  1. In the imp - rose, jasmine and just a hint of mandarin. A lot nicer than I was anticipating! I was expecting the musk and myrrh to jump out at me, but this is very pleasant!

Wet - Ahhh here we go, the spicy musky myrrh has brutally pushed it's way to the front. Spices and musks are definitely amped on my skin.

Eventually this morphs into a sandy rose. Dusty, musk drenched roses in the desert! Nice, but musks are not too good for me.

  2. In the imp I get a wet, murky and slightly sharp impression. Not a whole lot of mint or violet yet. I can smell them in the backgroung, but it's very faint.

Wet it reminds me of a dirtier, less floral Bayou. I see Bayou as a relatively clear body of water with cypress knees and flowers, which Faeu Boulanger is the dark and dirty depths of the swamp, if that makes sense. Still no mint, but the violet is getting a little braver and is starting poke out.

After a while the sharpness returns. Very pungent too. Slightly soapy sharp, swampy decaying florals in a hot bog. Very interesting indeed! A nice and nifty scent, just not so much my style.

  3. In the imp - this is unique. It brings back memories of something that I just can't quite remember. Just a familiar vibe I guess, but absolutely enchanting. Dark and green without being overly so.

Wet something starts going a bit sour, slightly reminiscent of nail polish remover.

Thankfully that sour stage goes away pretty quick, but it is still sharper and darker than in the imp. After a bit the sharpness fades as well. Overall this is a nice, dark green floral for those who don't like florals.

  4. In the imp I get eucalyptus and mint with a very faint hint of florals.

Wet it starts going rather chemically scent on me. Only a very very faint and tiny hint of possibly flowers, but only if I huff at it for a while.

After a while that clinical scent starts to fade and the tease of flowers starts blooming. It's now a eucalyptus and slightly floral soap scent on me.

  5. In the imp - heavy on the papaya with a hint of gin. I was really hoping for the kick ass blueberry but so far none to be found.

Wet it reminds me of what it tastes like when I'm eating skittles. (I like to pair up the different colors so I get a nice tropical fruit blend!) Mainly lemon grass and papaya. The gin takes a backseat, which I'm pleasantly surprised about!

Wait! Blueberry! I decent a wafting of blueberry goodness from my hand! Wait wha....as I sniff, there's no blueberry. I have phantom blueberries! I keep getting these little teasing whiffs of blueberries but upon closer sniffage it disappears!

After a while this turns super duper sweet. Like I could almost get a toothache from sniffing this sweet. Luckily this stage doesn't last too long, and afterwards it's followed by a lovely light scent. Now it smells like a creamy blueberry and papaya mix with a little extra zing. And as I typed that last sentence I realized that that is indeed what it's supposed to smell like. This smells like what a tropical sunset would look like to me. All bright yellows and oranges streaking a clear blue sky over the water.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with this. I eventually get some mixed blueberry goodness and while the gin note is there, it's never crazy strong. However after it reaches what I think of as it's ideal phase, it's almost dwindled down to nothingness. I agree this would need to be slathered often. I'm not sure if I'm going to hunt down a bottle but I will definitely be making use of my decant :P

  6. In the imp - a very masculine scent, to my nose. Heavy on the patchouli and frankincense.

Wet it becomes softer almost immediately. Not quite feminine, but it's definitely downgraded from masculine to unisex. Not as sharp and biting as in the imp, but still heavy on the incense vibe.

After a while it's just a musky incense, which for some reason is giving me a slight headache for some reason. A few hours later and it's still a heavy incense scent, but the sandalwood has been slowly taking over as the front note.

A great scent if you enjoy incense and musk in my opinion. I get a dusky red color association with this as well, almost the color of dried blood. Not to be gross, just that kind of burnt red/brown shade :P

  7. In the imp it's exotic and spicy, and I had a bit of a hard time distinguishing the notes. Definitely has a warm, sandy feel to it.

Wet it's musky. After a few up close sniffs, I find it slightly reminiscent of the shavings we used to line our guinea pig's cage with. Not in a bad way though! Fresh and clean and slightly musky. I guess that's the sandalwood taking over.

