  1. Since they're closing down after Christmas (sadly), does anyone know of any BPALs that are similar to B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful's "Superworldunknown" and "Love"?

    ...

Be sure to check out the Lush similarities thread that's pinned at the top of Recs - there's been some B Never discussion there too. (You can search the thread using the "search topic" box that appears at the top and bottom of the topic itself. )

I didn't realise that thread might have B Never stuff too (thought it was just Lush) - although I couldn't find anything about Superworldunknown or Love using the search.

  2. The closest you'll get to candy & sea air on here is Lilith & The Giant Crab, which is tangerine ice cream and sea air. It's an LE but you'll find it easily on the forums. It's not the same scent but along similar lines. Another sea air + sweet scent you may like would be Lyonesse which starts off very sea breeze and dries down vanilla. Most of the yuzu blends in BPAL tend to be asian tea scents which I really love but not the same thing or even close. The other fun scent I'd recommend for you if you like citrus with musk is Shoggoth. It's lime, lemongrass, florals, musk and does for some have an aquatic vibe. You might really enjoy it.

The apple + perfume scents in BPAL are....

Poisoned Apple - very crisp realistic apple

Apple Of Sodom - smokey, evil apple

    The Hesperides - cidery apple

    Ladon - Apple Orchard

Cupid Complaining To Venus - Honeyed Apple

    Have fun exploring

Thanks for the reccomendations. There's a couple I've already tried (Lyonesse just smelt odd to me and The Hesperides was the worst BPAL I've ever tried!) and I forgot to mention I'm vegan so Cupid... is out, but there's quite a few others there for me to try :)

  3. Since they're closing down after Christmas (sadly), does anyone know of any BPALs that are similar to B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful's "Superworldunknown" and "Love"?

B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful's Superworldunknown:

    Their description:

"The smell of candy floss, sherbert fountains, toffee apples and the seaside, yet sophisticated… escapist perfumery really. Clever use of cocoa and vanilla absolute with cassia makes this fragrance really edible without having a single character that you can be labelled with. And a new blend of juniper berry adds a breath of Norwegian fresh air and walking in the hills in summer, a new material made from tonka beans to provide a hint of reassurance. Petigrain and bitter orange mixed with lime, lemon and bergamot create a dizzy fairground ride of top notes. All bouqueted with rose absolute and ylang ylang."

    My description:

Lemon, candy floss (cotton candy) and sea air.

B Never Too Busy to Be Beautiful's Love:

"Love is an instantly bright and bubbly fragrance with a vivacious green apple fruit scent and sweet citrus innocence. As the initial burst fades it's replaced with a sugary sweet apple pie note whilst maintaining a sharp lift. A youthful blend of apple and cinnamon, Love's combination of cassia and the citrus notes of lemon and bergamot sit alongside the more traditional florals of jasmine and ylang to round off a sparkling fragrance."

    My description:

Apples and other nice blended perfumey smells.

And whilst I'm posting, anyone found anything similar to Urban Decay's discontinued "Go".

    Urban Decay's Go

    Their description:

"This sparkling, fresh, fun perfume oil is an infusion of energy. Uplifting and energetic, it unleashes bright, euphoric top notes of yuzu (a Japanese citrus fruit) and grapefruit. Evoking a day spent outdoors, the citrus evolves into a green middle accord of crisp herbaceous notes…fresh-cut grass, lavender, and honeysuckle. The clean, airy base note of oceanic musk subtly anchors this effervescent scent."

    My description:

Initially yuzu and honeysuckle, but dries to warm, dry grass, lavender and sea air. Kind of hard to describe as I think was the most blended perfume I've ever tried (and maybe my favourite).

  4. I love vanilla scents. To give you a reference, I ADORE Yankee Candle's Christmas Cookie scent. Anyone have any scent recommendations?

I love Christmas Cookie (and Vanilla Cupcake as well) but unfortunately I've yet to find a good match for it at BPAL.

But there are some foody and vanilla-y ones in the general catalogue that I like, even though they are nothing like Christmas Cookie:

King of Hearts - Smells like a blackcurrant pie/tart. A bit like YC's blueberry scones.

Antique Lace - Vanilla ice cream and clean linen sheets (I don't like it fresh as much though, I have to keep it for several months and wait for the scent to smooth out).

TKO - Starts out sugared lavender but leave it a few hours and it goes to vanilla marshmallows.

Dorian - I don't get much vanilla from this but a lot of people do. It's like sugared tea on me with a tiny hint of lavender on me.

Eat Me - A big, fat currant bun.

I've only tried about 180 scents though so there might be a closer match hiding somewhere.

  5. My suggestions are:

Jester: Bright berries and entirely inoffesive

Antique Lace: Smells like sitting on a pile of laundry eating a big tub of vanilla ice cream; there's a reason it's so popular

Tweedledee: Sweet and orangey fruit punch

My absolute favourite at the moment is Victoria which is very girly and sweet - but not available in imps unfortunately.

Squirting Cucumber and Kumiho are also excellent but I'd probably avoid them because their names can sound a bit... suggestive.

  6. Lavender and lemon. It's not bad but kind of so so.

It's OK but the best lavender scent ever is TKO.

Temple of Dreams I found somewhat similar to Nanshe but better.

    2.5/5 Get TKO instead.

  7. I can't really figure out how to decribe this.

It's not your typical floral in the same way that a violet is a typical (although this does not spell of violet).

It is not as sweet or light as most florals.

2.5/5 I can't say I'm that keen on this although it's not unpleasant.

  8. How do I describe dragon's blood? I was expecting something dark and maybe a little spicy, but the actual oil is quite sweet and inoffensive.

It's not bad but straight up it's maybe a little too sweet and simple for me, but I wouldn't rule out trying blends with a Dragon's Blood note.

2.5/5 Not bad, but not great either.

  9. A lot like a less evil version of the Jabberwocky.

There's some notes in here which I love (vanilla and lime) but also quite a few that I strongly dislike (myrrh, patchouli, vetiver, pine, almond and clove) so the result unfortunately is that the bad outweighs the good.

    2/5 Can't say I liked it.

  10. Garden Path With Chickens sounds the best so far - I'm not a big fan of florals, it is more the wet grass scent I was after.

I wouldn't worry. I get zero florals from Garden Path with Chickens. Just oodles of grass and ivy.

The only problem with it is that it fades rather fast on me and has a very slight hint of something artificial about it after a while, kind of like those washing powders that are supposed to make your clothes smell really fresh. But no florals whatsoever.

  11. Weird, I can't quite decide if I like this one or not. I do get a bit of pineapple but also toast at the same time which just seems to confuse my brain. Reminds me a bit of Jack but slightly sweeter and less spicy.

    2.5/5 It's a tad plastic-y though and I can't really see myself wearing it.

  12. The greatest of all Aztec cities, and capital of their empire. Amber, hyssop, coriander, epazote, Mexican sage, prickly pear and Mexican tulip poppy.

Strange mix of smells that I can't quite place. Slightly soapy but not very floral. It almost smells like there's pepper in this but I know there isn't.

2.5/5 Not bad but kind of 'meh.'

  13. 2007

Mostly rose and although it has a tiny hint of that funny smell I get from most of BPAL's rose blends (which I'd describe as a cross between socks and lettuce), it's only there slightly. It kind of smells like there are some other florals in the blend that I can't identify.

2.5/5 It's not bad but I think I prefer Rose Red and even then I don't think a pure rose scent is really right for me.
