BPAL Madness!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Recommended Posts

I'm not new to BPAL but newish to the forum and LEs (was too scared to try most of them before I knew about decant circles!) I have found myself in a bit of a rut so I think it will be fun to try some recommendations based on things other than notes. Anyway here we go!

My name is Hailey, I am a 21 year old linguistics student. I am absolutely fascinated with all aspects of language, and my dream job would to be working in language restoration somewhere cold (or Hawai'i ). I am an INFP. I can be very loud and bubbly, especially around people I am comfortable with but eventually mt social energy is drained and I need to retreat with a good book and a cup of tea to recharge. I am definitely feeling, I use my gut for making decisions most of the time, and emotions tend to be my biggest consideration for myself and other people. I can also tend to be swept up into emotions easily. I am excitable, quick to anger (but it does not last), easily infatuated, and I love intensely. I am a Libra sun/Aries moon/Libra rising. I am VERY indecisive. I would say weighing options constitutes a large portion of my day. A large part of my personality is humor. I love making people laugh, it's my go-to icebreaker and tool to bond with people. My favorite compliment is laughter or people telling me they think I'm funny.

I love adventure. Hiking, exploring the outdoors, and travelling are among my favorite things to do. I have recently gotten into bouldering as well. I am a huge bookworm, my favorite book is Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck and I have a tattoo of an octopus based off it. I also love to cook and bake. Cooking for friends and family is one of my favorite ways to share my love. I would describe my style generally as dark romantic. A lot of what I wear has Victorian touches. I also love contrasting things like textures and masculine and feminine elements. OH and I'm a Slytherin!

Thanks for reading!

Generally I think I am REALLY terrible at this whole recommendations based on personality thing, so usually I don't make any. It's fun to read though, so I was just creepin through the thread, and as I read your blurb roseus, I just felt like you should try Blacker Than The Raven Wings of Midnight. (If you haven't.) So that's my two cents, for what it's worth! :D

Ahh this is my first time recommending based on personality....so don't kill me haha.

I feel that London fufills the desire to travel and learn other languages- Mainly because London is brimming with many diverse cultures as a metropolis and international travel magnet/hub in its own right. Since you are indecisive I threw in Glasgow too, as they are geographical neighbours ;D. It is also historically significant to your personality given its glorious Victorian style era after Queen Victoria - for which the fashion you wear is named after. The scent itself is a "twisted, blackened" "rose", both symbols and words to describe a dark romantic. I think Victoriana Goth is quite literally fitting for this as well ;p

Your wanderlust to travel also brings me to include Glasgow and Goofin' at Stonehenge... where the outdoorsy scents of late winter and crushed grass imply an utmost desire for hiking and exploring...The 'goofin' in the title reflects your preference for humour to bond- and a love for making others laugh. Goofballs was also selected because I feel it similarity reflects your nature to be funny- specifically around others. The wet grass, sunshine, dogs, dirt and flowers all further ground your preference for being outdoors around company.

Your love of baking brings me to suggest Chocolate Stout Cupcake- because not only is it noticeably bittersweet from stout, but also opts for inky DARK chocolate for frosting...to reflect your fashion preferences perhaps haha. It is also a great contrast between bitter and sweet- combining predominantly masculine elements (stout) with feminine elements (sugary cupcakes).... I find it slightly amusing my scents are all mainly based in English/Ireland/Scotland hahaha.

Here's the shortlist with descriptions:

Glasgow: The rich scent of wild blackberry breezing over gentle rosy heather.

London- Venerable Victorian Tea Rose… twisted, blackened and emboldened with wickedness.

Goofballs: “wet grass and sunshine, dogs and wood, and my feet in warm dirt and flowers I pick.”

Goofin' at Stonehenge: The chilly air of Wiltshires twilight in late winter, crushed grass, white musk, and Liliths lavender.

Chocolate Stout Cupcake: Bittersweet chocolate cupcakes whisked with stout and topped with inky dark chocolate frosting.

Victoriana Goth: English rose, lilac, frankincense, violet leaf, French lavender, and wisteria encased in amber and splashed lightly with a ghastly garden herb tincture.

