    Fire for Thy Stepmother's Daughters

Smells like warmth with a sweet, fruity undertone. Very light and close to the skin considering the name. Very unique and I’m glad to have tried but not for me. Off to frimp pile.

    Death on a Pale Horse

Wet this is a beautiful lavender and lime. Dry the patch and vetiver emerge but the lavender keeps them in check. It’s quite nice but I think I’ll only need the imp as a little goes a long way.

    Uruk

Cinnamon is a winner for me but here it’s drowned out by the jasmine and lillies. The almond helped but disappeared fast. Off to frimp pile.

    Maidens in Repose

Black amber, Ceylon cinnamon, Somalian myrrh, and pale incense laced with star anise. Very much star anise over a lovely myrrh and a hint of cinnamon. It's quite close to skin, which is odd for me (I amp most of these notes). I think this one is going to need some time to smooth out - I'm going to hold onto it and see if the anise will quiet a little over time.

    Adam

Adam, our suicidally romantic scoundrel. His scent is a palette of somber colors, melancholy memories, and lupine, savage beauty: black leather, pale sandalwood, ambergris accord, and the memory of a long-lost Victorian fougère.His internal life seems to be reflected in his lair, so his perfume also possesses the scent of the wood of his guitars, the rosin from his violin bow, the musty wool of neglected Oriental carpets, the plastic, metal, and magnetic tape of his reel-to-reel, the dust that permeates everything. like this way more than I thought I would. There are very few leather blends that actually work on me - usually it’s single note leather or headache inducing. Thankfully Adam is the softest, sweetest leather I’ve ever tried. The plastic is a bit much at first, but as this dries, the resin peeks through as does a hint of the fougere. I do like it, but it’s not something I’d wear often. I’m going to age it for a while to see what happens before I decide to pass it on.

    Sign of Sekkusu Hair Gloss

Beautiful chewy, caramel tobacco with a lovely bourbon vanilla. There is a jolt of cardamom that fades away and I can sorta make out the amber but the tobacco is the dominant force in this hair gloss. It’s really nice and long lasting. And this one will age nicely. ❤️

    Vibrating Motel Bed Hair Gloss

Oh man I adore this. It’s absolutely divine. I love the Lab’s champagne note which is so sweet and bubbly and one of my fave notes. The orange blossom Is gorgeous. The vanilla blends beautifully. This will be in heavy rotation in my hair gloss lineup and it will pair amazingly with Shade. Soft, bubbly orange vanilla. ❤️❤️❤️

    2003: Cotton Phoenix

This is the only Snow White I've ever been able to wear as the original is pure plastic nothingness on my skin (and to my nose). I still have that on initial application, but If I wait it out for an hour or so it just BLOOMS into this lovely vanilla backed by a bit of SO. I'm hanging onto this one to see if some aging can really make her shine.

    Impressions of the Floating World

This has aged very nicely but now the patch has become more prominent - feels closer to Banshee Beat than when I first tried this a year ago. The benzoin is lovely and the silk adds a nice layer. It’s really lovely and I’m glad I held onto my bottle.
  10. sarandipitee

Murder for Murder, Blood for Blood

This should be amazing but the oudh is going straight to smelly poo territory on my skin. It gets a little better as it mellows but it’s still stinky on me. Off to frimps.
  11. sarandipitee

    Xiuhtecuhtli

Sweet incense with lush fruity florals. Very heady and musty and humid. Off to the frimp pile.
  12. sarandipitee

    Ouija

Weird, this is basically a floral Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener when wet. All winter green lifesavers minus the vanilla sweetness. As it dries it becomes more musty- but I can’t pinpoint individual notes for the Rose or lilac. It’s a very creepy scent and I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s a little high pitched the longer I wear it and I can see it inducing a headache eventually.
  13. sarandipitee

    Petite Planchette

This is definitely glowing. I tucked my bottle away for a bit of aging and I’m so happy I did. I’m a massive frank and myrrh fan and this does not disappoint. While there was a bit of an edge when I first received it, it’s smoothed into a lovely wooden resin blend sweetened by the sugar and vanilla. This reminds me a little of the library at Trinity College minus the paper. Very happy to have and I think this will age even more sublimely.

