  1. Chaos Theory DCCCXLIII - 843

in the bottle - light and fresh. Nothing specific.

wet - OMG Orange peel and... what tastes like celery leaf. Extremely fresh and bright.

dry - less throw but still fresh. a bit more of the celerey leaf.

Delicious. Doesn't last very long but it's very nice.

  2. CX - 110

buttery, salty, popcorn. Not loud or harsh, but you can really taste the butter. A bit later a little caramel, sorta maybe flashes by. But only for a second then right back to butter. Not overpowering.

    Not staying

    CXX - 120

oh my. this is just lovely. It's just like being on the beach in Aruba, in the shade by a garden.

The florals are like New Orleans but not as pronounced or heady. Then the sea and sand come in. It's glorious.

    totally staying.

  3. Harlot (Ara Amatoria): no rose at all for me

Lucy's Kiss (Ars Amatoria): no rose either but other nice florals

Whip (Ars Amatoria): went right to cat pee

Zombi (Ars Moriendi): mud and no rose

Rose Cross (Sin and Salvation): on the list to try

Black Rose (Rappaccini's Garden): on the list to try

Two, Five, and Seven (Mad Tea Party) nothing. literally nothing.

Moscow has some nice rose in it.

  4. I cannot agree with Sophia_helix more about Severin. It's TART lemon- really wonderful. I adore it. Next, I'd say go for Shanghai, another of my favorites, because it has more lemon than tea (invert it for Phantasm).

I have to say Severin is a foul rubbery thing with no lemon to my nose at all.

I also find Phantasm to be far more lemony than Shanghai.

I think Embalming Fluid and Shanghai are quite similar, though I personally prefer Shanghai. It smells smoother to my nose, a bit thicker. Embalming Fluid smells thinner and cleaner. As for Phantasm, it was more jasmine on me than anything else.

I agree, Embalming Fluid and Shanghai are quite similar. Shanghai lasts longer on me though.

    Phobos is a delicious lemon.

I'm wondering about this Lustration stuff.

  5. 13 is very confusing for me. In the bottle I can just detect cocoa like tastes but it is overwhelmingly butterscotch. Extremely butterscotch. It starts out like pudding, cloying and somewhat burned to settle into thick butterscotch cake.

After a bit some apple pops up. Now I'm apple butterscotch cake.

Not what I hoped for at all. :P

and It wouldn't come off!!! Arrrgghh.

  6. In the Imp: sharp floral

On Wet: apple blossom, powdery rose with a bit of apple peel.

On Dry: powdery rose with a morph between rubbery rose and odd apple blossom

Drat, I was hoping for LEMON with Apple and some rose. No lemon at all. :P

  7. Wet and in the imp this reminds me of Farenheit, only better.

Dry it's having baby powder (blech) moments but the spiciness seems to be winning.

    medium to strong throw

It fades pretty quickly to a dusty Dragon's Blood still fighting the baby powder.

I think its for the scent locket.

  8. In the imp: it's sort of fruity and a touch floral sort of kind of.

    wet: hairspray fruity and bandaids

    dry: bandaids

I'm thinking the leather note isn't working here too well.

  9. This is actually only slightly minty for me. It's far more Piney and Woody than minty.

    Sad because I wanted Minty.

But I have to say it's a great wintery scent and I enjoy it for its own merits now, rather than what I was hoping for

  10. Where Screeching Parrot was Grapefruit punch on me, this one is Pineapple punch on me. I like it only slightly less than the Parrot and it indeed makes my mouth water.

The booze is a nice under note. Not harsh or alcoholly in any way. Most enjoyable.

  11. Victorian whimsy and piratical romance: a reluctant seaman’s chypre sloshed with a mix of bay rum, patchouli, amber musk, dark woods, tea rose, and red currant.

    I really like Frederic.

It starts out a bit salty headshop and woodsy but dries really nice. Everything rounds out into a somewhat pungent but delicious, complex scent.

I can't identify any specific notes after drydown but it lasts over 40 hours which for me is amazing. My skin eats everything.

Not an everyday wear but I will be wearing it often.

  12. I love this.

in the bottle: the core of a freshly crunched into candy apple. A macintosh or crisp winesap.

    wet: more of the same

dry: a little fuller and more rounded and the sweet of the candy coating comes up a bit more but it makes my mouth really water. I could still sniff it 10 hours later.

Man I need more of this!

  13. Two, Five, Seven

...er...are you SURE there are roses in this? Because that is not at all what I'm getting from this imp. In fact, I'm not getting florals at all. This is more of a tangy fruit than anything floral.

    Weird?

I got no rose at all as well. And this sounded so up my street. :D

just a sort of faint planty greenness.

    :P :D

  14. The essence of magickal enigmas and long-forgotten esoteric mysteries. Frankincense, rosemary, lavender, neroli, and lemon verbena.

This was an imp I got in a trade and I bought a bottle immediately.

I get Neroli with a rich lavender under note. It's completely consistent wet to dry. I absolutely love it.

  15. I am utterly baffled at my skin chemistry.

This does smell like evergreens ... but evergreens that are hidden underneath pineapple and coconut! What the heck? I smell like ninja evergreens are trying to sneak into Hawaii.

    Bizzare!

    LOL!

This was minty fresh pine in the vial and on first application. As it dried down it faded very quickly and went straight to Hawaiian Tropic suntan oil.

    Bizarre.

  16. OMG I just got this today.

Bright orange in the imp and on me right to delicious honey and orange.

It's not sickly sweet or anything , it smells like fresh oranges drizzled with fresh honey. I'm drooling. Not much throw but it's sort of sneaky rather than overpowering. And the spare drop I put on is holding up well. I love this!

    (do I need another bottle?????)

  17. Medieval romance and courtly love. White rose and soft resins.

I was so hoping for this scent as it's two of my favourites, rose and resin.

Sadly this had no rose at all for me. None. I barely smell a touch of frankincense and that's it.
I'm afraid it will have to move on.

    :P
