    Highwayman

Highwayman was the scent that made me order BPAL in the first place. I was so drawn to the description, and it sounded so unique and interesting. I had high hopes for this, which were dashed immediately, unfortunately. In bottle: This is the one time where I liked the scent better in the vial than on me. Very leathery here, hardly getting any other smell at this point. On me: I don't smell gardenia, or cinnamon. All I'm getting is overpowering floral (without the gardenia I love so much and also no trace of rose for me), and leather. But not in a pleasant way, there's a burning smell with this. Not a pleasant, smokey burning smell. An acrid burning smell. Final note: Though I was personally disappointed with this scent, perhaps it works better on someone elses skin. I could also see a man wearing this, though I wouldn't be that into it on a guy either, I think some people might. After this has been on me for a few hours, the acrid smell has toned down a bit, and I'm getting a little more woody/leathery smell. It doesn't come soon enough for me though for me to really like this fragrance.
  2. I found Grog to be very foody and sweet, though I didn't care for it myself, it smelled like spiced rum cake to me and I think anyone who was a fan of foody scents, or Gluttony, would love it

    Leanan Sidhe

In bottle: Strong white floral, that's it. On me: All I get from this perfume is a strong white floral that makes me think of lilies, and soap. Final note: I didn't get any herbally scent from this at all, it just smelled very floral to me, and made me think of hand soap.
  4. Does anyone have a good suggestion as to what (regular catalog scent) smells like Hunter Moon? I see someone mentioned Lampades before, and I am about to eagerly order it in hopes that it will come out very close on me. But, I was wondering if anyone else had more suggestions? I just got an imp of it yesterday and I am horribly, horribly upset that I won't have a chance to get more of this, because it is probably my most favorite scent at this point.

    Hemlock

In the bottle: Pungent, green, strong and I'm mostly getting a eucalyptus smell. On me: It's settled down quite a bit on my skin, but the smell is still very green and fresh. It smells like eucalyptus mostly, with touches of pine and a tiny tiny little hint of mint. As it is on me longer, there is something warm in the background that I can't identify, it's not a green smell, and it ends up making this less "fresh" smelling than I had hoped for. Final note: This smells a little more masculine/cologne-y to me than I imagined it would have. I think it would smell great on a guy, but it's definitely not for me, though I don't dislike it by any means. A nice scent either way

    Hunter Moon 2004

In the bottle: Cough syrup. Cherry cough syrup is all I get from the bottle. Makes me a bit dizzy, and it's pretty awful lol On me: Much better. Not so much the medicinal smell anymore, now it's lighter - fruitier than I was expecting as well, I think that's mostly the wine smell. As it dries, I'm starting to get a little bit more of a woodsier smell, just a touch. And then some spices kicking in. Final note: Not what I expected at all to be honest, but all the same I do like it. Like it enough to want to track down a whole bottle for myself! Definitely couldn't get a feel for this one in the vial, it's so very different on my skin! EDIT: I had to come back and say that I LOVE this scent. This is probably my favorite so far, it's so perfectly Autumn!

    Juke Joint

In the bottle: When I smelled this in the vial, I was totally convinced that this was going to be way too strong and boozy for me. It was kind of pungent smelling as well. On me: As soon as I put this on, I could tell right away that the impression I got from the vial was completely wrong. The "boozy" smell I was getting almost completely disappears, and this turns into a very sensual, sexy and warm scent with just a hint of sweetness and booze smell, and the very very tiniest bit of fresh mint. Final note: This scent is truly gorgeous. Don't let the smell in the vial fool you, you really have to put this on and wear it. The longer I have it on, the more I love it!

    Grog

In bottle: Very strong, overwhelmingly sweet. Definitely very rum like On me: This is, in my opinion, too sweet for me. It's almost sickeningly so. Once it dried, it wasn't so much a boozy smell a as a foody one. I would compare it more to rum spice cake, than to rum. There's something very warm and nutty about the smell as well. Final note: Not for me, I find this to be a bit too sweet, though after a few hours it smells more pleasant to me. Unfortunately though, I don't want to wait a few hours before enjoying my perfume lol. People who like really sweet foody scents, will more than likely enjoy this one though

    Bordello

Just got this in a big batch I got today, and wanted to review this first! In bottle: Bright smelling, strong, a little sweet. I think I'm mostly getting the black currant right out of the bottle. On me: Wow. I didn't expect to like this one a lot to be honest, as I was expecting it to be too "berry" for me, but it really isn't! The amaretto really warms this right up and creates a warm, glowing scent, with just a touch of sweetness and berry smell. It's definitely not an overwhelming berry scent. It's not too sweet either, which I really like about it Final note: I really like it - I haven't decided yet if this will be something I need a full bottle for or not, but I'm leaning towards yes lol. Also, my dog Loki totally loves this scent, he's just crazy about it, as odd as that sounds! He won't stop pawing at my arm and smelling my wrist! So Loki gives this two paws up!

