    The Phoenix

It smells like the bite of lime and lick of salt after a shot of tequila when I first applied it, but as it dries down it sweetens a bit with what I'm assuming is the Snake Oil, with a dark bite of gunpowder and a bit of the woody smell. Wow. Only BPAL can make aquatics I love. I think my nose wishes there was just a bit more snake oil, so I busted out a toothpick and dibbled a little Snake Oil on top of this on my wrist for fun and YUM.

    Green Tree Viper

Snake Oil goes so well with so many things, but I have found it's soulmate in Green Tree Viper - MINT! Cool, tingly, creamy - this snake has bite. I'm not getting much tea, but truthfully I rarely do. I'm not sure I'll even be able to part with this decant and I know I'll need a bottle!

    Lambs-Wool

Apple cider! I suppose it all depends on whether or not you want to smell like apple cider or not. It's deliciously spicy and appley and cidery.

    El Dia de los Reyes

2007 bottle. Mexican hot cocoa with that sharp cinnamon and maybe a sprinkle of chili powder? So sweet and wonderful! It's been on a few hours and it's a very light cocoa without as much spice, but it was so delicious for the first few hours.

    MVJBA: Pancake Breakfast

I agree with Aldercy, this really is one of the Holy Grails of Foody Scents. They're the perfect fluffy buttermilk pancakes, buttered and syruped liberally. Every note described is captured perfectly and stays on the skin for HOURS. I am going to be very careful to conserve this bottle as long as I can.

    A Fit of Artistic Enthusiasm

Oh my god, this is SO good! Salty, wet, woody, minty! It's cold, almost creamy and it's so...sexy. It really is a salt-crusted coffin bobbing through tumultuous ocean waves. Well done.

    The Pool of Tears

It's so salty! It captures the smell of tears so well, and the gorgeous floral note really is drowning in it! It's gorgeous and a lovelier aquatic than I was expecting! I think I'm in love.

    Queen Alice

I can't quite call this a spiced cider smell since I was blessed with a bottle of Lamb's Wool, but Queen Alice dries down to a fantastic wine and spices on my skin, with a dash of nose nipping carnation. It's actually really great and I'm so glad I grabbed an imp of this! Not really confident that this is going to be a bottle purchase, but I will keep the imp around for sure.

    Polynesian Pop

I will always be impressed with how certain parts of notes are captured in these oils: the ginger ale fizzes not only in the imp, but well past drydown! I could smell it and its bubbles well over 6 hours after putting it on, and I personally feel that this is the staple of the whole Atomic Luau Lounge collection. I'm going to order this one in a 5ml because the prospect of smelling like a fizzy orange drink is too exciting for me to pass up.

Down the Rabbit Hole Atmosphere Spray

I picked this up on my Dark Delicacies run and it was fantastic idea! Every note is present when you spray it, and I absolutely adore spritzing this on my pillows and curling up for a nap. Dirt and marmalade and daisies, it's so perfect together. I will never understand how BPAL hits the nail on the head so often. I really would love for this to be translated into a perfume oil, but for now I am content to spray it everywhere. I'm even taking this on vacation to scent up the room I'll be staying in. Just wanted to edit to add that I took this on a cruise ship, and it was a godsend! We had a leaky pipe burst in the hallway, and the mildew smell was nauseating. My roommate and I sprayed this liberally throughout the room, before bed, in the morning...there is barely even a dent in the bottle and our room was the best smelling on the ship. I just ordered little goblin squirts of a lot of the other smells to give as gifts, but I think Down the Rabbit Hole will always have great memories for me since I took it on the best vacation of my life as well.

    Snake Oil

This has a real kick to it! It's so golden and rich; the absolute perfect vanilla. I actually smelled Womb Furie before I smelled Snake Oil, and this is all of my favorite parts of Womb Furie. I think I like Tombstone better if I had to choose one of the BPAL vanillas, but this is a must sniff. Can't wait to see what happens to this when it ages!

    Tombstone

I have had nothing but terrible luck all my life with vanilla smells because they always morph into diaper cream, but this is the 3rd or 4th consecutive scent from BPAL with vanilla that I am absolutely in love with. I could never imagine the notes working together as well as they do, or a cedar cooperating with me. It's the smell of saloons, high noon, and a mug of sarsparilla.

    Poisoned Apple

This is probably one of my absolute favorites in the GC. In the bottle, it's the smell of a red apple you just bit into, and you had to wipe your chin because it was so juicy. Once I applied it, it started off with this same apple smell before it started swirling into this menacing, evil smell. The apple was always there, but the lurking evil of the notes in the background is fantastic.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

Why waste time chanting her name in the mirror 13 times? Bedevil your next slumber party the easy way! Chunky, glistening red fruits with sweet cream accord, black clotted cherry, and powdered sugar! Got a bottle of this from Dark Delicacies for my birthday and I am absolutely in love with it. It's not quite the candy cherry you get from a jelly donut, since this cherry is dark and tart, but it's close enough to be delicious! I am really glad I picked this up. It lasted all day, and I kept sneaking sniffs of its cherry goodness.

