    Comparison of Celebrated Beauties

This is the first oil with an almond note that has worked for me, and I am pleased as punch! The almond blossom smells like delicious almond extract, sweetened by the vanilla cream. I can't necessarily pick out the mimosa, but it seems as if it's giving the blend a bit of brightness. Really lovely.
  2. Oh my- this is lovely. I agree that it is warm and romantic. It is also pretty foody to my nose, which surprised me. It smells like a plate of honeyed rose cakes with almonds and a halo of golden musk. I'm also reminded by Love, minus the strawberry note.

Prelude to the Bath Bath Oil

White tea, golden apricot, and orange blossom. I didn't expect to love this nearly as much as I do, since I'm not really a lover of fruit scents. It is such a happy scent! The apricot (perfect, ripe, and juicy) is the strongest note and is sweetened, but not overly, by the orange blossom, which nearly smells like honeysuckle to me. There is a hint of greenness as well, which I think is the white tea note. So so good. If I get a BPTP backup from this collection, this is the one.

    Balefire Atmosphere Spray

Wow- this is one of the most beautiful atmosphere sprays that I've ever had the pleasure of using. I get the lovely leaf note from Harvest Moon 2013 (smells like real honeysuckle to me and quite possibly is my favorite smell on the planet) with dry apple, myrrh, and sweet smoke. It's definitely moody, but there's also a really lovely lightness to it. I will use this spray year round, especially during the cooler rainy days here that happen so often in the NW.

    Scents for thesis defense?

Yes! ^ My go-to scent for interviews and bad days is Love, because it makes me think happy, fuzzy thoughts that helps to quell my anxiety. I also like the citrus idea. I would find something that tends to be a crowd-pleasing scent, as opposed to something strong that would divide a crowd. Does that make sense?

The Shining Dimple of Love Bath Oil

I was disappointed with this one at first sniff. From the bottle, I mostly smell the same sharpness that I got from Ice Princess and Winter Maiden. I think here that it may be the tea leaf. I dabbed a bit of the oil from the inside of the neck of the bottle and rubbed it into my hand and was amazed. The sharpness faded away entirely and left behind a lovely subdued vanilla tea. I've only smelled a sniffie of Antique Lace, but I think that Shining Dimple comes closest to smelling like it of all of the BPAL vanillas that I've tried. I'm really glad that I didn't put this one up for swaps right after smelling it in the bottle. I'm so happy to have this one in my collection!

    Selbstverliebt Bath Oil

Wheeeeee sweet vanilla jasmine! I knew that I would love this one because I love jasmine, but I don't think that it will be everyone's cup of tea. It smells a bit like Lush's Tender Is the Night to me, which is totally fine by me. I also have the impression that Selbstverliebt is like Autumn Dusk's spring sister, with honey and cream in place of copal and myrrh.

    Scrappy Damsel

I was super excited about this oil, as all of the notes are the stuff of magic and dreams for me. I'm so happy that I wasn't disappointed! In the bottle, Scrappy Damsel seemed a lot like Khrysee, all rich neroli with golden amber and a hint of cedar. When wet, it morphed from all neroli all the time to a gentle cedar, then to a really lovely and well-matched pairing of the neroli and cedar with the amber, musk, and sandalwood coming out to support them. When completely dry, it reminds me again of Khrysee, but a soft, musky Khrysee. I never get any of the saffron or honey. This oil is utterly beautiful and I'm so glad to have a bottle!

    Harvest Moon 2013

Oh Gateau, I had the same experience. The rose is soft and rich and glorious; the leaf note smells to me of pure, natural honeysuckle (one of my favorite scents in life). I am in heaven for about an hour and a half until the scent morphs into a sweet barely-there powder. I will be keeping this bottle for the bliss it offers for a few hours (and for the gorgeous label!). Edited for typo. Also I get the same "honeysuckle" sense from Haus of Gloi's "Leaf Pile."

    All Souls

2010 bottle I received this bottle from a lovely forumite! First of all, the label art is absolutely adorable! In the bottle, I smell nothing but a sweet cake-y (cake batter?) scent. It's really nice but not amazing. And then I put it on... Wowza. The cakey-ness lingers for a few seconds and then my skin warms this oil into a gorgeous soft incense. There is also a hint of the beeswax/candle note that I adore in Gypsy Queen and Saint Foutin de Varailles. When dry, it gains a dusty floral quality. It could be the incense reacting with the cake, or it could be a floral incense that MiasmaResonance wrote about. I'm also starting to smell a bit more of the currant note, which is absolutely lovely and complimentary to the scent as a whole. I am really loving this. Edited for typos!

    Hope and Fear Set Free

I thought that this scent was going to knock my socks off! I adore frankincense and vanilla. When wet, this oil really did smell like pencil shavings! I work at an elementary school and while I don't mind the smell of pencils, I smell them allllll of the time and generally smell like them all of the time as well. The dry down was soft and lovely enough to tempt me to keep the imp, but I just don't see myself reaching for this oil over Midnight Mass for my resin needs.
