  1. Love at first sniff. This is a sweet, cinnamony forest. Finally, I've found a cinnamon blend I can wear- it's sweet and lovely, but not the sickening stickiness of the other ones. It actually smells like cinnamon rather than cinnamon candy. There are some florals here but they're soft ones and they don't dominate. I thought I'd found my ultimate feminine forest scent in Hexennacht, but this is giving it a run for its money- they're absolutely nothing alike, but they fill that quota in their own unique way. :P

  2. This is heady, warm incensed roses. Definitely get a 'head shop' vibe from this, and the rose is going soapy and sharp on me, which it usually doesn't. A shame, because it was rather pretty in the imp. This is DEFINITELY a womanly scent, and a nighttime one. It's strong and has a lot of throw. It's actually kind of throttling, and I didn't put on that much.

  3. Overwhelming sticky butterscotch in the imp, slightly spiced creamy rum on drydown. I recognize this on other blends (at least I think I do) like Spooky. I love the rum component so I love this! :P Not too hot on how it smells wet, but the drydown is fabulous! It's sweet but not sickly so.

  4. This starts out as sickeningly sweet grape bubblegum- wowza!

On my skin, it quickly morphs into the smell of a petting zoo with clove and a faint whiff of the bubblegum. Clove and bubblegum? Awesome. Petting zoo? Not so much. This isn't a winner on me, and I'm sad because I'm forever searching for the perfect scent with a strong clove component.

  5. This is so wonderfully tropical :P I smell primarily soft, slightly exotic flowers, over the pineapple/mango type fruity base and ginger. My skin seems to eat the fruits more and more as it dries down, but it's still really nice. Much sweeter in the bottle than on me.

The little squishy brain toy is so gross yet adorable!

  6. This doesn't smell much different on my skin than it does in the bottle. Very, very, very, light, almost impossible to smell, it's red-smelling musk topped with a sprinkling of coconut. Predictably, this is similar to Black Pearl, but without the suntan lotion vibe that Black Pearl can have, and also without the strong floral component.

On drydown, something very slightly woody smelling comes out. Is that the orris? *has no clue what orris is*

I like it a lot but I just wish I could actually smell it! It's actually sort of sexy, in an extremely soft way, and reminds me of something else besides Black Pearl...will update if I figure it out. It's quite pretty and amazing if you're looking for a skin scent that doesn't actually smell like skin. This will be excellent for the summer, since it partially has the 'vibe' of heavier scents but none of the potential to overwhelm you.

Overall, a very light but extremely well-blended, sensual scent.

[edit] I've figured it out! AH! Something in here in a very strange way reminds me of my beloved aged Velvet, once it dries down completely.

  7. This smells like a more earthbound Empyreal Mist. I suppose they could be part of the same forest- Empyreal Mist is the gentle, pale, slightly dewy air above the treetops, and Bewitched the ground view, with the same air, but add a breath of berries and something very slightly earthy.

The blackberry becomes more prominent as it wears on the skin, so if you are a fan, this is the blend for you.

Pleasant, but not bottle-worthy, especially since I already have a bottle of Empyreal Mist.

  8. Forest on a rainy day indeed. If you take Skadi's forest, melt the snow, get rid of the berries, and add some light herbal-floral components- you get Dublin. The pine is definitely prominent. I was hoping I'd like this enough to buy a bottle since I can't find a bottle of Skadi that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but alas, it seems we are not meant to be. Whereas I could wear Skadi comfortably, this is a too masculine for me. It's absolutely gorgeous and captures its "scent experience" perfectly, but the scent itself (mainly because of the pine) is just too manly for me.

As it dries, the pine mellows and it's much more wearable, but still a touch too masculine for me. I may try layering it with some complementary scents like florals (I think Beltane in particular would be fantastic!)

[edit] I have to add that this stuff has CRAZY THROW! WOW! I didn't apply much and I have 4 other fragrances on now, and this is wafting up to my nose well above everything else.

  9. In the bottle this just smells like a BPAL floral..reminiscent of many catalogue blends. On my skin, it blooms into something much more crisp, fresh, and unique- it reminds me of New Orleans without the dampness. I'm horrid at identifying individual flowers, so I can't help there! Overall it's a very spring-y, crisp green floral. It has a lot going on, so the smells morph a lot, but the "vibe" stays the same throughout.

  10. This is like Chaste Moon without the butterscotch, less sweet and more incensey. I only smell a wee bit of the strawberry. It's quite strongly sweet in the bottle but really mellows out on my skin. It's pretty, but I'm not enamored. I'm glad I didn't get a second bottle of either this or Chaste Moon now because they're similar enough to satisfy me :P

  11. Good lord, this is STUNNING! OMFG! *swoon*

It's herbs and pine in the bottle, a little offputting, but the reviews sounded pleasant so I put it on. It morphed into this absolutely gorgeous scent of pine, some bonfire smoke (but not too much), and a honey type sweetness that saves this from being too earthy/manly. It's absolutely perfect for its description and it's sad that this was only available on the site for a few days! I made a post asking for recommendations about foresty scents for women..well, this fits the bill 120%.

