    SW Summer 2013

** I am working on updating the "Help for My Switchwitch" list... it's getting there!** Friday July 5/13 Anything from Villainess that strikes your fancy, either from their update or from the GC? I like Villainess! I think my favorite items are the custom Smacks - I have done Vanilla Bean, Red Wood, Incense and ... Spice trade I think, which is awesome, and so is Vanilla, Suede, Vanilla, Bluegrass. I loved the Lemon Merengue note she used to have. I am now thinking Cupcake, Berry, Marshmallow, and... maybe raspberry plum? Or just another layer of berry. Suede and incense would be nice too, with vanilla and something. I received a sample of Caspar from SoapBoxCo recently, and really like it. The Nicolita (sp) whipped is really nice - the shea butter one that smells like frosting. Birth Rite is one of my favorite scents from her. Thursday July 4/13 If I wanted to include something for your fluffball, what would be good, and what should I stay away from? Would homemade treats be something you'd like for your dog/cat? If you get a long weekend this weekend... what are you doing with it? Staying in? Going out? Family? Friends? If you don't get a long weekend, are you OK with that, or a little sad? (If you are Canadian, apply this to last weekend). Would you be interested in getting a kombucha starter and instructions on how to use it to easily make your own fermented, probiotic tea drink? Wednesday July 3/13 Anything interesting from the new Paintbox Soapworks update for you? What about recycled sari silk yarn, witches and witchees? Sooo, the Blooddrop update (Aviary and Summer Simplicities). Anything you'd like from there? DEAR FIBER AND YARN PEOPLE: I am going back to Paradise Fibers today. They have like almost every type of fiber roving and dye and stuff available. If you're a spinner and have any fiber wishes, what would you like? Dyed or natural? Do you need dye? colors? brand? Tuesday July 2/13 Every package has to have something blue in it. Blue can also be used to describe more risque humor...how would you rate your general sense of humor? Are you strictly PG-13, R-rated, NC-17? Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? Monday July 1/13 I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? No thank you, I don't really care for ketchup or pickles even not on chips. If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. http://www.hausofglo...er-single-notes QUESTION! Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? I do like kickstarter. I have backed a few projects, and am pleased that they have all gotten funded. I am waiting on rewards from .. three, I think. Two in July and one sometime later - August, September, I don't remember! QUESTION! If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration. Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists Sure, that sounds like fun and I always like local art! How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? Glitter's pretty awesome. I mostly like it glued to things instead of loose, though!! Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? Not really, although I would be pleased to get one, I tend to make lists instead of keeping a journal. Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? It makes me feel sorry for the plant. I'm sure that it wouldn't fare too much better than the poor ones in my yard. But I will have to go back and check the website, I maybe wrong and didn't actually look. Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? I like gourmet popcorn but more traditional flavors I guess. Caramel, cinnamon sugar, LOVE kettle corn but I don't know if that counts as gourmet! Cheesy, spicy. I had a cupcake popcorn recently that was good. Root Beer Float sounds interesting! Question: I make my own hair gloss, would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. That would be great! Thursday June 27/13 I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? For nut-haters, they have nutless Roca For the no-sugar folks they have sugar-free as well. I love Almond Roca and it has been ages since I had any. I don't know what Mountain Bars are, but sure! I like candy. I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? No, no jerky please. No animals. How do you feel about home-canned goods? I like apple butter and applesauce, and preserves - I am not big on pickles or canned vegetables. Marmalade would be wonderful! Do you like BPTP clothing? YES! What size do you wear of: Baby-doll T's xxl Regular T's - I don't have any yoga pants xl I love the tissue tees!!! XXL Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? Or other clothes from BPTP? I love the "A Little Lunacy" tee, and the Black Moon Rising tee. Eventually I will get the Resurrection one in the tissue tee... What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? I love Snake Oil Bath Oil, and always need more. But I have some now. The candles are fabulous, and I only have my beloved Shub one. I'd like decants of the Song of Nature bath oils, they sound interesting but I'm not sure. And I would love if Beautiful Implacable Tyrant came out as bath oil, perfume oil... whatever! I love that one. Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I like all kinds, I guess it just depends on what the movie is. DVDs or in the amazon or iTunes cloud. I can't think of any I am dying for now. I want to see Much Ado, but it just opened and the closest theatre showing it is 2 hours from me. But as soon as it comes out on DVD, that's an insta-purchase! -Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? -Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? Not really. Wish I had a green thumb so I could have a pretty garden/yard? -What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? -Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) I love audio books! I have never gotten around to getting an audible membership, but I think I would enjoy it! Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Love chocolate. Fave: chocolate. Wednesday June 26/13 Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? I don't think so - if I am, I'm probably driving, so audio books. I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you? Sure! Jungle Jim's looks awesome! I wish I had one near me. Spices, candies, things like that. Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? Probably kitchen things - oven mitts, ... uh. A ladle or big spoon for scooping out soup! One of my favorite foods in the world is homemade lentil soup, and everytime I make it, I wish for a ladle. It is a pain to get the soup out of the stockpot with a small serving spoon!! an iphone case - I just can't decide on one, I am seriously waiting for the tp ones! Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? No. What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? I think I answered this somewhere! Jolly Roger, Candy Butcher, Storyville If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? I am too lazy to be in a fandom. I get distracted. Firefly is the closest I come to one - I own the dvds of the series and movie, watch them regularly and watch whenever the marathons come on tv. Dr Who, to a degree. I love Nathan Fillion, David Tennant, Alexander Skarsgard, and many others, but Fillion and Tennant are the ones that I actively seek out what they have done and feel that the show/movie is better since they are in it. So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? Sure! Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? I have two and have plans for at least one more. Well, not "plans". More of a "one day I want to get this..." Tuesday June 25/13 If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I "kind of" knit, don't crochet, and can't think of any needles I need - unless you send me a "kit" - pattern, needles, yarn. Then I need those. Or if you just send me a pattern - chances are I need the needles for that pattern. I enjoy knitting, but find it difficult to find patterns that I like that I can do. I would like to learn how to make socks, but it seems VERY hard. What styles of artwork do you like? I know this isn't going to help, but I like whatever speaks to me. If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? YES! Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? OH YES PLEASE. To both. The Conjure Oils update (http://conjureoils.com/emporium.htm) looks absolutely fabulous...I didn't know she made soaps and candles and whanot. Is there anything from the Oddment Emporium you would like? Probably. I like her things generally. I will look. I just wanted to put this here that I am not opposed to CO's stuff! What is your favorite color? Pinks, mostly. Usually the saturated, fuschia tropical pinks. Hibiscus pink. Almost red. What is your favorite season? All of them! Summer because I love the heat and the green tropicalness that is Virginia, but we get a drought sometimes and that is no good. Fall because I love the crispness and the changing leaves and the cool nights, winter because snow is gorgeous, Spring because it gets warm and things are green and growing. If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? Everywhere! I think I would just travel. I would live for a while in one place, and then relocate.... but I hate moving! Paris, Rome, New York.... Monday June 24/13 Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type (Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored, etc...)? Ninjas or Pirates? Werewolves or vampires? Zombie or Cthulhu? Do you want to receive one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digital stuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? Whatever you want to send me is lovely! I enjoy receiving gifties, of course, but I am not picky as to what/when/how. Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most? (amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiber allergies? Favorite color for knitted items? Yes! amigurumi - those are the little animals? I love those. whatever you make for me will be made will love, and will be worn in love. Sunday June 23/13 Is there a Quote that resonates with you, or that you particularly like a lot. Would this be something you would like artwork made of for your walls or a shirt/bag/scarf? There are a lot of things that resonate with me! I intend to get a tattoo of the quote "I won't let love disrupt, corrupt or interrupt me... anymore." for some reason, that one really seems to be me. A lot of the quotes about how only I am in control of my life, I am the only one who can change my life, etc. - I love a lot of those! Also, STARBUCKS, Yay or Nay? Anything you particularly like? YAY. Is there someone on the forums (within SW or not) who knows you really well and might be able to help with stalking? quimerula was my very first witchee and has become one of my very best friends! Also, I consider TwilightEyes a good friend, and I see Dark Alice, Greylen and Coldie at meet & sniffs pretty frequently. If you happen to find out who yours is, how much would it bother you? It wouldn't bother me, but I tend to read the posts skimming for my witchee, not really paying attention to who is posting other than that - every time I have played, my witch has had to practically jump up and down and enclose a note in a box that says "HEY SILLY I AM YOUR WITCH!!!!" Do you use waxmelts or tarts? If so, which ones do you prefer? I do, I have a tealight warmer and an electric one - I am pretty good on those right now though. I like foody ones, though - if you come across a brand that I should know about or that you love, I would be thrilled! Right now I have Yankee Candle and Scentsy ones, but I would love to try other brands! Do you enjoy drinking hot chocolate, and would you like stuff to make it with, or to add to it? Usually in the winter, and since I drink coffee pretty much every day, I usually mix it in with my coffee, so mochas more than hot chocolate!! Have you ever tried Spoonfudge? Would you enjoy it if your Witch would send you some? Which of the flavors would you like? OMG. How do I not know about this stuff? YUM. Salted Caramel, Fudgey Fudge, Chocolate Mint, Mocha, anything with chocolate + peanut butter, mint, coconut, raspberry - I had to stop looking or I would have ordered one of everything. What's your opinion on Moonalisa? Any favorites or products you'd like to try? Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? (I'm asking because if they did, you might mention them elsewhere, but if not, the imagery might be helpful) I know a lot of people have this problem, but I can't think of any. The Ladies of the Grindhouse are the closest I can think of, not many of them worked on me but I love the imagery. But I can just admire the artwork without wearing the perfume. Saturday June 22/13 Put your mp3 player/online music/itunes/etc on random and list the next 10 songs here: what is your favourite object, that you own, ignoring sentimental reasons for attachment? So I guess something you find beautiful, or fun, or incredibly useful. How big is too big...for something to hang on your walls? If I'm painting you a pretty picture, are there maximum dimensions that you have/prefer? I have one whole blank wall in my living room that I have never decided what to hang there. Also one in my bedroom. So, that's pretty big. Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Sure! I have an issue with Walmart, so not there. Anywhere else, pretty much! Somewhere either close to me or that I can use online, obviously. But I can't think of anywhere except Walmart that I refuse to shop at. Is there anything from Australia you would like? eg: snacks (yes, you can ask for Tim Tams!), books, magazines, memorabilia? Oooh the Tim Tams!! So freaking good. I also have an obsession with koalas. I had some of the musk lifesavers in the candy swap - like eating perfume! I would love to get some of those chocolate frogs for my nieces and nephew, but I could probably find them at an import store somewhere if I actually looked. It's really too hot here now to send chocolate in the mail, I think! Do you have any problems with swearing or particularly off-color humor? No. What style is your sense of humour? Opinions on table top games, from cards and board games, to dice and rpgs. What do you like? What don't you like? Favorites? Any classics you like? Do you collect any? What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? Is there a literary character you identify with? Even if it's not spot-on, just someone you found yourself having that "I identify with this" feeling? What are the three books you most want to read right now, and which you don't already have? Would you like something from Empire Edibles? (http://www.etsy.com/...s?ref=top_trail) Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? (i.e. do you REALLY want perfume oil of some sort, or would you be totally heartbroken if there was no Lush in your box, etc I can't imagine being heartbroken if there was no specific item in my box. I don't know how else to say this without sounding snotty, so..... anything I receive is a gift, and will be received in that light, with gratitude. Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? YES! I love tarot cards, the mystical looking ones rather than the cutesy ones - I would love a set in the style of the Carnaval - just to give you an idea. I am looking for a new pendulum - I have a pendulum board coming sometime in July from a kickstarter I supported, so I want one for that. I tend to use a stone on a chain rather than the metal ones, I just like them better. I would love a Herkimer Diamond to use. What fandoms do you belong to? What cheers you up? Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? What question do you hate to answer? What is the best compliment you have/could receive? Would you like anything from an European country? Any particular food or goodies, magazines, books, whatever would be available to your witch in his/her country. Do you like bags? If so, what type (rucksack, clutch, shopping bag) colour and would you like/need a new one? What's your favourite comfort food(snack or candy etc) and/or drink? Would you be interested in someone writing out for you a favourite recipe, or finding or devising one which they think you'd like? If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? (sorry if this feels a bit Spanish Inquisition!) If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home? Are your ears pierced? Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? If so, any particular type you'd love to get? Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!? Thursday June 20/13 Do you read literature/culture blogs or websites of any kind? I'm thinking about anything that would help a putative witch to get a sense of what your current tastes in books, movies, games, genres, approaches to culture and literature and so forth are How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?) Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure? Which reading level do you prefer to read in YA or Adult? Or even both? Wednesday June 19/13 If you could have one rare bpal which one would you choose? I would have to say Storyville. I absolutely adore my tiny sample. (Feel free not to answer, I know it's not a standard one!) Are you kinky? Someone answered - it's hard to be kinky by yourself.... Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands? I do! I like mostly foody scents, vanilla and cake and lemon. But I love Witches Brew from YC, and I think I would like a lot of Dark Candle type scents. I know that there was another company I wanted to try, and I can't think of the name! Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African? I've never been, would love to go, and sure! Do you like Sockdreams? If so, what styles would you prefer? (You can also link your wishlist.) I do like sockdreams! I don't have a wishlist there, but I like the pretty ones instead of the silly ones. Do you need hair accessories? If so, what kind or color? I dont' think so. I usually wear my hair down or up in a knot with just a hair band or spin pins. Easy. I do like hair bands, ribbony ones. But since my hair is so fine, they tend to slip. What is your favorite shade of blue? I like blue. Someone answered Tardis blue or Tiffany blue, and I agree! Do you have any kitchen gadgets (a SodaStream, a Kuerig/Tassimo) that you want mix things for? I can't think of anything - if there is, it is on my Amazon wishlist.. I just bought a onepot pressure cooker & I would like a steamer basket. If you were to start learning something new (intellectual or craft or hobby), what would it be? I am taking a Reiki class (hopefully) in August, I would like to (re)learn tarot readings. I used to do them regularly but haven't for years. What about candy? Do you have a sweet tooth? Absolutely! I have SUCH a sweet tooth! Do you have an e-reader? What kind? Would you like to get ebooks? I do, I have a kindle app on the ipad and use that .... I would love to get e-books! If your witch is an extremely crafty sort, and she were to send all kinds of homemade foody goodies and handmade crafty stuff - what are items you would NOT LOVE to receive. Please dont hedge on this one...some of us are serious crafters and will be making most of what we send! I would love pretty much any and all crafted things. Food - yes! Just not meat. Knitted/crocheted items - yes! I love those little tiny animals, I can't remember what they are called. Sewn/painted/photographed, and I am sure others - yes! I am in awe of people who can actually make things. Jewelery - yes! although I tend to wear the same things over and over, kind of signature pieces... Witchee dear, do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? I don't have any that I play, although I like them in theory. I am very interested in BioShock Infinite for some reason, and do want to play that one! Do you have something you do, without fail, as a personal daily habit/ritual? (Examples: pen-and-paper journal keeping, tea/coffee drinking, morning yoga, nightly bedtime reading. I'm kind of thinking on things that would be dear to you and might need small supplies or could use certain extras. ) Uh.... get up shower go to work come home collapse. Mostly that. I am WORKING on developing daily rituals - my goals include a daily yoga practice, and walking and eventually running. Do you wear nailpolish? What colors do you tend to go for? What are your favorite brands? Are you open to trying indie brands? On my toes - I like all kinds of colors, brights, darks, glitters... not pastels. Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. Do you still write real letters on nice stationary to people you like/love? Sometimes. Notes mostly, in note cards as opposed to letter stationery. Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? I LOVE Tarty's work! She makes gorgeous, wonderful soaps and scrubs! I love The queen is dead, Pick-A-Duck, and Avast. Mandinka is gorgeous too. I want to try Candyfloss, she didn't make pick-a-duck this year but said since I liked pick-a-duck I would probably like candyfloss. Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I probably have space - a townhouse with a big backyard - but sadly, a black thumb. I keep trying, but feel bad for them when they all die. This years death rowers are knock out roses and various herbs in pot gardens. Do you like sample sized things? Think lipgloss, mascara, bodylotion, scrubs, mini candles, and so forth. Sure! It's a great way to try things out I'm not sure about. Have you tried Fortune Cookie Soap? What products or scents would you like? These look awesome! Foody, or resiny scents. Do you use solid soaps at all? If so, what kind do or don't you like? I do! Paintbox, Villainess, Haunt are my favorites. Have you ever tried Cocoa Pink? If you are curious about it, what looks interesting to you? I have tried Cocoa PInk, and love the lotions. The shampoo/conditioners didn't do my hair any favors and actually as I write this, are on my swap page. I like the Black Vanilla fragrance, and I am sure that there are a ton of others that I would love since I do love foody scents. Dr Who? Love. David Tennant in whatever he choses to do is fabulous, and Dr. Who does amazing, thought provoking stories. I enjoy all the Doctors, DT is just my favorite. How much do you like lipbalm? Flavored or unflavored? What are your favorite brands and flavors? I I like lipbalm, wear it every day and at night, and have a ton. I love Haunt's lip lust - sweet cream is wonderful. My sister had some great lipbalm called Chicken Poop? or something like that. I want to try... I think it's called Yee Haw ? All natural, vegan. Do you like and wear lipgloss? If yes, what colours? Not a ton of lipgloss, usually lipstick. I like buxom's glosses, though. For those of you whose wishlists contain only BPALs, are there any other perfume companies you like or would like to try out? My wishlist has several other companies! Villainess, Arcana, Conjure, and lots of others. Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. And if you had them and dislike them, can you name a few *other* tea companies you're into? Never tried them, but would love to! What about coffee? Yes please! Who is your favourite female of all time? Historical, literary, ANYTHING, and why? Queen Elizabeth I fascinates me. An amazing woman who accomplished so much and is still a mystery in so many ways. If you were a Disney princess you would be?: Hm. Aurora, maybe? More likely, Maleficent.