After a while there's been little change, with the saffron moving up to the front with the amber and musk with the sandalwood kind of in the back. I don't get any rose or nutmeg in this at all. The longer I have this on, the more the sandalwood takes over. After a few hours it's almost entirely musky sandalwood with a background of spice.

Overall a very nice blend, exotic, warm and musky, and orangish-golden colored in my mind. However it's a bit too much musk for my personal taste.

  8. In the imp it smells delightfully fruity!

Wet it smells exactly like jelly beans! This scent reminds me of Easter, because we always get those big things of Jelly Bellies for Easter, so it's bringing back good memories.

After a bit it dries down but it keeps that fruity sweetness, but not like jelly beans anymore. It smells like a yummy bowl of ripe melons. After a few hours it softens down to a light, fresh and fruity scent.

Definitely digging this one way more than I was expecting. It's exactly the fresh scent that I've been searching for, and I wish I would have know about it during the summer as it seems like it would be a refreshing summer scent for a hot day :P

  9. Wow am I so glad that I got this oil!

In the bottle, it reminds me a lot of Mechanical Phoenix, except brighter. In the bottle I don't get any of the incense or sage, just a bright, metallic scent.

On, for the first few minutes it was exactly like in the bottle, masculine and metallic, not in a bad way though.

After a few minutes, the sage and incense became more pronounced. The end effect is gorgeous! The metallic notes blend so beautifully with the sage. The sage and incense actually tone down the masculinity of the scent and make it more feminine and lovely. This scent reminds me of burnished gold. It seems like it would be a nice scent to wear on a hot summer day, which is just what I'm looking for right now!

Phoenix Steamworks is definitely a keeper for me :P

  10. Blood: expressing passion, will, and a sensual aesthetic.
Dragon's blood resin, helichrysum, burgundy wine grape, red musk, opoponax, red poppy, myrrh, carnation, tonka, almond, mimosa, jonquil, and neroli.

In the imp this didn't really seem like something I would like. It was very rich, spicy, and almondy, but something just didn't mesh with my nose.

Wet the almond was extremely overpowering.

Drydown: This smells almost exactly like Midnight Kiss to me! It brings to mind a rich and dark blood red color. There is enough difference that I can tell the two apart though. Its like a rich, red wine.

Overall, quite lovely, but since I'm trying to limit my collection and this is highly reminiscent of Midnight Kiss, I think this one will be off to the swaps...but who knows! I think I'll have to test this again before making a final decision.

  11. In the imp I get almost a plastic-y scent, not at all what I was expecting.

On the plastic vanishes, and it turns into something spicy! Again, not at all what I was expecting, but not in a bad way. Eventually the spiciness softens a bit, and it becomes a soft, vanilla spice almost. I think it's nice, but it doesn't quite mesh with my association with the color white if that makes sense.

  12. In the imp, very light and ethereal. A shining scent, if scents could shine. I can definitely pick out the peach for sure.

On it conjures up the image of laying in the shade of a forest on a warm, sunny spring day with a bushel of peaches near you! Very warm and comforting.

A bright, spring scent. Warm and shining, which I think is the heliotrope. A sweet juicy peach sitting in the warm sun. Definitely a spring scent for me, and also an instant mood lifter! Gorgeous!

  13. In the imp it's very sweet and tangy. Almost like a fresh bubblegum scent.

On it goes a little sour but keeps the tang. The lotus is kind of taking over with just the tiniest of tiny smidges of rose.

After a while it just turns to ick on me. I guess the lotus and roses didn't mesh well on my skin. A sickeningly sweet scent

  14. In the imp it's a deep, smokey and darkly fruity scent. Almost with an undertone of alcohol, like vodka.

On it's still dark, smokey fruit. The plum and opium I'm guessing. Odd, but it brings to mind the blueberry oatmeal that I love :P

Overall, the rose, lilac, and white gardenia stay completely hidden and never make an appearance. On it a slightly softer dark and smokey plum scent. I really enjoy this one, I think it's a keeper :D

  15. In the imp it is a scent that I really can't quite place. The mists and nigghtime dew is what I'm going to call it :P

On it's a pretty and milky, misty scent. A little reminiscent of Alice.