I'm just dipping my toe into BPAL and I don't really know what notes I like yet, so this'll be a fun way to get recs. Right now I'm just picking scents that sound awesome with no regard for how they actually smell, so...

My name is Theo, I'm 18 and (nominally) a woman. Right now, I'm studying English lit and epistemology. And math, but only because I have to. Personality-wise I'm a fairly good fit for ENFP except for the whole "boundless charm" and "large groups of friends" thing. I am so, so bad at socialising, partly because of my potent rbf (the green lipstick doesn't help) and partly because I'm easily intimidated by crowds. In small groups, though, I have been told that I'm a scary person. This suits me just fine.

Okay, so: interests. I really love stories and shiny things, and it's my life goal to one day own two sphynx cats. I also like sf/f and horror: at the moment my favourite authors are N.K. Jemisin, Mary Shelley, and Shirley Jackson. Anything dark and elegant and self-aware: yes, please. Juxtaposition is my jam. I love anything with heavy contrast, like flyartproductions, orchestral melodies in rap songs, and modern stories with a gothic heart. Also big stinkin' action movies are the way to my heart, so if anyone else has a burning passion for Mad Max: Fury Road, I'm extending a formal offer of friendship. And video games! I live from Steam sale to Steam sale and dream of one day working in an indie game development company.

Okay yes I'm done. Do your worst!

P.S. gotta love these old-school emoticons

This is my first time making personality recs, but I've got a few ideas :)

Dorian (an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea) For English lit, and for being a dark and elegant. Could also imply a scary sort of charm, perhaps?

Philologus (Ancient books, crackled parchment, faded incense, and candle wax) For epistemology and studying in general.

Ultraviolet (Electrifying, mechanized and chilly — the scent of crushed blooms strewn on cold metal. Lush violet and neroli spiked hard with eucalyptus and a sliver of mint) Sci-fi/Shiny and chrome.

The Robotic Scarab (Polished metallic notes, glossy leather, frankincense, star anise, and thin lubricating oils) and Smokestack (Creosote, coal, and industrial waste) For Furiosa and Fury Road.

Ok now I've just descended into coming up with Mad Max-themed scents. I hope these are somewhat helpful!

The Scents I selected for you all share a dark and sweet tone, and tones of dark greens, light green, electrical green, purples, shiny white for contrast - to reflect your love of such juxtaposition ;D La Heurte Ferte to start, generally dark and surreal atmospheric, yet elegant scent. As an academic of economics and epistemology, you would no doubt be living off caffeine and generally smell like they are studying (yay papers), much of this brings to mind Miskatonic University. Geek Goth for the inner gamer, highly caffeinated carbonated drinks, woo! Such a love of gaming implies a love for wild, surreal and unruly lands- sometimes doing things you wouldn't generally do IRL- reflected well in Moonbathing (yay gaming! I love gaming too!). Your generally described demeanor as 'dark, elegant and sel-aware" alongside "scary person" testimonials might be well reflected in Lady Lucille Sharpe. Your love of shiny things and horror represented eerily in The Girl, who smells like a crystalline white ethereal scent (part of a past halloweenie release). And some Shiny Furball HG for your love of hairless cats ;D I also feel that Dorian is a great suggestion- a wonderful unisex scent and literary curiosity behind the character's story- and you love stories, yay!

And here is the extended shortlist:

Clio: Her scent is the warm, dry parchment of scrolls, lavender for critical thought and analysis, the solidity of heavy woods, ornery patchouli and glib benzoin, and superstar-splashed orange and amber.

Dorian: an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea)

Geek Goth- Highly caffeinated, profoundly sugared lemon-lime soda. (yay gamers!)

La Heurte Ferte- Spilled absinthe, scorched sugar cubes, opium smoke, lilac blossoms, and rose water.

Lady Lucille Sharpe (dark, elegant and self aware): Love makes monsters of us all: faded red roses and a glimmer of garnet with black lily, ylang ylang, smoky plum musk and black amber.

Miskatonic University: The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls.

Moonbathing- Solar-powered electric melons and droplets of pina colada caught in an electrical storm.

