My batch of Rapture is all about jasmine. In a good way

I got Hells Belle in a swap yesterday, and am ever so grateful!

This went on very very sexy floral. Gorgeous. Within minutes it changed to the "caramelized magnolia" one of the other reviewers noted. Oh, even more gorgeous. Feminine and floral, but enough cream, musk and spice to tame it.

Heh heh, don't laugh - I wore this while watching Troy today (as (1) the Trojans are the Romans' ancestors, (2) I thought the blend's notes would be fitting, and (3) I don't have Athens). I'm such a dork. But it totally set the mood.

Rome was quite sharp and bitter at first, but it never overwhelmed. As the description says, it is graceful and refined. I normally can't stand cypress much, but this blend has a lot of depth. Probably due to the rose, which I didn't notice very much. The rose was just something lurking, pleasing, that made me keep sniffing my wrists. I don't think I'll be wearing this out very much, but I'll be loving it in my house.

The fruit I smell in Baba Yaga reminds me of the fruit I get from Lampades (a good thing, as I like Lampades), but more floral and sweet. I do wish I could identify which floral - it is familiar. Can't wait to find out what's in this. I do like it.

Oooooh yeeaaaah! This is gorgeous. I agree that this is more gender-neutral - not so masculine. I'm not getting much rose. The musk is beautiful, a little sweet, a little spicy. There is something so familiar about this. Don't know what but I do love it.

Wow, this is very delicate and soft. I put some on, then put more on straight away as I couldn't smell much.

At first this is sheer lavender.

After a couple of minutes the flowers start coming out. Every whiff I take is a different floral - mostly rose, but jasmine every now and then.

Dry down is a little sweeter than before. I really like this, but I think I'm wearing it just for myself. I really have to push my nose up against my wrist to smell Sophia. But she is lovely!

This is what I had wished Old London smelled like!

Nooo! I love London just the way it is.

Lucy's Kiss is a little more youthful than London. Whatever the spices are, I kept thinking maybe I was getting a little lavender-type sharpness. Dry down was quite powdery, and it lasted a while.

This one is going into the trade pile, due to its lack of empathy with my skin chemistry.

Its plummy, much like my beloved Kitsune-Tsuki. But it also has some florals (not sure what I'm smelling besides jasmine hmmm) - not too much, not too little, but juuuust right. Wow, how much I do like this! I wish it lasted longer, but that's ok - I'll just have to reapply often.

I agree with the Dragon's Bone recommendation. I think Dragon's Heart is also very nurturing. Tintagel and Blood Amber are also warm.

This is the second time I've tried my mom's Fallen imp. I remember it being lovely and dark the last time - musk and sandalwood.

This time, I'm getting the floral in the description. Its not a sweet, spring floral - its the imperial florals that Beth described, with a touch of amber. At first it was very perfume-y and heavy, but the dry down brought more sandalwood out and its very mellow. This totally suits my mom. Very sophisticated and warm.

I could not figure out what I was smelling, so I admit - I cheated and read the other reviews to try to figure it out. I'm getting lavender, but its not sharp. Something sweeter (floral) is toning it down. I'm not getting lemon or pepper. But I am getting clean and green. Whatever it is, I like it a lot. The more I wear it, I'll come back and edit this useless review...

I, too, got the pine thing going on with Hemlock. I love the forest-y smell of Dublin, but I think its a soft, wet forest smell. Not sure it would satisfy the desire of someone specifially asking for pine. I haven't tried either, but sounds like Black Forest or Thanatopsis might do the trick.

This was on my wishlist because I'm a fan of every note listed in the description. My attitude became neutral when I got a whiff of the imp. But now that I have it on:

At first I got the patchouli (I like patchouli so that's good for me). Then it turned into a sweet and green scent. The palmarosa and patchouli are up front, with whisps of rose here and there. Very very nice!

At first this was all wood on me. I didn't smell much sandalwood - it seemed a more sharp (like cedar), but maybe the cajeput was throwing me.

Dry down: now I'm getting the white florals. I wonder if my nose is just used to the wood and moving along, or if the wood note has really calmed down. Hmmm. All I know is that the flowers I'm smelling are light and lovely. This is a very calming scent for me.

Like the other reviewers here, I found this one to be much stronger and different in the bottle than on the skin. As soon as I applied, I got mint then trees/cypress. That quickly morphed into a yummy patchouil with a touch of wood. Now, at drydown, I can't make out one note from the others.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect to like this one as much as I do. I usually can't wear oils this dark and heavy. But the throw doesn't overwhelm - yay! This is a good choice for the rainy day we're having.

This IS tea rose! Oh so English. The dry down is very bright on me. I want to say white sandalwood? Don't let that turn you off. Its very faint, whatever it is.

I think I know why those who don't usually like rose are liking this one - its youthful and sophisticated. Other roses sometimes can be perceived as musty, maybe reminiscent of elderly ladies. (Not me - I love rose, esp those from Beth). Just a thought.

The violet here is very nicely balanced by the other notes. Its floral without being floral. Its sweet but not sweet. Its bright and dark. Sorry to be so vague - but its just a very polite smell. Doesn't push any particular category. Ever once in a while I get soap - but not a bad way, just in a clean and friendly granny way. This isn't a strong scent, so I find myself lifting my arm to smell it often.

I smelled a scrumptious blackberry when i first put this on. Then right after that - this is totally forest! Not a sharp pine, mind you. This is hiking after the rain - sweet and mossy. The rose doesn't appear. Maybe its blending into the greenery and I don't notice. Every few whiffs I get the blackberry again. I really like this. Its perfect for the rainy day we're having today.

Looks like jj_j and I were in the same mood today to try Wanda...

Wanda is GORGEOUS! The notes that stand out on me are the merlot, violet and a touch of leather. The leather helps keep Wanda from crossing over to fruity classification. I want to say a boozier, sexier, more adult and less fruity Kitsune-Tsuki, even though the two don’t have any specific notes in common. (So even if you're not Kitsune fan, don't let my crazy olfactory interpretation discourage you).

Amazingly complex and completely unique. Good luck ever finding anything that resembles Wanda should BPAL ever discontinue producing her.

On list for bigger bottle already. Think I’m buying mom one too.

Out of the vial this is a very exotic jasmine.

BUT THEN... Rapture does what all my favorite BPAL scents do: its settles in on my skin so well that it smells natural. Like I wake up smelling like that. This is so pretty and feminine - a warm, easy floral. Sigh. The jasmine still stands out a little more than everything else, but the rose, musk, myrrh & rest take the edge off the jas and create a little mystery.

As with all BPAL, don't judge this one straight out of the bottle.

Price increase? BPAL is so worth it!

Paypal? Not a problem.

Shipping carrier? Its warm enough - the brown shorts have returned. He can come to my door any day. The blue shorts are cool too.

New smells? That's the best news I've received in days!

Nice big juicy pear at first, but as those before me have mentioned, the pear disappears within the first hour or so. No complaints, because what follows is beautiful light floral - a nice combination of rose and lily of the valley. Elizabeth's white musk is so wonderfully clean and fresh, it blends in perfectly. Endymion makes me feel young. A great daytime scent.

Very very lemony when first applied, but within an hour it dried down to a very wet floral on me. Though lilac is not a tropical flower, the wetness of the smell reminds me of Hawaii. Beautiful. I wish the rose note was a little stronger - this the lilac is very strong. But that's just my chemistry today - gris gris said the rose stood out for her.

A few hours later: how pretty! I think everything just had to mellow out for me to truly enjoy.
