    Another round of SW questions

What a perfume based on me would smell like? Clay (dirt), sandalwood, metal, a drop of blood, lavendar and chamomile (our soap), and a touch of pop fizz. (I’m a ceramics major…) Who here likes Wizard of Oz things? The movie is ok, although I like Return to Oz better. The Wheelers and flying monkeys are so terrifyingly awesome! Do you often drink take away coffee in paper mugs? I don’t drink coffee, but I continue to buy bottles of water. Blood Moon update? Bought a bottle and decants of everything else. Am eyeing the volunteer shirt. Do you like Mystery Science Theater 3000? I used to watch it every Saturday morning on Sci-fi. I wish they’d bring it back. What will you like from Singapore? Candies? Food? Asian crafts/toys? Um…yeah!, yum!, maybe, and YES! What is everyone's "luck" item? I agree that ‘luck‘ shouldn‘t be focused on one item in case it‘s lost. Do you like art deco/nouveau - style prints? I like all art. What is one thing that, if you received it in the middle of all the hubbub, would make you smile and take your mind off of all you have to do for a bit? Something bright and cute. How do you decide what to put in which package for your Witchee or how many packages to send? I’m thinking about three packages, each with a loose theme. If you were my witchee, would you be terribly offended if I sent you a box containing project "experiments" or random miscellaneous pretty bits of brainstorming that I thought you might like/wear? Not at all. I love pretty bits. Are you in need of BPAL storage? My imps are desparately in need of a home where they can stand up. I already have a nice paper suitcase for my bottles. My thoughts on oreos? om nom nom nom nom nom BPTP room sprays: I have a decant of some of the Halloween scents coming soon. I’m curious about some of the others, but right now am using one from Bath and Body Works…cucumber melon. Would you like to recieve baked goods from your Witch? And if so, are there things you WOULDN'T like? I’m not too fond of cheese danishes. How does everyone feel about really green gifties? I was thinking of giving my witchee some of my handy-dandy "paper" towels (hand-sized, washable muslin squares--kinda like ultra-cheapo cloth napkins) in a kitchen-friendly decorative box, but I didn't want to seem preachy ("Stop using paper towels, you environment destroyer!"). Would y'all use something like that? I’m actually embarrassed by the amount of things I throw out: paper plates, paper towels, water bottles (I do recycle these, though), etc, so nothing like that would sound preachy. What craft (or crafts) have you been wanting to try but have no idea where to start? Even though I make jewelry, I’ve been wanting to get into the altered, mixed vintage, pile on the charms look. Or soldering pictures between microscope glass. Would you appreciate some tunes in future packages? And if so, do you care if you get any CDs or mp3s you might have all ready? Or would you be able to find a way to post a list of things you're (a) looking for, or ( b ) all ready have? Duplicates would be ok since pretty much all my cds are in my car. I’d rather have a mix though. Polish goodies! Who wants them? Baked goods, candies, kielbasa, pirogies, magazines, you name it? I don’t know anything about Polish food. How do you avoid popping an item for yourself into an order you're placing for your witchie? I have no will power, but I’d just have it sent to them. Underpants? Do you like them? What's your style? Size? I don’t take undies from strangers…lol. What is your favorite? What tea would you love to try but haven't because of price or difficulty to get? I’m determined to find that jasmine tea I had at that Chinese restaurant. Do you prefer gummy, soft candies or hard candies? Hard or taffy like. What sort of colors do you currently wear? Do you want to branch outside that? What would you like to try? Shirts: red, rust, orange, purple/orchid, teal, green. I seem to be drawn to orchid cause I have like five or six different tops in it. I try to keep white to a minimum since I seem to be a walking mess. I used to wear black all the time, but with the cats, it seems like I'm forever using a lint roller. About incense: do you like sticks or lose incense? Have you got one of those devices to burn lose incense over a bit of charcoal? I’m not into incense. What's everyone's favorite fairytale and what are your favorite versions of it? I like the original creepy versions of fairytales. Where the Wild Things Are and Tuesday are my two favorite kids books. So how many imps/decants is officially 'you have gone overboard and your Witchee is going to expire from scent overload'? There’s no such thing as scent overload. Who needs a recipe box? Not me. ANYONE ELSE want a home-made cookbook? I don’t really cook, but do like to bake. Speaking of historical fiction, how does everyone feel about Sherlock Holmes? Not much. Favorite cartoons or animated films? Cartoons: Animaniacs, Tom and Jerry, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Invader Zim, the Tick. Movies: The Aristocats, Fox and the Hound, pretty much anything that has talking animals in it. The Iron Giant is great and Princess Mononoke/Spirited Away. I was never into princesses. Your take on the election? In other words, would you enjoy campaign related gifts, or prefer to stay neutral? No thank you. Villians you sympathise with, or are interested in boinking? haha…I love me some villains. I always sympathize with the bad guy. Heath Ledger was all sorts of awesome as the Joker, and Slyer (Heroes) is… Your stance on the all important peanut butter issue: crunchy? creamy? allergic? chocolate? maple? go directly to nuttella, do not pass go? Peanut butter: anything but crunchy. And nutella is the best thing ever. Who here likes to read historical fiction? If you do, what eras/people/countries intrigue you the most? Not really.
