  1. *waves wand* You Shall Have CnS!

    XD

Wow, fluctuating between insomnia and narcolepsy is not a good way to go through life. Yeah, I avoid sleeping pills because they make things worse. I think I've taken them once or twice.

I think we are lucky there are 2 of us so enabling is a lot easier. Most of them don't want my sniffies 'cause I'm more on the masculine/spicy side. They usually prefer my wife's BPAL with the florals and the citrus notes. LOL, yeah it's hectic at times. Of the orders I make, only one is a for another BPAL forum person. So usually the stuff I order for my coworkers is stuff they've sniffed, which means it's stuff we have already sniffed. But the forum person asks for stuff we haven't sniffed. And there are the frimps that we get to sniff too.

Oh yeah, my next order is going to have Banded Sea Snake on it. I've got a full and an almost empty bottle of Western Diamondback and am really into that, not sure if I should put one more back up bottle on around Aug when they go down or not.

Ok, gonna wander off and finish checking LJ. I've got your email out for the swap. XD

    Blessings,

    Alex

Hopefully the TKO will work for you. I fluctuate between insomnia and almost-narcolepsy. Some days I'm dead tired and my body refuses to sleep. Others, I'm so tired that I will fall asleep anywere and nothing I do keeps me awake. When my mind refuses to shut off the TKO really helps me relax and get to sleep (though it makes the dog hyper if he sniffs too much so be careful if you have pets). I avoid sleeping pills too because they leave me really sleepy and spacey the day after. But if I'm desperate....it's better than nothing.

So far, the only BPAL that has opened my eyes up wide has been Moon of Ice. Whoa! They need a Panacea for that. XD

So far I have failed miserably at enabling my friends, so my orders are erm *usually* on the small side. I can imagine that organizing that for all your friends would get a bit hectic, but that could be fun too. You get to sniff everything that everyone got instead of just your bottles.

I might be placing a large order in a few months if the Snake Pit works on me though, because it was love at first sniff for all of them!

I can't wait for my CNS! I ordered on 3/20 also, and would love to get my bottles now please?

    Good luck with the TKO!

  2. Thank you for your suggestion! I put some of the 5ml oil on order the other day so we'll see how that goes. If it works well I might have to consider the massage oil. I've always had insomnia and haven't found anything that works consistently and well. I don't like taking sleep pills.

XD We put another order in (non-TKO) on 21/3 and the CnS's are already up to 20/3. Hooray! That means we'll get our 21/3 order and then our TKO order. LOL, it will be unusual to only have the 2 bottle order when TKO comes. I've been ordering a lot for us and friends I've enabled. As nice as the large orders are, it was nice to just go in and make an order without worrying if I checked with everyone, had their orders right, etc.

Take care and thank you for stopping by,

    Alex

TKO works! I ended up ordering the TKO massage oil and rubbing some into my shoulders and arms before bed every night. It also lasts longer than the 5ml. Plus its good for massages.

And it relaxes me right away, letting me get much needed sleep.

  3. XD Thank you Parrot_suspect. He's starting to eat again. He used to eat a lot, was quite a porker in his younger days. They charged extra baggage when they flew him from San Francisco to LA, prior to flying him here. I know it's age, but it is hard to see someone you love so much gradually shed weight, then get the diagnosis of renal failure was really hard. I went into denial for a little while. I'm out of that phase and am learning the ins and outs of Freeway when he is feeling sick and Freeway when he is feeling better. I've learned the CRF kitty tricks of mixing water in his wet food and heating it up, of separating him to eat, of feeding him whenever he looks halfway interested in food. When he stopped eating I spoon and finger fed him smoked roe and canned food for a day, right after writing this blog, and he's doing better now.

We've picked up a digital bathroom scale and are daily weighing me, then Freeway (best 2 out of 3 kind of thing for accuracy as best we can). I know he'll have daily fluctuations but he's gone from 4.35 kilos on the 13th at the vet's to 4.55 on the 20th. Yesterday we made it up to 4.7!

I think BPAL needs a range of 'pet' scents, especially a "white light/energy for pet" scent. XD

Blessings and thank you for your thoughts and wishes,

    Alex

As a fellow cat lover, I wanted to send you my best wishes for Freeway; I hope he regains some appetite and energy. It is tough when a beloved pet is seriously ill. You never know, though; just when it seems like the end is near, they sometimes rally. This happened with a cat of mine who had diabetes and inflammatory bowel syndrome; he lived two years longer than we thought he would.

