    Lightning

First Sniff: Freshness with only a tiny hint of ozone. Wet: It's very light and pleasant. Dry: I was hoping for more ozone in this scent, but the fresh and light smell, which smells a bit flowery on me, was still nice. It smells like there might be lilies in this. My Reaction: This is a very light and airy scent on me but it doesn't really remind me of the sky over the sea during a storm. Unfortunately, being a lighter scent, it fades rather quickly on me too. I liked it, although I was hoping for a heavier ozone note. Rating 1-5: 3

    Wings of Azrael

First Sniff: Something sharp and tangy; possibly the amber? Wet: Light and flowery. Dry: I think I can smell the lily or violets or some other type of light flower note in it. It's pleasant and not overpowering. My Reaction: I thought this was a happy scent and, true to the description, shows that death is not always sad and lonely. Unfortunately, it turned powdery after a few minutes like so many other floral scents on me. Later it started to get overpoweringly sugary sweet and I had to wash it off. Rating 1-5: 1.5 (It had potential though!)

    Nero

First Sniff: Smoky. I think I smell something that reminds me of patchouli in it. Wet: A tiny hint of mint and rosemary came through here. Dry: There's some sort of 'burny' note in this, almost like strong cinnamon. Perhaps that’s the pine plus the rosemary? It definitely invokes images of a smoldering city! My Reaction: This seems more of an Autumn-time-of-year scent and it was not unpleasant. It was however, very different than the aquatics that I usually prefer! It was definitely smoky smelling which was cool. Rating 1-5: 3

    House of Night

First Sniff: Smoky, with a bit of a tang to it. Wet: Soft and still smoky. It’s very light on me, even wet. Dry: As it dries it becomes even lighter and it’s very flowery. I think I can detect a hint of lily which is pleasant. My Reaction: I like it and I like what the poem evokes, however this scent is just too faint on me and flowery for my tastes. It also faded rather quickly and it also turned to baby powder after it dried, which is nice but not what I'm looking for. Rating 1-5: 1.5

    The Jersey Devil

First Sniff: Berries! Wet: I’m getting a little bit of the cedar now and the berries have died off a little bit. Dry: The berries have mellowed with the cedar, which became stronger on the dry down. My Reaction: Unfortunately, I’m not getting any pine at all, just a hint of berry with some cedar to tame it. I’m not sure I liked that the cedar almost over powered the blackberry though. Overall, it reminds me of how Glasgow smells. It’s pleasant, but not as berry-centric as I had at first sniff hoped. Rating 1-5: 2.5

    The Ghost

First Sniff: A fresh scent and I can already smell the calla lilies. Wet: Very crisp and clean smelling. It reminds me of an aquatic which is nice. Dry: Unfortunately, a lot of that crisp lily scent dies after it dries on me. It washes out to a very light, almost undetectable, flowery scent. My Reaction: I wish the calla lilies would have lasted longer as that was a pleasant smell. Unfortunately, this just didn't seem to have any staying power on me. Rating 1-5: 1.5

    Black Dahlia

First Sniff: Light and flowery. It reminds me of gardenias. Wet: More gardenia and something tangy and not so pleasant is coming through (probably the amber). Dry: The tang has died down and now I’m starting to smell a very light rose smell. I might even detect a hint of the jasmine which makes a nice blend with the rose. My Reaction: Very light and flowery, definitely a feminine scent. Unfortunately, it did not have very long staying power on me. Rating 1-5: 2.5

    Clio

First Sniff: Something tangy, almost dusty-like. It reminds me a bit like the “leather” in Jolly Roger. Wet: More leathery smell, but dusty tomes are coming through now. It reminds me more of a perfumed old book that you might find in your grandmother's llibrary rather than just old paper though. Dry: The scent is definitely reminiscent of a dusty library, although one owned by a grandmother. As it continued to dry down, the tanginess of the first sniff fades away to something softer and much more pleasant, albeit a bit too flowery to my nose. I never did get the orange smell that others have described, but it does smell like an old library, even though it’s a library of a flowery grandma! My Reaction: I like it, it’s something definitely different than the Deep Ones and Loup Garou which I love! It does remind me of old books, but with a hint of flowers which I could have done without. Rating 1-5: 3