  2. Where does everyone like shop for witching goodness? Well, this is my first go at witching, but I’ve done so many other swaps. Etsy, craft stores, Magical Omaha, the Soap Box Co., and bookstores. What is your favorite pumpkin goodness? Pie, bread, muffins, ice cream, candies. Ok, everything except beer. What's your favorite part about Fall? Seriously, the fact that it will soon be Halloween. The end of heat waves and leaves changing color. And how can I forget about scarves, hats, and mittens!!! Do you like office/school supplies? If so, what is your favorites? Even though I’m in college now, I still freak out a little bit at the beginning of each semester. The thought of ’school’ supply shopping makes me so excited. I love little notebooks, gel pens, crayons, sharpies…oh my… What's your favorite Halloween candy? Candy corn and Mary Janes. Will you be participating NaNoWriMo? If so, is there anything you'd like to have for that? Someday I will, but not this year. Are you right or left-handed? Right Any period of time that you love? Victorian and the 40s. I’m in with steam punk, too, if it counts. What is your favorite crafting supply? I love making jewelry and chain mail, so chains of any size, jump rings (silver or colors), funky beads, vintage buttons, and charms. Silver, brass, and copper - all antiqued, resin, and plastic are my favorites. I also knit, crochet, and spin, so yarn or roving is always great. I go through black snap on safety eyes like crazy. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle? I’m all over that. Since all the good thrift stores near me have closed, I’m having some serious cravings. Tattoos! Do you have em? Do you want em? Whatcha got or getting? I would love to get some, but in the end I’d be completely covered seeing that my interests change all the time. I’m definitely set on some kind of Alice in Wonderland tat. Either the Cheshire cat, Tea Party scene, or White Rabbit. And Gir…there has to be an Invader Zim one somewhere. Halloween scents? what ones are people loving? craving? have tried, want to try? , etc... or any Halloween-ish or autumn scents from other sites your dying for?? I have decants of half of the Halloween/Sleepy Hollow scents, plus bottles of Graveyard Dirt and Sticky Pillowcase pending. Those two bottles were the only ones that really called to me. I’m all over the sweets and ’nature’ (dirt, moss, wood) scents of this season, but not so much the burning leaves or spiciness notes. What is one item that you've wanted forever, could have afforded, but have never gotten and why (haven't you gotten it!)? The Old Hare Clock from Victorian Trading Co. I totally have the money, but there’s always something more practical to use it on. Who here prefers stylus and ink to ballpoint? I‘ve never used a stylus/ink pot, but have thought about trying it. Then I think about how nosey my cats are and the huge mess I’d probably make. I love me some brightly colored gel pens with the ergonomic finger grip thingies, though. Anyone invested time and effort into calligraphy or proper Victorian writing? In high school my art teacher had us learn calligraphy, using a marker not a stylus. I got really good, but stopped when I finished the assignment. Sometimes I wish I kept it up. What about stationery? Need some? What styles do you like? I’m more into postcards/note cards. Funny, vintage, scenic, etc. Although cutsie Japanese character stationary is always fun! How do people feel about receiving baked goods/kits to make said goods? Or other cooking items? Would you enjoy oil or vinegar flavored with herbs grown at home? Strange and exotic spices with recipes to try? Cookies made with carnation petals? Baked goodies and recipes are welcome. I don’t do much cooking, so oil, vinegar, and spices wouldn’t make much sense. Cookies made with carnation petals?!! Wooooah. What are your pet's names, and what are they named for? Cali (Lali, Nugget) is my mom’s cat named that because she’s a calico. Rufus (The Boy) is a Russian Blue mix named that because I just liked the name. Gizmo (Gizzy) is a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix named that because her coloring resembles that of the character. Who here is a complete, over the top, Alice In Wonderland fanatic? Completely in love with it. The movie is ok, but I like the old illustrations better. White rabbit, Cheshire cat, and the whole tea party are my favorite characters. Are you a Trekkie? If so, which series do you prefer? Do you have a favorite character? Never watched it. Do you have phobias? Clowns give me the heebie-jeebies. And the sound of Styrofoam rubbing together makes me nauseous. Speaking in public, too. How do you like your mix CDs? Random? Stuff you know you'll like? Random. I love new music. Would you rather get food or jewellery? Jewelry Do you like children's toys, such as jacks, those little things you tilt around to get the ball in the right hold (wtf are those called?), the aforementioned caplet dinosaurs, cap guns, etc?: I luff stickers. And little plastic figures (dinosaurs!) or stuffed animals English candy/tea/marmite or other stuff that you love and can't easily get outside of England? Kinder Eggs. Didn’t they ban the ones with toys in them over here? Fanfic as a gift* - yay or nay? Your fandom? Slash preferences?*well, a virtual gift obviously. You know what I mean. My fandoms are Good Omens and a lot of musicians…it’s not my fault that most of the bands I listen to are easy to slash! >.