In the imp: dry and herbal, almost grassy hyssop. Wet: Hyssop and frankincense. Green incense Dry: pretty much the same. Feels like a drying meadow.

In the imp: super sweet pomegranate syrup. Wet: Less sweet pomegranate and a tiny bit of red rose. Dry: The rose and pomegranate combination is gorgeous. I get red rose, but it is softened by the fruity sweetness of the pomegranate. Youthful and playful but not girlish to me.

    Veritas

The essence of honesty, integrity, and veracity: frankincense, white carnation, angelica, chamomile, and heliotrope. Gritty, bright frankincense and a little carnation. I swear I get cedar too. Soft, woodsy-floral powder on me.

    Sybaris

Wow this is the first time I've really enjoyed violets on my skin that I can recall. They do not go too sweet or powdery on me. Nice mysterious flowers with a good dose of sweet incense and tonka. A swirling, narcotic blend.

    Drink Me

In the imp: syrupy and sweet. Like a buttery toffee drink. Wet: Buttery toffee and hints of tart cherry. Dry: It smells like Christmas. There's a delicious buttery, generalizes "sweets" smell with hints of tart cherry (and maybe pineapple if I search). A delicious foodie scent, and I want to eat something that smells like this!

I LOVE dry cocoa scents. This is a rich dark cocoa and light dusting of sweet cinnamon with bit of a creaminess underneath.

    Golden Champa Attar

In the imp: light nag champa-esque incense Wet: pretty much the same Dry: soft floral incense powder, but it threatens to go a little sharp.

When I first smelled this before looking at the notes all I could think of was cool, crisp water. It's a very clean and sophisticated smell. I definitely get wool and linen, with a just touches of pine and lime. Refined and handsome, love this almost as much as Sherlock and will probably have to get both for my guy.

    Hecate

In the imp: sweet almond. Smells like pastries. Wet: grape candy borderline cough syrup. Dry: dark musky almond, which stays nutty and doesn't go into cherry territory. I quite like it though it's not something I'd really wear as a perfume.

The Curtain of the Temple was Torn in Two

This is very cinnamon heavy on me, a nice cinnamon though. And it doesn't burn on me at all which is nice. As it dries a get a hearty warmth and depth from the resins. It's basically cinnamon incense on me, which is not bad at all!

    The Drunk Astronomers

Hm I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I love the bright amber and the very accurate jasmine tea I get, but the blood musk might not be for me. The musk seems fruity to me almost, and it's not going well with the tea on me. As it dries down it fades a bit and lets the tea shine more but I think just a decant is a enough for me.

    Cozy scents

I love coffee scents for coziness. Both of the current Coffee Buttercream scents are super cozy for me, as well as El Dia de los Reyes. Seconding Haunted as well, musky amber amber feels like a cozy sweater. Others I like in that vein are Palmyra and Morocco.

    Seven Word Story: Envy

Had so much hope for this but on me this is dusty orris and sandalwood, with a little something bitter in the background. Envious of all the people it does work on!

This reminds me a lot of Waiting but not aquatic. The silver nitrate accord is reminiscent of the asphalt note to me. An interesting, atmospheric cool-toned amber scent. This one has been the most evoking of an eclipse to me, mysterious and obscured is the vibe I get.

    Disastrous Twilight

Gorgeous: soft ethereal blue amber and ylang ylang are the notes I get most prominently. But I agree with the soft Oriental description completely. It smells like a soft Shunga to me. However this disappears quite quickly on my skin or else it would definitely be a bottle purchase!

    Paying Her Respects

Lovely! The jasmine is light and sweet with just the barest hint of headiness. The tobacco comes out softly as it dries but remains indistinct. This is definitely not a grown up womanly heady jasmine and tobacco blend, it is soft and youthful. The jasmine reminds me a bit of the black jasmine in Mare Vaporum but sweeter and less heady. It has the same dissipating, shadowy effect as it dries.

    In Hideous Darkness

In the imp: a dark greeness I read as pine or some other evergreen but looking at the notes I think is cedar and vetiver. Wet: a cloud of ambergris, and then a tumble of other notes. Vetiver and cedar still dominating the conversation. Dry: while still vetiver and cedar foreword, the amber and tobacco add sweetness and warmth. I get a little sage over the top. I definitely agree this is a smoky gray blend.

    Mabel

Wet this was slightly vegetal. I was told jalepeno and couldn't shake that idea for a while. Dry it's a sweet tobacco and ambergris scent. It is basically Hag Grey in perfume form on me.

    Eclipses Be

The clove sort stomps all over this for a while, but I get a nice spicy amber and carnation after a few hours of wear.

    Dancing Among the Tombs

In the bottle I get a whiff of sweet jasmine and soft greens. I was worried that this would be too mossy on me but dry I get a soft Dorian and jasmine combo that is gorgeous. The jasmine reminds me of the one in La Prostition et la Folie, sweet and not indolic to me at all. There is a touch of fresh greens underneath as well. I'm in love!

    Daybreak

I agree that the lavender is a lot like the one in TKO, but less sugared. There is something airy about it, and just a faint herbal edge. Underneath I get a whiff of creamy coconut. Simply beautiful.

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

Bought this for my guy for the mentions of Dorian, and it does reminds me of Dorian, but fresher and lighter. On me, s it dries I get a mossy greeness over everything, and I wonder if it is in the fougere? On my guy however I distinctly get a creamy earl grey with a splash of fresh clean cologne.

    Venus Genetrix

Absolutely stunning. Deep rich amber complemented perfectly by jasmine tea. The jasmine is light and ethereal, draped over a deep green tea. Generally in BPAL I find green tea to be a very bright and crisp note (perhaps because it is so often paired with citrus?). But here it is more true to life to me, fresh and green but with an light earthy warmth. I think the vanilla is in part adding some of the warmth and it melds with the amber seamlessly. In love! Hopefully I can find some more.

    Paper Kite

The coconut in this seems very similar to that of Coconut Meat SN. Very tropical and beachy but not synthetic. I get a little sugar and some heat from the black pepper. While I do love it I get enough of my coconut needs from other scents (such as Coconut Meat) that I feel the need to track more of this down, delicious as it is!

    Qandisa

Sharp, smoky vetiver in the imp almost scares me off completely. But on my skin it's not so bad. Smoky and sweet but with a touch of bright lemon. Fun to try!
