Beeswax, tobacco leaf, a whiff of smoke, and purple rose petals. Ok I so I told myself I wasn't going to come on here and write some ramble-y, amateurish review but never mind that... I this scent and I want to share my love. It is mainly beeswax to me/on me, with a creamy antique rose melded to it, a very very faint whisper of smoke (that seems to come and go) and what seems to be a background of tobacco. Well, honestly, I'm not really even sure I can quite distinguish the tobacco from the beeswax, I usually amp honey and beeswax, and tobacco tends to do some sort of comforting golden grounding thing on me so I think they are mingling into one sofly-gilded-beeswax thing in my nose. I'm reminded a bit of The Lights of Men's Lives, and a bit more of the the beeswax I smell The Gambols of Ghosts, which seems a thicker and more opaque wax to me. Flickering Lantern is a fairly sweet scent on me, but softly so, and the rose is doing some kind of creamy almost-edible thing that I find most delightful! It's romantic, sort of maternal, maybe, and just lovely. To me this scent is a creamy, softly-glowing, peachy-mauve. I'm not getting purple, my experience of this is romantic evening mauve.

Chrysanthemum incense and red carnation. In The Bottle: Whoa, hello chrysanthemum incense! Carnation, of course, lending its special, sweet spiciness to the mix! Wet On Skin: The incense is definitely front and center. It reminds me quite a bit of the champa incense note, actually, even as it retains a hint of the mum-vibe. (also I accidentally got a little in my mouth when I was sniffing my finger. Don't eat it!!!) Dry Down: A light incense, but still a stronger note just the same. The spice of the carnation is here, but precious little else of the sweet flower remains. I am hoping this will come around with some aging, but regardless, it's a great addition to any incense lover's collection. At worst, I will later with some of the Spanish Carnation SN when I want more of that red beauty in the mix!

Golden honey, white carnation, honey amber, ginger blossom, and white tea. Vagina Treasure on my skin is the wanton love child of Hair Loosened and Soiled in Mid Orgies HG and a slightly more clovey Morocco -- and better than either. Really. It smells to me like those two got together and made a greater sum. Golden honey-dominant, but with a nearly equal part of spicy carnation when fresh on. The spicy carnation settles quite a bit once this dries; at first it calls a lot of attention to itself. This has a lot of golden, sweet fullness, which is mostly honey, but I think amber is adding to it. I don't get standout notes of tea or ginger at any point, but I have a pleasant sense of Other Nice Things Happening in the Background. Lush, sexy brew.

Snow-dusted cherry blossoms and white honey. This is mostly the lab's minty snow note. Enough that I decided to wear Winter Landscape with it, which is also mostly the lab's minty snow note. It's lightly sweetened with a pale honey -- definitely a white honey, rather than something like O's main note. I get a little sweet floral, but it's barely there for me, and I wouldn't have guessed which type of flower it is.

Sugar dusted strawberries and mallow blossoms. My first two thoughts upon putting this on were, "This smells like the milk left over after eating a bowl of cereal. Or maybe strawberry milk!" It settles into something less childish fairly quickly. I have a few strawberry scents that like from bpal, but none that I love yet. I love this one. It's gentle strawberry and sweet milky marshmallow with just a touch of something perfumey. It's strawberry Stekkjarstaur.

Black amber, 7-year aged patchouli, cashmeran, and tobacco leaf. Dark, chewy, sexy, woodsy. The cashmeran keeps it from being "dirty", I think, and gives it bit of an elegant "clean" vibe. Good, strong, throw initially, and that peanut butter thing that patchouli sometimes does is only there for a brief moment. Not sweet. I think I love this. I think you will too. Edit: I'm wearing this again today, and after 5 hours, the patchouli is nearly gone; I mostly smell the cashmeran at this point, and it's a nice, classy, woody scent. The initial throw has disappeared, and this seems like more of a skin scent. Very unisex. I now know I love this.

White tobacco, leather, and white sandalwood. I wish more men knew it was possible to smell like this. Leather is nice and sharp right in the bottle, and then wet on the skin it is definitely standing on planks of sandalwood, with means pretty much any sweetness you're getting here will be from the tobacco -- and that's a great place to be! This is about as gentle a man-on-horseback scent as BPAL does, without getting into floral territory. Sure, dandies ride horses too -- but this one belongs more to the fellow who teaches them to ride (I like to imagine they'll end up hooking up behind the stables). He's clean, but he works hard for a living. You know? To my nose, the leather is the first to arrive and the last to leave, but it takes you to lots of subtle places along the way. If you want a dirtier leather, you'll want to try RIDING CROP instead -- it was definitely not cleaned thoroughly after use.