    Fur Scents

After reading the rules and following ivyandpeony's suggestion to search limited titles only in the Recommendations subforum, I couldn't find another thread like this. If I did this wrong, please forgive me, I claim newbie-ism! Does anyone have any recommendations for scents that smell like fur? I know it sounds strange, but I love the smell of my cat's fur as well as a rabbit skin and foxtail I have. The soft smell is wonderful and I'd love to have that comforting scent to wear! It's reminiscent of babypowder but has an even lighter, softer smell. The rabbit skin and foxtail also have a slight tanned leather smell to them. Does BPAL have anything similar? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thunder Moon

This is the scent of a summer storm: thick black clouds pass over this full moon, the Goddess roars, and Her Beloved hurls his forked bolts of lightning in the distant sky. Ozone deepened by liquid amber, and a spray of hot nighttime rain mingled with the scent of lightning-struck wood, water-soaked summer blooms, and sun-scorched grass. First Sniff: Freshness. I love aquatics and this is starting off with a strong ozone smell which I enjoy. Wet: So far it's all ozone. Pleasant and fresh smelling. Dry: As it dries down, I'm getting a hint of lemon. Almost like PineSol which is not enjoyable. My Reaction: It's a light and airy scent. Definitely aquatic which is great! However, once it dried I was still getting a lemony smell which I didn't like. Unfortunately, I didn't smell the amber either. Rating 1-5: 3

    The Jersey Devil

First Sniff: I can smell the pine with a slight hint of berry. Wet: It smells like the woods. Overturned earth with pine needles on the ground. Maybe even a hint of cedar? Dry: As it dries, the cedar comes out more strongly, although not overpoweringly so. I can also smell the berry which goes very nicely with the pine smell. My Reaction: The berry mixed well with the forest scent. I loved the earthyness of this one! However even with the usual amount I put on it was rather faint, but it still smells good. I didn't like it as much dry as when it was wet, but it's still a pleasant scent. Rating 1-5: 3

    De Sade

First Sniff: Holy cow! Tangy and it burns my nostrils! Wet: Much the same as the first sniff, although now it's starting to smell like very new leather mixed with some sort of cleaning agent. Dry: As it dries it begins to get more subtle, but the tangyness is still there. I'm hoping as time passes for a softer leather smell to come through. The longer it was on my skin, the older the leather smelled, which I liked. I also smelled something like smoke on it, interesting. My Reaction: Way too strong up front, but as it dried it became pleasant enough. Probably not something that I will wear often, but it was fascinating how it started out with a new leather smell and then faded to an older leather smell the longer I wore it. Rating 1-5: 2

    Clio

First Sniff: The first sniff brings to mind cedar. Perhaps that's the benzoin? Wet: Same as the first sniff, but I can also now smell the patchouli. I'm still getting that scent of cedar too. Dry: As it dries, it starts to smell like dusty books which I found fascinating. I'm thinking that's the amber coming through. My Reaction: Once it dried, I found that I didn't like the mixture of amber and patchouli as it started to smell a bit like sour perfume. But as it began to fade, it got better and more enjoyable. It is subtle which is nice. Sadly, I did not smell the lavendar. Rating 1-5: 3

    Vinland

First Sniff: Berry with a slight hint of crocus or iris, I'm not sure which. Wet: It's light and smells a touch like fresh spring flowers, that's probably the crocus coming through. The loganberry starts to come through on the dry down. A hint of rose also peaks through on the dry down. Dry: The loganberry is much more prominant than when first sniffed, but not overly so. There are more things that come out after it dried on me, but I can't name them. My Reaction: A very pleasant, springtime scent on me. Unfortunately I couldn't smell the maple leaf which was disappointing. The light smell of the loganberry was very pleasant; not as overpoweringly so like the blackberry scent in Knave of Hearts, but light and very pleasant.

    Bayou

First Sniff: Wet. It's very reminiscent of a mist covered swamp with hanging moss in the background. Wet: This smells slightly sweet, with a hint of clean ozone to it. It definitely brings swamps to mind, just better smelling. Dry: As it dried, it took on a sweet scent which was not unpleasant. I can smell a slight evergreen scent and it is a very soft flowery smell. My Reaction: I liked this one and thought it was appropriately named. It had a heavy aquatic note to it which I enjoyed.

    Glasgow

First Sniff: Very strong berry scent! It almost smells like a berry pie! Wet: The blackberry comes through nicely and it's a clean scent on me. Dry: Fruity; I'm definitely getting the blackberry although there's something else there, perhaps the heather? Reminds me of cheery spring nights. It's fresh and invigorating! My Reaction: I liked this one and thought it worked well on me. Neutral and a "happy" scent in my opinion. And even though I've never been to Scotland, I sure hope that when I do it smells like this!

