  1. Maybe I just have the right chemistry for this because the smell lasts forever in my hair. Like between showers and sweating at work long. I love cedar smells and it's not overpowering just this little wiff of incense and cedar. I'd buy more if I could afford it but alas.

  2. Review for the 2009 version:

In the bottle: Its smells like I suspect a kitchen would smell like while preparing for the celebration, food and florals with maybe a hint of the tobacco in the background.

Wet, on my skin:Sugary dough and florals, the florals really come out sharp on my skin then the smokiness of the tobacco comes peaking out again.

On drydown: Baked goods again with a dark chocolate like smell, the florals fade off and it is just the sweet smell of smoke and food. This is the first almost fully foodie smell that hasn't gone rotten on me and has honestly made me want to lick my own skin with it on.

  3. I just got a sample of this in from the Trading post with my Halloween order. To me it smells like either Sea of glass or Archangel of winter with a little more of a masculine edge to it. It's cold, but there is some that is cutting down on the sharp cold that those scents have and has more of the creaminess that tonka gives to scents for me.

All and all I very excited to get it and I'm hording away fro a special occasion.

  4. So it's almost con season again well in a few months anyway and I'm doing of yearly scent round up for our cosplay group. We're doing costumes from both Hetalia and One Piece, along with some DC cosplay mixed in.

From One Piece we're doing, Doflamingo, Crocodile and Shanks

From Hetalia, Denmark, Prussia and Ancient Roman

and in the DC corner of things, the original Trickster, the Pied Piper and Dr Alchemy.

Any and all suggestions would be great and thank you in advance for the help.

  5. One Piece cosplayer AHOY! So we and some of my con buddies want to do a one piece cosplay and were wondering if anyway has any suggests for the Straw hat crew? The main ones I'm looking for is something for Sanji, Zoro and Nami, but any of the others would be awesome too. They make such great con gifts after all XP

Man, I love One Piece! I have to give this a shot.

Zoro wouldn't be caught dead wearing any perfume but his own manly, manly musk, of course. So I definitely recommend something very earthy and musky. Off the top of my head? Al-Azif or Brown Jenkin. Black Pearl's another good one, and somewhat in theme.

Sanji can run towards foppish, so I definitely see him splashing on a little aftershave or something. Jolly Roger? Vicomte de Valmont as a runner up.

And any fragrance for Nami has to include oranges of some sort, right? Akuma might be good for that, or Blood Countess.

Actually got some of those and they worked wonderfully. Jolly roger though ended up being for another character from the series, but I'm not sure how far you gotten in the series so i don't want to spoil anything.

  6. Got this through a forum seller and shat a brick of joy because I had been looking for this one <3

In the bottle:Wood, fir needles and cedar I'm guessing.

    Drying:

warms up almost immediately. Smokey sweet and warm leather

Dry: the amber is coming out so it softens everything. Its warm and oddly comfort to the point if I had a blanket (or person) who smelled like this I would just wrap my self around it (or them). A masculine smell but not with a capital M. My skin likes this time of smells because it sucks up the musk so its not as male as it could be. More unisex for me.

  7. In the bottle: green herbs with cologne, a bit of a sharp bite to it which took me by surprise

Wet: strong, still very much a cologne, kind of comforting though because it reminds me of something my uncle use to wear. Masculine but in a warm way

Dry: Getting what smells like a man who's been spending a bit to much time in the labatory but still is warm and friendly when you disturb him. Very Victorian gentlemen like.

Summary: Masculine, warm and green. Not as long lived as Hyde (oh the irony) but still wonderful. I find in terribly ironic that both Jekyll and Hyde smell wonderful on me and that was one of my favorite novels and the good doctor was my favorite character in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. (part of the reason I bought them. )-chuckles-

  8. In the bottle:Cologne, a something else a little musky with a hint of leather (assuming this is a mix of the tobacco and musk)

Wet: same but on my skin there's a metallic tinge with a hint of the bourbon in an alcohol type smell. its almost sweet

Dry: Doesn't morph much from the wet form, if anything it gets sweeter and less bitter then some people describe, more of the tobacco but my skin cancels out the musk almost completely

Summary: Unlike the character's personality, the smell is sweet but dark, and cool more like the beast hidden within the kind doctor. Last a long time as well even with sweating at work.

  9. This may sound horrible deranged to some people both fans of the old World of Darkness and DC comics but some friend and I are doing a LARP were its various DC comic charactersas the various things of the world of darkness and I'm looking some help picking out smells.

Rorschach, the half crazed vigilante from Watchmen is a werehyena (Ajaba love <3) in our chronicle, looking something that has a dirty smell but also a bit viscious.

Dr. Jeremiah Arkham, a Malkavian with more issues besides an Asylum filled with the crazed undead, and later on in the story is actual the pawn of the Joker. He's from the Victorian age, so something with that feel to it but calm and subtle with something else lurking underneath it.

Kirk Langstrom (The one from The Batman cartoon if anyone's watched that), a Gangrel vampire and was a biologist and geneticist before he was turned. Has a strong connection with the winged creatures of the night. Something damp with a caveish smell or something like being outside at night.

  10. More to add to the DC Cosplay group, this time its all Flash rogues <3

Captain Cold :Something chilly with a bit of warm undertones perhaps.

Heat Wave: a scent that is hot and that mellows out a bit

Weather Wizard:Stormy smell needed, ozone and rain

Dr. Alchemist: Something a bit bookish

Captain Boomerang: leather would have to be a note in anything for him

Captain Boomerang Jr (Owen Mercer): Spices, clove smell to it

Mirror Master: Deceptive, not really clean...something that is well reflective in a way?

