    Ahathoor

There's something floral-ish and somewhat spicy about this scent. It's a bright scent, and light, but penetrating ... and there's something hidden behind all of that, that I can smell right at the end of a sniff of this scent on my skin. It's more prevalent when it's first put on my skin, but fades back, but it's still there at the end. It's a dry scent, behind the floral/spice. It's very different from other scents I have, but I like it.

    Les Fleurs du Mal

This is a pretty floral. I wasn't sure of it at first - it sort of smelled like floral soap, but after a while of wearing it the soapy scent goes away and it's a deep, soft floral. The sweetness of the flowers come through on my skin.

    Antique Lace

Ooh, so yum! This is a most yummy vanilla scent that is so yummy and sweet and delicious on my skin. It smells wonderful on the vial, and it also smells wonderful on my skin! It doesn't turn all pink musk stick on me, like Snake Oil and O, so it's a heavenly one for me. Not floral, just divine on me. Sweet and creamy and now a favourite! Simply gorgeous!

    Smut

Woah. What can I say other than this smells very strongly of patchouli to my nose. When I put it on, it's still very strong on patchouli, but I can get the hint of something sugared in the background, maybe a touch musky... but there is no resemblance to Snake Oil on my skin. Maybe there's vetiver in there? I think that might also account for some of that smell, but then I haven't smelled vetiver in a long time so I could easily be wrong. It's another scent that I'm iffy about, which is why I haven't sniffed it in ages! Smut fades as time goes on, and the patchouli lessens a lot, but never really goes away. I'm not sure if I like this one or not. I really want to like it, but the patchouli isn't one of my most favourite smells... :/ But this is gorgeous when layered with Morocco, or with a combo of Khajurajo + O. It's nice with Bliss, or with O, or with Snake Oil.
  5. Vixen is down on my list, now! I don't think it's Snake Oil going bad on me, it's just that my skin is making things sweet (which it seems to do), and there's something in Snake Oil and O that, when sweet, overpowers the rest of the scents. I'm thinking maybe vanilla? Is there musk in them both, though it's not mentioned? I don't really know.
  6. I know people go on about how O smells like sex and (insert whatever description here). But all I smell are pink musk sticks when I wear it. (FYI, Snake Oil smells like pink musk stick lollies on me, too. They end up smelling very similar and I'd have to wear both at once to smell a difference.) So ... what else can I try that may smell like sex on me?? I want to know what everyone is talking about!! PS - Pink musk sticks are described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musk_stick

    Bess

This is a lovely sweet and soft scent. One of my favourites, even though I tend to go for the strong foody ones! It's just so nice, and smells so lovely and sweet and gentle and floral on my skin. A gorgeous, delicate scent that lingers.

    All Saints'

Based on a venerable French pontifical incense blend: monastic frankincense and myrrh, Damascus rose, Russian gardenia, cassia, and lily of the valley wafting on a chill Autumn wind. A celebration of the glory and suffering of the saints and matryrs of the Church. I have the 2005 edition, and in a 5ml bottle to boot! My friend who introduced me to BPAL gave it to me, along with Salome. First it was something I wasn't sure about. I liked it more than Salome, but it wasn't really what I was expecting from scented oils. It was a sort of smokey scent, I guess, not like burned anything or like smoke itself, but I don't know how to describe it, really. On me it smells like incense and some people do detect the rose, which gives it some sweetness. (BPAL scents tend to go sweet on my skin, for whatever reason. Luckily I love sweet smells!) I don't smell the myrrh, which is another good thing about this scent. So it's quite nice. I wear it for live role playing, where I have a very Catholic church-ish type character. Like the scent, she's dark and mysterious and religious, so I think it's perfect for that reason!

    Athens

Sadly, myrrh is a scent that I can't stand. All I smell in Athens was myrrh, turning me off this scent. I tried to wear it, but again all that came through was myrrh. It did die down after a while, and became sweeter, but sadly I can't wait that long and so I gave the imp away to my friend who introduced me to BPAL. I can't stand Lilith, either, because of the myrrh. Sad, really. But luckily Bastet's myrrh isn't that strong and I couldn't smell it. Myrrh and I just don't mix.

    Nocturne

I don't know what it is, but Nocturne and I don't like each other. There's something about it that just smells awful to my nose, which makes me sad because the description was enchanting! It doesn't smell any better when I wear it. I couldn't smell anything floral at all. Sorry, I wanted so much to like it, but I couldn't.

    Bastet

There is an almond scent in Bastet, which I only realised after reading a few comments and smelling it from the vial again. It wasn't like Dana O'Shee which was obvious it was almond scented to me, but the almond is there. It's got some other scent mixed in with the almond, which disguises it somewhat to my nose. After it's been on me, though, the almond scent disappears and I'm left with something soft and a little sweet. Not sugary sweet, just soft and slightly sweet. I'm not sure what it is, though. It's nice and gentle on me. I'm really glad I don't smell the myrrh, because like in Athens (and the sniff I had of Lilith) it's so strong and smells awful to me. Bastet isn't like that!! It's a nice scent to my sense of smell.