Shiny Furball Hair Gloss: Smell like you’ve been on a Full Moon Stalk even when you’re at the office! Himalayan cedar, vanilla musk, lavender, black clove, honeyed coconut, fir balsam, and juniper berry!

The Girl: A seductive, serpentine white scent, elusive, crystalline, and spellbinding: white amber, silver birch, immortelle, davana, pale musk, star jasmine, and ylang ylang.

Ohh, I need some new recs...I've found most of my wishlist bottles and now I need new addictions >.>

1) Introverted

2) independent (only child)

3) competitive (in gaming mostly, but also at work >.>)

4) sensitive emotionally

5) anxious

I'm a pretty typical Cancer, haha. I am a total homebody and I love my pets and reading. As far as bpal goes, my death note is violet, and I'm not a huge fan of vetiver or really wooly/furry smelling blends. I have ventured into foodie/spicy lately, but sometimes red musk makes me smell like a corn chip (idk why.) Favorite scents: The Girl, Morocco, Serpentine, Dorian, Harp of C'noc, 51 (I like white florals, ozone, green musk/skin musk/white musk/pale musk, sandalwood, vanilla, etc. etc.)

Help a sister out!

I immediately think of Wensleydale for some reason. As well as Dirty. Both have that clean skin/laundry softness going on (although Dirty is a bit sweeter and more floral/fresh). Thought they might be comforting.

I would also recommend Parsifal, as it is an ozonic floral and somehow I feel like the archetype of the knight errant fits someone who likes reading/gaming? Maybe because you mentioned gaming, I would also recommend Paladin. It's a clean silver kind of scent (light leather with a tiny clang of metal). I imagine for you, it would fit well with Good (a sweet musk) or Neutral (skin musk).

You mentioned anxiousness, so I thought of Cathode. It's a green chypre and described as "negatively charged." Made me think of frenetic energy. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I let my bottle of Parsifal go in 2009 and I've been thinking of repurchasing and that just confirms it :) I do like Neutral and have a bottle, I'll have to try Good too. I'll have to look into Wensleydale and Cathode!

;O Yay for gaming!! I'm a competitive gamer too! ;D Speaking purely in the context of personality recommendations, You mention The Girl and the Harp of C'noc Chosgair, so I feel that your introverted side likes to focus more on the bright, light and subtle and have chosen The First of Three Spirits to reflect this aspect of your personality. . Your competitive side in gaming suggests commitment, determination and perseverance. All that splendour and glory..ahem light? Although I've probably butchered it a little bit, I'm also throwing Hod into the mix (maybe Hod: Resurrected instead of Hod v2). Your list of 5, gives me the impression that you are consciously aware of yourself- and I also feel that your enjoyment of finer things (indulging in books) and independence as an only child could be reflected nicely in Eve (OLLA). Also, Capax Infiniti for your emotionally sensitive and anxious side because being emotionally sensitive can be quite taxing! ;D

Of course these are only suggestions based on your personality and scent preferences.. I imagine there to be a lot more out there to suit your personality DX ahah

________________________________________________

CAPAX INFINITI: A scent warmed by a whole lot of love: honey-snuggled skin musk, sweet vanilla ice cream residue, and lavender oil (Lilith’s favorite!), with a gentle hint of Dorian.

EVE (OLLA): Her scent is one that travels through the eons: the Irish moss, yarrow, and hawthorn of the Iron Age Britons, ancient Rome’s omphacium and honey, myrrh and calamus from Egypt, the frankincense and damask roses of the Florentine Renaissance, white sandalwood from the Far East, Moroccan saffron and rose water, and a swirl of incense from the souks.

HOD: Glory and Majesty, Kokab, God’s Judgement.

THE FIRST OF THREE SPIRITS: Shimmering white amber, voluminous vanilla, white musk, zdravetz, and summer flowers.

This sounds like a fun way to get some recommendations! I'm a newbie here and the amount of scents in the BPAL catalogue are STAGGERING.

I'm 28 and was born in Texas, but spent most of my childhood in Louisiana, then moved back to Texas.

