BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

Sweet brandy, dark rum, heavy cream, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg.

It took me several minutes to place it. The dry-down made me smile, like an old friend had returned to me.

Oh, yes. This is like Beaver Moon (the original) all over again. I had accidentally up-ended my lone bottle of Beaver Moon a while back, leaving just a few drops for me to sniff. It was one of the saddest accidents ever, as it smelled really awesome on my skin. The only other oil to top it was Midway, which was my first BPAL love ...

So, Egg Nog: on me, just like Beaver Moon.

Who'da thunk it?

I might have to get a second bottle.

Does this smell like Egg Nog? I guess it does somewhat. But mostly to me it is a dead ringer, no contest, for Lush's Snowcake. This is Snowcake in a bottle, which I must confess is something I've always desired. All told it's a light almond-cake-and-eggnog scent that is heaven. Heaven. I will be getting another bottle of this while I can - it's that divine. This may be my favorite BPAL ever.

:P

At first it's all sticky vanilla, but on the drydown the nutmeg-y goodness comes out and it's just the tastiest treat ever. Mmmm. Love. So glad I ordered.

I love Beth's foody frags, and this one is no exception. It is dead on egg nogg to me. But what I love about it the most is the peppery top note I get in the very beginning, along with the brandy. It quickly fades, but it's worth it while it's there. Wish the pepperiness lasted longer.

I mix a lot of my scents with Sugar Cookie, but I can see using this one as a mixer as well. If you like the buttery thickness of SC you will probably like this, too.

Okay, this is literally gorgeous- absolutely my kinda scent (not what I was expecting, which was something similar to Lush's Randy Butter Cream but it's wonderful regardless. But I digress), but it fades in almost an instant. Seriously, almost a couple of seconds after I put it on and I can't smell it any more. I. Could. Cry!

Roll on, o' scent locket of Trading Post!

I've been hoping for years that Beth would resurrect Egg Nog. For whatever reason, I'd been really wanting to smell Egg Nog even though I don't actually drink Egg Nog. Unfortunately, it turns quickly and I get the Play-Doh as well. But I'm still glad because now I know.

I got to try an earlier version of this, though I thought it was the '05 version, this topic only lists '04 in the title. At any rate, the version I tried was buttery and thick and smelled of curdled milk, thanks to my chemistry. It was a little overwhelming even without that.

The 2007 version is LOVELY. It is spicy and creamy and noggy... but it is SO light. My skin just eats it up. I will have to play around with how much I apply. If you're a fan of gourmandy/spicy scents, this one could work out well for you! I am so pleasantly surprised, and will be scouting out a bottle of this in swaps, if at all possible.

Boozey rum! leaps out of the bottle; on skin, it calms down a bit, and sweet custardy goodness comes to the forefront. It's a bit eggy, with sweet nutmeg note on top. Disappears much too quickly, but lovely nonetheless.

Yarrgh maties!! Thar be Pirate Eggnog!!

Rummy and yummy on me. It makes me smile when I think about it following so close on the Pirate Wedding.

In the vial, I get the rummy eggnog, but once on my skin, it turned to the sour smell I got from Milk Moon. I had to wash it off right away. Fortunately, it was mild and easy to remove.

Egg Nog 2007-

In Bottle: Very lightly alcoholic--not as intensely creamy or spicy as I'd expect.

Wet: Oh, that's YUMMY once it hits. Deliciously nutmeg and cream! I hope this one lasts longer than the earlier blend.

Dry: Drat and double drat, my skin just eats this up. I have to slather it to get anything like lasting--and it's a little musty-turning, in that quantity. Well, I will have to stick with my hoarded bottles of Sugar Cookie 2004 for my nutmeg fix. (Or the egg nog blends from a few rival companies! :P )

Overall: I would love, if my skin didn't eat it up.

In the imp this smells so good, but sadly, after about 5 minutes, this turns to play-dough on me. :P

I am very glad I got an imp first instead of just ordering a bottle.

I may save it for use in a scent locket, when I eventually get one.