    My Happy Day

Sweet fizzy jasmine, perfect for a hot day! I think it's the plum sugar giving it an almost candied sweetness, but the fizziness keeps it light. The honeysuckle adds a fresh sweetness as well.
  3. ltrittipoe

    The Turkish Village

I LOVE this! Warm, rich, thick coffee with heady exotic spicy rose. This is just gorgeous on, and so well blended that it is a very natural scent, like I am sitting in a cafe with a huge arrangement of roses - those huge non-hybrid ones, with petals falling everywhere - and a cup of strong, rich, VERY sweet coffee in front of me. ETA: ok, I just looked at the notes again. When I looked up Damascene Rose, that is exactly the rose I pictured. And I agree that it is pink. And buhur is incense? From what I could find out. That is the smoky spice that is peeking out in the background!

    Whipped Cream and/or Marshmallows?

Boo - especially if you can find the 2009 version (not that hard to find) - to me, it's very whipped cream/spun sugar. BOO Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream.

    Miss Spink

Skin chemistry is so weird! And while I have had some minor examples of this, Miss Spink is a MAJOR skin chemistry weirdo. (Keep in mind this is fresh out of the mailbox). Freshly applied, I get floral cookies. Drying down, I get this odd tea/cookie/floral combination. Then, completely dry, I get.... Red Lace. In a side by side comparison, Red Lace is slightly more sweet, Miss Spink is slightly more smoky. But so similar!