I'm pretty darn introverted sometimes, unless I have shared interests with someone. Admittedly, I tend not to talk much when focusing on work (or if I feel that I don't have anything interesting to contribute), so I think some people find me standoff-ish? I'm really not, though, and I'm positively chatty around my friends. I also have an issue with people noticing me; sometimes I'll be right near someone and they'll hardly even notice (which has lead to someone jokingly calling me a ninja). I also tend to be anxious and maybe a tad depressive and I feel like this whole section has practically been a self-burn.

I really love reading, musicals, listening to music (mostly soundtracks of different sorts, but also whatever sounds good to me), playing videogames, reading indie comics, watching movies and tv shows (I tend to like action, fantasy, and horror/thrillers, as well as seeing older films and shows that are classic and/or campy), animation in general, and chilling inside while it's raining, maybe with some tea. My favorite season is probably fall since it's not too chilly and I enjoy Halloween, but I also happen to like the vibe in winter when things get Christmas-y. I really need to get back into drawing and painting as well, since I enjoy those things but I never feel like I have the time. I also sometimes get a bit crafty and my next project is going to be a mask I'll wear to a masquerade ball.

While I wouldn't say I'm entirely into schmaltz all the time, I can be a bit of an idealist and romantic (even if I tend to get down on myself). I tend to like either warm or light/fresh scents in particular, I'd say.

Also, I wouldn't mind something more on the adult side. It doesn't have to be either "sexy" or "granny", but my slant in that direction is mostly since I'm 5' tall and I look younger than I am (which is nice, but I don't have a particularly adult fashion sense; I like cute things and I tend to wear fandom merch t-shirts).

Some nos for me off the top of my head would be tobacco smells, since I worry I'd think of cigarettes and I dislike that smell for various reasons, bubblegum, since it's not my thing, and wet dirt smells, since stuff like that feels a bit stifling to me (we have super humid summers and it's THE WORST).

I haven't gotten to try any BPAL scents yet, but I have ordered Nasty Woman (out of a petty dislike of Trump and it does sound promising, scent-wise) and a sample of Snake Oil since I like vanilla and spicy scents and I've seen some pretty rave reviews about it.

If anyone has any ideas from that, then I'd love to hear them! c:

I'm awkward at describing myself so I'm just going to spit some things out! Eternal optimist. Believe most people are trying to do their best. Super shy and quiet but also weirdly extroverted at times...I do like to be around people and have interesting conversations...I just don't need it every day. Dry, quiet sense of humor. I am not "crafty" but I do like making little things with my hands IE papercraft. I don't like working a desk job staring at a computer, I need to be using my hands or up moving around. I am currently an elementary school library assistant and I love it. Love working with kids, they are such sweet spirits. Good at entertaining myself, love to read, historical fiction mostly. Love history and art (majored in Italian Renaissance art history), like to draw but don't practice enough. Love TV shows that keep my brain busy like Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot. Hate sitcoms. Nerdy in some ways (see constant reading) but not into comics or Dr. Who, stuff like that. I like indie rock, world music, anything that doesn't sound like everything else. Looooove thunderstorms, rainy weather in general, being in the woods, drinking tea, being snuggly on the couch with loved ones, getting massages, hot baths, incense, candles, BPAL of course, all that sensory stuff. I love to go to art shows, new restaurants, travel, just have new experiences as much as possible. Mom of 2 sweet babes, totally into having adventures with my kids, spending time with them keeps me young, their excitement is contagious. They know I will always find us something new and fun to explore. Um what else. Love food, love to cook, lifelong vegetarian, I do yoga every day, total crunchy granola hippy liberal. Huge sweet tooth but I try not to indulge it so I've grown away from foodie scents. Love the way health food stores smell, haha. All those herbs mixed together. Favorite places that feel like home: Vancouver BC, Santa Fe NM, Valladolid MX, London UK. From Michigan, spent a long time in Oklahoma, a little time in upstate NY, now in Texas. Favorite smells: star jasmine in the spring, hot jasmine tea on a chilly morning, pumpkin guts, Nag Champa, roasted garlic, the air after it rains, sawdust, clove cigarettes, a bunch more I can't remember right now!