After a while it's a tingly dewy mist that's a smidge milky. Also gives me a bit of a headache, but that could just be stress too. Oh! Chapstick! Plain chapstick! That's the underlying scent that it reminds me of!

  16. In the imp I get a heavy floral. The rose is especially prominent. I'm a little put off by this as most strong florals tend to not work as well on me...

On the lily and lotus completely takes over with a slightly aquatic note detected.

After a bit the lily has kind of dominated and I can't really smell any of the other notes in it. Almost like a single note. I guess my skin just amps up lily scents

  17. In the imp it is a rather light and tart scent. The geranium and muguent are paticularly prevalent.

On at first no real great difference from in the imp. Still light and tart with geranium dominating.

After a while it turns into an overpowering floral like scent on my which ended up giving me a smidge of a headache... At this point I can't detect a single note as they are all meshed together so well. Almost like a plastic floral

  18. In the imp this is a very berry scent with a little hint of wood shavings. Not quite sure if I like it or not though...

On it turns into almost a weird bakery plasticy scent...Yeah...pretty weird, I know...

Nope, not going to work. It's almost sickly smelling on me. I can't quite pick out the notes that are dominating though

  19. In the imp this is absolutely gorgeous! The fir is there and it's lovely and soft nighttime air.

On it's very pretty. A very soft, moonlight night woodsy scent. A little sweet though...

Overall, an absolutely gorgeous scent, I just really can't see myself wearing it :P It's very sweet and piney like sugar coated pine.

  20. Beauty, joy, pleasure and delight: devastated. This is the scent of the hopelessness, torment and despair of love. Lavender and wisteria, heart-wrenching pale rose, desolate white sandalwood and thin, tear-streaked white musk.

In the imp the sandalwood and white musk completely dominate. No rose, lavender or wisteria to be found...

On it turns into a very sharp and clinical cleaning-like scent. Not really the sombre scent that I was hoping for.

The lavender goes totally sour on me :P Looks like it's off to the swaps for this one...

  21. In the imp it smells like a citrusy-slightly alcoholic suntan lotion. I'm really gonna be sad if all of the dragon's blood scents turn out like this! This is almost exactly how Dragon's Eye turned on me.

On, it's not at all the strong powerful scent that I was hoping for at all. I get suntan lotion. Got damn it!!

Gah this really makes me really sad! Now I'm scared that all of the dragon scents are going to turn to suntan lotion on me :P

  22. In the imp, the almond is extremely overpowering, to the point where it's bitter and slightly tingly to my nose. I hope that it mellows out a bit...

On my skin the almond immediately dies down and now the vanilla with an underscent of the cinnamon has taken over. It's a little incensy. Fiance pointed out that it smells like a really cool store called Earthbound

Overall, it's a very warm scent. You still get the feeling of hidden warmth from this. It's a very elusive scent and is already almost gone on m. Nice, but probably not something that I'll be wanting a bottle of.

  23. In the imp this is a very powerful scent. It's woodsy and piney and has a little sweentess underneath it all.

On this turns into a very very minty Christmas tree scent. Like a pie slathered in a very sweet mint, and something almost berry-ish underneath it all.

After a while it turns into an herbal soapy powder scent. It smells like the smudge sticks my mum used to have. It was nice, but a little strong and would give me a bit of a headache after too long.

  24. Upon first sniff I can easily identify all three notes, and they blend together in an interesting combination. It's rather unusual, because I can't tell if I enjoy this scent or if I don't. Very intriguing.

As I put it on it's still an interesting scent. None of the scents are particularly jumping out rather than blending nicely. Again, I'm not sure if I like it are not

Ok, I've decided that it's not going to work for me. After a while the white champagne kind of takes front seat pushing the pear and plumeria to the back, which is sad because it definitely does not really appeal to me now. I think I would have enjoyed it if it had stayed how it started out on my skin with a nice exotic blend of everything

  25. In the imp I get almost a very slightly chlorine-y lake-ish scent. The aquatic note dominates, and I can't really smell too much else...Pretty light and high-pitched if a scent can be so.

On it immediately turns darker. Like the scent of a stagnant forest pond after a rain shower. Rather nice.

After a while, that lovely scent morphs into rotting wood and vegetation :P That makes me sad