    O

I was actually expecting something wicked and sexual and something that, as many others have commented, smells of orgasm or sex. My friend said on her it smells like sex and candy. On me, I don't smell anything except the candy, so I'm sad. From the vial, this is a sweet, vanilla honey scent. On my skin it is, at first, warming up a touch so that the honey is the top note, with what I come to recognise as amber behind it. The honey soon picks up and becomes sharper, while still sweet, on me. Instead of sex, this ends up smelling very much like Snake Oil: there are differences (where O is light and sharp, Snake Oil is dark and smooth) but to tell the truth they both end up smelling like pink musk sticks on me! So sweet and sugary and yummy, even if it's not what I was expecting.

    Snake Oil

From the vial, this is a spicy scent, with a vanilla backing. Like someone has made a warm, spicy, sugared vanilla chai. It's quite welcoming, rather than sexy. My skin warms up the spice and sugar at first. After a short time, it begins to mix and take on a darker, but still sweet aspect: On me, this ends up smelling very much like O! There are differences (where Snake Oil is dark and smooth, O is light and sharp) but to tell the truth they both end up reminding me of pink musk sticks! So sweet and sugary and yummy. Not what I was expecting, but nice none the less.

    Bliss

A shot of pure, self-indulgent euphoria! A scent that is very, very wicked in its own way: the serotonin-slathered scent of pure milk chocolate. To me this smells like cocoa when I wear it. Mmm, it's delicious, and a soft scent. Yet it's a scent that stays around for hours, and even on a really hot day (the first time I tested it), I could smell cocoa when I got home at night after being stuck all afternoon in a non-airconditioned place. Yummy, sweet and light!

    Gluttony

Ohhh, yum. This smells like maple syrup and burned coffee on me. It's so good, and so strong, but delicious. It's a powerful scent that goes sweet on me. Mmm... one of my favourites. Someone once asked where that sweet coffee smell was coming from, because there was no-one nearby having coffee. It was me.

    Jack

Yummy pumpkin pie-sort of goodness. It smells a lot of sweetened condensed milk and a little cinnamon, maybe. But it's delicious. When our little group were sniffing Jack, we all loved it! And then one of our friends, Jack, called and we all told him how much we love him and want to wear him! *laugh* It's another one of these powerful sweet, foody types that I love on me.

    Beaver Moon 2005

Yum!! This is my favourite BPAL scent ever! (So far...) It's HEAVENLY! It reminds me of butterscotch and caramel and toffee and all sorts of sweet goodness. Mmm... sooooooooooooooooooooo good! I can't really say enough good things about it. I love it to bits! And everyone laughs when I tell them the name of the scent. Their mind goes to naughty places. Mmm... yum! So very good and sweet on me.

    Kitsune-Tsuki

Gorgeous, that's all I can say to describe this one in one word. Floral and gorgeous. It's light and playful, though not really subtle, but it's not in-your-face, either. A delightful scent. I love how it smells on me. I'm happy that such a scent is named after the nine-tailed ones.

    Dana O'Shee

This is a very light and subtle scent on me. It faded very, very fast and I couldn't smell it by lunch time. Usually I will refresh my BPAL scent after work for the night, but with Dana O'Shee, I couldn't smell it any more and put it on at lunch time and then again before going out at night. It's pretty, and milky and almondy all the way through, and is a very gentle scent on me.

    Bayou

Bayou has a sort of citrusy smell to it, and to me it was a very soft scent (but I do have a cold). It's got a sort of spike scent through it that I can't quite describe, but there is floral behind it. It faded on me, but still has that spiky scent that I can't quite figure out. It hasn't gone sweet on me like most of the other BPAL I try. It's not a bad scent, it's just different... I like it, but I'm not sure what occasion I'd wear it for, though.

Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations

Might have to look into getting some Gingerbread Poppet from a friend who has some. I'm just not sure how much she has!! Maybe only an imp, so I might be out of luck. I'll probably also have to look into Eat Me and Drink Me, Vice, Velvet, Hollywood Babylon, Sugar Cookie, Bengal, Jailbait, Hunger, Dana O'Shee, Hellcat, Obatala, Sudha Segara, Dragon's Milk and a lot more too, I think. (I got Grog recently, too, and it smells amazing though I haven't tested it on me just yet! I think Dorian is in my current order from BPAL, and I'm also going to test my friend's Monster Bait: Closet and Underbed when she gets them with my order, too! Mmm....)

Gourmand - Foody Scents - General Recommendations

Well, my favourite of all BPAL that I've worn so far has to be Beaver Moon. Jack, Gluttony, Bliss, O and Snake Oil (because the last two smell like pink musk stick lollies) are also great. What else should I be looking out for, guys and gals? (I've got an order in for a Midway imp... and I'm thinking of getting Trick or Treat.) Also I'm interested in sexy scents and scents to get positive emotions (from me and others) happening. Reducing/illiminating the negative and helping make things good in general.