Wet: All brandy with a hint of cinnamon under it. Yes, weirdly enough I get cinnamon and not nutmeg. *shakes fist at skin chemistry* Within minutes, it dries down to milk-almonds-vanilla, then slowly fades off to a faint vanilla without much throw. :P Lovely, but too ephemeral for me.

Hmm, this one is interesting. Wet, it smells almost just like the original Beaver Moon (which I love to pieces.) Sadly, it fades almost instantly, though I can still catch a whiff of it every now and then. :P

man, people were not kidding when they said this disappears fast - almost instantly, in my case. anyway, it is very boozy in the bottle, yet somehow not that strong - it smells like - you guessed it: egg nog, with brandy and nutmeg. it's quite authentic and yummy. on my skin, the booze vanishes instantaneously and i'm left with an extremely light, though pleasant, custard cream with the faintest dusting of nutmeg. it's quite pleasant, though completely faint.

Bummer.

Wet, this is yummy, if a little too sweet for my taste. More booze! More cream!

But *poof*, in a few minutes all I am left with is the vanilla, and bpal vanilla goes plastic on me. Boooo! This will be swapped to a more loving home.

I really loved this 2007 rendition of Egg Nog. Beth outdid herself this year. The nutmeg is right on, and the cream and vanilla are exquisite. I have to say that it does disappear, but that is what scent lockets are for and I am going to get me at least one full sized bottle of this Yuletide treat! Mmmmm.

Umm Beth? You've made the doggie version of Cialis according the red dachshund that is trying to wash my wrist atm.

Great booze top note, creamy spice underneath.

I've only gotten my hands on the original EggNog in sniffie form, you hit it out of the park with the return. :P

While I can smell the booze in the bottle, it doesn't come through onto my skin at all. It smells like a cup of rich, creamy egg nog with a few shakes of nutmeg on top. This isn't a wimpy low-fat nog, this is the kind that leaves a big thick noggy milk mustache on you because you were excited and slurped it.

After 5 minutes: Gone! :P I'm sad! It doesn't go boozy, it doesn't go plasticky, it doesn't go powdery or Play-Doh'y, it's perfect and delicious, and great to have sitting beside El Dia de Reyes. So of course it disappears in 5 minutes. :D Oh well, then I shall slather!

I never got the chance to try the previous version of Egg Nog - but I am THRILLED with the 2007 vintage!!!

Love, love, LOVE it! It smells like the real thing in the bottle (spiked just right) and doesn't change much going onto the skin. It's fabulous - perhaps my favorite foodie scent of all BPALs. (but you didn't hear that Candy Butcher & MB: Closet, o.k.?)

It dries down to a creamy sweet nog-lite. And though it's very faint, the scent lingered enough that I could still smell it the next morning.

After trying this one out, I picked up a quart of Eggnog at the grocery, laced it with a bit of Bacardi and Voila!!! A multi-sensual scentsation for the senses!

oh yeah, it's bottle worthy! (I may even need a back-up bottle)

Well, this is a sweet creamy spicy brandy-rum on first application. It reminds me a lot of brandy butter (we in the UK don't have Egg Nog at Christmas, so i can't compare it with the real deal) Then after wearing for an hour or so it dries down to pure (melted) vanilla ice cream. It is unbelievably accurate ice cream on me! It also reminds me a lot of Midway, so I reckon that Egg Nog is a good Midway substitute.

Not sure if it is bottle-worthy, but it is a lot of fun :P

Oh, this one is delightful, but sadly very very faint, and it only lasts so long. In any case I'm glad I've got a bottle. Might even get another one to see how it ages.

I haven't ever had egg nog, but this smells just like I would imagine weak egg nog would smell like. Creamy, a little boozy and a tiny bit spicy! Lovely!

Alas....Egg Nog 2007 fails me.

I tried this on at will-call and adored it. Super boozy and spiced when wet, then a bit creamier upon drydown. Sadly, it didn't last on my skin. What's even more sad is that it doesn't last at all...anywhere. I put it in my hair and in my scent locket today and nothin. I've never had a scent vanish from a locket.

Curses...it's so nice too.