< Any beaders here? Need beading supplies? Yes and I answered that in the craft supply question. Do you like making up your SW packages around a theme, or prefer to mix it all up? The only swaps I’ve ever done are based on themes, but this time it depends on their answers. If there’s enough to center around a theme, sure. Band-aids: do you like the fun and funky ones? I am constantly getting hurt and use all different types of funky band-aids. Right now I have a Dora the Explorer one on. What's the scariest thing that's ever happened to you? I had a panic attack when I was by myself at a store. What is everyone's favorite Halloween song?! Halloween by the Misfits (and the cover by AFI). Monster Mash is fun too. How many of mah fellow witchies play video games? Platform? Do you like used games? My favorite platform of all time was the original Nintendo. Duck Hunter and Dr. Mario are my favorites. But I do like computer games - Zuma, Collapse, The Sims. What kind of music (genres, please) do you like? Rock, classics, old country, alternative, indie-ish, electro, dance, punk, some hardcore. I really don’t know how to define a lot of what I listen to. Have any of you ever received a book from a Witchy and loved it so much you ended up buying a copy for a later Witchee? I don’t think I’ve even received a book in a swap, but I do like gifting my favorites. What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? Sparkley - not frosted or glitter chunks - bright colored/neutrals. Urban Decay or Archetype. (Unfortunately Archetype’s TAT and CS are both crappy) Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? Lip balm is an essential. Nude, berry, or sheer red tint, or just plain are both good. I don’t use major brands - Blistex, Chapstick, etc. because they either don’t work well enough or burn. I’m now addicted to mylipstuff.com thanks to the SW thread. Oh, and I only like it in tubes. What are some of the SW gifts/finds from past rounds (or you can just name a gift in general that you found for someone if this is your first round!) that you are the most proud of in terms of your sleuthing skills? A friend of mine likes stuff that ’really shouldn’t exist’, and I found her a clutch in the shape of a hot dog - with all the fixings (and sequins!). And, secondly, what is something you've been searching for but just can't find? I’ve been looking for a 'I <Godzilla> Tokyo' shirt. Do you knit/crochet? Do you need any supplies? I do both. Notions are always needed - stitch markers (split and regular), tape measures, bobbins, row counters, small scissors. I’ve just learned knitting socks on two circulars. Who here has an etsy shop? Not anymore. What are your two favorite etsy shops? Knit Front and Back, and Pinky Noodles Are you active on any other boards/forums? If so please specify where and your username there. What is one (only one) object that you collect, that totally goes against your personality or beliefs? Hmmm…it’s not really a collection, but I’m interested in taxidermy. I kind of want a jack-alope, but think it would freak me out. Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? I can’t use bar soaps or gels, but I am a body wash addict. Tactile - walking barefoot outside, clean sheets, animal fur. I’m a very tactile person. If you could bring back any TV show from cancellation what would it be? The Golden Girls, Animaniacs, X-Files, Stark Raving Mad, Buffy, Rugrats, Special Unit 2, Six Feet Under, and Invader Zim. I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? Yes. I live in an old house and it gets quite cold. What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. The one that mixes cookie dough and brownie chunks. Or Nutella. Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? Probably not. The only money I have is going towards my witchee. And school…I kinda need to pay for that. Although, if a good LE or Lunacy is released, I may join a circle. Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? No more wrist watches for me. I’m usually wrist deep in clay, so I use clip-ons now. How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? Sureallism, abstracts, pinhole photography, experimental photography. Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I have cases for both, but the one for my camera case is a bit too clunky and the one for my mp3 player is all leather…ew. My camera is a Canon Powershot A630 and my mp3 player is a Creative Zen Micro. For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? No tea for me. Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? It gets downright cold here. Anything warm and cuddly (and even a bit strange) is very useable. I really get a lot of use out of fingerless gloves. One of my classes this semester is held in a room with never ending AC. Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? No one. I’ve been more of a lurker up until a few months ago. My questionnaire is chock-a-block with ideas for Witching me on the cheap, and without sending "stuff for stuff's sake". And I just came up with another one--make me a Pandora, Finetune, or Last.fm station you think I might like! What manner of affordable Witchery might you covet? I never really listen to music on my comp. Handmade stuff, mixed cds, thrift store/antique goodness, leftover balls of yarn, hair clips/no-pull rubber bands, fun little toys to put in my car, I love the dollar sections at Michaels. Does your cell phone have a place to attach charms? It does. If you drink coffee (and make it yourself) do you use a French Press, regular filter basket coffee maker, Espresso Machine, Percolator? No coffee for me either. What movie soundtracks (or scores) do you love? Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sweeney Todd, Nightmare Before Christmas. It's a bit strange, cause I'm really not a musical type of person. Earrings? I have weird metal allergies in my lobes, but I wear studs and small hoops in my two cartilage piercing. Song on repeat? Smashing Pumpkins - 33 Coffee/tea/drinks with 3 people: Hugh Laurie, Neil Gaiman, Eddie Izzard What are some perfume companies besides bpal that you are curious about? Which have you already tried and know that you dislike? Curious about: Droplettes, Conjure Oils, Woobie. Arcana scents tend to work on me very well. I have enough Possets to know to be very picky about what I try. I’ve tried and can’t really see myself buying more Nocturne Alchemy - they use a lot of bad notes.
