    Pumpkin Chypre

A gleaming auburn chypre shot through with streaks of pumpkin. This smells predominately like butterscotch, vetiver, and patchouli to me, with straps of gleaming black leather. It is the olfactory equivalent of drinking a tumbler of scotch neat, caramelized and raw with an aftertaste of peat. Or like eating candy in old study haunted by the ghosts of F. Scott Fitzgerald and Hemingway making out on the desk. Sexy, sophisticated, gender-bending. The far dry down of Pumpkin Chypre is gorgeously huffable, but I still think it needs aging to come into its full glory. Strong throw and wear length. I received a rather startled compliment for this one, perhaps because I dont have anything else like it in my collection, but it is in roughly the same vein as other warm, brown, sultry scents such as The Antikythera Mechanism, Perversion, and The Old Goblin.

    Pumpkin Spice Perversion

You dirty bird. Incredibly sexy and a must-have for any Perversion fans. Everything dark and alluring about Perversion is still here, but it's shot through with bright streaks of the pumpkin spice. In that way, it smells exactly like you'd expect it to - it doesn't become a different creation. Absolutely gorgeous scent for adventurous autumn nights.

    Pumpkin Brownies

Swirled with caramel and topped with sour cream frosting. A pumpkin I can wear! This is so delicious and not a drop of spices to make it smell like a candle. eta: There is a little bit of something that smells a little spicy as it dries down, but it doesn't really smell like cinnamon. Anyway, I decided to take one for the team and slathered it on my inner elbows directly after a bath. No reaction! I get massive painful welts from cinnamon, especially when I'm fresh from the shower, so I don't think this is cinnamon I'm detecting. I have no idea what it is though.

    Blood Squib

[No additional description provided.] Rich cherry, cherry syrup and a touch of spice. There may ba a small trace of almond. Strong throw and lasting power. Quiet artificial smelling, but not bad.
  5. Dark Alice

    Deserted Theater Atmosphere Spray

Cracked oak beams, sagging, moth-shredded velvet curtains, beeswax and streaks of ancient greasepaint, shadows of broken props, a memory of tobacco smoke, a discarded ballet slipper, and a broken marionette. This is a favorite. I smelled red leather, like the old theater, mahogany and other wood.I love it.

    Unsettling Clear Plastic Mask

[No additional description provided.] I got this one out of curiosity... and it was not my jam. I mean, to be fair... saying that kind of reminds me of in Arrested Development when Michael finds a paper bag in the freezer labeled "Dead Dove Do Not Eat," and opens it to see what's inside and then says "I honestly don't know what I was expecting." So, yes, this smells like the inside of a plastic mask. In the bottle: Lightly citrus and with almost a hint of straw On the skin: Slightly acrid, stale plastic Dry down: Just sort of bitter and hard to identify. My verdict is that I kind of hate it? INTERESTINGLY, I think it would be fun as a layering scent; it seems to have the ability to fake-ify whatever you put over it. Like for example, putting a chocolatey scent over it made it smell like a scratch and sniff chocolate sticker. Putting something with a strong strawberry scent over it makes it smell like a Strawberry Shortcake doll from the 80's.
  7. [No additional description provided.] No reviews on this beauty??! On first spray, I get a blast of blueberries- so pretty! The leaves on this comes out slowly and twine together with the fruit. I am not sure what "blueberry chypre" is, as the blueberry note is similar to the one in Ella and Blueberry Pumpkin Muffin. Hmm perhaps a bit more perfumey. The dead leaves note is gorgeous. This is very long lasting, but not much throw. Love the combination and may treat myself to a full bottle before they come down. This is different enough from my other Dead Leave scents to have a place in my arsenal.

