    Wolf's Heart

Wet, this is so tart, but I can't tell what kind of tart. Lime, maybe? When this goes on, it smooths out a bit, turns more floral-y. During drydown, I didn't think I'd love this, but after 10 minutes or so, it's really growing on me. It gets warm and a bit spicy, but still, overall, it's floral. Fresh floral-herb-fruit → floral-resin I like this one! White florals are hard for me. I love them in theory, but the blends rarely work for me. I keep sniffing this one, which is a good sign! Thanks to the BPAL team for frimping this one to me! Where I'd wear this: When I want to be both deeply confident and extremely womanly

    Ave Maria Gratia Plena

This has that Easter flowers scent I love (in theory), but these flowers have been sitting in the window for a few days. They feel dry. I do detect the rosewood underneath, and I got a fair bit of the lemon while wet and during dry down, but I'm not detecting any sage. When wet, this is a lot soapier than the final drydown, which is great. It's not bad, but it's no Peitho for me. Actually, upon reapplying, I can smell the sage when wet, but it totally fades on me by the time it's dry. I definitely get a church vibe from this, and I can see it as a nice atmosphere blend for the diffuser during the spring. 4/10

    Love Me

First impression is of Easter flowers. It's floral-y but, not in the dusty, dry floral way that makes me sneeze. This brings back memories of early spring, flowers beginning to bloom. It smells fresh, vibrant, ALIVE. There's a spicy undertone to it that keeps it from being too innocent and twee. I'm not going red from this, so either the cinnamon is very light, or it's a different spice. I think it's a different spice -- I can usually pick up cinnamon since I eat so much of it haha. I agree that it feels more like a resin spiciness than an herb spiciness. It might serve as a decent substitute for Peitho if I can't ever get a bottle of that in my hands again. *crying* Verdict: LOVE. Will probably get a 5ml. Thanks BPAL team for adding this to my frimps!

    Has No Hanna

In the imp, it has a nice fruity smell - apricot - which I'd love to stick around. But on, I keep getting a very dry floral and ONLY that. I thought rose, but the consensus seems to be jasmine so my nose could be off? Not a huge fan as a perfume, but I think it might make a nice spring cleaning oil for the diffuser! 3/10 ETA 9/16: DEFINITELY rose. I love jasmine and I don't get even a hint of it here. Where I'd wear this: To a teahouse, 1850
  5. I think I may cry because, wet, this is a cream dream of soft leather and sandalwood, and my heart was bursting with love. But then it dried down and there is a sour tang, almost like rotted cheese. But maybe I'm imagining it. I hope I'm imagining it. I will try again tomorrow and see if I get the same thing. Prayer circle for me. ETA ... I got the same thing. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to let this one go.

    Spiced Autumn Cider

Wet: Yankee Candle. It has almost a waxy-plastic undertone as it's drying down, which, oddly, I think may be the tangerine and the apple mixed together. The cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and maple take longer to show up on me. After about 15 minutes, the spices show up, and it's a very lovely fall scent. Could be a favorite! Update: It's burnnnnning

    Yipe!

Everyone who mentioned an initial whiff of cherry cough syrup was spot on! I don't even know how that = cherry because no cherries I've smelled before every smelled like cough syrup, haha. BUT... Yipe! doesn't stay at cough syrup level for long. At dry-down, it's quite lovely and feminine. Sweet, creamy. I don't smell the blackberries yet. Kind of reminds me of cherry chapstick. I think this would layer well with Midnight Mass and other deeply incense-y blends to make both more complex and intriguing. I think I'll keep it just for that!

Four Grave Robbers Awaken a Ghost

I think it's the galangal that hits first when you open the bottle. I guess? I don't know that I've ever smelled galangal before. It's green, kind of reminds me of pencil-shavings-but-not-quite in the weirdest way — this is the dragon's blood, I'm pretty sure. It's dry and a bit dusty, toasty, incense-y. Super woody. Will smell A+ on my husband. Going in his stocking.