Apricot and blood orange with dragon's blood absolute, golden vanilla, chamomile, white honey, and oudh. Full disclosure- I adored the apricot-orange mix in 4 Seasons: Winter so much that I blind-bought TWO bottles of this just based on that other scent. Now I get to see if this was a genius move or a terrible idea! In The Bottle: Sweet apricot and tart blood orange, right off the bat. Wet On Skin: The orange starts to mellow as it warms on my skin, bringing the apricot right to the front of the line. The dragon's blood cuts through in the background with a slight edge of acridity, an unusual but perfect touch, considering the sweetness of the two dominant fruit notes. The white honey might be back there, too, but only by a hair. Dry Down: All of the above, but more finely tuned, less as separate entities, more an integrated phenomena. I get no vanilla or oudh, but they're not missed- this sweet, soft fruit scent is lovely as is, and I suspect that as we move further into spring, it will definitely become more and more of a go-to scent for me. In All: Low throw and just lovely, glad I got my bottles all lined up!

Honeyed vanilla and jasmine petals dirtied by labdanum, patchouli, and vetiver. Powdery sweet, very faint jasmine wearing off. So girly and gently pretty and soft. The labdanum, i believe, is adding a slight booziness to it. It doesn't scream a powdery scent, sometimes you want a scent like this though. Like a soft honey version of BPAL Euphrosyne (my moms favorite). Last at least a whole school day for me. This was also a winner for me!

Leather and a splash of gin, whiskey swirled tobacco, rose petals, and bourbon vanilla. Oh, gosh, am I the first? Here we go... In the bottle, it's sweet and boozy. It's a little bit overwhelming, a little nail polish remover-like, but have no fear! It's quite the morpher on the skin. Wet on the skin, the gin is initially the strongest note. Leather comes out a little bit to play. After a while, this settles into a BEAUTIFUL chewy tobacco, with a little sweetness from the vanilla. I want to point out how well-blended the rose petals are - they really are just a "swirl", adding a nice subtle floral top note. The leather really grounds everything and really feels like more of the "black jacket" variety. Overall: awesome, awesome, awesome. If you like your leather and tobacco scents on the boozy side, get this. My immediate scent associations: Tavern of Hell; Perversion; L'Heure Verte

White tobacco and apple, white musk and angelica, immortelle and terebinth, juniper and violet leaf. Ok I hate to be the first one to review this but I guess something is better than nothing... I put a little of this on without refreshing my memory of the notes and I went for a walk and I kept thinking "sweetened Christmas trees?" "sophisticated pine soap?" "this would be nice on a guy...". I couldn't figure out what I was smelling but it smelled kind of clean and herbal and pine forest-y. I guess I'm getting a lot of juniper and terebinth, and now that I see there is apple in it I can pick that up a bit too, along with a bit of clean white musk... not sure about the rest. It's nice. It has a winter-y feel to me.

Fir needle and white tea with crushed fresh ginger, white amber, apricot, and oakmoss. Interlude After Sake is a beautiful blend, mellow and light. The white tea and ginger dominate the opening; the fir needles I only smell the bottle and when it's very, very wet; sort of a whiff of balsam pillow over what is otherwise a sweet/clean leaning perfume. The apricot and amber lend the sweetness, the ginger and tea prevent it from hitting foodie territory. There may even be oakmoss in there contributing something nice, but I have no idea what oakmoss smells like on its own. This is a low-throw perfume oil on me. It reminds me a bit of Kumiho, which I had an imp of years ago and loved, but could not wear because it lasted 0.5 seconds on me before disappearing. Interlude has medium staying power; lasting about 6 hours before fading to a lovely apricot-amber glow. Lovely.