    Pumpkin Spice Snake Oil

This is so so good. Ive only now gotten around to testing my bottle I got back in December and I think this little bit of aging was worth it. SO is amazing on me aged but I dont mind it fresh - this is definitely more on the obvs fresh end but the pumpkin spices blend perfectly. The only pumpkin thats ever worked on me is SO in the Pumpkin Patch and while this is quite different on me, I really dig it. Its kinda like if Devils Night 2009 and Snake Oil has a spicy love child. Very in line with the snake pit oils (which sadly dont work on me aside from the old Habu) but IMO better. Very happy to have a bottle and age this one up.
  15. sarandipitee

    Le Lèthè

Oh wow here’s a red musk blend where I can smell more than just the musk (which I really amp). The tobacco, labdanum and Amber are all stunning. This is going to be a bottle upgrade. So lovely.
  16. sarandipitee

    Swank

Very dry and tart. Little bit powdery. I do quite like it, especially for a night out but my imp will be enough. All in all it’s definitely one of my favourite alcohol based blends.

And dish towels (funky, fun, colourful). Is there anything we haven't mentioned that you'd like to share with your partner?: THANK YOU SO MUCH! Working retail means the holidays are really stressful and crazy for me. I can't wait to open your presents and look forward to (hopefully) making a new friend. Please place your wishlists here: ETSY BPAL I love crocheting, it's my favorite hobby. Can I make you a scarf/cowl/sweater/lap blanket to keep you wintery-warm!? YES PLEASE! I love blankets to inifinity and beyond and scarves in Canada are a necessity and I'm unsure what kind of sweater it would be but as long as it was kinda big and oversize (like an XL) I'd love it. Is there any craft or hobby that you are interested in trying? I have lots of stuff I'd like to learn but zero time to do so. I'm still hoping to finish knitting a toque I started 5 yrs ago. When it comes to makeup, what is your coloring? Fair, dark? Sensitive skin? Eye color? Hair color? Style....funky, natural? Any additional makeup info? I am fair and sensitive skinned. I have hazel eyes and naturally brown hair that gets coloured whenever I'm bored (it's currently like autumn right now - red hues and brown tones). I love funky and natural - Urban Decay is my fave line and while I love their Naked palettes, I equally adore my Moondust and Spectrum ones. I'm really in love with Sephora right now. But drugstore brands are cool too! NYX is great. Do you like to receive plants or gardening stuff? Do you grow plants? What's your favourite flower, if you have one? Tiny apartment so no thank you. I love lavender and lilacs the best for flowers. Plus I have this weird thing for pansies. They're just simple and pretty. How do you feel about amigurumi (i.e. little crochet toys), either characters from a fandom, wee animals, or as decorations? No thank you. How do you feel about knit socks? (Plain stockinette, lacework, cables, etc). Are there any other hand knit items you'd especially like? (Mittens, fingerless gloves, hats, etc). Arm warmers and fingerless gloves, toques and cableknit socks are awesome. What kind of snacks do you like? Does dried fruit or crunchy dried vegetables sound appealing? Do you like (raw) honey? Jerky? Jam? What sort of local products do you like to receive as gifts? If you're familiar with products in the Pacific Northwest, is there anything specific you'd like to try? Dried fruit is a yes, I love apple leather and sun dried tomatoes are amazing. Jerky is welcome! I love beef and turkey jerky. I love cool mustards and jams. Would anyone mind bath and body works items? Such as hand sanitizer, lotion, candles, car scents or soap? I love the aromatherapy line from B&BW. Specifically the Lavender/Vanilla Sleep body wash or the Eucalyptus Tea body wash or the Sensual Black Currant Vanilla Body wash (I like body wash lol). I'm not a fan of anything else really aside from some of their candles, but shipping them to Canada is not cheap. If you had a custom perfume/beauty/bath product made for you, what would it be and what would the scent description look like? (everything from prose to the specific selection of notes) : I adore lavender and vanilla best - but black currant, beeswax, opoponax, benzoin and resins are great things to mix in. I love drawing! Either fanart chibis on the tablet or portrait work in graphite pencil... but it's been a while..so I'd love to use this as an excuse to draw something for you! If you could commission an art piece, would you choose traditional or digital artwork- and what would it be of? Oh my gosh that would be great! Either medium is welcome, and I'd love something based on one of my fandoms in my questionnaire (Labyrinth, the Flash, Harry Potter, etc) Christmas decor this year: Sigh. I dunno. I'm hoping to get my tree up and I don't ever do a theme or a colour scheme, I love my tree covered in my hallmark ornaments, my old awful wooden ones I've had for years, treasured glass pcs from my fam etc. It's the same with my apartment. There's a lot of mismatched oddities that have special meaning to me, rather than out of a Martha Stewart Christmas magazine. I also have 2 cats so no plants or tinsel. What's your shoesize? Would you like to receive socks? Size 9 US and sure! Wool is itchy to me, unless it's merino and I love prints and colors. I live in The Netherlands but I will visit England soon and might pay a visit to Germany. Anything special from here that you'd like to try? I love London! Anything UK themed is great. My family is from Lancashire so anything from there would be cool so I can show my Grandpa. Do you have any