    Black Phoenix

In the bottle/wet on me: When I first opened my imp of this and put it on, it was the immediate smell of strong almond oil. That's all I could smell, and it smelled wonderful! On me: Sadly though, this goes straight to baby powder scent after 3 minutes on me. I'm really disappointed in that, because it smelled so amazing out of the vial. I do have to say that I can't smell any of the fruity smell other people are getting though. Final note: If this didn't go to powder on me, I'd buy a big bottle ASAP. EDIT: I wanted to note - quite HAPPILY I might add - that if I put this on anywhere else *besides* my wrists, it doesn't go powdery! YAY!

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Can someone help me out with this? I do not have Excel and I've never used it before. I'd love to have some method of keeping track of this stuff on my PC, but I'm totally lost when it comes to this stuff. Where can I get Excel or another program that will allow me to use these spreadsheets? Thanks in advance!

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

Hesperides - Hes-pair-uh-dees Lampades - Lam-pah-days Hamadryad - Ham-uh-dry-uhd Of course, there are different variations to each of those words, depending on where you're learning your Greek mythology

    Xiuhtecuhtli

In the bottle: Not getting any floral smell at all yet. Just a smokey, heavy scent. On me: Kind of unusual...it's smokey, a little sweet - definitely not showing any florals on me though. It has an unusual crispness for a smokey scent though. THis comes off as slightly cologne-y on me - not overwhelmingly masculine though, I could just see this on a man as well as a woman. Final note: I like this a lot. Though my chemistry definitely didn't pick up on a floral smell like some others, this has a really beautiful and rich warmth to it.

    The Hesperides

The Hesperides are the Nymphs of the Evening who dwell in a verdant garden located in the Arcadian Mountains, guarded by the terrible three-headed dragon, Ladon. Within their garden lives the tree that bears Hera’s sacred Golden Apples. Their perfume is that of sturdy oak bark, dew-kissed leaves, twilight mist and crisp apple. My first review! And also my very first BPAL scent! In the bottle: Woah. Fermented smelling. Dizzying - it makes me a bit light headed. Not necessarily in a bad way. Definitely sweet, but a fruity floral kind of sweet, not a candy kind of sweet. On me: Definitely making me think of cider. It has kind of a whoozy, boozy fruity thing going on, and I mean that as a compliment. There's a bit of a bite deep down in the scent - but mostly I'm getting this floral cider-y smell. (I should note that at very first, when this scent is still wet, I get much more of a green scent to it then I do after it drys. It's actually kind of an odd smell, and it reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on...) Final call: I like this. I'm not sure I'd wear this on a daily basis, but it's a really curious scent in my opinion (which makes it good!). It definitely makes me feel like I'm drinking cold cider though. Although, the longer it's on me it starts to smell a bit more floral than fruity. EDIT: I figured out what best this describes this scent for me - a wine cooler. It smells alcoholic and dizzying, with a slight touch of fizziness and fruitiness.

    Can we order single notes?

Yeah I see what happened now. I went into advanced mode, click single notes, but didn't see the "current" selection where you could change it to be only dicontinueds or whatnot. I blame that on the fact that I'm going on well over... *checks clock* ... 24 hours of sleeplessness.

    Can we order single notes?

I tried that but when I did it, it says that it's only for "current" scents. Also, the review forum is helpful, and I did see that - but I was more or less just looking for a complete list of each one released. I see that some review sections don't have a review for every scent, so I thought asking for a complete list might be easiest in knowing what every single note released was

    Can we order single notes?

Hey guys! I don't know if I'm just missing this somewhere or not, but I've seen mention of a line of single note scents (which I'm guessing were LE) but I can't find the list of them anywhere! Is there some info on them around here? Thanks for the help!

    Night Queen?

Oooh Night Queen! That's one of my favorite scents too! Typically, Night Queen is a combonation of Musk, Rose, Jasmine and Sandalwood. It sounds like possibly scents like Queen Mab, Morocco, or Namaste might have the same sort of "feel" to it, but that's just a guess
