  1. I got two imps of this as freebies in the orders I received today, and all I have to say is that Beth is an absolute goddess for sending me this and Whitechapel. Even if everything else I had ordered turned to absolute crap on me, these two would've been worth it! I haven't had a chance to wear this for a long period of time yet, but I definitely will tomorrow!

I couldn't put my finger on what it reminded me of until just now when reading other posts in this thread.. It's definitely got a strawberry bubbalicious vibe in the imp!

Just after putting it on, It deepens into more of what I was hoping some of the wine (or wine and fruit) scents would do for me.

    Je l'aime beaucoup!

ETA: oh yeah.. this one wasn't even on my wishlist. somehow I completely missed it when reading through the scents (paying attention for fruity scents, too!) , so I'm triply glad Beth sent it to me.

  2. Since I'm named after one of the characters on the show of the same name, and I love fruit smells, I *had* to try this one, and it was part of my first order from the Lab.

It definitely didn't disappoint me in the least. It does smell somewhat like Republic of Tea's Blackberry Sage tea, but to me the blackberry is a bit stronger and it's not as bitter as i find the tea to be.

    very dee-lish!

I really like this alot, but I don't think it will be my signature scent. I'm actually rather grateful for that, cuz it would just be a bit too corny. :P

  3. When I first got an imp of this one, I smelled it and it was really nice and very deliscious...! 'rich' is the best way i can describe it. I put a small dab on my wrist and it still smelled good for quite a while. Unfortunately, I'll never smell it in the same way again.

A little bit later, however, I put some behind my ears and *something* happened. I went to see a movie just after this, and the entire time, something I could smell made me feel sick to my stomach. I'm not quite sure what it is, but now whenever I sniff the imp, that same thing jumps out and i feel queezy remembering how ill it made me feel.

It was a sad, sad day. I was looking forward to loving this one.. definitely my biggest dissapointment so far.

This one's going to my grandmother for christmas. *le sigh*

  4. In the imp, the lime is so strong and crisp and beautiful! I wish it lasted a bit longer, but the white musk and citron that come out as the lime fades are absolutely lovely as well.

I put this on in the morning after receiving it as a freebie in my first order and instantly fell in love. Later in the day, I was in the department store and stopped to smell Lacoste for men because a guy friend of mine told me he'd gotten some a couple of days ago. I just looked up the notes for this fragrance, and while they don't match Beth's description (with the possible exception of lacoste's "musk" perhaps being a white musk), the inital smell of lacoste is very similar to Whitechapel to me, just for a comparison.

Anyways, this is listed as a masculine fragrance, and I think it would be wonderful on a guy, but I think it's equally wonderful for a woman. I think it's very light and wonderful.

Two thumbs up.. (I'd give it more if I had them!)

  5. I was laying in bed for the past 45 minutes or so trying to relax but with no luck. I have the worst trouble falling asleep and envy my boy's ability to be totally out in less than five minutes whenever he likes. I just received Somnus from Shollin over the weekend, so I'm giving it a try. I put a tiny drop just under my nose (the air is cold, i'm cold.. there ain't gunna be no wafting tonight!) about 5 minutes ago. my eyes are feeling a bit more 'heavy' than they were, but it is 1:30 in the morning, so it's hard to say whether that's from the oil or not. :P

I'll have to decide how I think it worked when I wake up. :D

Scent: I would call this one crisp instead of sharp, though I can't quite pinpoint why I make that distinction. Perhaps because I would also say it's a somewhat clean scent as well. Definitely lavender, as everyone else has said, but I can't distinguish anything other than. Crisp Clean Herbal-Green Lavender. Yup. that's how I'd describe it. :D

Oh yeah. I do get a hint of the sort of soapy thing that some others mentioned.. I think it kind of reminds me of Dove soap.. a softer sort of scent. I'd say that probably is the reason I wouldn't describe it as sharp.