Wisteria and white sandalwood with lilac, white tea, champaca, black pepper, benzoin, and white clove. I was most excited about this scent as I love wisteria, and lilac is also one of my favorite notes. I am a bit wary of benzoin, since it tends to turn into a sappy sour vanilla on my skin in general. But here goes! Bottle: Whiff of wisteria, more than lilac, but certainly that type of airy glow that hovers around both spring flowers. Wet: Whoa! That's definitely a strong wisteria, and you can detect the more sharp lilac underneath. I definitely am getting a stronger pepper vibe, too. It's not a sharp high pitched warmth but it's like crushed peppercorns between the fingers. Over time, the pepper stays pretty consistent. The sharper petals stay very light, airy, purple, light purple. It's spicy, warm. Yet also blushing light violet? It's a very interesting scent at this stage. Over time, as it dries, it's staying a kind of overall neutrally warm scent, with the pepper staying stable, I think that I get a whiff of crushed incense, that's probably the champaca. The floral component of the champaca seems to be melding with the other two florals. It's veering towards wisteria as the dominant floral, as I'm getting a bit more sweetness and powdery purple. I'm not getting a straightforward 'clove,' and the benzoin is slightly souring the blend (not in a bad way, just adding a hint of chewy resin)... As it dries, my overall impression is: fascinating spicy, neutral to warm purple floral, with gray incense smoke trailing upwards. Deep huffs bring forwards wisteria blossoms and occasional airier kisses of lilac. Hmmm. Intriguing!

Red musk, orris root, and bergamot with blackcurrant, pink pepper, and red leather accord. Sweet and spicy. Dan Les Coulisses is dominated by red musk (the drier variety from scents like Witch Dance rather than the juicy red musk from Smut), with a prominent spicy note in the background. I'm guessing the spicy note is a combination of the pink pepper and red leather accord. I can rarely pull off leather notes, but this one is behaving. I can't pick out the orris, bergamot, or currant. Medium throw. Fits the image well.

Tuberose incense, blue wisteria, and oakmoss. Holy moly, this one starts off with a knock-you-over-backwards heady floral punch. I smell a lot of wisteria, I don't know what tuberose smells like, I read it's heady, so maybe it's in here too, along with a boat-load of wisteria. Like, wisteria for days. It's a good thing I love wisteria. This is intense, and the throw is intense, for the first 20 or 30 minutes or so after applying... then, suddenly, it calms down noticeably. The Storm of Wisteria begins to pass, and I start to smell incense, a lovely, soft, high-quality incense breaking through as the wisteria clouds thin. The wisteria continues to wear away gradually and gracefully over a few hours, and the incense stays pretty steady throughout; I can still smell a lovely, soft, vaguely-floral incense faintly on my wrist even around 8 or 9 hours later. I don't seem to get moss... the only scent I have that I get a lot of moss from is Fae. If there is moss here, it's probably not that moss. (And that's probably not helpful, sorry!) (Edit: Oh yeah... also, and when I smell this, I think of an etherial light dusty blue, or a pale blue with a slight slivery/grey tint... but I'm not sure I smell colors the same way other people do, maybe my nose marches to its own drummer or my scent-palate isn't sophisticated enough. /disclaimer)

White lavender and ambrette seed, grey patchouli, rum absolute, and vetiver. In the Bottle: Rum and lavender with a faint ambrette whiff On the Skin: Rum and lavender. Almost cakey sweet. Ambrette always reads as grey to me so with the grey patchouli and white lavender this is definitely a muted (but strong) scent only warmed by the rum. The play of the rum and lavender together almost gives an anise vibe. On the Drydown: This has massive throw. It's not a happy scent but rahter broody and melancholy. The lavender is strong! and at times almost takes over but the rum always reins it back in. Eventually the vetiver creeps in and turns an already grey scent ashen. Masterful and lovely. A perfect winters day scent.

Golden amber, juniper berry, white sage, leather, cardamom, and black pepper. I'm still waiting for this scent to dry down and hoping the golden amber is a bit more prominent however for the most part this is a heavy juniper berry blend. The leather and black pepper make it an equally dark scent. I can't really discern white sage at this point but I think it blends in with the juniper berry in a fascinating way.

Green tea and honey with a touch of wasabi. In the bottle it smells like a pine sort of potpourri. On skin, a very high pitched green tea. It takes a moment for the astringent potpourri like scent to separate into individual notes. I can smell the honey only when I waft my wrist up to my nose. The wasabi is interesting, and definitely does to your nose the fire dance that wasabi usually does. It's delectable- it's a cup of green tea on a tray with wasabi, possibly waiting for sushi. The only problem I have is that every now and then it becomes a blended potpourri. It is a fresh scent, and the honey grows a little stronger as the wear goes on...and it dries into a very dry green tea sweetened by honey. I think it's growing on me.