I'm still in my first BPAL year so am sure there'll be some much more experienced recs to follow but here's what sprung to my little brain :D

KezzieZ:

51 and Elf are beautiful fresh/light scents with names to appeal to one's inner fandom/sci-fi geek :D

Morocco could be wonderful for a sweeter, spicier, grown up scent.

All three are GC and impable :)

tinyvulture:

Crimson, Witch Dance & Scherezade sprung to mind right away for you (I hope you like Red Musk :D)

While they didn't react the same way on my weirdo skin... Druid and Elf are both lovely, walk in the woods scents that you might enjoy.

And actually Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla & Clove might be lovely for both of you if you don't mind a soft, skin scent without throw. I adore it :)

For KezzieZ:

Dormouse - A dizzying eddy of four teas brushed with light herbs and a breath of peony. (This seems light and fun, but with a quiet aspect too.)

The Book (Lupercalia 2016) - Brown leather, tonka, vanilla bourbon tar, and a thin whiff of rose. (Romantic and bookish!)

Jack - true Halloween pumpkin, spiced with nutmeg, glowing peach and murky clove. (Since you love fall/Halloween)

The Obsidian Widow- Pinot noir, dark myrrh, red sandalwood, black patchouli, night-blooming jasmine, and attar of rose (Masquerade ball made me think of this one, and it is definitely a more adult scent.)

(All but The Book are GC and impable!)

For tinyvulture:

Mokey - A gentle, contemplative fragrance: lilac blossoms, violet sugar, orris root, stephanotis, and osmanthus. (For the eternal optimist!)

Florence - The pearl of the Italian Renaissance. Elegant iris, bright berries, gilded amber and velvety spices. (Since you studied the Renaissance)

Lily Witch - Her interpretation is swathed in anise, lime, almond, and witchin’ herbs, and holds a bouquet of pale, graceful lilies. The end result is a sweet, nutty absinthe’d lime with a hint of spice and leather. (This seems herby and whimsical good for both the hippie side and someone who likes working with kids!)

Cleric -Rose amber, frankincense, myrrh, champaca flower, Peru balsam, cistus, palisander, cananga, hyssop, and narcissus absolute.(A nice soft nag champa-like incense blend for the yogi!)

Thanks, Scarlet Woodland and roseus! I appreciate the suggestions and all of them sound AWESOME. c:

Hopefully, some of the free imps that I get may include some of these. If not, I'll probably get some at a slightly later date.

If anyone has any ideas from that, then I'd love to hear them! c:

Yay! I went with Kunoichi for you first, as scent translates to female ninja and is one of BPAL's most elusively rare and HTF scents. It not only reflects your ninja-like talent to go unnoticed, but also has earnt its reputation in BPAL for being fairly unknown to those who don't look for it- and very well loved to those who do.

Your love of reading, winter vibes during Christmas, and fodness for warm scents- has led me to suggest Picture Books in Winter. I'd also like to put forth Euterpe, the muse for music and lyric poetry, to reflect your love of music and the arts. Speaking of arts... I also find Melpomene fitting for you as she represents tragedy and as per description, "inspires us with the ability to express our grief, loss, and the paint in our souls in a cathartic creative fashion" alongside . Given that you've also mentioned a preference for scents on the "adult" side which are light and fresh, I'm suggesting Dorian, which is quite a warm and sweet sugary tea scent uplifted by a squeeze of lemon. And despite not necessarily being read as a warm scent, I'd also like to propose Mrs. Dunbar...partially because you mentioned attending masquerade ball soon, which is quite a classy affair! As such, a scent of fine taste that is infused with light florals and crystalline vanilla- both quite ethereal (youthful) and mature (hopefully not granny, haha) in concept. I also propose The Golden Hour to reminisce the moment.

On the topic of light and fresh "adult" scents, for the idealist and romantic in you I suggest two Lupercalias, the first is part of the ever growing Shunga collection and the second is from the Ode to Aphrodite collection. The Blooming Flowers of Spring is a Lupercalia shunga with a naughty naughty label (hur hur) but the scent is a beautifully intoxicating, sweet and soft, honeyed floral with the glow and warmth from a light resin (white amber). Khrysee (greek for Golden) is vanilla amber and orange blossom: warm, sweet, slightly golden and lightly floral with a similar vibe to the seductive and sultry Snake Oil you've selected earlier.