  6. I got the auto-response thing at 4:06 am on the 26th.. maybe it got overloaded later in the day.. *shrug* perhaps not, but it's a thought..

what I would do is log back into your paypal and see if the thing you sent is listed in the recent transactions still. if it is, you should be all set.

  7. Black Cat

In the vial: mostly herbal with a bit of mint sneaking in.

Just after applying the mint goes away and it's mostly an herbal green smelling scent. It's not quite like anything I've tried yet, and I quite like it.

After a few minutes, the mint creeps back in a little bit. It's rather faint, but I can smell it again a little for a few minutes. There is something floral coming out, and from the other reviews I assume that it's rose. This is the first scent that I've tried with rose in it, and it gives me hope for some of the others (Rose Red, be good to me, baby!)

So far, it hasn't given me a headache, which a lot of florals tend to do, so things are looking good! Of the roughly 20 scents I've tried, this is probably the closest to smelling like a commercial perfume, but it's so much more lovely!

  8. Hmmm, am I the only one who loves the smell of baby powder?  If a scent wants to go powdery on me (a la Dublin), that's cool....

I like it, too.. one of my 2 favorite pre-BPAL scents is Baby Soft. :P

I don't particularly mind if something goes powdery, but i think it might be sad because it doesn't stay what it was supposed to be. like.. It doesn't smell bad, it just doesn't smell like *insert fragrance here*, sort of thing.

  9. Chaos Theory XVII

Chaos Run Amuck, brought to you by the letter H(ypothermya) and by penguins everywhere.

In the bottle, this one is kind of strange.. I get a floral scent, but also a bit of what smells like chewing gum.. not the bubble-yum kind, but something more juicy fruitish, but not even as sweet as that. It's very strange. On, the lemon comes out stronger, but it isn't really a lemon-fruit smell.. It's more a lemon-flower smell.. After wearing it for a bit, it softens and blends a bit, but it also has a vague cleaning product scent.. more like an air freshener spray than something strong like lemon pledge, though.

  10. Chaos Theory XCV

Chaos Run Amuck. Second of Four..

I'm not very good at distinguishing notes, but the first impression I get from this one is a Floral.. I do notice something citrusy poking it's head out from under that, though. With Coffee Spoons said she thought there was Vanilla or Tonka Bean.. I definitely don't get Vanilla, and that's one thing I can usually pick that out of anything, so I'd guess it might be Tonka Bean... but I could be wrong, of course.

All in all, it's pretty, but not something I'd buy if it was sprayed on me in a department store. It's more obviously floral than I generally like.

  11. Chaos Theory XV

Part of the Chaos Run Amuck swap circle, courtesy of our dear penguin hypothermya! Thanks, doll! :P

Guess description: The smooth and gentle scent of innocence. Creamy vanilla and coconut, blended with milk, with a dash of orchid and night blooming jasmine.

That sounds pretty good to me!

I totally get the impression of Circus Peanuts from this.. I once had a shampoo that smelled just like this too.. It reminds me of being a kid and squishing those crazy marshmellowy candy and dissolving them in my mouth.

Coconut and a Banana scent are definitely strong with this one. </yoda>

  12. Wow. I really like this one, even though i have no idea what's in it. I don't really pick up cinnamon from it, but I would say it's a soft herbal scent.

I don't smell any vanilla in it, but for some reason the scent has a similar "feel" as one of my favorite pre-BPAL scents, Vanilla Lace (by V.Secret)..

So far this is one of the longer lasting scents on me, and it is just so lovely it's almost indescribable. :D

ETA: when i got down to the bottom of the imp, the cinnamon became more apparent..

    ADDED May 9:

    Okay.. Wow.

I did actually review this before, but I have to come back again..

I got a partial imp of this in one of my first swaps (late oct, early nov 2004) that I absolutely adored, and decided that I had to have a bottle of it at some point. Well, I finally got around to ordering one on 3/15/05. Towards the end of March '05, I got another imp of it as a freebie..

Why I had to come back to review again is this: All three of them smell totally different!

