Hymn

In the imp and for the first two minutes or so, this was green and sharp, then suddenly explodes into delicious omg ROSE with incense -- deep floral spiced with incense. I was all ready to go yes pls many bottles and will wear it every day and pray all the rosaries and then after about 2 hours it went powdery, and then faded all together, much much faster than the other imps I tested this week, which all lasted a good 10 hours. Verdict: Keeping the imp for wearing to bed, for that first hourish of nommy delicious rose+incense, and searching for a longer lasting floral incense.

    Oleander Honey

Frimp from the lab. In the bottle I got a sharp green that I'm assuming is oleander. Drying it was sweet honey with just a hint of bitter wafting through. It makes me think and feel "honey" all evening, but comparing it to the bottled honey in my kitchen, it's actually much sharper and less sweet than pure clover honey -- I'll definitely buy perverted bees making evil honey. I don't think I entirely know how to identify oleander yet, but this did answer for me the question of whether I wish to smell like honey -- yes. This is probably not the honey blend of my heart, but I'll keep the imp while I search for that other honey.

    Hellfire

Very sweet, and I didn't get any hint of leather and almost none of incense. A faint whiff of smoke as it was drying, then just sweetness that I think is musk. I agree with above reviewers that there's almost-vanilla. I got this in an Incense Imp Pack from the lab, so I was really hoping for more incense. :/ The long-lasting sweetness is pleasant, but not particularly evocative for me.

    Al Azif

Provenance: 1/6 of the Incense Imp Pack from the Lab. In the imp and wet on my skin there was a distinct, foody sweetness that I couldn't name -- reading the reviews it might be maple, but not exactly. Something in the maple/brown sugar/caramel family, but not exactly any of those. Definitely food, though, a baking ingredient. It stayed sweet, but dried down to sweet incense, no longer something edible. I'm going to hang onto this one, especially since other reviews suggest it ages interestingly.

    Penitence

Nommmmmm. It makes me think of walking into a New Age/witchy shop more than church, but either way, is a comforting, wonderful homecoming scent for me. I can't distinguish frankincense and myrrh, as both are present in my church's anointing oils, but the combination is one of my favorite scents, and this didn't disappoint. After having it on my wrists for 10 minutes I decided to go ahead and put some on my neck as well, and I'm pretty sure I'd like a bottle. I love the smell of incense, and incense is what I got. It does, indeed, do what it says on the tin, and this is sweet, rich, holy, gorgeous.

    Neutral

I got this as a frimp from the Lab and opened it yesterday when I was testing something else just to get an idea, since I had no idea what musk might smell like, and I was overwhelmed (in a good way) with the sweetness and almost put it on my skin immediately. In the imp and on my skin, wet and dry: deliciously sweet. It feels pale green to me, and made me think of cucumber, although mostly it smells fruity (something bursting with juice) and floral. Clean. Pretty on my skin for hours. Inoffensive but not boring. I don't think I want to smell this all the time, but it's definitely pretty.

    Cathedral

[note: I am brand-new to perfume as a hobby so my ability to distinguish smells is fairly undeveloped, and I don't have much to compare this to. That said...] I was really looking forward to this, because church is one of my favorite smells, and I was disappointed that I didn't love it more. The note I was able to distinguish was cedar, and this mostly seems to be competing ceder and too-strong-and-indistinct perfumey smell. The ceder starts fresh and mellows to warm, and I did get the sense of old-building, although more like a used bookstore or antique shop than a church -- I didn't get any incense. On me, it was best in the maybe 1-2 hour mark, warm and cedary; then the perfumey note kicked back in. I washed my wrists some and that helped soften the scent, which has still lasted forever -- it's been 12 hours and I definitely still have a distinct scent on my wrists. On my stuffed dragon, it smells like a cedar toybox. It's a better scent for her than me, I think.
