  1. Definitely can detect the rose, cherry and carnation. The cherry note reminds me a lot of Black Phoenix, which luckily I love. Fairly soft and sweet without being cloying. Plays OK on my skin but strangely smells sour in my hair. I think this will have to be a locket scent.

  2. A sinful, licentious scent: self-indulgent and luxurious. Mingled heady civet and red Egyptian musk, thickened with opium.

This is something I'd be afraid to put on my own skin, but I think it could be *very* sexy on my man.

  3. Very sweet and chocolaty. Seems warm to me, probably from the toffee and caramel notes. You can definitely detect the hazelnut and pralines as well. Not something I would wear, as I'm not into bakery scents, but if you like chocolate, etc., this would be lovely.

  4. The amber is very prominent to me in this scent, as is the verbena. I know its not listed in the scent description, but I also get a bit of honey and apricot from this. Very warm and cheery. Nice, although I don't think I would wear this often.

  5. Who doesn't want a monster in their pants? Sexy sugar-smeared saffron sandalwood over lickable vanilla cream with a splash of butter rum.

Didn't try this on the skin as I only had a sniffie. OK, but ultimately not really for me. I can see how others would enjoy it. The butter rum is very nice and creamy, and not overpowering. The sandlewood helps mellow the blend out. One of the notes seems a bit sour to me--I'm not sure if its the saffron or something else.

  6. Surprisingly warm and comforting. This would be terrific on a cold winter day while wearing an oversized men's sweater. I only have tried it from a sniffy, but enjoyed what I tried. It reminded me of red hot cinnamon hearts a bit, but not in a cloying way. The tobacco wrapper note reminded me of my grandfather. The cinnamon bark is very prominent and the woods linger in the background. Overall, very nice. Not something I would wear every day but would be nice to have in the collection.

  7. My favorite BPAL scent so far (by far). Just lovely. Straight out of the bottle I get effervescent soda--like Cherry Dr. Pepper. As it ages it reminds me of the American Legion Hall my grandparents used to take us for diet cokes and "cheese fry" potato chips. They'd show us off to friends, let us sit at the bar or let us wander around the smoky interior. Its sweet, a little musty, but also clean, and reminds me of tobacco and smoke. As it dries further, I detect anise and the scent reminds me a lot of my mother--cigarette smoke and anise/licorice "breath mints" (Sen-Sens, made in Chicago) that she loves.

Odd associations, but overall a lovely fragrance. It works better for me in a scent locket than on my skin, where it can go sour.

  8. Received this as a frimp, but sadly not at all for me. I liked the color (darker red than usual) in the imp, but that was about it. I'd never smelled dragon's blood before, so I'm not sure if that disagreed with me, but I don't like vetiver at all and between that and the patchouli not a scent I wanted to risk trying on the skin.

  9. (2005 Edition): Absolutely delicious. I generally avoid sweet or bakery scents, but this one doesn't come across to me as too sweet at all. Very gingery, warm and dry. I like the cinnamon and clove notes as well. Smells as good on my skin as in the bottle and seems to have good staying power.

  10. I had high hopes for Hope, and she blended wonderfully with Faith, but on her own she just wasn't for me. The sugar overpowered the rose too much for my taste and unfortunately the scent ultimately reminded me of rose-scented play doh.

  11. At first sniff I was really surprised by how boozy it smelled. That finally gave way to sweet fruit and almond and more of a bakery scent. Well executed if you like foody scents, but overall probably not something for me. It actually reminds me a bit of Black Phoenix, which I love, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had some similar components.