Oh, and the label is just darling with the little witches hat underneath the name :P

  12. Whoa, Casanova is one MANLY scent. The most masculine smelling BPAL I've ever tried..reminds me of commercial men's cologne but, of course, vastly superior. For some reason, when a blend gives off a "men's cologne" vibe I have a really hard time picking out individual notes, but what I smell the most is lavendar, bergamot, and leather. Some tonka bean comes out as it dries but mostly it stays pretty similar. Tonka is my favorite note and makes me wish SO badly that I had someone to slather this on!

This would be a good blend to use to try to convert some of your BPAL-skeptical menfolk.

  13. This is so beautiful, and one I'd never expect to like.

I smell primarily aquatic lilies, and in the background a faint undertone of woods and a VERY slight hint of an earth smell. This smells crystalline, clear, and lovely, yet very natural. It's like the most pristine beautiful pond and the surrounding scenery. The "color" impression I'm getting is ivory flecked with an earthy forest green.

  14. This is definitely my favorite of the new scents, and it was one I'd just ordered for shits and giggles, thinking it'd be a wee bit too masculine. No way!

This is a tropical floral, but a sexy one. The tobacco leaf and rum add some depth and spice to this. I hesitate to actually call it a floral because it doesn't smell too flowery or make my nose itch, it just this lovely feminine oomph that mingles beautifully with everything else. This is so perfect for summer with the sort of sexiness that one usually associates with "winter scents."

This actually sort of reminds me of a Carribean version of Perversion..maybe a sister. This isn't as smoky or murky smelling as Perversion but it is also less sweet and syrupy.

    In one word: AWESOME.

  15. At first: This smells like a baked peach dessert. I smell the crust and the peach and it's quite buttery. No pumpkin, no spices, nothing I wanted out of this scent.

Later: Stays the same but the nutmeg and clove peek out. I like it a little more now and it's smelling more autumn-y than dessert-y.

After that, it fades into nothingness. Alas, not a bottle and I'm unsure if I even want the imp. what a disappointment :P stupid peach!

  16. This..is..so..unbelievably..creepy. I'd wanted to try it but never saw myself ordering an imp- well, problem solved, I got a gimp of it :P

I smell anise and earth in the imp. On my skin, it stays the same way, but a weird sort of..rotting musk smell comes out that very VERY VERY VERY much reminds me of decrepit elderly. The anise just enhances that effect. The imagery that this inspires is frightening. Quite appropriate for a hag, I must say! This is one of those "scent experiences" that the lab is so good at producing, but unfortunately it's not a pleasant one.

  17. This reminds me of Velvet...my bottle Velvet, the one that doesn't smell a damn bit like my imp and is all myrrh-iffic. Except I actually like this better. It's all salty, weathered woods and spice. I definitely smell the sandalwood and frankincense, and to a lesser extent the patchouli. I'm not going to buy a bottle but I always figured this scent would be a total stinker on me- not so.

  18. This is so pretty. In the imp I smell honeyed figs..on my skin, it remains the same, but a wee bit of patchouli and clove comes out. The patchouli doesn't smell like patchouli or really announce its presence in any way, it just grounds the blend a bit more along with the clove. I only get a wee bit of ylang ylang which makes this smell a little more feminine and sweet.

This does smell foody, or sort of craft store-y, but in the most beautiful way. I'm not sure if I want a bottle or not but this was certainly worth the imp!

  19. This is hands-down my favorite rose scent, and I'm not much of a rose person. It's all creamy, lovely, warm, very slightly spiced rose, but not an in-your-face rose. I'm used to rose scents making my nose itch and screaming at me but this was a lovely, sweet, not-too-rosey rose. It's a very excellent spring fragrance, I think.

  20. In the bottle this was all iris with a teensy bit of hazelnut and an even more wee amount of coconut. On my skin, it was the same, with slightly stronger coconut (my skin likes to grab that note and run with it, which I like. I just wish it ran more here.) It was still primarily iris and that's not really my thing. I will have to age it and see if the coconut gets stronger.

  21. In the bottle, I smell the bourbon primarily.

On my skin...WHOA, pure baby powder! Man, I've never had a scent do this to me before. If I sniff close enough, I can catch whiffs of mint and bourbon, which makes this interesting baby powder so I like it anyway.

  22. Light, herbal, and floral in the bottle. It actually sort of reminds me of a natural version of sunblock.

On the skin, it remained pretty much the same, except some tonka peeks out on drydown. I don't have a clue what sage and sweet pea smell like, so I can't comment on the strength of either of them individually, but the 'unfamiliar' notes are the dominate ones. Musk and tonka are what I bought this for, but they take a back seat.

It's rather powdery but not in a bad way. I like it but I'd like it a whole lot more with more tonka bean.