    Haute Macabre

Wet, the almond in this is almost overwhelming on my skin, similar to the almond in The Organ Grinder (which ruined that scent for me, ) I get almost nothing of any of the other notes, just ALMOND stomping all over everything. As it starts to dry down, the leather starts peeking out, a soft, worn leather, blending with the almond (Thank gods) to tone down ALMOND into something not so trompy and pencil shaving-y. I can detect a little of the vanilla, and something woody that isn't the almond, but sadly, no patchouli. Overall, this is a gorgeous scent, and I am so glad that I have a bottle, but I don't think it will every be a favorite - for leather, Crowley wears much better on my skin, without the ALMOND, and I don't get enough bourbon vanilla or patch to make it something that I will reach for constantly. But I am very interested to see how it ages, and how it layers.
  7. My summery favorites are: Tiki Princess How Doth the Little Crocodile Jolly Roger Katharina Bayou Harigata II Bones Trombone Kitty Swank and for after dark, Snake Oil, Mme Moriarty, Banshee Beat...
  8. ltrittipoe

    Delight and Consternation

No sludge in mine at all! In the bottle, I get a lot of lemon blossom - custardy lemon blossom. Wet, I can pick out an edge of cocoa and rose, but still mostly light custardy lemon blossom. As it starts drying down, the rose and oudh come forward a little, but it stays light, with nothing really dominating the blend. Dry, no chocolate or bourbon vanilla. Very close to the skin, mostly rose and lemon blossom at this point. Overall, I get light, fresh lemony, creamy floral. It's lovely, and I am so glad I have a bottle, but I have to admit that I was hoping to be able to pick out tons of chocolate and bourbon vanilla! I think this will be perfect for summer.

    Dawn: Mourning Victory

I have had this bottle for almost six months, and haven't reviewed yet? This is an incredibly well blended scent, but I can get whiffs of each seperate floral depending on how far away from my arm I am sniffing. Close, it is mostly hyacinth, and then as I move farther away (like normal wrist-length to my nose) I am getting wafts of tuberose, jasmine and hyacinth. I think the tea and rosehips add a freshness, a lightness to this scent, and the sandalwood grounds it. Light, airy, lovely floral. Not too overpowering, very elegant.

    Autumn Lace

Fresh out of the mailbox (and it is chilly today, I didn't even wait for it to warm up! ) : to my nose, this is reminiscent of Tattered Lace more than any others, but I definitely get the Falling Leaf Moon leaf scent (which I was hoping for!) Absolutely gorgeous, vaguely "perfumey" with the addition of that gorgeous leafy note. I think the cognac reads as "perfumey" on my skin, not in a bad way, but more perfumey than boozey. Tattered Lace and Black Lace both had that same backnote on me, but weirdly so does Red Lace. So maybe it's some particular "Lace" note? Good thing I like it! I will retest when it has settled from its journey a little and post any changes.... but so far, Falling Leaf Lace!

    Sugared incense

Heretic layered with Snake Oil = sweet, pure, smoky incense.

    Sexy, heady, incensey recs?

Heretic is gorgeous incense, not sweet, just lovely pure incense! A little smoky, very unisex IMO, but really the only way to describe it is stunning.

    Heretic

Oh, how I love Heretic! The first time I tried it, it won an immediate top ten slot. I think "decadent, deep and gorgeous" describes it perfectly. It is sweet, resiny, stunning but an unobtrusive scent - not that it doesn't have decent longevity/throw, but I think it is "unobtrusive" in the way that someone might think "I smell something really good" instead of "someone's perfume smells really good". I can't wait to see how this ages - it is already so gorgeous and I only got it three days ago. Aged, this will be one to treasure! The frank is a touch sharp in the bottle, but don't let that scare you - it mellows out on my skin immediately. And it goes BEAUTIFULLY with Snake Oil. Just sayin'.

    Beaver Moon 2012

I get Lambs-Wool cheesecake also! From start to finish, that exactly describes this incarnation of Beaver Moon. I get all the creaminess and spice and rich apple from Lambs-Wool, with the bonus of CHEESECAKE!! This is my favorite since Beaver'versary. Absolutely delicious and just gorgeous.

    Who are the authorized resellers?