___________________________

Here is my wider selection of GCs, LEs, rares and discontiued scents to reflect the many facets of your personality ;D:

Dorian: This blend is an artful deception: a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea.

Euterpe: Her scent is the joy of performing, the euphoria in song, and the passion inspired by all music: carnation and white poppy, honeysuckle, lemon, iris and white musk.

Khrysee: Vanilla amber and orange blossom.

Kunoichi: Black leather, white sandalwood, jasmine sambac, bourbon vanilla, narcissus, tonka absolute, and ylang ylang.

Melpomene: Her scent is rife with pathos, and inspires us with the ability to express our grief, loss, and the pain in our souls in a cathartic, creative fashion: dark cypress with mint, geranium, Bulgar lavender, orange blossom and passion flower.

Strings in the Earth and Air: White sage, white musk, honey myrtle, galbanum, lilac, and everlasting flower.

Mrs. Dunbar: A decorous, agreeable experience: crystalline vanilla musk, freesia, and white tea.

Picture Books in Winter: The wild joy of story time on a frosty winter morning: the well-loved, well-worn leather of old fairy tale books, the sweet mustiness of antique paper, fae glimmers of twinkling crystalline flowers, and a chunk of Scottish Tablet.

Serving Tea after Coitus: Green tea, heady honey, white plum, ambergris accord, and vanilla flower.

The Blooming Flowers of Spring: Honey, mimosa petals, and white amber.

The Golden Hour: The last fleeting moments of sunset, casting a perfect, magical, golden light across a damask-adorned dining room, bathing a father and daughter in an enchanted glow.

;O Yay for gaming!!

Thank you for the recs!! <3

Whoa! That's a lot of cool suggestions, celestia. Thanks!

Everyone's given me so many cool ones. I hope that I happen to get some as free imps in my first purchase or I might have to snag them myself. :P

Ah! there is just soooooooooo much to choose from! From the start to the finish, you are evidently aligned with being Good. Your Love for your children and that which is shown to your students is clearly so pure and whole that it reminds me of all the sugary playfulness contained in the scent..especially fitting as it is also perfect for the love you have of teaching young ones. They probably consider you a shining light in their lives... Dia probably resides in you somewhere! Such a patience is needing in The School-House (okay, in the school enviornment haha), that your love of history and art just seems to reflect how passionate you are about books and even though you may not have been to The Library of John Dee, you clearly have a vested interest in furthering your own knowledge.

For your willingness to go on adventures and enjoy the kind of fun that is intensive, Thunder and Blazes and manic sugary jolts of energy! I get the impression also, that you appreciate nature and balance from your text- so On the Porch and in the Rain are great reflections of this. Philommeides a laughter loving epithet of Aphrodite strikes me as a core of who you are and what you extract from doing the things you enjoy with those whom you love...and for the uncanny mention of being in the woods placed right before the mention of a hot beverage, I have also suggested Hell's Acres Yule Tree Farm. You definitely seem to enjoy all aspects life has to offer, even the finer, more indulgent things.. you might be The Light of Men's Lives (hahahaha- so cheesy but it begged to be here!).

____________________________________________________________________

Here is the more comprehensive list of everything I selected based on your dialogue about your personality XD

Dia: Divine, shining. White amber, coconut, white musk, oakmoss, and tobacco flower.
Good: Shimmering celestial musk with vanilla, white honey, acacia, and sugar cane.
Hell's Acres Yule Tree Farm: We have pyre-ready firewood for sale, plus free candy canes and hot cocoa for the kids! We also offer ceremonial flocking!
Love: Marshmallows and rose sugar with whipped vanilla cream and a hint of strawberry.
On the Porch in the Rain: A white chypre drenched in soft spring rain against a backdrop of gently swaying bamboo reeds.
Enchanted Wood Florist: Unmatched artistry! Skilled in terrestrial, extra-terrestrial, and dreamscape floristry, these are the only artisans on Earth that are qualified to work with Moon-trees.
Philommeides: Laughter loving. Peach wine, carnation, lemon peel, osmanthus, blood orange, wood violet, and tuberose.
The Lights of Men's Lives: The wax and smoke of millions upon millions of candles illuminating the walls of Death’s shadowy cave: some tall, straight, and strong, blazing with the fire of life, others dim and guttering.
The Library of John Dee: Worn leather bindings, the dry crackle of ancient paper, styrax and onycha, frankincense, a drop of candle wax, and the barest fleck of dried Tudor roses.
The School-House: Dandelion, white clover, balsam fir logs, and birchwood switches.
Thunder and Blazes: Leather, crushed grass, mud, sangre de grado, and crushed lemon candy.
Venus Genetrix: Venus the Progenitor Black amber and jasmine tea with 7-year aged vanilla bourbon absolute.

