    Antique Lace

This one is not my favorite, which is weird. It has primarily Notes of Win™ in it and it's wildly popular. And in later days, despite the similarities drawn between the two, I found that I loved Black Lace. But this was quite a lot like Alice to me, which also wasn't what I'd expected. It's sharp and almost bitter on me, with a heavy dose of dust.

    Plunder

Red Hots SN once it touches my skin, start to finish.

    High John the Conqueror

I love, love, love this one. It makes me feel clear-headed and quick-witted and it has a pleasant true grape scent -- white grapes -- rather than koolaid or candy. I adore it. It's a calming scent that just makes me feel like I honestly own the world.

    Velvet

This is not at all foody once it touches my skin. It's an amazingly nice wood blend (sandalwood, specifically) with a hint of sweetness to keep the wood from going to sawdust. They myrrh blends in so well and gives it a lot of depth. It's a fantastic scent, but it doesn't feel like me when I wear it. It's really nice, though. The imp I have is at least 2.5 years old; I've had it for about 2 of those years and it just keeps getting better.

    Blood Amber

Play-doh and spicy baby powder. Not as reekingly unpleasant as that sounds ... but not for me, either.

    Cathode

Soft, slightly aquatic, minty goodness. It's not a scent I reach for -- it doesn't fit my needs in a perfume -- but I really enjoy just sniffing it. It's clean without roaming into the realm of detergents and soaps and it's slightly aquatic without making me feel like I've just snorted a line of starfish. And the mints ARE electric. I don't know how to put it better. They have a charge -- but in a tingly electric way, not slammed-in-the-face-with-a-lightning-bolt way.

    Lightning

This one is pure Eau de Dyer Sheets.

    Water of Notre Dame

This is one of the few conjure bag oils that works with my chemistry. This is even more amazing because it's somewhat aquatic and they tend to hate me quite a lot. This scent is soft, subtle, indescribably well-blended. It smells like clean, running water (no chlorine), soft bankside florals (but it's not a floral scent), a breeze and just enough sunshine to warm rather than overheat. It's a fantastic blend and it really is quite calming.

    Fae

This one is a nice, feminine, clean, fruity, sweet-but-not-even-vaguely-cloying scent. It's not "me," per se, but it's quite pleasant to smell and deserves far more love than it gets. The peach is neither fake, nor is it overpowering. It's altogether very well balance and simply smells like a lightly floral sweetness. Very apropos of a summer morning, before it's too hot, but with everything verdant and vibrant.

    All Night Long

This is one of the few conjure bag oils that works on me and doesn't make my nose go screaming. It's a soft, musky cinnamon scent with a soft, creamy undertone. But that's oversimplifying quite a lot. It's actually a very nice, not at all "red hots" scent that doesn't burn and has quite a lot of depth. I'm not in a relationship that would warrant testing its efficacy, but as a scent, I can recommend it.

    Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo

This does not bring me joy. I know a lot of people love it and I wish I were one. On me, though, this turns into a nauseatingly fake strawberry -- in fact, it smells exactly like Strawberry Shortcake's plastic head. Burning.

    Treat #1

Tartly sweet crushed hard candies, from bottle to dry down. <3

    Crypt Queen

I should not like this. pomegranate - usually pomegranate is fine, so that's okay, but... raspberry - this always turns into cheap tree-shaped car freshener on me gardenia - hit or miss, no guarantee plum - I always want to love plum, but it rarely, rarely works. and rose - this is usually a death knell. Rose in anything becomes rose over everything; I amp it like whoa. with patchouli, black pepper, rose musk, and a hint of blood accord -- none of these work except in the rarest of blends.... But on me, this is sexy and fantastic. I love it; it is absolutely swoon worthy and it only gets better with age.

    TP'd Trees

I really didn't expect to like this one at all. I do not care at all for the scent of pine. Somehow, though, instead of being piercing and overwhelming, the pine manages to be gentle and a supporting note. Overall, I get a soft, sweet woodsy scent that I like quite a lot.