    Singularly At Ease

The officers were satisfied. My manner had convinced them. I was singularly at ease. They sat, and while I answered cheerily, they chatted of familiar things. But, ere long, I felt myself getting pale and wished them gone. My head ached, and I fancied a ringing in my ears: but still they sat and still chatted. Rum cakes and black tea, blueberry scones and biscuits. On my skin, wet: Kinda sour, a little bit boozy On my skin, dry: Boozy fruity muffins After several hours: Sugary fruity muffins with a splash of booziness
  9. TheIceMaiden

    White Pumpkin Floss

White chocolate and marshmallow pumpkin floss! Yum! This is the lightly-spiced pumpkin floss note mixed with a light marshmallow note. As it dries, the marshmallow gets stronger and the pumpkin tones down a bit. The white chocolate comes out in the drydown. This reminds me of a past Weenie favourite, Marshmallow Pumpkin, but more subdued and with a touch more spice. The throw is somewhat light and the staying power is moderate, but it's been my experience that pumpkin scents age beautifully.

    Violent Gesticulations

No doubt I now grew very pale; but I talked more fluently, and with a heightened voice. Yet the sound increased and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound much such a sound as a watch makes when enveloped in cotton. I gasped for breath and yet the officers heard it not. I talked more quickly more vehemently; but the noise steadily increased. I arose and argued about trifles, in a high key and with violent gesticulations; but the noise steadily increased. Why would they not be gone? An erratic pomegranate mint, high-pitched and flailing with eucalyptus, above a throbbing core of black musk. In the bottle: Dominated by the musk and eucalptus, with mint following and a vague, hard to identify fruitiness. Wet on skin: Stronger mint and eucalptus with that the musk to round it out, with that same sweetness as in the bottle. Dry on skin: Very well-balanced, softly masculine but with a sweetness that keeps it from really being manly. Clean without being astringent. On me, the pomegranate never really smells specifically like pomegranate; it comes across as slightly tangy note that keeps this one really interesting and very complex. This one is wonderful - definitely a keeper. ETA: This is actually my new favorite.

    Groan of Mortal Terror

Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of mortal terror. It was not a groan of pain or of grief oh, no! it was the low stifled sound that arises from the bottom of the soul when overcharged with awe. I knew the sound well. Many a night, just at midnight, when all the world slept, it has welled up from my own bosom, deepening, with its dreadful echo, the terrors that distracted me. I say I knew it well.

Opaque grey amber and opoponax swelling up like thick smoke, pressed under the weight of baleful tobacco. The grey amber, opoponax and smoke blend really well. The tobacco gets strong for a minute and then it backs off and you are left with this mildly sweet tobacco and grey amber scent. This will age well and is extremely well blended. I love it!

    In a Whispering Gallery

That whisper takes the voice Of a Spirit, speaking to me, Close, but invisible, And throws me under a spell At the kindling vision it brings; And for a moment I rejoice, And believe in transcendent things That would make of this muddy earth A spot for the splendid birth Of everlasting lives, Whereto no night arrives; And this gaunt gray gallery A tabernacle of worth On this drab-aired afternoon, When you can barely see Across its hazed lacune If opposite aught there be Of fleshed humanity Wherewith I may commune; Or if the voice so near Be a soul’s voice floating here. —Thomas Hardy Marbled white iris, white tobacco flower, Italian bergamot, white leather, and Mysore sandalwood. Iris and tobacco flower on wet, but it dries to a white sandalwood with touches of leather. So it goes from a very cold white floral blend to a sort of powdery white leather blend. Low throw but good wear length.

