  1. I am loving this scent!

At first sniff, it seemed kind florally and soft.

When I first put it on, there was a sharp high note, the magnolia I think. I was a bit worried that it was going to stay there but it soon blended down into the amber and other florals.

It has been a couple of hours and they have all blended beautifully into a soft warm floral...without being too florally. I don't typically like floral scents but the amber in this warms them up and keeps the scent from being too sweet. The magnolia gives a light, uplifting scent that makes it good for summer and the amber gives it the touch of shadow that I like in my scents. The best of both worlds!

edited to add- I ordered a big bottle of this. I want it in an candle...this would make a gorgeous candle. But then, I have a weakness for magnolias...When I was in college, the main mall had magnolia trees down the middle. I'd pick a bloom and bring it back to my dorm room and it would scent the room for a week!

  2. I stopped by my mailbox on my way out the door to a party...lo and behold my BPAL box was in there! I took it with and...not being able to resist...I opened it at the party. I had friends digging through the box and ooohing and ahhhing...Several of them men...

Now to the point...One of the extras that Beth added was Faustus. I sort of remembered that it was supposed to be a masculine scent so I found a couple of volunteers...OMG! By the time I left an hour ago, these men were having women grabbing them by the arm and sniffing as they melted. This is a fantastic scent on a man. The two that tried it had slightly different body chemistry, but it was similar on both...the violet was there, but it was kept from being too feminine by the cinnamon and frankincense. They blended well and I didn't really smell the cinnamon and frankincense, it was more of a "feel" because they kept the violet from being too overwheming, if that makes sense.

Both of these guys asked me for the URL for BPAL and plan on placing orders ~grin~. I need to stash that imp away until my boyfriend comes in to town next weekend.

  3. LOL...I'm going to join the school of indecisive fish...wonder what an indecisive fish would look like...multicolored, tropical(ish), with long flowing fins?

Okay, back to the topic - in no particular order:

    Snake Oil (goes without saying)

    O and/or Dana O'shee for the honey

    Chimera

    Sin

    Dragon's Milk

Old Shanghai (for a nice fresh morning scent)

    Baobhan Sith (ditto)

    Bruja

    Jezebel

    Lady Macbeth

Come to me or #20 Love Oil

And I'm sure I'll think of others, but that is my short list.

Woohoo! I'm so excited...do you have any idea of a timeline? I might hold my Lush order if it will be soon.

  4. Hi Beth,

I just sent another email last night...I sent it to both Nella@BPAL and cupcake@bpal. The other two I sent went to the generic customer service email before nella got her own listed. I was trying not to clutter up your inbox unnecessarily.

    HUGS!

  5. I feel incredibly decadent...I ordered an unscented scrub from MMU and I took a shower with it today...I scooped about three spoons of the scrub into a little salad dressing size tupperware thing...added about 5 or 6 drops of Snake Oil....DIVINE!

I have a very light scent of snake oil following me around...and I'll kick it up a notch right before I go out by adding a drop or two directly to my skin...yummmmm

  6. Hmmm....I've emailed Nella twice with no reply about my April 3 with an April 7 add-on. I thought I saw somewhere that Beth said that orders through April 7 were shipped about two weeks ago, but I can't find it now.

    ~pout~

  7. Wooohoo! Mom's rock! My mom is coming this weekend to help me with ~yecchhh~ spring cleaning.

I'm all for ya'll getting some help. If you can add some empty vials and some materials to my order, I'll be more than happy to send them back ready to go!

    Lisa...in Austin

  8. Someone recommended this as an oil for helping me sleep. I have to say that it really does work.

It smells very lavendery without being flowery but I'm not sure what it dries down to because I'm usually asleep within 15 minutes of putting it on. There is a slight herbal scent but it is mostly lavender to me. Between Oneroi and Lush's therapy bar, I've been sleeping and dreaming for a couple of weeks now.

I definitely want to get a bottle of this and make a spritzer to spritz my bed with before I go to sleep at night.

