    Lilith Victoria

Vanilla and lavender and chai sweetness. This reminds me in some way of TKO, although it's heavier and spicier and not as 'sweet and innocent'. Nonetheless I really want to slather it all over me. I've never smelled Dorian (le gaspu!), so I don't really have a basis of comparison there, but the Snake Oil only seems to be coming through as a hint of spiciness mixed with vanilla tea. There's a cool, herbal note, but it's very faint. Overall, warm and delicate and pretty. This is definitely a go-to scent, and an unexpected one at that given that there is little love in my heart for florals.

Mother Shub's Spiced Lait de Chèvre

I get sweet, spiced, milky nog, with a hint of something boozy that might be the coffee liqueur in the middle of drydown. It fades away, though, and leaves a creamy-sweet scent. I wish this had more throw, because it smells delicious on my wrists but I can't smell it in the air at all. Perhaps it just needs more settling time.

Crappy cellphone pic, but it gives you an idea: Pic.

    The Antikythera Mechanism

I'm not sure whether anyone remembers it or not, but back in 1996 or so, Givinchy released a scent called Organza Indecance. It was pretty much the only mainstream women's perfume on the market that contained neither florals nor citrus--it was all woods, amber, and vanilla. My mother bought it for me for Christmas around then, and it was my absolute most favorite scent. A few years later, it disappeared, and achieved bizarre ebay cult status. I've been looking for it again (in a reasonably priced form) ever since. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. Antikythera Mechanism dries down on me to ping my scent-memory pretty much exactly for Indecance. It's a warm, woody, sexy-dark vanilla, not cloying or foodie at all. I'd consider this more of a 'winter' sort of scent--it's that sort of warm. I'm in nostalgic olfactory heaven--this is going to become a definite go-to scent as long as the weather is cool.

It smells divine too! Honey blends and I have a fantastic and torrid relationship. It's going on the next order, and damn the weeping of my credit card.

Man, now I HAVE to get my hands on Crib Girls. That bottle is divine.

    Giant Vulva

Giant Vulva is AMAZING on my skin. It's sweet without being cloying, body-musky without smelling of actual girlparts, and just generally very soft and feminine and wonderful without being overpoweringly floral. It's kind of like an O you can wear to work and no one will think you've been misbehaving in the storage closet. It's what I wish skin smelled like all the time. I have no doubt I will be wearing this a LOT.

    Hay Moon

In the bottle, there's an odd astringency to Hay Moon, but once it hits my skin it transforms into a lovely, warm, dry-grass scent that I absolutely adore, sweetened by the honey and amber. I'm tempted to scrub the testing scent off my other arm and slather myself in sweet warm hay. Definitely hearkening back to late late summer when it's just dipping into fall. What a lovely scent. I'm surprised this hasn't gotten more love.

    Joulumuori

In bottle: sweeeetness. Plum plum plum! And something somehow Chrismassy, but I don't know what it is. The outside of the bottle smells LOVELY. On: Pluuuuuum! And some honey, and then that sharpness still in the background. It might be wood, it might be spice. Whatever it is, it pulls the scent back from being cloying. The spices come through more and more as it dries, as does something lemony. Then it starts to get creamier--rice pudding, I think. Then there's a lovely hint of smoke, which is what's going to make this special, I think. The longer I wear it the more I like it.I'm hoping some more smoky/woody notes come out, but as food scents go, I like this one.

    I want a "soapy" scent

I haven't tried Wensleydale, but Dirty smells like clean laundry to me, as opposed to skin soap.

    Sed Non Satiata

This smells delicious right in the bottle--very honey-and-musk, the sort of thing I know I'll love before it even hits my skin. For a minute I was afraid that it might beat out O or Snake Oil, but it turns out I didn't have to worry. The honey fades into drydown, and there's also a hint of something slightly but not overwhelmingly floral there as well. No idea if it's tuberose or geranium, though. Possibly the latter, since it doesn't smell very rose-like to me. It's good that it doesn't overpower the notes that I love, because I just don't really dig heavy floral. Very musky and warm and sexy, just as promised. Gorgeous, and right up my scent-alley. Faded pretty fast and reduced me to severe wrist-huffing, although I barely applied any at all, so I'll have to do a better test. A keeper though, for sure.