interest in Shakespearean swag (insult mugs, play themed lip balms, oodles of other possibilities) or general performing arts related goodies? No thanks. What is your favorite Christmas story - be it book, movie, cartoon - and if there are various versions, which is your favorite? A Christmas Carol is important to me and I actually adore the muppets movie version the best. I try to watch it every year. Also, The Grinch who Stole Christmas (not the terrible Jim Carrey abomination but the Boris Karloff classic cartoon), Rudolph and Garfield's Christmas. Do you have a preference for numbered packages or random selection? I like the idea of them being numbered for some reason (but if my Snow Angel would like to leave it random, that's awesome too). Do you have any external wishlists, Goodreads, or anything else that you might not have listed in your survey? I have nothing else aside from ThinkGeek (which needs to updated). If my Snow Angel needs that, I'll update asap and email it through a mod. I am on Goodreads but I've not updated that in forever either For books that are part of a series, do you have a strong preference for whether you receive them in order, assuming that any overarching plot is reasonably easy to pick up on and the main story is self contained? In order please, I'm weird that way. I make paper albums and journals. Would you be interested in receiving something like that? Would you like some other type of handmade paper craft? You can never have too many journals. I stalked your etsy and noticed you like gemstones in jewellery! If yes, what's a list of your favorite semi-precious gemstones? Garnet, moonstone, flourite, alexandrite, emerald, amber, labrodite, onyx. What animals do you think are considered cute? Foxes, cats and kittens, Corgi dogs, owls, chickadees, raccoons and otters. You mentioned scarves in your questionnaire. Are you referring to a chunky thick keep-me-warm-in-a-snowstorm scarf, or a light and lacy could-be-warm-if-I-wound-it-a-hundred-times scarf? Both are great. I wear indoor scarves for fashion and since I live in the arctic I need warm in snow scarves too. Are you currently ISO any BPAL new or otherwise? What are your top 10 scents? Wishlist in my sig but my top 10 scents are: Chokmah, Snake Charmer (original), Dorian, Alice, Fetish.Goth, Pickled Imp, Sin, Morocco, Tintagel and Unseelie. My ISO's are: Unseelie, Tintagel, Molly Grue, Chokmah, Gemini 2016, Ebon Night (TAL), Callisto (Moons of Jupiter), Tattered Lace and Seduction IX (TAL). Black Friday will be a thing during this swap, anything you might want that will be on awesome sale? If anything I've mentioned is on super sale mode sure! We have BF here in Canada but it's nothing to the extant that it is in the US, so I'm unsure if any of the brands I've shown love for go on awesome sale. How do you feel about sweeteners? Do you prefer sugar, stevia, sucralose, etc.? Anything in particular to avoid? I only use real honey and real maple syrup, sometimes some agave nectar. Games: I am into video games for my 2DS and PS3 but I've already pre-ordered Pokemon Moon. I love Lego games for my PS3 and would love Lego The Force Awakens or Lego Marvel Avengers but only if it was on sale super cheap cause video games are expensive. Would you be interested in: - Dried honeycrisp apples - YES! - Applesauce (with red hots for sweetness and cinnamon) no thanks - Rose petal liqueur - I was already gifted some of this amazing stuff - Blackberry, Strawberry Rhubarb, or Peach Jam - Blackberry please - garlic dill pickles - no thank you (we make some every year from my grandfather's recipe) - raw honey from bees on our property - yes please! - Baked or homemade goods (rum balls, spritz cookies, peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, fudge, cranberry bliss bars, chocolate topped toffee, zucchini bread, pumpkin bread, princess buttercups, chex mixes, trail mixes, etc.) I think that baked goods might not always survive a post border crossing. If my Snow Angel is in Canada then I adore peanut butter cookies or marshmallow bars, pumpkin bread and brownies. If you're outside of Canada then chex mix or trail mix or something that might be less likely to get confiscated or have an expiry date. - handsewn project bags or makeup bags? We do different sizes, some with zippers, some with draw strings. I can get all kinds of fandom type fabric like Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Nightmare Before Christmas, Hello Kitty, Harry Potter, My Little Pony, Star Wars, Mario Brothers, etc. I have some glittery bats, skulls, etc. too. If you're interested, what size would you like and would you prefer drawstring or zipper I'd love either type (drawstring or zipper) and I'd love any of my fandoms I mentioned in my sign up. Cookbooks: I tend to use the internet instead. I don't have room for cookbooks To Read list: I haven't had time lately to read anything which sucks. If my Snow Angel thinks I'd love a book based on my likes, go for it. If there's one place you could go in the world, where and why? Narrowing this done to 1 place is hard, but I've alway (since I was like 8) have wanted to see Ireland. What sort of dollar store items do you always get a kick out of? For example, I always love those silly expandable sponges. I love toys for my cats (those annoying balls with bells in them are adored by my one cat, the other loves the little furry mice) and pens/sharpies/pencils etc. Trader Joe's: YES PLEASE!!! TRADER JOE ALL THE THINGS. Seriously, I love cookie butter and cookies and biscotti and omg I wish we had TJ in Canada. How do you feel about sweeteners? Do you prefer sugar, stevia, sucralose, etc.? Anything in particular to avoid?