    1. The first imp was sweet and creamy and deliscious. :D I suspect that this one might've been aged a fair bit, being that it was less than half full and Tarted.

    2. The second imp was very perfumy, kind of floraly (I think), and rather headache inducing. It made me somewhat nervous about the bottle I'd ordered.

    3. Today, I got the bottle.. Thankfully, it smells more like the first imp than the second. There's a lot more cinnamon in this one than that Imp (it was only noticable at all in the very bottom of the imp, even though I'd rolled it and everything), but I can definitely see how that one was an aged version of this scent.

Now I kind of wonder if the second Imp was mislabeled. I'll have to give it another wiff, but what I remember was not even remotely similar to the other two versions. I mean.. not even close. (ETA: I just discovered I actually have the imp with me.. It just has to be mislabeled. It's Soooo entirely different. Very sharp.. slightly citrusy, and somewhat floral.)

So glad my initial worship of this scent was not totally misplaced. :P

Honestly, As much as I love, adore, and worship a bunch of other scents, this one may very well be my Signature Scent.

Also must add that The Lovers happens to be my Personality and Soul cards, as well as my Year card for 2005.

  13. my reaction to this scent is almost word for word what ladylatemar said, though i wouldn't call it strange. :P.

This is such a strange scent - it's like apple-blackberry-spiced cider, but with a slight woody edge on it keeping it from being a foody/fruit scent.  I like it, but it fades really quickly on me, which is strange considering that other people say it's very strong on them.

It's a great fall scent, for sure!

I'm going to keep it and slather it on.

Out of the bottle and wet on the skin, I pick up the blackberry wine and a spicy apple cider. The next thing to jump out is a bit of the woody smell that mellows the fruityness it might have. I've had it on for about an hour and it has faded quite a bit, but it's still there.. I'll have to wait and see how much longer it lasts.

One of my favorites so far, especially of the more non-food/super-fruity scents.

    I'd give it ****1/2 of 5 stars. :D

  14. (My first review... take it easy on me! *grin*)

    Tintagel

In the bottle: My first immediate thought was "Oh my goodness, this smells almost exactly like Jailbait." After looking at the description again, I'm flabbergasted as to how 'Spicy mulled wine flowing through the musky heat, warm leather and bright clash of armor, the damp branches of Cornish hawthorn, blackthorn, juniper, English elm and bayberry, and the magical tingle of dragon's blood resin.' becomes 'bubblegum', but I like it mucho. Maybe it's the wine and bayberry combination.. I dunno.

Wearing: After a bit it was pretty much the same, but with the slightest hint of something more spicy than Jailbait...

Later: Unfortunately, this doesn't last very long on me at all. I put it on before I left the house to go to the dentist (wearing bubblegum scent, fabulous!), and by the time I got Xrays taken and was waiting for the dentist--in total, about 45 minutes--it was almost unnoticeable. By the time I was leaving less than half an hour later, it was completely gone.

Overall, i like it and the scent hardly changed on me, but i'd probably toss it in a locket to make it last longer.

  15. after having problems with CCnow the first time i orderd, i just make my own list in word or excel and add up the totals that way.. i know some people will use the CCnow ordering system and then just copy the info into the paypal comment window so it's all calculated for you that way..

  16. yeah, i wasn't sure about that gap either.. mine came to 363 after i added in the K/Q of Diamonds, so i just went with the 12.50 (using paypal so it isn't automatically added). confuzzling.

on a side note, it's a shame that this update didn't happen on the 28th, since paypal is essentially not charging service fees tomorrow because they messed the joint up for a few days. heh. i can imagine how much extra the lab would've made, then!

  17. Eh...I'm not sure that there really is anything that close to Mabon. Old Glasgow is nice and berryish, but it's missing that apple/cidery scent. And Hesperides is great, but it's missing the berry scent. And none of them really have that ivy scent.

perhaps layering the two of them together then wouldn't be a bad option? i haven't yet smelled any of the three (got mabon on the way, though), so i don't know that it'd be even close.