    Men Ringing Bell with Penises

This is LOVELY. Tea and moss and maaaybe a whiff of sandalwood. In the drydown there's a hint of something minty, but it's not actually mint. On the whole it's very light, cool and sort of surprisingly dignified for something with this name. Pretty much no throw to speak of, but a nice clean scent. I don't really get 'man' out of this at all. Maybe a place where men were, and left their tea and sake behind, but the scent itself strikes me as very unisex. Definitely something i will probably be wearing all spring/summer, when my usual heavier ambers and vanillas are too much. So glad I grabbed it sight-unsmelled off a lovely forumite.

    O

The scent of sexual obsession, slavery to sensual pleasure, and the undercurrent of innocence defiled utterly. Amber and honey with a touch of vanilla. In imp: Hello honey. Also honey. With a side of honey. Whooooo honey. Maybe some amber? But mostly HONEY. Wet, on wrist: Mmm honey. And amber. And oh yes there's the vanilla, but it's just around the edges of the honey-amber goodness. Dry, on wrist: Yeah, i'm one of the lucky ones for whom O dries down to the wonderous post-sex smell. It's heady and musky and warm and absolutely delicious without being foody at all. It's the scent of the most idealized, lovely, post-coital skin ever. Not something to be worn on a casual date or just out with friends. As much as i love Snake Oil's overt slinkiness, O is kinda more sexy in that it's not trying so hard. It's not sexy so much as it is pure and simple sex.

    Hunter Moon 2007

In bottle: Grape cough syrup. Urgh. Something really really prickly climbs up into the top of my nose and itches there. Wet, on wrist: Still grapey, but with something thin and woody/herby. There's something chilly about this. The prickly is still there, but less. Drydown: The grape recedes and then there's something pleasantly musky that starts to come through. Not a sexy musk, more like a furry one. Like the idea of smelling animal pelt. Still has a weird chill, though. Like all the smells are happening on a cold, damp autumn day instead of on my skin. Dry, on wrist: Warmed up a bit, into a snuggly musky animal smell. People have called it warm and comforting, but i still don't get warm like i do with other musks. Very autumnal. Summary: Not something I want to wear very often, but evocative. Not ready to give it up, in any case. Wish there had been more autumn leaves in there, because i love the smell of leaves.

    Crowley

My bottle of Crowley has aged nearly two years now--I bought it when the scent was just released, and it's seen very little use since then due to me working at a job where fragrances were discouraged. So it's had a lot of time to age, and let me tell you, it aged beautifully. I remember loving this scent back in 2007, and if anything I adore it more now. In bottle: Very sharp, lilac and lemon and something that isn't quite wood or leather. It smells like a wealthy man polishing some sort of expensive furniture with lemon Pledge, unflattering as that may be. When I smell the cap instead of the bottle, I get very sharp, fresh saddle leather and wood. Wet, on wrist: Where did the cologne go? It immediately disappeared, replaced by rich leather and wood. The lemon's still there, but taking a definite backseat to the wood and leather and--hey, suddenly, vanilla! Dry, on wrist: Deliciously sexy-comforting musky leather wood goodness sweetened by a hint of unfoody vanilla. God I love this scent so much. Some people have said it's really masculine, but for me it's more of a smell that I'd want to get putting my nose to anyone's neck. Sexy and classy and somehow really comforting at the same time. The lilac and lemon are totally gone unless I press my nose to my wrist. Summary: on me, Crowley morphs from a suave and sexy bachelor to a rich and comforting partner. Much warmer and fuzzier than he seems at first glance, that Crowley. One of my absolute favorite scents.
