In the imp: I'm terrible with picking out different notes but all I get is fake cherry/strawberry smell. Bordering on cough syrup. Oh noooo. Wet: Thankfully it didn't go full out cough syrup, but still has that fake fruity edge that, though appropriate for the title of the blend, I don't know I particularly care for. Dry: The cherry/strawberry smell has faded and it's turned into a sort of warm floral-ish smell. For some reason, a bunch of oils I've tried have turned to borderline grandma perfume on me. This, unfortunately, is another one. I agree with Brianne...it smells OK on me, but I'm not wowed.

I got this as a frimp in my first ever order...an order than contained a bunch of things I ordered for other people Hahaha. I was interested in trying this for a while, though, so I wanted to try it first thing. In the bottle: I seriously almost dropped it because the scent hit me so hard. Dirt dirt dirt. And not a dry dirt smell...dark, wet earth that was verging on acrid. Wet: All I smell is the soil smell and I'm not a fan I have to agree with UberAlice...it smelled like I rolled in a mud puddle. Dry: The soil has eased up a wee bit. It's not as acrid as it was in the bottle or when it was wet. The rose peeks though but only a little...which surprises me because my skin seems to really amp up any rose scents. It's a dry rose, which is really interesting against the wet soil. It's a really interesting scent but it just doesn't work on me. Bugger.

    Ode on Melancholy

I'm new here so I apologize in advance for not being too familiar with the different notes and whatnot. I was wearing this today, though, and I felt inspired to do a review! In the bottle: A light floral blend. Very light! I can't pick out any of the specific notes but it does smell very white to me. Wet: It starts to bloom more when it's on my skin...it's a much fuller floral when wet. I think I catch a bit of the rose mentioned in the description. I'm not too familiar with my chemistry yet when it comes to BPAL but I've discovered my body seems to amp up the rose scents...sometimes for the worse. This, though is a lovely, soft rose scent. Dry: This smells almost exactly like the Philosophy scent Amazing Grace, which I am very familiar with (my aunt wears it all the time) and I absolutely LOVE. I know it's supposed to be a melancholy blend, to me it smells very bright and beautiful. Even though it doesn't have very much throw on me, I may make this one of my first 5 ml purchases.