    Sugar-Slathered Candied Apple

I've always loved Creepy as a "makes me smile when I sniff it" scent and I was amazed at how accurately Beth caught the scent of a caramel apple. With SSCA, it's even more amazing. The scent is true from imp through drydown and the throw is great, not overpowering but definitely *there.* And it lasts an eternity on my skin. This scent makes me all kinds of happy.

    Egg'd Mailbox

When I first read the description, I thought someone would have to be absolutely mad to hope for this one. Sun-warmed eggs? Ew. Somehow I wound up with a bottle anyhow. And ... I love it. It's a sweet, soft, creamy, mild vanilla floral and it just sings on my skin. Does get odd looks, though, when I tell the name....

    Marshmallow Poof

In the imp: marshmallow goo. (I'm so not a foody -- why do I even HAVE this?) On drydown: play-doh. ::sigh::

    Spiked Punch

In the imp, it smells of bright red fruity rum punch - so fun! And it smells exactly the same on . . . for about an hour. After which, it become a soft, alcoholic powder that really doesn't suit me. Anytime I want to smell like a lush, though, I'll know what to stick in the scent locket!

    Where is this scent?

The name is actually Saint-Germain -- you're missing an "i" in your searching. It's in Bewitching Brews.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

I've smelled the illustrious madame on people whose can wear her. She smells amazing ... on them. Unfortunately, on me she smells exactly like Snake Charmer -- which is to say, "bad." Petroleum and sweat and powder. Ick. I wish I had the magic chemistry that makes snake oil and similar ones smell so amazing, but sadly, I don't. I'll have to comfort myself with my amazing box of workable scents.
  21. Despite the fact that Snake Oil doesn't work at all on me, I have some snakey favorites -- the ones you just listed, in fact, with the addition of Habu (I *adore* the bamboo note) and Asp Viper (it smells like a smoother, richer Queen of Sheba to me; almonds and spice). My suggestion is Boomslang, though. In the (unlikely) event that you hate it, it's very easy to find a new home for it, moreso than for many of the others. Once the carnaval leaves town, I expect Boomslang will be on the track to becoming like Snake Charmer as far as "things you should have tried while they were around and affordable."

    The Oval Portrait

I'm not typically a florals person. BPAL, however, has taught me that I wear lilies well and the vast majority don't go soapy on me at all. So I gave this a shot. I am so glad I did. This is a gentle, soft, comforting scent. I know that BPALdom is crazy after Black Lace, but I think so many are missing a treasure here. I love it. It's one of my "girly and proud of it" scents.

Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal

This is a fun scent. I bought a bottle based on the name and artwork alone. Between this and Vampire, I chose this because of the lack of a leather note. It's entertaining to know that should the whim strike me, I can smell exactly like a lily-gilded lemon cupcake.

    Haloes

Haloes is what taught me that I like the Lab's Lily of the Valley -- which does not go even vaguely soapy on me. This is soft and deep, not at all foody and just extremely classic. There's a nice, solid oaken base that upholds the whole. On that lovely base is a vanilla silk drape, thin and elegant and set above that, in a fine amber vase are the lilies, crowning and drawing together the whole picture. The sandalwood peeps through from time to time as a nice accent to the base, kind of counterpoint to the oak. I love, love, love Haloes and hope it will be around for ages. (Speaking of "ages," it appears to do that well, by the way.) I bought only one bottle because it's not something to wear in the summer months. The piercing winds of autumn and winter highlight the delicate nature of this scent. (By "delicate," I in no way mean "weak." This is a scent that announces its presence -- but in a ladylike, if firm, way.)

    Black Lace

I got my imp back out today because I was culling the herd, so to speak. When I uncapped it, I couldn't remember why I'd bothered to hang onto it this long -- it was sharp, floral, disappointing. I dabbed it on anyhow, even though today isn't exactly the best point in my cycle to be testing things. After a while, though, I remembered why I'd held onto it. On me, after about 10 minutes, it mellows to the softest, barely vanilla skin scent that honestly smells like silk feels: smooth, soft, decadent but clean. It has elements in common with Haloes, another of my loves, once it hits that all-important dry down stage. It's an elegant evening scent for certain. Thumbs up.