    Chocolate Blood

A sideways ode to Hitchcocks Psycho, by way of Bosco Chocolate Syrup. In the bottle: chocolate syrup, sweet and sticky and overpowering. I almost put this down, but decided to give it a go anyway. Wet: A light, milky chocolate that makes me think of a hot fudge sundae, honestly. It's pleasant, but not overpowering. The chocolate is there, and a bit of sugar and vanilla, but it's still overall that cheap sweet chocolate smell. Dry: It develops a lot more complexity beyond 'chocolate,' but it's hard to pin down. The chocolate loses prominence very quickly, but a 'warmth' remains -- some kind of musk, I think, but tempered so that it's still faintly sweet. All in all, it lasted about 2 hours before I had to reapply. Turns slightly powdery at the end. In sum: I'm a fan! It's a surprisingly less foodie scent than I initially expected from a sniff, but I'm a big fan, as someone who normally doesn't go for food scents at all. I wish I had a better nose to pick out some of the other scent stuff going on here.
  14. [No additional description provided.] In the bottle, this is intense black cherry and bourbon. Super sweet, super boozy; can't make out the dead leaves at all. After applying, the dead leaf note amps up a lot and balances out the sweetness/booziness nicely. The orange note also comes out more, but it stays mostly in the background. After a couple hours the cherry and bourbon notes are still there, but they're much more subtle and blend well with the dead leaf note. Overall, I'd say the black cherry is the strongest note here, but the dead leaves keep it from getting into sickly sweet territory. The notes balance out in such a way that the end result is a warmer, sweeter take on the Lab's dead leaf note.

    Plastic Pumpkin Candy Tub

[No additional description provided.] It's a hard little number to figure out. First what caught my attention wasn't a plastic smell at all. It was the orange smell. Slightly diluted by something else but very much there. It reminded me more of orange suckers then actual orange. Then after a bit the chemical smell showed up. It smelled like a cross between soft plastic and what reminds me of electrical tape. Ok so after a bit it turns into the smell of a plastic pumpkin that has been sitting with no candy in it for a few days. The candy smell lingers a bit (Orange suckers) but it's mostly chemical. I'm sort of sad about this one. I was hoping for that huge candy smell (Bubble gum, kit kats, those orange and black peanut butter candies, Jolly Ranchers, etc.) mixed with the plastic fume that you get by smashing your face into the pumpkin opening. Long lost childhood memories.
  16. [No additional description provided.] Imagine youve invited your 3 favorite people to eat dinner with you on Halloween. All three are smart, interesting and attractive and youre excited because youre sure theyre going to love each other. But unexpectedly something goes awry! When the three arrive, not only are they not talking, they arent even acknowledging the others. OMG! Is the moon in Mercury? Thats how this blend affected me. Individually, the 3 notes are among my Top 10, especially the BPAL earthy, green-spiced dead leaves (as in Pile of Fallen Leaves). It can be mid-August with temps in the hundreds and murderous humidity but a sniff of the SN tricks my brain into imagining mushrooms, rain-soaked earth and drifts of maple leaves outside. The smooth, soothing, spicy warmth of cedar seemed like a natural complement to the bite of green, maybe adding a subtly darker spice to the base. I wasnt so sure about the Lemon Verbena, even though LOccitane Lemon Verbena soap is almost always in a soap dish somewhere in my house. At best, I reasoned, it would work with the green spice of the leaves to enhance their invigorating rush. At worst I worried it might sink the boat. Im not savvy enough to know if thats where this Dead Leaves blend veered off course. But thats my guess since I got the references to Lemon Pledge I remember from reviews of other blends. Color me Sad. Hoping time would encourage the notes to cooperate, I was about to store my bottle. Then, on a whim, I decided to try a 50/50 mix with some of my beloved Pile of Dead Leaves. The result is a greener, spicier fragrance that seems more grounded (or rounded) than either blend alone. Im completely delighted with this serendipitous concoction. Earlier, I had tried layering the two but being in the same bottle enables them to enjoy each others company more fully. OCTOBER 2018: What a difference a year makes! The 3 components have commingled and the result seems very nearly perfect to my nose - deeper, rounder and smoother, if a green scent can be described as round. I havent bought a backup bottle in years but its definitely time.