Yup! I broke down and got an atmosphere spray of The Golden Hour after I found a review describing what it essentially smells like since that's a limited edition. It does sound really nice and I'll try to make a review somewhere about it once I have and try it. c:

tinyvulture:

Crimson, Witch Dance & Scherezade sprung to mind right away for you (I hope you like Red Musk :D)

While they didn't react the same way on my weirdo skin... Druid and Elf are both lovely, walk in the woods scents that you might enjoy.

And actually Dead Leaves, Raw Leather, Bourbon Vanilla & Clove might be lovely for both of you if you don't mind a soft, skin scent without throw. I adore it :)

I love Witch Dance and Scherezade, so I'll definitely have to check out Crimson! And that Dead Leaves blend sounds lovely, I do love a good clove note. :wub3:

Aside from Florence which I adore (because of the Renaissance, you nailed it! ) these others haven't been on my radar. Definitely adding to my wishlist! Cleric sounds amazzzing.

Thank you all who took the time to think of suggestions for me, it is greatly appreciated and I think you all have a real talent for this!

I'm still new with Bpal, and I would really like some help from you lovely people. To be perfectly honest, I've been less than successful when it comes to finding a scent that fits me. I've gone through many imps and bottles that have been gifted to various friends of mine because, for some odd reason, fits them perfectly! I'm becoming discouraged...

Heavy introvert. I'm very shy. It's hard for me to open up to people, yet I often find myself in the position of a conduit for people's troubles.

I'm intuitive,I love atmosphere which initially drew me to bpal.

I love music, typically progressive (Yes, RUSH, Gojira ect.) I love Sci Fi. X-Files, Star Trek, Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica in particular.

I've been described by some as mysterious and intimidating although I don't understand this perception of me because I'm incredibly awkward and in my own head most of the time. Still innocent, I see the good in everything but I am drawn to the darkness of man. I don't spend much time there, I merely walk the line and observe to try and understand why and how it grows.

I have inattentive ADHD and tend to hyper focus on stories and certain surroundings. I love fog in the early morning, where everything's white and you could barely make out the silhouettes of the trees. I love the night where the streets are deserted. It's like walking in an alternate world.

I guess I want to be that mysterious person, but I don't want to completely lose that innocence. I want to try and be seductive in some way without it feeling out of place.

If anyone could help, I would be greatly indebted. I yearn to find my scent. I feel somewhat hollow and incomplete. Maybe it will help me convey myself a little better to others or give me the courage to try.

Thank you in advance if you are taking the time to read this, I really appreciate it.

@ChernobylLegacy: I'll just throw all these recommendations out there. Maybe some will sound exactly like what you're looking for; hopefully they'll at least help you narrow the field a bit!

-Little Sister is Watching You (because it sounds like a nice combination of innocence, sci-fi, and that observational temperament): A voice on the airwaves: electric, aldehydic cherry blossom.

-Mary Shelley (because if ever there was an example of an observer unraveling the darkness of man!): The scent of absinthe, lightning, stormclouds, and laudanum crashing through a veil of soft Victorian oriental perfume.

-Mother Ghost (because the character is unintentionally mysterious and intimidating; every time I watch Crimson Peak and I see Edith cringing away from her mother's ghost I'm internally shouting "STOP THAT SHE IS NICE AND SHE LOVES YOU AND SHE'S TRYING TO GIVE YOU ADVICE"): Love transcending time, space, and death: a cold, sheer white musk gleaming with black orchid, benzoin, labdanum, and blackened amber, and embraced by white rose, tea leaf, and vanilla flower.

