    Lilac!

I got a lot of lilac from Nocturne, but it was soapy lilac, not fresh.
  2. Nyx is like Old New Orleans with a little added sweetgrass.
  3. Try Pele, Alice, Swank and Bon Vivant. Good luck!

When you need something comforting or cheering

Midnight. It is a deep, blue sigh.

    What Scent Is This?

    My Mata Hari is orange.

    Hellcat

I just don't play well with this one. To me it smells like Christmas potpourri-cinnamon, cloves, spiced fruit... Just not something I'd want to smell like.

    Chuparosa

A gift from the lab, this one caught me off guard. On me it is mostly honeysuckle, stem and all. The scent of sweet nectar supported by fresh green notes. It realy does remind me of a capricious hummingbird flitting around a flower garden. This one is an unsung treasure!

    Penitence

pkwench, I concur. This fragrance positively glows. I have been searching for the perfect incence-y scent and this is it. How these two simple ingredients can be so inspiring, I do not know. It is sweet, lies close to the skin, and makes no "headshop" suggestion at all. I find it less sharp than Cathedral, a bit more feminine. Words fail me. I need a big bottle.

    Xiuhtecuhtli

OMG, this is...Perfect. Cream and fruit dries down to light wafting incence and edible flowers. It seems like it would taste good, but it's not foody, if that makes sense. Very sensual, bright, and unique.

    Decanted...tarted up...

    Thanks, Penance!

    Decanted...tarted up...

I keep seeing this term, tarted imps. What does tarted mean? I apologize if this has been discussed elswhere.

    Hymn

I love BPAL's church inspired scents, and this is no exception. it is a light resiny floral that is warm and blends well with my skin. Might be needing a big bottle....

    Alice

I liked this one right away. It is innocent, but not too much so. It is sweet and familiar, but not boring. On me it is rosebud tea with milk. Delicious.

    Blown out candles

Hmm. I'll have to keep an eye out for the Gypsy Queen reviews.
  15. Bewitched has just a bit of musk, but is mostly fruity.

    Blown out candles

Thanks, I have an imp of Darkness on the way! I'm glad you all did not think this request was too weird!

    Sudha Segara

I will start by saying that I cannot say enough good things about Sudha Segara. A dreamy idea, an exotic name, and a beautiful scent. I don't like scents that are too far removed from the natural smell of skin. This manages to be warm and sweet without being too cloying or foody. It is milky, creamy and comforting with a touch of the exotic. It can be worn every day, and seems unexpected in any situation.

    Perversion

I feel like Perversion is in the same family as O and Le Petit Mort. O is the sweetest, Perversion is more sultry and smoky, and Le Petit Mort is in the middle. They all have that sort of warm quality that blends with the skin. Perversion has a leathery, spicy, feel but the spice is sweet enought to be feminine. All in all, a very enjoyable scent.

    Lorelei

I used to work in a boutique that sold gauzy cotton clothing, jewelry, and bath products from all over the world. When people came into the store, they would ask what the fragrance was that they were smelling. In reality, it was the scent of the wood floors and shelving mixed with the light scent in the air of perfumed bath products. This oil smells just like it, and takes me back to that lovely place.

    L'artisan Parfumeur translated to BPAL?

The first one has linden, lemon, and orange blossons with jasmine and tuberose. Somehow it all combines to be very beachy. The second has wild blackberry, musk, and citrus, but it is not fruity at all. I thought Bewitched would be similar but alas no.

    Queen of Sheba

I wore this to work and as I was sitting at my desk, the maintenance guy walked by, smelled the air, smiled and said it smelled like someone was baking oatmeal cookies. I thought that was really cute.

    Delight

I have been wearing Delight all day. I could live in it. It smells like vanilla and musky florals. I don't think vanilla is actually in it, but that's how it turns on me. It's sexy. It's exotic, but sweet. Love it!
  23. I second Hemlock and also Old Katmandu seemed Christmas-y in the going to church sort of way-it reminded me of chrch incence.

    Nine Mysteries

I'm sorry, but this just turns to paint thinner or turpetine or something on me. It's too bad, because I love minty fragrances.
