If you identify with Jo March from Little Women, and you spend your free time eating apples in a dusty attic while voraciously reading old leatherbound books, this scent is for you.

I'd love one too, I've been decluttering and have plenty of nice things I could send.
I don't think my health will allow me to run it, though, pity.
When is the Spring Cleaning swap usually? I'm really looking forward to that one!
I...could do it with some help? Might have to be a bit later than usual.
I am extremely interested in this too!

Agape on me is a very sweet vanilla apple.

Unfortunately, all I can smell is Frankincense. Even after the dry-down, even as it fades from my skin. And the frankincense is overpowering. I have hope for this though because it seems like other people are experiencing the other notes. I'm going to let this sit for a few weeks, and hopefully update this!

My mom is obsessed with Antique Lace and is absolutely heartbroken that it has been discontinued.
However I tried Celeste (Courtesans) last night and it seems pretty similar. I'm personally not a fan of Antique Lace, but I thought I'd pass it along.
Anyone find anything else similar to Antique Lace?

Oh I didn't think of that one. My mom has a bottle, so I will try it this Thanksgiving. Thanks!

I'm getting married in 3 months and I still haven't decided what to wear! I know I want to wear BPAL now. I had a brief stint where I was going to wear Vera Wang, but after testing it a few times, it ended up smelling too much like my MIL to be's Estee Lauder Beautiful. uhhhh.
so far here is what I've got for maybes:
Snow White 2005
Katharina
I'm thinking floral vanillas similar to Snow White, or peach, or white musk-ey scents. I do not want anything overly foody. I like Peach Moon but it isn't quite what I'm going for. Snow White might not be it, I feel like I have worn it too often. If I can't choose though, I will go with Snow White.
I want to try:
Unveiled
The Girl (been wanting to try this for a while actually, it is quite hard to find)

I can't come to a decision on whether I like the released version of Blue Pumpkin Floss. I tried the prototype and it was amazing, so I was excited to buy a bottle of the released version. The prototype is much more like cotton candy, more blackberry, with a slight hint of pure pumpkin (not buttery) and pumpkin type spices. The released version is very complex, much more spicy and very buttery, with only a hint of the cotton candy sugary-ness and I can't detect any hint of blackberry.
When I tested the released Blue Pumpkin Floss I got such a strange smell from it at times (since the scent changes alot) and after about an hour of trying to think of what it reminded me of, I realized that it smells like chicken broth bullion cubes. No lie. I don't know how that happened?? Only at times though, because at other times, the pumpkin spices and the buttery pumpkin came through, and very slightly, the cotton candy.
Unfortunately, I think I will have to stick with the prototype version of Blue Pumpkin Floss (if I can find it!). Maybe it is just my skin chemistry, but I really don't want to smell like a chicken broth bullion cube
I will test it one more time before I decide to swap my bottle or anything.

Boo
in Halloweenie
Boo 2010 is AWESOME. I can't compare it to last years because I have not tested that one.
While wet, the milky note is more apparent, but the sugar sweetness is just perfect. Normally I don't much like "milk" notes because it makes me smell like I poured milk all over myself or something, but this is evenly balanced with the sugar sweetness. It reminds me very much of those Japanese milk chew candies called White Rabbits, I am even reminded of the rice paper film covering!
I can't really detect any 'cotton' notes, but it might just be too subtle for my anti-analytical nose!
When dry it reminds me more of Snow White, but more confectionary and less floral. This is my favorite so far of the 2010 Halloweenies (though I haven't tried much yet!)

So, I was generously gifted a testable sniffie of this by a forumite and when I smelled it in the vial, I said to myself: "Phew! it's really strong patchouli, I don't have to worry about falling in love."
But then I put it on.
Firstly, I don't hate patchouli, I like it actually, just not when it is very strong and usually not as a single note. This was semi-strong patchouli on my skin, but it did something really remarkable as it dried, and I kept sniffing my wrist because it was so cool. As I sniffed, I would instantly smell patchouli, but then as I took my nose away and inhaled normally (breathing), I kept smelling this orange creamsicle sort of scent! As if the patchouli notes left my nose and left behind that orange vanilla in my nose! It was so cool.
Then after a while (maybe 1/2 an hour), on my skin, the patchouli started to meld with the orange creamsicle scent. Then after another 1/2 an hour, it was JUST the orange creamsicle scent. And it smelled so familiar to me, outside of the orange creamsicle reference, and finally I realized that it smelled exactly like Cocoa Pink's the Un-red fragrance, just richer and with patchouli.
So this is the first time I have tested a sought after rare and fell in love. And I just don't fall in love with anything. This is an automatic top ten LE.
I guess there is a first time for everything? I need a bottle now, but I'm not sure how exactly I will manage to get one!

