looking for something that's on the more sophisticated end (vs. natural/earthy), although your character looks like he'd be more of an outdoors, roughin' it kind of guy. :D The description doesn't list the notes, and although I have heard some people compare it to Chanel No. 5 it smells very dry and masculine to me. (I'm sure you're already picking up on how different a blend can smell from one person to another from reading reviews and looking at threads here in Recommendations!)

Good luck finding something to inspire you!

Ivy...thank you for the rec of Anubis. It has come to my conclusion that Anubis shall forever be my favorite. It simply is divine.

  3. What can I say to give this justice? This is autumn incarnate. Everything blends so well. I never smelled bandaids but the apple came out the gate hard and strong. Shortly thereafter the other scents caught up and made this pure beauty. This is my last review of this order......all I gotta say is thanks for the memories.

  4. Of all the bottles I ordered this time, I was waiting for this one the most and it has not disappointed. It is the essence of loamy earth and I adore it. It smells exactly what it says. I have always been a fan of the earth scents and thus Rappicini's garden has been a focus of mine. I wish I could afford a gallon of this scent.

  5. The leaves and wood come right to the forefront followed by tobacco. I smell something fresh struggling to make its way up front but the dark scents keep it in back. This is a very nice fall scent. I can't wait until the temperature gets in the 40's again so I can enjoy walks in the woods. That is what this reminds me of. Walks in the woods during autumn.

  6. Of the snake oils I have tried...this one has been the most pleasing on immediate wear. Whereas Death Adder and Snake Oil had the play doh scent on me, this one smells really herbal and oddly enough I almost smell forged metal in there for some reason. I gotta say I love how this played out and can only wonder what it will smell like with Coyote added to it. I smell leather and it must be the tonka. This one rules.

  7. When I opened the bottle I was almost distraught. The smell was extremely sweet and foody but almost immediately upon my skin it mellowed swiftly and took on the spicier stuff to which I must say GLEE. Its still kinda foody I suppose but a good kind. I smell the spicye pumpkin take the forefront with clove and nutmeg. Thank God its fall :P

    Amazing scent!

  8. Huh....this is a very interesting scent. I smell eucalyptus, a hint of anise and sage. But it smells pretty awesome. It reminds me of an oil I got from the American Indians to help sleep better. I love the smell of eucalyptus and sage a lot and anise is ok. This is quite nice. A keeper for sure.

  9. This is a pleasant scent of salty breezes and kinda reminds me of clothes drying on the clothesline outside. There is a definite soap scent to it but its pleasant. Its like...living in a house on a cliff overlooking the sea and drying your clothes outside after a nice wash.

    Its pleasant.

  10. well I am really not a fan of florals, but this smell is very pleasing to me. I think its the jasmine that has piqued my interest. I have always had a soft spot for it. The lilies of the valley are definitely there but this is a pleasant scent. Not something I would wear but certainly a woman.

A lot of these oils have me remembering my childhood: the fond memories.

  11. once again I smell smoke. In fact thats all I smell is smoke. I can't even pick up anything else. When it first went on it was strange and almost wolfsbane-ish but eventually just smelled of smoke. Wait.... something fresher is peeking through. Interesting how it morphs so swiftly on my skin. Its now become more of a blend of smoke and maybe something green/aquatic. An interesting combination but probably for my enabling pile.

  12. Definitely smell aquatic here and the florals aren't overly powerful. This reminds me of maybe a fresh rainstorm during late spring? The kind where it warms up after and leaves a scent of water and almost indistinguishable blossoms.I don't usually dig floral but this is so muted that I actually like this scent. Keeping this imp and may upgrade to a bottle later.

  13. interesting scent. While there is a very small hint of flowers, I smell food more. It smells very good. Two things...one I don't like food scents on me....and two now I am hungry... :P

Wonderful stuff but I don't want to wear something thats going to make me hungry...hehehe

  14. An interesting scent... it reminds me a lot of Wolfsbane (which I love) with a hint of smoke and something else. It may be the cedarwood. This is a wonderfully dark scent. It could remind me of shadow from an Obtenebration sort of way. Definite keeper.

  15. While most dragons blood scents send me off faster than garlic does a vampire, this particular scent was better. The vetiver and patchouli took some of the bite away from the dragon's blood and while I am not a fan of this one, it at least was tolerable for me. It had some good moments when the other scents took a step forward from the dragon's blood. Not for me but perhaps I can enable someone with it.

  16. arrr mateys...if ye be lookin fer somethin ta remind ye o the waves and brine o the deep...here be treasure!

Immediately when on the skin it wafted up my nose and reminded me of my days when visiting Maine. A total scent reminscent of pirates aboard a ship. A total win!

  17. when it first went on I was thinking....rats...floral... but the darker scents tempered this to something almost sinister with a hint of bite I would guess from the clove. A decent autumn scent that to me reminds me of withering flowers.

  18. My oh my...... this is the total scent I equate to what used to be my favorite club before it closed. The place was called Sanctuary and it had an amazing ambience. In the back were church pews and it was eerily lit by those wish candles you find in catholic churches. The next room was a dimly lit room that reminded me of an old saloon. This reminds me of it. Dark roses with a hint of something else.......Once again...not a masculine scent but definitely a seductive one..

  19. mmm...for some reason this scent reminds me of a tropical island. A really pretty smell but definitely not meant for a man...hehe. It reminds me of a warm summer day drinking a peach passion fruit tea . Not my kind but on a woman.....mmmm tasty.

  20. Why do I have a feeling I am going to seriously raid Rappaccini's Garden? Probably because every scent I've smelled thus far from here is really good. This scent is definitely a dark one. I almost smell tobacco with soil. As the others, it reminds me of good earth. It also has that sinister wisp of darkness in it,daring you to touch it.

    Love love love...

ETA: I had The Ghost on my otehr wrist for a sample and I sniffed the two together...... :P

sooooo amazing. The Ghost compliments it well by adding an eerie touch of garden flowers. Its the scent I'd find in a Witches Garden. I'll probably keep The Ghost now to compliment this one.

  21. Well.....this certainly smells like a flower garden at the peak of spring. Its very bright and cheerful. I do like it. It is a scent that brings back memories of visiting my grandma during spring when her flowers were in bloom,or reminds me of my ma's front yard. With that said its definitely not a masculine scent but it is certainly a nostalgic one.
