    Incantation

In the imp: This is the oddest thing. I get a big whiff of the produce department of a supermarket. Wet on skin: Really weird stuff going on here. Green and rotting at the same time. Both fresh and sour. Almost floral, yet kinda woodsy. This is a big ol' paradox. Drydown:I still am really confused. Lokking at the notes, I don't smell any of them in particular. It smells like a wet , rotting floral bouquet. Maybe a bit of woods too? It's sour, like some thing going bad or wrong. Overall: Weird. I don't know what to think. It's not really good though.

    Black Forest

in the imp: A super-duper dose of pine weighed down heavily by black musk. Wet on skin: Pretty much true to what I was smelling in the imp, but it goes a little sweet and sour. Not sure if this is for me. Really piney. Drydown: It goes a little sweeter and smoother, but it's still one hell of a dose of pine. It's very dark and I can see how this can represent a black forest very well. Overall: I like it as a scent experience, it reminds me of cold, dark winter nights. It's not going to work out for me as an everyday perfume though. I can still appreciate it a lot, and am happy I was frimped with it.

    Shanghai

In the imp: Mostly lemon. Yikes! Wet on skin: At first, I'm unsure about this. I'm not a big citrus fan, but there is something there that makes me keep sniffing my wrist. It might be the green tea because I don't know if I've ever tried a blend with green tea before. It's kind of mellow and sweet for a citrus, not lemon cleaning stuff smacking me in the face. Drydown: Very clean, light and bright. It got a lot prettier as the notes settled. This would make a good summer scent on a hot sticky day when perfume seems like it would be too much. This wouldn't. Overall: Typically not a scent I would love, but it's nice. Just the right amount of fresh and sweet.

    The Knave of Hearts

In the imp: sweet black currant. The first word to come to mind is definitely "tart". Wet on skin: Black currant with a sharp floral twist. Comes on a bit strong at first. I'm not sure how I feel about it but it definitely feels different and darkly sweet. Drydown: The sweetness seems to come though more and it gets prettier, deeper and a slight bit creamier. I like it. Overall: I like it. It's not going to be an evryday scent, and I don't know if I'll need a bottle, but I like it.

    Wolfsbane

Notorious for its properties for protection against werewolves and curing lycanthropy, this nefarious plant also has a fine history of use as a virulent poison. Clasically, Medea employed it in her many works of vengeance. This concoction of ours has none of the lethal qualities, but still personifies all of the herb's dark history beautifully. In the imp: Either leather or vetiver, or maybe a combo of both. Sharp and brown and dark. Wet on skin: Still very leathery and sharp. Not something I would go for. Drydown: It gets a bit richer, muskier and sweeter but also smells a slight bit like dirt and rot. It's kinda sexy actually, but in a way that I could get sick of quickly. I don't care for it on my own skin, but if I met a guy wearing this I would think he's all dark and mysterious and be intrigued. Overall: Not for me, but I am glad I got the chance to smell it. It's definitiely interesting.

    Yew-Trees

in the imp: The first impression I get from this is actually of pie. Maybe like a rhubarb pie. Wet on skin: That changes quickly to a fresh green woodsy scent. I get a weird feeling of coconut from it though. Like a coconut in the woods. Drydown: Now it's more masculine, a little sexier. I think I would go crazy if I smelled it on my bf's neck. Masculine slightly musky woods. Overall: Not for me, but I want to slather it on my guy!

    The Isles of Demons

In the imp: Strong floral, although I can't make out any distinct notes. Wet on skin: Much more lush and green. A very sweet jungle type scent. Like you've walked into a greenhouse with a lot of brightly colored, exotic flowers. Very pretty, and kind of dark at the same time. Like the flowers could be full of poison if you breathed in too deep, but they are so beautiful that you just can't help yourself. Femme fatale flowers Drydown: The only bad thing about this scent is it is gone way too soon. Within about two hours it was gone. Maybe I will try it on again with extra moisturized skin. Overall: Subtle, yet beautiful. This would be a good scent for work or a family gathering, or even a hot weather scent, as I don't think it has the potential to be very offensive to anyone.

    Melisande, The Puppet Mistress

This is another one of those cases where I hesitated, took a chance, and should have just stuck with my first instincts. Jasmine and I rarely get along. I was hoping maybe the vanilla bean would smooth it out a bit, but nope. In the bottle: Soapy jasmine. It kind of smells like baby wipes. Baby wipes dipped in jasmine. I think I've had this happen before, when the violet turns soapy. Hopefully it will smell better on skin. Wet on skin: I got teased for a second there, in which the violet came forward in it's pretty floral form. Then the jasmine beat it back down into submission. She can be such a bitch. Now all I get is strong jasmine. REALLY strong jasmine. The soapy thing starts to come back a bit too, but it's mostly harsh, loud jasmine. Drydown: It all vanishes into soft nothing within about two hours. I'm left with a trace of a creamier, muskier, sweeter floral. I think this is the jasmine that I have smelled on other people. But on me it's a ghost of the party that jasmine crashed. The aftermath where everyone is passed out and the sun is coming up, and you're thinking, "My house is trashed. Damn that jasmine for making such a mess." Overall: Like I said above, jasmine and I rarely get along.