I'm not sure if this helps, but I use Yvaine or TKO for a bedtime scent because of their lavender notes. TKO has vanilla, but it is very lavender as well.
-
This is the perfect patchouli on me, even though patchouli isn't listed as a note. It reminds me of a cologne my uncle always wears: clean, elegant, masculine, musky. I put the TINIEST drop on my wrist to test it, knowing it would be strong.
I love this one and will definitely wear it!

I am going to be wearing Snow White at a wedding tonight <3
-
All those sound awesome. I'll have to look around for decants.
I think I will wear Raven Moon to DnD next week. As I am a Drow who mainly reveres the Raven Queen instead of Lolth (SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)
-
Any DnD people have ideas for a Drow Assassin?
definitely something with opoponax. I was sniffing the Velvets from Neverwhere and it seemed appropriate (though I didn't much care for it)
Edited because I'm a dummy
-
*sigh* that's awesome! I wish my boyfriend was into BPAL. He really seems to dislike the concept of NOT wearing one scent constantly.
-
I think Bewitched would be perfect on me for my wedding.
-
Anyone remember Bergamot and Mandarin? It looked like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Yankee-Candle-Tart-Ber...=item45f38df315
That was my all time favorite scent and I have been wishing for 5 years that I could find a BPAL similar to it!
-
Privilege. SOO underrated since it's from the Paris Hilton series It's extremely Haute and rich-person smelling but its also sweet, fresh and addictive.
-
I know this is old, but I wanted to add that there’s something about the poppy and carnation in Maenad that makes it nag champa-esque, and smokey, with a hint of not too sweet or overly present strawberry – at least on me. It’s one of my favorite scents, and outside BPAL, I’m really not much of a strawberry fan.
YES! Maenad seems to be VERY overlooked. It is one of the first BPAL scents I've tried and it is still a favorite.
It is a dark incensey delicious strawberry.
-
I love YSL Babydoll, and though it is not exactly the same, BPAL's Privilege (The Paris Hilton LE ) is very similar. Very sweet (but not sickening) and young smelling. I like wearing it when I'm in the mood for Babydoll but don't want to smell like alcohol.

BLUSH AND MAENAD!
(I wonder how Blush would smell with Strawberry Moon?)

Wait, are you placing the order through PayPal or CCNow? If you're trying to use PayPal through CCNow, that double dings the Lab with charges...that might be why you're getting the errors and why orders get canceled. Are you going to paypal.com, logging in, and sending the payment to paypal@blackphoenixalchemylab.com?ETA: Okay, I just read more carefully and saw that you were paying directly...I'm stumped! I hope this gets straightened out soon.
yeah me too. I t will be figured out soon though.
The charges haven't been reversed in my paypal though. We'll see what happens.
-
It sounds to me like you need to be patient and give the Lab a chance to respond to your email. It can take them a few days, especially over weekends- if you first emailed them two days ago, that would have been Friday, so it's not at all surprising that they haven't had a chance to answer you yet.I've never had a PayPal order cancelled without good reason (like accidentally paying in the wrong currency). I'm sure there's a good reason yours has been cancelled, too...but only the Lab can answer a question like this, and they generally don't respond on the forums to questions about specific orders.
Oh I know they don't respond on the forums, I was just trying to see if anyone else was having the same problem as me.
I understand the Lab doesn't reply immediately, and I'm not expecting them to. I hope I didn't come across as being upset with the Lab for not responding to me right away. I'm just a bit on edge because I wanted to get my mom's 5ml's in time and I'm really confused because I have never had a problem with ordering before and the whole paypal thing just doesn't make sense to me. I guess there's a first for everyone right?
Looking for White Musk~