    Apple Butter Rum

Spiced rum with cinnamon, apple butter, nutmeg, and thick vanilla cream. Had to get this one... apple is almost always a win note for me! In the bottle... smells of a pleasantly sweet apple and vanilla cream. It smells buttery, but not butter as in on popcorn or toast! On skin, oh this is so good!! It is a still, creamy vanilla apple! The rum comes out a bit... not getting any spice from this as of yet. As it dries, it stays close to my skin, but it keeps the vanilla/apple scent. Like a lightly baked apple that was dipped in heavy cream. This is very good!! If you are afraid of the cinnnamon and/or nutmeg, don't be. That are way in the background...this smells so good and I am hoping it will get better with age. If not, it is still a wonderful winner!! Edit to add: Been about 45 minutes and this is still going strong and yummy. The nutmeg comes out at last, but it is still a background player!

    Shuttered Asylum Atmosphere Spray

Decades of dust clashing with antiseptic. The mouldering canvas and leather of discarded strait-jackets. Crusts of blood threading between shattered tiles. Wet rubber padding. Electricity-scarred metal gurneys. Crushed pill casings and dribbles of sticky laudanum. This is the most complex atmosphere spray I have ever smelled. The leather in this is very reminiscent of Adam, and the blood note is very reminiscent of Quintessence of Dust. It smells cold and wet without being aquatic, I think there is some eucalyptus in here. When I had first smelled this I thought it was a dupe for Adam, however testing it again I get a very different scent than Adam. The "wet rubber padding" aka eucalyptus and "leather" is what I smell the most, with dust and blood in the background. It is very evocative of a survival horror game. This scent is very unique and spot-on with creating an eerie atmosphere. Would I want my home to smell like this? Probably not. Will I be keeping my decant? Definitely, it is a work of art.

    Louder! Louder! Louder! Bath Bomb

Almighty God! no, no! They heard! they suspected! they knew! they were making a mockery of my horror! this I thought, and this I think. But anything was better than this agony! Anything was more tolerable than this derision! I could bear those hypocritical smiles no longer! I felt that I must scream or die! and now again! hark! louder! louder! louder! louder! A pulsating dragons blood and blood musk bath fizz. Vegan, handmade, cruelty-free bath bombs crafted by Dream Drop Bath Bombs. OMG FIRST? I will take the plunge (heh heh bath joke) simply because right now I'm just completely fakakakakakata verklempt over this scent! I am massively regretful that I only bought two ... I had a very good feeling about the combination of dragon's blood and blood musk fizz, but you never really know what something will smell like until you get it. I will try to describe ... it's shmexy, sensuous, ever-so-slightly sinful smelling. The musk is, indeed, somehow fizzy and bloody and the dragon's blood (which often to me smells like a lush hothouse white flower, which is not a bad thing at all) just blends with this to make it smell like ... well, a spicy hot incensey resiny boudoir that you never ever ever want to stop sniffing. This is maybe the single most truly huffable scent ever ... The bath bomb itself is GORGEOUS ... with little tiny "droplets of blood" I think on top LOL ... If you love your bath smelling sexy and sensuous and kind of the way I'd imagine Theda Bara's baignoir would have smelled, and you can get your hands on one or more of these babies (or perhaps Puddin' will consider taking this amazing scent and offering an entire line of bath goods in it ... bombs, bath oils, lotions, candles, you name it, I'll buy it!) DO NOT HESITATE ... and I promise you that if you get it and don't love it, I'll take it off your hands
  20. White icing skeletons, sour gummi worms, red licorice bloodstains, chocolate werewolf prints, and pretzel stick vampire stakes. I get gingerbread, white icing, a hint of chocolate and licorice. This really reminds me to a Yule Gingerbread scent. More candy in it than the typical Yule Gingerbread combination, but yeah, it smells like a mix between Halloween and Christmas. Medium throw and wear length.