Green tea and honey with orange peel, hay absolute, bergamot, and cypress. Wet/fresh on: green tea and bitter orange peel/bergamot, quite sharp no honey yet, no hay, no cyprus. A fresh scent, very alive. 20-30 mins later, the honey has blossomed, and it is neither a light airy honey nor a thick syrupy one but a golden medium-bodied one (my favorite). The bitterness/sharpness has softened considerably and something else is emerging... something soft, subtle, and woodsy underneath. After about 2.5-3 hours the tea has mellowed to faintness and its mostly a honey-woods scent. To be fair, I tried this on the back of my hand and my hands have been hella dry lately. I need to try this again on my wrist or crook of my arm and see if the tea sticks around longer on properly moisturized skin. I like all the stages of this so far but Im in the market for a nice tea scent so ideally Id like to smell the tea for longer.

You dainty dame, for that you be so coy, I will so pluck your plumes as you shall say no more: Go, go, go, seek some other where, importune me no more. Queen Elizabeth I Red roses, red carnation, and grandiflorum jasmine grounded by regal amber and sweet, dark patchouli. In the bottle, the roses dominate everything, as they tend to do (and rightly so). Naturally, as soon as it hits the skin the jasmine rises off of it like smoke, as it tends to do (and again, rightly so). The carnation does its thing spicing up the background, making this bouquet appear even fuller. The amber and patchouli are here to make sure it's not mistaken for a celebratory one -- there's a distinct heaviness, an ache. Overall the blend is a bold gesture, and definitely a disdainful one, but throbs with irrepressible desire, and I personally found the overall effect quite consoling -- I think that's the amber, breathing gently at the very end.

Madagascan vanilla, rice powder, iris root, and pale musk. Of the Lupercalia hair glosses I sniffed, The Moon Reflected in Every Rice Paddy made the greatest first impression. On that note, I actually tried it out in my hair and it's a beautiful, creamy, almost marshmallow-y scent without being saccharine. Not too dry or powdery. I'm seriously considering a full bottle.

Amber and balsam peru with patchouli, blood orange, and rose geranium. This was the luper that I was most excited for this year, because I adore geranium and patchouli. My only hesitation was with the blood orange, because citrus can go too sour on me, and I wanted this to be an herbal-spicy-rich-earthy-amber sort of fragrance. I thought that the other, heavier notes would overpower the citrus, but that is not the case. In the bottle, I get creamy orange and nothing else. On my skin, a big blast of sour, tart orange. 15 minutes later, still mostly orange, but I think I can pick out a sweet, smooth, chocolatey patchouli and dry, sandalwood-like wood notes. Sadly, I can't really pick out the rose geranium at all. I get none of its green spiciness. I don't get any green balsam notes either. A half hour in, this is a barely there skin scent that's mostly baby powdery amber and a smear of sour orange. My biggest hope of the Lupers this year is my biggest disappointment

[No additional description given.] Ok, so usually I totally stay away from anything that has patchouli in it... BUT I have learned that there are times when the Lab/Post has a way of blending it that makes it less hippie-ish, which is what I never liked about patch. SO I thought I would try this! I haven't sprayed in my hair, so this is just sniffing in the bottle... I might edit this once I do a proper hair test. Sniffing in the bottle I do get chocolate... and something pale and sweet. That might be the tea note, but it doesn't seem like the usual tea scent I have smelled in other blends. Also, it might be how the patch is blended with the tea and chocolate, but it almost seems like it is a little bit of a licorice smell there. My nose isn't at 100% right now because of allergies, but this seems like it will be a nice light blend despite it being patch and dk chocolate in there. Update: Got this in my hair....sadly, this isn't for me. The chocolate note is nice, but the tea and patch notes together goes odd. Still get that licorice vibe and I am not a licorice fan. Oh well.... that's how it goes!

Hay absolute, chrysanthemum incense, labdanum, tobacco leaf, and wild plum. First impression "Ooh! This smells fancy". Incensed plum with floral undertone. Good throw and wear length. I washed my hair and still got a whiff the next day. I'm not really an incense person but I am a hay fiend and looking for more plum.

White sandalwood, opium tar, tobacco leaf, and white amber. This is a gorgeous scent. I would say that all of the notes are equally represented both wet and on the dry down. The sandalwood and opium tar are more prominent but in general I find tobacco leaf and white amber to be more subtle scents. The throw is excellent and the scent sticks around for quite some time. This is definitely a sandalwood heavy scent.