    The Antikythera Mechanism

I had no idea what to expect with any of these notes on me. This was an extremely pleasant surprise and I'm glad I got my hands on an imp. It's so sweet and fragrant, and it's comforting that I keep finding vanillas that don't turn into diaper cream on me. This is going on the bottle list!

    Dorian

Dorian is a staple of my collection! This is one of the scents described as unisex that I can absolutely agree on. I would be in heaven if someday I could convince a man to let me smelly him up with this. He'd have to endure me sneaking sniffs frequently. I have a hard time going long enough without it on to move on to imps I've been wanting to try for a while this stuff is so good. Vanilla usually hates me terribly, but the tea and the musk keep the vanilla from being from turning into diaper cream on me, and oooh the sweet sweet lemon.

    Ghoul Hooligan

These ghouls are deliciously mischievous, swilling mugs of spicy chocolate ale and smashing pumpkins on each other's foreheads. There is ghastly celebrating and haunting defeat in every sniff. Really, this scent is super fun and I love it to death. I really hope there is an occasion where I can wear this out, but even if it never comes up, I will be keeping this around for a long time just so I can remember how much fun I had with the real World Cup. A room scenter for sure!

    Tweedledum

Patchouli is always very hit or miss with me, but I didn't want to get Tweedledee without getting Tweedledum, too! In the bottle it's ALL fig to my nose, and I can't find any other notes. Right when I put it on, it was a nice fruity green and the patchouli actually jumped out to soothe the almost cloying sweetness of the fig note on me. Unexpectedly a very sophisticated smell, and it is actually a nice contrast to the candy fruit smell that is Tweedledee. Keeping this around for a while, I think!
  19. Sultaana

    Tweedledee

Ridiculous sums this up perfectly! Opening the imp, I was greeted with the popularly mentioned fruit cereal smell, but there was a gentle spice hiding in the background. I couldn't wait to get it on to see if this morphed. Wet, the spice still hangs out in the background and the kumquat really dances around, but as it dries the pepper really comes out to play. It is more pepper than fruit once it fully dries, but I am absolutely THRILLED with how this smells. I hope to own a bottle of this someday; I can imagine wearing it year round.

    Smokestack

Vetiver and I are not friends, but after buying Smokestack I can say that we're not enemies. It's so harsh in the bottle and even louder wet, but as it dries I can actually smell something other than vetiver for once. I would absolutely adore this scent on a man - that thick smell of a hard day's work shoveling coal and stoking the fires. ETA: This has officially started to give headaches. Curse you, vetiver!

    Quirkiest, most bizarre oils

My weirdest of the weird so far: The Chicken-Legged Hut - Have you ever been inside a chicken coop? Chickens have this weird sweet bird smell. Yeah, this scent TOTALLY captures it. BIZARRE. The Witch's Repast - It's foody, but really you'll smell like you're in a hall full of vikings dunking your bread into wine and tearing turkey off the bone with your teeth.

    Jack

This was a frimp from the lab, and by the description alone I'm not sure I would have bought this for myself. Popping off the lid, I nearly gagged on what immediately smelled like alcoholic butterscotch. I actually put the imp away, and moved on to test and sniff other things and I wasn't sure I was going to try this one again. I am really glad I didn't judge this one just by the smell alone - on the skin, it's incredible what this dries down to. Wet, it was pumpkin, spices, and peaches. Once it finally dried, it was absolutely most delicious thing I have ever smelled. The peach and cloves are the perfect companions for this nutmeggy pumpkin. I want to hug whoever tossed this in as my freebie.

    Cheshire Cat

I was weary of the lavender after buying some lavender-heavy imps, but it turns out lavender and citrus are a match made in heaven! Soft and juicy and sweet! I can close my eyes and see that familiar Cheshire Cat smile disappearing in a ghostly swirl above my head and leaving a delicate lavender grapefruit musk of a smell in the air.

    March Hare

In the imp, it almost smells like fake cherry, like the kind in Cherry Coke or the one they pop into your drink skewered onto the umbrella toothpick. I think that's the clove mixing with the apricot playing tricks on me. On the skin, if I sniff hard enough, I can pick out the individual notes of cloves and apricots, but it just wafting up to my nose while doing chores or working on the computer doesn't give much but that fake cherry smell. After about 15 minutes, it's all clove and no fruit. It is not a bad smell overall, but I am mourning the lack of apricots on my skin! ETA: Okay it's been about an hour and finally apricots! Glorious, delicious, rabbity apricots with a sprinkle of spice.

    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat

I have smelled far too many melon scents in my lifetime, and usually they are pure watermelon bubblegum and not much else. The melon incredibly captures a farmer's market fresh honeydew, sliced up for a picnic, spritzed with a dash of lime juice, served with a garnish of mint and a glass of cold green tea. So summery and inviting, without being overpowering and candy scented when worn. Batty, but in the best way. This one is a keeper, and I may have to splurge on the whole bottle.