  9. I have to second that. I gave my imp to my brother-in-law. When I was opening it for him to smell, I spilled a bit on my fingers and without thinking rubbed it on the t-shirt I was wearing...

It started off spicy...I didn't really get licorice, but a definite exotic spice. I mellowed into a nice, sexy masculine scent. It smelled warm...and kind of a spicy/sunny/warm feeling. I'll buy it again when I get a regular guy in my life.

My brother-in-law really liked it and my sister liked it on him....I wish I could remember more, but we were coloring Easter eggs and it was a bit hectic.

  10. QUOTE (shriekingviolet @ Apr 16 2004, 04:28 AM)

And yeah, I thought I remembered Gingerbread Poppet (and Yuletide too) still hanging around until almost Feb (if not until the Imbolc update, I don't recall), but I didn't have documentation for it and didn't order any so I didn't want to give a date.

Mmmm, you should try some. It's so nummy - smells just like warm, butter, fresh-baked gingerbread. Works fabulously as a room scent, as well as a body scent.

Not fair...sighhh...I love that scent...and totally missed out on it...The holidays were a blur last year...I hope she brings it back next year!

  11. Beth...this is all good news! Nothing bad in there. I was wondering how you could be surviving with the prices the way they were. If you were to go out of business because you can't afford to stay in business...now that would suck rocks!

I don't mind UPS because they have a cheaper rate if you get the delivery to a business address instead of residential. I can have my packages delivered to work and save a few $$$.

I'm in love with the new scents already and trying to resist placing yet another order before my last one gets here. I want Beltane and Arcana!!! and I need to re-read the rest of the list because my mind went into a BPAL induced haze as I read the scent lists...lol.

Do what you have to do to keep feeding our addiction ~grin~...we love you for it!

    Hugs!

  12. I thought I had reviewed this, but I guess I hadn't.

I got this as imp and had to get a big bottle. As you can tell by my nick, I love chai...I love that cinnamon/spicy combo. I am hooked on the Lush Chai shower gel and this is a great complement to it. They don't have the same scent, but they go well together...the Chimera has a more resinous dry down to balance out the cloves of the Chai shower gel.

I thought I'd try it as a room scent. I put my wax in the burner and added a few drops. I smelled the cinnamon but it wasn't a foody cinnamon. I guess the myrrh and copal kept it from being too foody.

Well, stupid me, I went out to my daughter's school carnival and forgot about the tealight still burning under the burner. I should have come home to find the house burned down...but instead, I'm enveloped by this wonderful scent when I walk in the door...it is kind of a cinnamony buttercream frosting scent. How that came about, I don't know...but it is truly divine.

So Chimera is a true dual purpose scent. It is a great room scent as well as a divine body scent...yummm

  13. What I did with my last order is I went to the site and created my order...let CCNow figure the shipping, then moved to PayPal for the actual order.

I don't know if that is the best or easiest thing for Elizabeth, but if it puts more money in HER pocket, I'll use it unless she asks me not to.

  14. I was just trying my sample...trying to figure it out since there isn't a description yet to help me.

It started off strong...almost too strong for me. It wasn't a spicy scent but it wasn't sweet either. Maybe it is a musk. I didn't think I'd like it.

As it dried, it mellowed into a softer, slightly sweeter scent...I'm imagining an African plain with yellow/brown grasses blowing in the breeze, heated by the warmth of the sun. There is a bit of floral blowing in from somewhere but I can't quite place it. It makes me want to stretch in the sun and snuggle down with a purrrrrrr.

    This might be a keeper.

  15. I'm still a bit undecided on this one. The apricot and patchouli seem to be balanced on me.

The image I'm getting is a bowl of fresh ripe fruit in a house that has been closed up for a while. The fruit is there, fresh and sweet, but there is a definite musky/earthiness about it.

I'm not sure this is a keeper for me. It is a very interesting scent though.