    The Organ Grinder (2006)

In the bottle: Almond and a candy like note. Kinda reminds me of italian rainbow cookies, which I love. Wet on skin: Hmmm, kind of reminds me of a mixture of root beer and real beer. Maybe that's what sarsaparilla smells like? It's not quite as almondy as I would like. The almond seems to be hiding a bit. The tobacco and pine are coming forward too, the pine stronger than anything else. Drydown:First it smelled like a musty mothball smell. It kind of smells like feet now. Like feet that have been walking around all day, and someone just took their shoes off so said feet can breathe. I've heard some people comment on milk notes that smell sour, this might be what that is. I might have to go wash this off. Overall: Started out promising, and then all the death notes didn't want to stay nicely mingled with everyone else. Oh, I had high hopes.

    Eau de Ghoul

In the bottle: Rich, wet soil Wet on skin: Dirt and soil, lush green. Not a scent I typically enjoy. Really, truly earthy, and I mean EARTHY! Like wet soil all the way through. Drydown: The spices come through a bit, so now it's wet soil with cinnamon and clove sweetening and spicing it ever so slightly. They are still way in the background behind the dirt note. Overall: This is the scent of walking through a forest in the autumn after it has rained. Very green, very soil, very damp. It could also smell like a basement if your basement is full of mold. I'm sure there are a ton of people who will appreciate this scent more than I. I appreciate it's uniqueness, but do not appreciate it on my skin.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

This is another new favorite. I freaking love this! In the bottle: Deep, rich red musk and patchouli. Wet on skin: Rich, thick, resiny, incensey beauty. The musk and patchouli are in the forefront, while the plum and pomegrante provide a heavy veil of lush intoxication and the vanilla sweetens it up a bit. OMG this is incredible. Dark and sexy. It reminds me of a dark, smoky nightclub filled with pouty, spooky gothic beauties. So sultry and naughty. I want to go out and seduce someone wearing this. This will be my new go-to scent when I'm out dancing. A true femme fatale scent. Drydown: It gets sweeter and richer, but the scent for the most part stays true. The vanilla comes forward a bit more. Overall: If you have not tried this yet, BUY IT NOW! You NEED a bottle, trust me!

    Miss Lupescu

In the bottle: I can smell a musky liquid amber. Amber in bottles and imps smells very golden and a little more harsh to me, but amber on my skin smells a little softer and sweeter. I get the harsher golden smell here. It's a bit woodsy and resiny too. Wet on skin: There is no trace of musk or amber here. I just get strong, sweet, gorgeous almond! I have never sniffed or worn a Bpal almond like this. It's sweet and sugary like an almond cream pastry filling. Delicious! Drydown: What a morpher! This phase is good but a little sad too. This now smells like a younger sister to Black Lace and Lilith Victoria, which is wonderful! It's got the same feel despite not having similar notes. There is a sense of a dark, sultry vanilla here, it's very creamy. Strong on the musk here too, which makes it very sexy, not what I was expecting. The overall scent is soft and faint though. I would reccommend this to anyone who has missed out on Black Lace or Lilith Victoria. However, this phase is very temporary, as this particular oil does not have the strength, throw, or staying power of the other two. It makes my heart soar, then dissapears and leaves me longing for it to return. Overall: Beautiful, I will be wearing this frequently. I definitely love it!

    Manila

In the imp: tropical, bright , fruity. Wet on skin: OOh! Bananas! this is probably the first bpal banana I have encountered. It's done really well. I get a definite sense of hot, lush tropics with this one. It's a paradise kind of scent. It's really nice, great as an atmosphere type scent, would be lovely diffused into a room. Especially in the Summer. It's got kind of a creamy feel too. Drydown: It reminds me a bit of Lady Una or Hony Mone. The leaves mixed with something sweeter perhaps? It feels a little drier, yet kinda syrupy sweet and golden. Still really pretty. I KNOW WHAT IT REMINDS ME OF! A Sex on the Beach cocktail! Overall: This was definitely one I would reccommend checking out. Maybe not one I need a bottle of, but I can see myself running the imp dry. It's worth testing out for the idea-into-fragrance factor. A great representation of a tropical jungle paradise.

    Ogun

This, to me, smells like when the men in my family drink or smoke too much and try to cover up the stink with too much spicy cologne. It reminded me solely of that. I get the tobacco and juniper, but none of the melon or honey that others seem to notice. I really don't like this one, in fact it may be my least favorite of all bpals. It's very masculine, not the slightest bit of female in here. Really strong too. Constant throughout wet application thrugh dry stages. There's not much more I can say about it. Old, manly cologne. It's not even the kind of scent that's too masculine for me, but I might like it on my guy. Nope, wouldn't even like it on him. I'd probably ask him to wash it off. This one doesn't rate high with me at all.