    St. Clare

Omg, when I opened this bottle, I was immediately taken back to my first love, Arkham. I have no idea what note it is doing that, but it has that forest-y, fresh tang that a lot of green scents have. But that doesn't stay. It immediate starts warming up into a softer, more seductive scent. The tobacco is definitely lovely, but I'm hoping more of the other notes come out as it ages. ETA: 7/14/17: It's a lovely warm tobacco now. Much less tangy. Love it, but in a completely different way. Where I'd wear this: Backpacking through Ireland and letting the greenness overtake you

Gingerbread, Vanilla Sugar, and Pink Pepper

When you open this one up, it's just like a Yankee candle — strong vanilla sugar and a bit spicy, but not quite what I'd think of when I think of pepper or gingerbread. It mellows a bit as it dries down, and it gets that dry, toasty gingerbread scent. Not overpowering at all, but also, not particularly unique, either. Overall - warm, cozy, foodie. Great to wear if you wanna get eaten up. 4/5 stars - wouldn't mind smelling it frequently, but doesn't catch my attention enough to call it a favorite. ETA where I'd wear it: Baking soul cakes with your coven

    Rapture

This smells like Easter to me, and reminds me a lot of Viola. This and Viola are one of the few really floral scents that I can stand long enough to wear. I wish I could pick out what flowers really stand out to me. I assumed it was the lily with Viola, but since this doesn't have lily, I'm guessing it's a very strong jasmine.

    Faunalia

Faunalia 2013. On drydown, this Faunalia reminds me a lottttt of Bon Vivant, minus the cloying sweetness. I'm not sure why since it doesn't say it has a champagne note. I don't smell any coffee or hot chocolate. There's a light spiciness, but it's not necessarily cinnamon to me. It smells like New Year's Eve. 4/5

    The Mahogany Tree

This reminds me of mulled wine. It's not quite mulled wine, but it has that mix of currant and wine with a lot of woodsy. Not too alcoholy to wear to work. It's light enough that it doesn't overwhelm. I think it'll be better as a late fall scent than winter for me. 4/5

To Juan at the Winter Solstice

I like this one pretty well, even though rose scents are hit or miss for me. I think it's the cypress--it reduces the powdery smell enough that this smells like 'winter' and not like 'baby'. It's sweet, woodsy, rosy to me. 3.5/5

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Hi all, I've been thinking about ordering some BPAL scents for ages now, but I've always been too overwhelmed by the options to choose anything. I was hoping someone might have some recommendations for scents I'd like, given commercial perfumes that I like. So if anyone knows anything comparable to these, I'd be grateful: Lolita Limpicka - Coral Flower [A floral-fruity fragrance for romantic women Invigorating - refreshing & sensual Top notes of Bergamot - Grapefruit Heart notes of Frangipani Blossom - Vanilla Orchid Base notes of Amber. Notes: bergamot - grapefruit - vanilla orchid - frangipani - musk - driftwood] I saw some other Lolita comparisons, but not for this particular one, which is much less anise-y than her others. Lancome - Tresor [Classified As A Sharp, Oriental, Floral Fragrance. This Feminine Scent Possesses A Blend Of Lilac And Apricot, With Lower Notes With Amber And Musk. It Is Recommended For Daytime Wear.] Anna Sui - Sui Dreams (discontinued) [The scent to wear to accomplish your dreams.. Top Notes: Nectarine, Mandarin, Bergamot, Orange. Heart Notes: Freesia, Peach, Chinese Peony, Rose. Base Notes: Nutmeg, Sandalwood, Musk, Tahitian Vanilla, Anise.] Tocca - Stella [Top notes: Bitter Orange, Blood Orange, Watery Accord Middle notes: White Freesia, Wild Diamond Orchids, Spicy Lily Bottom notes: Sheer Musk, Sandalwood] Burberry - Brit [burberry Brit Is A Sexy, Eccentric Scent. With Touches Of Lime, Icy Pear, And Green Almond. It Also Has Hints Of White Peony, Sugared Almond, Mahogany Wood, Amber, Vanilla Beans, And Tonka Beans.] I saw in this forum that Lyonesse might be a good match for this one.
