    Nemesis

Holy yumminess batman! I smell pine and musk- a peppery sort of tang. A bit of citrus. Somehow this avoids smelling like a cleaning product, as I'd expect of a pine-citrus scent. Ah, now the rose is emerging, and it's beginning to smell a bit like some of the Crabtree & Evelyn hand lotions. It's a clean smell on me somehow, not overly patchouli dominated. The musk definitely dominates at first. Kind of musk-pine-citrus-rose in that order. I like this initially much more than I do as time passes. Hm, I think I'd love this as a unique room oil in December. When it's wet it's like burning incense next to a Christmas tree. After some time: Musky pine, methinks. Sometimes soapy on me, sometimes dirty. An intriguingly shifty, inconsistent blend.

    Ace of Swords

Lavender and rosemary all the way- this is a calming, soothing scent much like many of the herbal remedies I have for stress. It's gentle soothing presence is a contrast to the idea of Swords (I don't know my tarot, though, so I might be mistaken). Hm, there are some other herby florals in here- none of the bright screaming display flowers but the quieter medicinal herbs... perhaps some chamomile? I wouldn't be surprised if there was a _touch_ of sandalwood? jasmine or ginger in the arsenal as well. The lavender definitely dominates though. It's like the eye bag I put over my face at the end of yoga class... cooling and soothing.

    Red Moon 2004

I just got an decant of this to try and I am so glad I did! Wet and in the vial I thought - "Ugh, cherry lollypop"- I could only smell the aroma of red hard candies and it was too sweet for me. The drydown of this on my skin this mellows out the sweetness and allows soft florals and a bit of spice to emerge- the florals aren't too sweet but rather combine with the very red aroma to make a sort of dusky vibe. It's definitely a summer scent- the scent of wildflowers in the heat, the leisurely sipping of fruity cocktails while fanning onself. A red scent indeed.

    Voodoo

Oh my, Cherry Cola! That's my first impression. I have to say based on the ingredients list, which is somehow all things I adore, I had to try this- and fast. After the initial blast of red fruits (oddly enough), it settles into a woody scent with a touch of sweetness over top. Vanilla, yes, almond, yes... musk, yes. I don't smell the clove. The pachouli comes out more slowly than the sweet.... but it builds over time. A couple of hours later and I smell the lime- it's lime mixed with something slightly bitter however. Oddly, this oil seems to be a bit of an aphodisiac on me. Not sure why, but I'm not complaing. Not sure what it says they I like it on me and not anyone else though! This might be a new favorite. I am smitten.

    Jolly Roger

Hmmm Jolly Roger smells sorta like those "Sea Breeze" spray scents you can get in places like Victorias secret- the ones that look like blue water. I've smelled this on scented candles too. When I can get close enough I smell a bit of sweetness underneath the smell of soap- particularly a Dial Antibacterial scent. As it settles I do begin to smell sand and suntan lotion- not so much the ocean breeze as the smell of things associated with it. Hmmmmm... not for me.

    Corazon

Wow, a truly unique scent, and lovely that it was for a good cause. I smell a fruity sourness, like a kiwi cut in half, or bitters in a fruity alcoholic drink. I do smell the mango in this but it is definitely a raw freshly cut mango, not the sweetness of juice. The sweetness isn't overwhelming, it's not quite musky either, just slightly bitter. Slightly. This is an amazing scent for summer, and for the Lush fans in the bunch, goes swimmingly with the sweet-sour-bitter scent of Skin Sin lotion. Just... intoxicating. Like a porch on a summer evening with fruity cocktails. Yes...

    Anubis

When I sniffed this in vial I smelled every magic shop I'd ever been in. Something about the mingling of that many different herbs in one place makes magic shops all smell similar. I was surprised how sweet this became when I put it on my wrist- it was as if there was a touch of rose in the blend. The magic shop began to mingle with Hallmark store, but in a comforting way. I also smelled what seemed like a really "behind the scenes" whiff of mint and something vaguely floral apart from the rose. This gets less sweet and more incensey as it settles down. It's strong on me though- the scent fills the room just from daubing it on my wrist. After a time the rose reemerges and I get the scent of a baby-powder rose and honey mixture. Something young, geared toward application on wee ones. I've never had a scent change and develop as much as this one did on me. I've gone through several different responses to it as well.

    Milk Moon 2005

Oh Milk Moon... I got a 5ml bottle of this after sniffing it in Alternate Realities. It's very sweet - like warmed marshmallow fluff with toasted almond on top- it smells a bit like amish friendship bread, vanilla, almond sugar.... at first I thought too sweet, but I couldn't put it down because my mouth was watering. I imagined drifting off to sleep with this smell (for you Lush fans, layered on top of Sympathy for the Skin lotion). After it has had time to dry on my arm it begins to smell like buttercream frosting on my wrist. It makes the people I hold my wrist up to want to nibble on it- a delectable and comforting scent. Milk and honey. I want to lay in a field on my back watching the moon and chewing on honeysuckle.

    Love Me

Wow, this was just sent to me as a free sample and I am so pleasantly surprised. It was one of those scents that instantly transported me back to a specific time and place. Initially it was a bit of cherry bubblegum, then musk. Cherry musk. Then it struck me that it tasted like the experience of having fruity cocktails (in particular Kamakazes and Cosmos) in a dark club. Like the musk of darkly perfumed strangers mixed with sweet red fruit. It's bright and also exotic. Very interesting; it won me over so quickly.

    Languor

Well, I thought the ingredients list sounded nifty in a brief daze during which I forgot that I don't enjoy florals- they make my nose twitch and my head ache a bit. So *sniffles a few times* This is very perfumey - all I smell are lilies and narcissus and I'd like it better if the opium notes were stronger. On me this just smells generic like every other floral perfume. It's overpowering enough that I cannot pick out any subtleties beneath the blast. Must... get this.... out of... house.... yech!

    The Coiled Serpent

Wow.... I am an avid yoga practioner and a lover of pachouli. I guess Coiled Serpent was meant for me. It's musky/spicy/peppery - there is something here that smells vageuly ceder-y, like a blanket taken out of a ceder closet. Definitely not an overwhelming scent- it wafts gently up from my wrists every so often to remind me I have it on.

    India Bouquet

Oooooh well, this smells just like I am sitting in an Indian restaurant with a plate full of fresh nan in front of me. However, hm, the nan seems to be sprikled with the little pastel anise pieces from the jar by the door. It is curry, vanilla, anise, coriander all at once. Oddly, the more it fades the more it also smells like a strong cinnamon- like cinnamon toast sans the sugar. It's strong enough that I keep catching wiffs of it on my wrist. You know, I'm not sure I want to smell like this, but I think it's a keeper for a home scent. I wouldn't mind my apartment smelling this exotic. Off of my body I find the aroma calming and centering.

    Leanan Sidhe

This smells so... familiar. I can't place it at all but it reminds me of many things, so it's not an entirely original scent. It's like a combination of Irish Spring soap (sorry, heh, but I grew up with that around). It's definitely lush and green, but in a bit of a contrived way. As I write it's still drying on my wrist though, so I'll give it some more time. It does seem to bother my sinuses a bit though. Maybe Irish Spring meets Anias Anias? It's like a lovechild of the two. I smell purple flowers in here too (not violets... more like iris, lilac, and crocus flowers ... As this fades it gets sweeter... but is still cloyingly perfumely. I think perhaps too many flowers in this for me.