    White Rabbit

I was hoping for something similar to Dorian with this one. I was very dissapointed. In the imp: I get such a weird feel from this. It's like boozy tea. It reminds me of a bar. I have no idea where that comes from. Wet on skin: Strongly smells of a teabag. Like I have a teabag in front of my nose. My first experience with tea was in Famine, and I decided then that I disliked tea very much. Then I smelled Dorian and changed my mind. This is the same famine tea. Yuck. I get nothing but tea. Drydown: It softens, but I don't get cream or honey or vanilla from this at all. It does get *slightly* sweeter, but not any better to me. I'm really dissapointed, this is not what I expected. Overall: Not for me.

    Verdandi

In the imp: Sour green apple. Uh -oh. I'm nervous. Wet on skin: Any bit of sour is gone and this turns to fresh, crisp, juicy apple. It's got a very similar feel to Snow, Glass, Apples, but while that felt "cold" this feels still very fresh and green. Drydown: This is a very close relation to SGA. It's not as strong, but it definitely seems to have the same apple, with a sexy edge like SGA has. I can see myself wearing this frequently in the Spring/Summer. It's got a bit of a spicy depth to it too that comes out later in the drydown. Very nice! Way later on: The spice just blossoms on this one. It gets sexier and spicier as time passes. The apple now is more of a background note. Overall: I'm a fan, and I would reccommend this to any SGA or apple fans, or fans of spice.

    The Lady of Shalott

In the imp: Strong, fresh floral, slight sharpness. Wet on skin: This is a floral that I can get used to. It's so very close to a perfume I used to love long ago that is no longer made. It's sexy in a clean, wet skin kinda way. Drydown: The perfume that I thought I could get back is gone, but it is still very pretty. I definitely get the water blossom notes from this. It's just lovely. It's a very, very pale blue to me. It reminds me of a water nymph. Overall: A beautiful , different kind of floral that is perfect for me. I don't normally like typical florals but this is very unique. ADDED May 31: In the imp: Fresh, clear gardenia and lily. A very "wet" scent. Beautiful bright white floral. Wet on skin: Very light, gorgeous floral. I'm not a big floral person, but this is divine. It's still got that wet feel, like a calm, crystal-clear lake with water lilies all across it. It's exactly as the lab's description implies. Drydown: This fades fast. Sweet trace of gardenia lily on my wrist. A ghost of a water lily. Overall: This is a perfect summer scent, not too heavy, lovely, clean and fresh. A wonderful floral for those who don't enjoy heavy florals. Magnificent.

    Wrath

I expected to despise this. While my reaction wasn't the extreme opposite, it's not terrible. In the imp: Spicy, definite dragon's blood presence, feels very "red" Wet on skin: More cinnamon than I expected. It's a little plasticky though. The spices temper the dragon's blood, which I didn't think was possible because I amp the heck out of dragon's blood. It usually takes over and destroys all else. But here, it's not quite as strong. Drydown: It's still spicy, but it's like atomic fireball spicy. It's the fragrance equivalent of a spicy dish that's too much heat and not enough flavor. It's not bad, it's just a lot of spice and maybe not as much depth as I would have liked. Overall: Not terrible. I do like spicy scents, but this was perhaps nothing but spice. I'll probably try it again, maybe I'm just not in the mood for it today.

    Aglaea

In the imp: Fresh, bright and fruity. Wet on skin: I get a lot of golden, dewy peach juice out of this. It's very pretty. Vibrant and alive. Drydown: It gets richer and sexier. Exceptionally sensual. Sexy like peach juice drubbling down your neck, and a hot guy beside you to lick it up. Yum!! Overall: This will get a lot of wear from me. I can't wait for my guy to smell it, I think he's gonna love it.

    De Sade

This will probably be the shortest review i've ever written. De Sade smells like leather. Real, true, saddle up and ride leather. In the imp, wet on skin, and in the drydown. Absolutely leather. This is good news for those of you who like the smell of leather. I definitely do not. I applaud the creation of this scent because it definitely suites it's namesake. However, I will not be wearing this again.

    I need more Cherry!

My personal faves are less cherry blossom and more sexy, dark, seductive cherry. The two I drown in most are Blood Kiss and Midnight Kiss.

Berry Scents - Blackberry, Red Berries

My two most favoritest berries are Bewitched and Lady Una. Bewitched is a dark, sexy berry while Lady Una is a sweet, yummy berry. I have tried Glasgow and while it is undeniably blackberry, it's a little too herbal/floral for my tastes.

    Discussion of all things Amber

Yes! For me It takes a lil while longer to get there, but when it does, it's sweet amber heaven.

    Rapture

In the imp: Sharp floral Wet: OMG Jasmine! This is a problem I have with most anything containing jasmine. It amps like crazy and smells too sharp, kinda like someone sprayed too much heavy perfume in a public restroom. Jasmine and I are not friends. Drydown: Luckily, the jasmine tires out and the rose gets a chance to make itself known. Now it's actually kinda pretty. I do very much like Bpal's roses. It's a very sexy, sweet rose. If it only didn't take a few hours of yuck to get here. Overall: It's a shame, because the drydown is gorgeous, but the initial hours of this on me are kind of agonizing. Stupid jasmine.