Trickster: Playful and a bit serious on the dry down is a needed

Trickster II (Axel Walker): A rowdy teenager smell,

Pied Piper: Calm and sweet with a light undertone

Golden Glider: Sweet but with some bite

The Top: something hypnotic, and commanding

  11. Ooh, Two Face. He's without a doubt my favourite Batman character. I think he'd wear something from the Lovecraft collection; something born of pure, screaming insanity. Nyarlathotep springs to mind. Or how about Old Scratch; it's certainly dapper and dangerous enough. And hey, he used to be a prosecutor :P Alternatively, you could always play up the tragic, melancholy side of his story with something faintly floral.

Black Canary is easy enough - try Whip. Rose and damp black leather.

:D Yes, I agree with Whip I have an imp of it and it hates me, so I'll more then likely fork it over to her. Hades was another I was thinking of for Harv because of the floral. <3

  12. I'm a casual lurker and sniffer, and I love how great you guys are for picking out scents for cosplay. I wondering if any of you have recommendations for the following characters from DC comics a group of friends and I are going to be cosplaying at a convention.

    The Joker

    Two-face

    Speedy/Arsenal

    The Riddler

    Question

    Redhood (Jason Todd)

    Nightwing

    Black Canary

    Huntress

    Oracle

    Robin

    Green Arrow

    Scarecrow

  13. I bought this one for a Hojo from Final Fantasy VII cosplay I'm doing in a few weeks.

Imp: Smells like the Elizabeth Arden Green tea prefume, but with less alcohol

Wet on skin: Aftershave, less green tea smell.

Dry: Mostly aftershave but still a little hint of embalming fluid there.

Mad scientist are love <3 I need more of this and my beloved Miskatonic University.

  14. This was one that a friend of mine suggested.

In the bottle: Chocolate rich and yummy

Wet: Same as in the bottle just a little weaker

Dry: The incense comes out with a bit of the chocolate no floral what so every which is fine with me.

  15. This one was my first pick out of the Lovecraft series.

In bottle:Coffee no boozy notes just coffee.

Wet: the wood came out on my skin but it's very nice most likely the dusty note is toning it down

Dry: The coffee is back but still not the main note making the oak smell very sweet.

5 ml worthy: Maybe not sure just yet.

I love it. I'm a bit of a book worm and hunting for a job at the local library where I live so this is perfect for my tastes.

  16. Falcor: blonde hair blue eyed mage. The calmer of the two brothers and the most serious of the two. Favors elemental magic based around ice or water for attack and healing magic. Sees the world in a more realistic view of the world. Symbol connected with him is usually the sun and a hawk

if you're up for LE, grab some Archangel Winter before it's gone! Alternately, Sea of Glass for GC.

Barkcon: Black hair green eyed mage. Hyper active with some trace of innocenece. Favors the elements of lighting and fire used mostly for attacking. Deeply devoted to his twin brother. Symbols usually connected with him are a snake and the moon.

Shango springs immediately to mind, Eclipse, or Lightning.

Ardawn: A red haired violet eyed mage. A mentor for the two younger twins. Uses mostly fire magic but only for defense. Very deeply connected to the world around him and a very peaceful soul. Symbols are usually a tamed fire and a salamander.

If you are in the mood for a hunt, there was a LE oil Salamander, but in the GC Chimera, Dee or Ogun would be my first thought.

Reday: a half demon with hair the color of ice and red eyes. Very shy and withdrawn creature, with a very deep love for Seth (see my first post here) who he sees as someone still attached to the old ways.

Magus, Xiuhtecuhtli or Jezirat Al Tennyn.

glad the earlier recs were helpful!

I have to say, I don't quite get the need for a scent to go with a character, but it could be that I have a lot of issues with certain scents (eg, anything even remotely floral, ozone/watery) so recommendations like "a Victorian lady would wear violet and rose" or whatever are fairly useless for me. I'd wear something I like, but that also reminded me of that character or what she would use.

Winterwind, I personally like it because it helps make the character more...concrete to me, you know? Smell is so evocative, I think it helps me as a cosplayer or roleplayer kind of get in the mood to BE someone else, to make that visualization extend to my concrete senses as well as my imagination. That being said, something that's accurate but really unpleasant and jarring to me isn't going to help do that, I'd be too busy thinking 'ew' or sneezing or being headachy to think character. So when I'm reccing for someone else or choosing for myself, I do like to know if nothing else, what makes them run the other way or cross themselves in horror :P

I LOVE YOU! I'm just ordered Archangel of Winter about a week ago!

  17. More RP characters from the Medieval role play because you guys did an amazing job with my last two:

First the twins, Barkcon and Falcor:

Falcor: blonde hair blue eyed mage. The calmer of the two brothers and the most serious of the two. Favors elemental magic based around ice or water for attack and healing magic. Sees the world in a more realistic view of the world. Symbol connected with him is usually the sun and a hawk

Barkcon: Black hair green eyed mage. Hyper active with some trace of innocenece. Favors the elements of lighting and fire used mostly for attacking. Deeply devoted to his twin brother. Symbols usually connected with him are a snake and the moon.

    And the rest:

Ardawn: A red haired violet eyed mage. A mentor for the two younger twins. Uses mostly fire magic but only for defense. Very deeply connected to the world around him and a very peaceful soul. Symbols are usually a tamed fire and a salamander.

Reday: a half demon with hair the color of ice and red eyes. Very shy and withdrawn creature, with a very deep love for Seth (see my first post here) who he sees as someone still attached to the old ways.