It sounds like you are taking wonderful care of your cat, and I'm sure he'd thank you if he could. XD

  4. XD Thank you Anne. After I posted this I was able to entice him to eat. We've bought a digital bathroom scale. It isn't entirely accurate but I weigh myself, then me with Freeway. We've been doing it the last few days and he is a bit up from last week. The vet gave us a couple things to help with nausea but one is a mint flavored liquid and he foamed at the mouth when we gave it to him. Since I was holding him next to my ear when we did that I got loud foamy kitty spit flung about. We're giving him his pills for nausea but not the liquid, which is fine because he does seem to feel a bit better.

It's been intense, stressful with Freeway and stressful at work. And stuff going on around here so it's not easy at times. I'll get through.

Thank you for your good thoughts. *hugs*

    Blessings,

    Alex

It's really important that Freeway eat. I even resorted to making Holly a tasty blend of plain yogurt, small pieces of cooked chicken, Fancy Feast and aluminum hydroxide; I'd throw it all in my mini-chopper to blend it.

Are you giving him anything to settle his stomach? It may be that he's nauseous all the time and that's affected his appetite. Another thing to check is his mouth. CRF cats seem to be prone to mouth ulcers; they're not hard to heal and they make it painful for a cat to eat.

Good thoughts to you and Freeway!

    Anne

  5. Hi, thank you for the encouragement! I'm typing this around Freeway, who's curled up on my lap XD He says thank you too.

Wow, sounds like it was intense with you trying to do your first set of fluids! I knwo how stressful it is for us humans, I think our kitties take it in stride (even when it does hurt them a bit). We do ok but have the odd problem.

LOL, my wife and I switch off and take turns. One of us sticks him and the other stands on a chair and holds the bag up near the ceiling. It gives us a break so one of us isn't always stressed from poking Mr 'Way. I'm going to have to start warming the fluid bag. It's the end of summer here and going to start cooling down. I understand he'll be more sensitive to the cold (especially with as skinny as he is). With as hot and humid as it's been I haven't wanted to start doing the warming yet. Freeway gets food after his treatment. He expects it now. I trained him to expect treats after having his nails trimmed so it's applied to his fluids too.

We aren't using anything in his food. ? I don't know if it's available here. He's become stubborn and now refuses to eat his kidney food. He's always been picky, goes off something after a few feeds. We offer him the kidney stuff but also have regular down for the other 3 boys. He's lost a lot of weight and at this point if he's eating I'm happy.

I'll check the Yahoo group, thank you.

I'm sorry to hear about Holly. XD I'm sure you made her life better and more comfortable. I love my 'Way. I brought him to NZ with me 7 years ago. I came first, he finished his tests and came over, went through a month of quarantine where I got to visit him. I take each day as it comes with him. Every day is a gift. They are all precious to us, each has their special place in our hearts. We used to say we had a deaf one, a 3-legged, a 1-eyed and Mr Way who was a foreigner (that was his difference). Now he's got his CRF.

XD Thank you for your comment and encouragement.

    Blessings,

    Alex

Hang in there! My cat Holly developed renal failure at the age of 19. The first time I gave her subQ fluids, everything went wrong - I dropped the needle on the floor, I didn't get the needle in right and the fluids went everywhere, she was scared because I was scared - but we got through it and it became almost routine.

A few things that I found that helped: bend a wire clothes hangar and make a hanger for the bag to go over the top of a door - if it's up high, the fluids flow faster. Warm the bag of fluids - I had a large 2 gallon freezer bag in which I would place the fluid bag; I would leave that sitting in a sink full of warm water for a few minutes so it was more comfortable for her. I also gave her a treat after each fluid treatment.

Are you using aluminum hydroxide as a phosphorus binder in his food?

If you haven't joined the Feline-CRF-Support group on Yahoo, I would advise you to do so. There are a lot of helpful people in the group, who are willing to give hints and advice.

Holly lived for eight more months, until her liver, not her kidneys, gave out. I'm sure the fluids made her more comfortable and extended her life.