-Kabuki (mysterious, but the cherry part sounds a bit playful): Compelling, complex, and utterly enigmatic: a luxuriant, exotic blend of cherry, red musk, and star anise.

-Mr. Qubit (because the description sounded something like what I'd imagine a classic sci-fi spaceship might smell like): Gleaming metal, electrical discharge, and a whiff of tinny cologne.

-Stonehenge at Dusk (because of the foggy damp stone note): Wiltshire’s burnt-tip orchids, a scattering of dandelions, crushed grass, wild daffodil, and chips of fog-wet bluestone.

-Nyx (for exploring the night): Named in honor of the primeval Greek Goddess of Night. A scent reflecting inky black skies and eternal desolation. Night-blooming jasmine, warmed by myrrh, lifted by the promise of rose.

-51 (because if X-Files is on your list of faves, I can't leave without listing the Area 51 scent!): Luminescent, glowing, and otherworldly: green mandarin, neroli, honeydew, white amber, guava, freesia, white and green musks hovering over desert scrub, smashed wood, and the dry, biting scent of night air over the Groom Lake salt flats.

@psychocygnet

51 and Little Sister is Watching You stick out the most to me. Ones I skipped over I must admit.

Thank you for your recomondations. You are very sweet! I can tell you put a lot of thought into it. I will definitely try to get my hands on some of these.

Hello. I've known about bpal for several years but have never tried any scents. There are so many it's very overwhelming! I hope to get some recommendations. Please excuse any errors as I'm on a mobile device.

I'm biologically female, 31, currently living in Florida, and have only ever lived and traveled in the American south. I'm a Sun Scorpio, moon Aries, and Virgo ascendant. I'm introverted, I wear grey on grey, I dyed my hair grey. Intp sometimes, istp the other times. I'm a real loner. I want to be one of those really cool, eccentric old ladies.

I consider myself a bit of a dandy. I love drawing and painting. I'm in love with black/white and dark moody colour photography. My favourite flowers are honeysuckle, mimosa, wisteria, and gardenia. My house is covered in curiosities, spread butterflies, books that are near 100 years old, crystals, fossils, paintings, cameras of various ages. I have my grandmother's souvenirs from various countries that I adore. Most of them are gold leafed Egyptian statues, though my favourite is a scarab box. I sometimes write poetry on my old typewriter. Wine making would be fun.

I love treasure hunting. Whether its digging through thriftshops, flea markets, or hunting for real treasure. Arrowheads, fossils, Amber, dinosaur bones, or ambergris. I've only sometimes found this stuff.

I have a ton of jazz and big band records that I regularly use. I listen to music for over 10 hours on most days. This past year I've really been into korean pop and hip hop. I love most music but have a real soft spot for proto punk. I really enjoy Lana Del Rey.

I was in college for a bit but eventually dropped out. I waffled between classics, art, theatre, and cosmetology. At one point I was told I couldn't change my major anymore. Personally I'd much rather have various trades/certificates than a degree.

I've only ever had two jobs;my favourite was filing paperwork at college, the second was working at a European bakery. The bakery showed me how much I love fruity desserts and espresso.

Im not into horror, Gore, serial killers, 80s movies/Tim Burton movies, or other really creepy things. I'm not into gaming either. I hate the stink of old things.

I'm really into cooking. Because I'm a perfectionist I try to make things as authentically as possible. I've been making a lot of korean, japanese, chinese dishes. Mostly I love the flavours of Cajun, floribbean, and all the other places that touch the gulf of Mexico. Tropical fruit is the best. My pantry has so much tea in it the scent is seeping out of the door cracks. I put lime in everything, aged rum goes in almost all my baking. Rum soothes my wisdom tooth ache :)

I hate living in the middle of nowhere, I miss the city. I've always lived within a 30 or less min drive to the ocean. Secluded beaches are superior, salty air is the best thing on earth. The ocean at night is wonderful, and beach storms are breathtaking.

I like the smell of carnivals, cotton candy and leather.

Oops, this got long.
