  1. The peach is amazing in this blend! Like I just picked it right off the tree and took a bite. The magnolia is a nice contrast, and it's like I'm in my yard in the middle of the summer. I wasn't sure how much I was going to like this one, but I love it!

  2. I think the chocolate plum musk is the most prominent note, but it's more of an herby floral than fruity, and there's just a hint of the chocolate. I'm not getting much of anything else, maybe a bit of the candied fruits, but it's really nice, and very unique.

  3. This is a different clove than Clemence has, and the notes that's usually overpowering is rose rather than patchouli, but clove saves the day again! It balances out the rose and is lovely by itself, and I'm getting a nice bit of the jasmine too. It's a nice spicy floral with everything together :)

  4. I was so excited for this one, since I love berries and usually get along fine with the other notes, but it was just too musky on me :( There was some sweetness coming from the honey and the berries, but it ended up cloying and the whole mix was just not good on my skin. I'm really sad this didn't work, I thought I would love it.

  5. I was so excited for this one when I read the description, and now that I've tried it, I'm just as excited to wear it all the time :D

It's mostly a very sweet, lovely apple with spice, but I get just a hint of the milky note and it really rounds it out nicely. I've gone after a lot of different blends trying to find the one that smells the most like mulled apple cider, and this is it!

  6. This is such an interesting scent. I'm a bit disappointed by the notes that I'm not getting any of, but the ones I do get are practically single-note. Wet, it's all verbena. Very light and citrusy. About five minutes later, after it dries, it's all star anise. Very odd, as I was trying a few different scents and wasn't sniffing it continuously throughout the time I had it on. I almost wasn't sure I knew which one it was when I went back to it.

Very cool. Maybe it'll change more later :)

  7. CIII

I don't normally get along with Snake Oil, but I can't resist the one-of-a-kind nature of a Chaos Theory, and I figured I could get a bottle and if I didn't like it, I could sell or swap it to someone who would. I am very glad I went ahead and got it.

The most prominent note is coffee. A lovely, deep coffee with something sweet underneath - I can't tell if it's caramel, cinnamon, chocolate or some combination of those but it adds a great richness to the blend. Underneath all that is just a hint of Snake Oil, which adds complexity but isn't cloying like I usually find it. I can't wait to see how it will age.

  8. I had very high expectations for this one, especially with my newfound love of daffodil, but it isn't what I expected at all. It's definitely floral - I think I get the honeysuckle the most - but I also am getting a beeswaxy note that's quite prominent. I'm hoping that it will change after a bit and (maybe?) give me a bit of daffodil, but if not, this is a very nice, light floral that isn't too heavy for the warm spring weather we've been having.

  9. I've never really been into Bath & Body Works scents too much, but I recently went in after realizing I didn't have any general body lotion, and I picked up a bottle of Rice Flower and Shea, which I proceeded to fall in love with. I just went to the website and found that they *do* have a body spray of it (which I didn't realize, because I've only ever seen lotion and shower gel, and a saleslady told me that's all they have), but I'd love to find similarly scented BPAL as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? Here are the notes listed on the website:

Fragrance Top Notes: Fresh Cut Ginger Root, Anise Leaves, Spring Water

Fragrance Mid Notes: Rice Flower Dew, Coconut Milk

Fragrance Base Notes: Amber, Musk, Sandalwood

I saw some of the suggestions made for Rice Flower and Shea that have been posted in this thread, but I came to mention that I found a near-perfect match in Tissue! I guess it probably won't smell the same on everyone, but on me, it smelled just like Rice Flower and Shea, I was so excited when I tested it!

  10. While wet I only smell the gardenia, but as this dried, it disappeared completely into the rice paper with a bit of the honey sweetening it up. It's very delicate, and as I smell it, I realize that this smells on me almost exactly like the Rice Flower and Shea from B&BW, which I was looking for a BPAL equivalent of! Score

  11. I got a decant of The Owens' Tomb on a whim thinking I probably wouldn't like it, but as soon as I put it on I was so glad I got it. The first thing I smelled was the daffodils - winter was the perfect time to get this because it just made me appreciate the nice spring scent even more. It was like walking outside my house on a great warm day in May :wub3:

As it dried down the stone and the dust came through and eventually were all that was left. Perfect for the scent, but not necessarily something that I want to smell like for a whole day. I'll probably try half my decant mixed with some perfumer's alcohol and see if that doesn't stop it from morphing away from the daffodils.

  13. I was a little reluctant to get something that sounded as foody as a 13, but the pressure of only remembering that it was Friday the 13th at 10PM, and the need for an excuse to order imps won me over, and I decided I could just sell or swap it if I didn't like it.

I'm glad I put the order in, after all. At first sniffing, all I got was chocolate, and that's all I got as well while it dried down a bit on my wrist. After some drydown, the spiciness came through, and now I'm getting a lovely allspice with a hint of apple after the chocolate. It reminds me of mulled apple cider (perhaps served with a nice chocolate bar). I'm hoping it will continue to morph a little after a little while, but I'd be happy with this if it didn't, it's a very rich, orchardy kind of scent. I think this is going to be one of the few foody oils I keep.

  14. In the imp: warm brownie

On the skin: more hot cocoa-ish, just a hint of cinnamon

Dry: the cinnamon is out more, though I don't smell the coffee at all.

I'm a little disappointed that I don't get any of the coffee note, but this reminds me of Häagen-Dazs Mayan chocolate ice cream, only warm. I really like it, even though I'm not normally into foody scents.