    The Air and the Ether

This is really lovely. Simple but smells amazing. If you like the 3 notes and or want a new lavender or amber oil don’t wait. This one’s gonna be a sleeper hit.
  19. sarandipitee

    Frostbitten Dorian

I love Dorian with all my heart, but SW is awful plastic dolls head mess to both my nose in the bottle and once it hits my skin. Thankfully Dorian wins out over the two scents after dry down but I don’t think I can make it through the wet SW part. Basically if you can’t do Snow White, at all, avoid. Happy to have tried, but I’ll find a new home for my bottle. I totally take it back. Finally after over an hour into wearing it, it's more of the lovely fougere Dorian (think unaged Dorian) with a tiny hint of vanilla plasticness. I may try to age this one and see what happens.
  20. sarandipitee

    Angeronalia

2017 Wet on my skin this is gardenia, olive blossom, nectarine and blood orange. Then the elemi and the lemongrass come in with a bit more, tang, I guess is the word I want. It’s got a high end feel, but the sweetness from the citrus stops this from becoming too much gardenia which can be headache central for me. On drydown it gets a little bit screechy but I’m still digging it. I’ll try it again in a few months and see how I feel.
  21. sarandipitee

    Day of Skulls

This is a REVELATION. This is a gorgeous, lush, deep floral I not only love but can wear. I dont get much cocoa leaves or tobacco aside from the overall beeswax sweetness mixed with the frank - but holy moley I love this. Cant wait to age this one. Next year will be glorious.
  22. sarandipitee

    Shango

This is a very cool oil. I get a lot of red apple in the beginning (realistic and juicy red delicious) and the banana arrives. The chilli pepper tingles my nose and adds some kick without being super spicy. The other fruits are there but blended extremely well into the background. Overall I like it. I need to age it more to get more of a kick but the imp will do me well.
  23. sarandipitee

    Apple Marshmallow Hair Gloss

Oh man. Believe the hype. Perfect marshmallow vanilla cloud with juicy apple. Sooo happy to have a bottle. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  24. sarandipitee

    Becoming Thunder

Usually, ozone is insta-headache, but wowza this works. The frank really helps to soften things up as does the beautiful green note. Not gonna need more than my decant but I'm interested in seeing what this becomes over time.
  25. sarandipitee

    Sam

This is very pretty - fresh, clean soap with the barest hint of patch underneath. I really wish there was more nag or patchouli coming through. I think aging will really work on this one. I'll keep my decant and try it again in a couple months.