    Jolly Roger

First Sniff: A bit of salty sea air and rum. Wet: Strong and masculine smelling. The bay rum comes through the most so far. Dry: As it dries down, it becomes a bit lighter and the rum tapers off just a little. The leather starts to come out and mixed with the rum it is definitely a guy scent. My Reaction: Since I actually got this one for my husband, I'm not too terribly disappointed that it didn't really work on me. It's a heavier scent which would work well on a gentleman. It didn't really remind me of pirates, but it seemed like more of a licorice scent to me.

    Two, Five & Seven

First Sniff: Roses! Several different varieties and very, very strong. Wet: The roses have a very strong perfumey smell, almost over-poweringly so. Dry: As it dries, the roses continue to be very strong. It's so strong that it actually started to give me a headache after awhile. And it started to smell like old perfume, the kind that some Grandmothers wear, in about an hour after applying it on myself. My Reaction: I really thought I'd like this one as roses are my favorite flower, but it's just too strong. It's way too feminine and way too perfumey for me.

    Bliss

First Sniff: Burnt chocolate. Has the potential to be delicious though, once it dries. Wet: It starts off with the same burnt chocolate smell as the first sniff but is quickly replaced by the smooth smelling milk chocolate that's in the description. Dry: Once it dried, it smelled like the wonderful smell of Hershey's chocolate. It's like I'm back on the ride at Chocolate World, going through my favorite part of the ride, the part where you can smell the chocolate on the huge rollers as it's being processed. My Reaction: Simply delicious; it smells just like Hershey's chocolate! I love this! Although it did make me hungry...

    Wolf's Heart

First Sniff: Pleasant; light and a tiny bit flowery. Wet: Same as the first sniff. It seems to fade quickly though. Dry: Light and airy, it fades to an even softern scent as it dries. Some of the spices seemed to come out later though. There's a pleasant undertone of something I can't yet recognize, I assume it's the Dragon's Blood others have mentioned, and I thought that gave it the comforting smell. My Reaction: It's light and flowery and not overpowering at all. It's very feminine, however it did not make me think of wolves at all. It smells comforting and warm and even happy to me and I liked it.

    Coyote

First Sniff: Smells like fancy perfume. Wet: A bit less intense than the first sniff. It smells a bit like baby powder. Dry: Soft, powdery scent. The initial "ew perfume" reaction has lessened to something more pleasant. It became more subtle on me which was nice. It also smells lightly flowery. My Reaction: I really didn't like the first sniff and was very disappointed because I had high hopes for this one. It's definitely a feminine scent on me. Unfortunately, it does not smell like the warm fur that people described to me said it did. I'm disappointed in that I was really hoping for a "furry" scent. However, it is pleasant and light and overall it smells nice. It just wasn't what I was hoping for.

    The Deep Ones

First Sniff: Fresh and clean, also crisp. Wet: Same as the first sniff but with the scent of clean air mixed with water. I also smell some sort of light flower in there, lily maybe? Dry: It softens a bit as it dried but the smell of air/water is still pleasantly there. My Reaction: I like it and it definitely reminds me of the ocean. However I do not smell the salt that others have described.

    Fur Scents

I'm loving the descriptions of it! But are there any other BPAL scents that smell fur-like? Just in case Ivanushka doesn't like me? Thanks for the help!

    Loup Garou

Since this is my first purchased scent, here's my first review. First Sniff: Pine forest. Something comes through very strongly; it's either the pine or the juniper. Wet: Same as the first sniff only stronger. Dry: As it dries, the scent becomes less overpowering which is nice. Still a very strong smell of pine/juniper though. Later it becomes more subdued and another earthy scent came through for me, perhaps the eucalyptus? The overall scent evokes images of a primeval forest which I loved. My Reaction: I like it and it definitely reminds me of the woods. However it may be a bit too strong for me as it does seem to be a more masculine scent. EDIT: I've changed my mind! After it dries, Loup Garou slowly fades to a lighter, almost baby powder scent that reminds me of warm fur, sunshine and dryer sheets (so comforting!) and I love it! It is very masculine at first, but after about an hour it's simply delicious on a female! And it's also very subtle on me which is something I value in a perfume/oil.