Not a purchasing answer, but depending on when/how long you will be in the area, there is a Meet & Sniff planned for 9/16 at Tyson's Corner Mall - the thread is here. Tyson's Corner is in Virginia, outside of DC - don't know where you will be but we would LOVE to see you there! You would get to sniff lots of things, including unimpables - and I'm sure if there are any you are interested in sniffing in particular, someone would be able to bring them along! (I know I could bring War and Countess Willie for you to try, for example - at least you would able to know if you want to order them!) xo, L
  16. Eat Me is sugary cake on me, absolutely awesome!

    Sugared incense

Ha, sorry! I have been dipping in and out of this thread whenever I saw new posts, and completely forgot what whas the original love! I put on some Temple Viper today and thought, "hmmmmm.... sugared incense"! And I hve been following the posts for the same reason..... love, love the sugar + incense combination!

    Sugared incense

I love Snake Charmer Res! My other favorite sugared incense and (hopefully, HOPEFULLY) available again soon when the CD comes back, is Temple Viper: Snake Oil with sugar cane, frankincense, champaca, opoponax, labdanum, and hyssop The incense seems similar on my skin, but it could be the vanilla + exotic spices that they both share!

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

Bones Trombone smells exactly like lemon meringue pie to me! Lemon Scented Sticky Bat is more lemon candy on me.

    Ghoulish

So much amaretto! A lovely liqueor, a little maraschino cherry but mostly boozy amaretto. As it dries down on me, I get the chocolate from chocolate covered cherries, with the amaretto. Absolutely like eating from a box of chocolate covered cherries, sipping a snifter of warmed Amaretto. Delicious.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

So happy I won this on ebay! I have been wanting a bottle for ages. In the bottle.... like warm cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. on.....pure cherry lollipop. With something else underneath.....as it warms and melds with my skin, I get..... I don't know - almost cherry tootsie pop? That hint of chocolate in the middle? I think that's it. Warmer than just cherry candy, but not really chocolate.... I keep huffing my arm to try to figure it out! I think that's it - Cherry Tootsie Pops.

    Snake Oil Hair Gloss

I received this in yesterday's mail, and wanted to wait until today to do a full review (dry v. wet hair). My hair is very fine, color treated, highlighted, and Brazilian-Blowout'd. (Hey, I'm a hairdresser, ). I am glad that others mentioned that their bottles didn't seem to "mist" as much as "stream" - mine does too. So last night on my dry hair, I got a little too much on one side, And so I did want to try this morning on my wet hair, a squirt into the palm of my hand, rub my hands together and then apply starting with the ends. Then I blow-dried not using any other products, and then when my hair was dry, about another 1/2 squirt into my hands and lightly run my hands through my hair. I love this! My hair is shiny and smooth, and of course, smells goooooooood! My hair feels good, not greasy or anything, healthy and smooth. And shiny! I didn't need any other products for blowdrying, and the scent is rich and true, like SOBO. Love, love. OH, but don't forget, as Puddin' mentioned in the BPTP thread: SHAKE the bottle before you apply! It does setttle/seperate like the SOBO. This is a wonderful, yummy product, well worth the money! Go get some!

    Spun Sugar Spectre Bath Oil

I always use the bath oils as after shower moisturizers. This is wonderful, wonderful sugary sweetness, and reminds me so much of my much-loved Zombie Apocolypse! I am getting the light jammy red fruit and carmelized cotton candy that I get from ZA. Not the exact same, but similar on my skin. I will need moar.

    Boo

The 2011 version is drier and more "linen-y" on me than either 2009 or 2010. I guess I am getting more of the cotton sheets - I really am getting a vanilla cotton smell! Still the sweet, creamy vanilla that I love so much, but not AS sweet or creamy. But still an all time favorite!

    The Triumph of Death

From the listed notes, I really thought this would be instant :love!: for me. However....... All I get is.... pot. Marijuana. And it doesn't morph in any way. It took me a while to figure out what it was the The Triumph of Death reminded me of, but once I figured it out, that was all I could smell! I even tried layering a little Snake Oil over it to see what would happen, but the Snake Oil was stomped down (!). Off to the swaps. Single note marijuana is just ... not me.