    Pumpkin Latte Hair Gloss

Espresso, pumpkin syrup, smoky vanilla bean, milk, raw sugar, and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. I always have to try anything the Post (or Lab) puts out that has coffee in it. Again, my sniffer is working at about 96%, so I will do my best. Sniffing, oh yum...I get the espresso and pumpkin first! Very rich and so good. Sprayed in my damp hair, I get all the notes right away! After a few minutes, I get the milky and smoky vanilla. The espresso and pumpkin take a back seat, but this is still so very good. If you loved this in perfume form, then get this. It is also surprisingly not heavy... present, but it stays close to me and has a low to medium throw. Again though, my nose isn't all there. But I think this is a wonderful winner!
  22. [No additional description provided.] The hemp and moss combine with the dead leaves so I end with something very green and almost tomato leaf like, with a base of dirty frankincense. Again, not really a dead leaves blend. More like autumn in a dying garden patch. Good throw and wear length.

    Pumpkin Spice Rum Hair Gloss

For spiking that latte. (We won’t tell.) I'm the first?? Ok then!! Here we go! Got a decant of this.... sniffing, lots of pumpkin spice... and, not getting much rum. Maybe a couple drops of it. In damp hair, this is really nice! It is very pumpkin spice...still not detecting much rum there, but that is ok. I am a nut for anything pumpkin scented. This has a medium throw on me and doesn't change much. It isn't a bakery pumpkin spice either... it has an edge to it, but at the same time sticks close. Now, I had tried the Pumpkin Spice Everything HG and that one was a bit too much for me, so if that is you, then try this because it is like that but on a much mellower scale.

    My Secret Deeds Hair Gloss

Upon the eighth night I was more than usually cautious in opening the door. A watch’s minute hand moves more quickly than did mine. Never before that night had I felt the extent of my own powers — of my sagacity. I could scarcely contain my feelings of triumph. To think that there I was, opening the door, little by little, and he not even to dream of my secret deeds or thoughts. I fairly chuckled at the idea; and perhaps he heard me; for he moved on the bed suddenly, as if startled. Now you may think that I drew back — but no. His room was as black as pitch with the thick darkness, (for the shutters were close fastened, through fear of robbers,) and so I knew that he could not see the opening of the door, and I kept pushing it on steadily, steadily. Thick darkness, black as pitch: opoponax, oily labdanum, and birch tar disrupted by a bubbling carnation chuckle. I can't believe no one has reviewed this! This is honestly my new favorite. I'm hoarding this like crazy. This GORGEOUS, rich and spicy end resinous and sweet. This is the scent I've been looking for with scents like Lydia and Midnight Mass. The carnation is the perfect addition to all these luscious resins, and there's no stage of this I don't love. It lasts ages and it's already gotten me a ton of compliments. Beautiful. Can't rave enough!
  25. And every night, about midnight, I turned the latch of his door and opened it oh so gently! And then, when I had made an opening sufficient for my head, I put in a dark lantern, all closed, closed, that no light shone out, and then I thrust in my head. Oh, you would have laughed to see how cunningly I thrust it in! I moved it slowly very, very slowly, so that I might not disturb the old mans sleep. It took me an hour to place my whole head within the opening so far that I could see him as he lay upon his bed. Ha! would a madman have been so wise as this, And then, when my head was well in the room, I undid the lantern cautiously oh, so cautiously cautiously (for the hinges creaked) I undid it just so much that a single thin ray fell upon the vulture eye. And this I did for seven long nights every night just at midnight but I found the eye always closed; and so it was impossible to do the work; for it was not the old man who vexed me, but his Evil Eye. And every morning, when the day broke, I went boldly into the chamber, and spoke courageously to him, calling him by name in a hearty tone, and inquiring how he has passed the night. So you see he would have been a very profound old man, indeed, to suspect that every night, just at twelve, I looked in upon him while he slept. Midnight observations and false cheer: moon-shrouded indigo musk illuminated by a thin, wavering amber light, punctuated with erratic bursts of nerolis sharp affability. This is definitely going on my list of most favorite scents ever. The amber is deep and warm, and the combination with the musk reminds me somewhat of Haunted. The musk is hard for me to describe but it's cool-toned and narcotic. I get just a little halo of floral from the neroli. It's such a beautiful and addicting scent.