  3. For witches who love Halloween and decorate for it, when do you start and when do you take it down? (Because your Witchy will need to make timing decisions!) I usually start early and take it down late, so all of October is game. I still have bat clings in my car windows from years ago. So, now I've gotta ask -- Does anyone have an iguana? Would he or she wear a sweater? (or an itty bitty kilt?) No, but I’d love to see a picture of one! Vanilla Creme Kisses? Yum What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? Well, I’ve been collecting as much Black Lace as I can. I only have 1.5 imps so far. And Glowing Vulva. I’m kicking myself for not buying that when I could. What's your favorite animal? Cats and dogs of all sizes, alpacas, llamas, goats, owls, squid, and octopi. I also love the animals that don’t get much lovin’: sloths, giant-eyed nocturnal critters, praying mantises, platypuses, narwhals, and those deep sea fish that have the little 'light' dangling in front of their mouths. How do you feel about burned copies of cd's or dvd's that your witch might have that you might enjoy? Burn away! How many of ya'll have tried Alternative Breeding tarts? Do you like 'em? What is your favorite scent if you have? What ones mightyou want to try? What *are* your favorite tart scents (if you are a tart... uh... person... uhm)? If you don't do tarts (uhm...), would you be interested in becoming a tart person? Why are you guys such enablers?! I’m not generally a tart/oil/candle/anything that burns person, but some of those scents sound delish. I’ve started dabbing oils on my light bulbs. Not sure how safe it is, but it smells good… Question, question (if asked before, please disregard!) I have to say, i finally tried the vosages chocolate with bacon and it's less exciting than i thought it would be. However, the chocolate with the chilis is teh yum! I'm wondering if my witchee would like to try these types of things (like the caramel with sea salts or chocolates with chilis/bacon/salt etc.)? I’m always up to trying new things…even bacony chocolate. It’s intriguing. Say, witches, I have a question about birthdays. do you expect/rely on other people to plans birthday outings and activities? If I happen to do anything for my birthday it’s going to a friend’s house in Chicago to go bar hopping. But, really, I just like to be lazy. Dealing with treats? If there’s a bag of goodies (even if they’re cheap ones), I’ll most likely binge. I love it when I get just a few little candies with swaps or decant circles. That’s how I became addicted to Japanese sweets. Ringtone? I have the Super Mario Bros. Theme song, the Invader Zim theme song, and the ‘Kidnap the Sandy Claws’ song from Nightmare Before Christmas. I just bought ‘Shut Me Up’ by Mindless Self Indulgence. That’s the one I’m using now. What do you think about receiving tea accessories and/or miscellany (like mugs, cups, saucers, strainers/filters, honey, natural sweeteners [like stevia])? I realize that I keep saying I don’t drink tea, but I just remembered this amazing jasmine tea we had at a Chinese restaurant once. Of course I put enough sugar in it to put myself into a coma. I don't think that answered the question... Munsters or Addams Family? Addams Family. I was never able to get into the Munsters. If you have pets, is there a SPECIFIC toy they like to play with; brand and size? Is there a treat/cookie they eat? What brand and size? Our female cat loves anything on a stick that you wave around and she will eat just about anything you put in front of her. On the other hand, the boy is very picky about toys and treats. Sometimes he goes for the catnip bubbles and crinkle balls, but mostly his favorite toy is whatever I happen to be knitting at the moment. The only thing besides his food he likes is chicken lunch meat. Our puppy loves her red loofah dog and anything squeaky/crinkley. She loves Greenies in the Teenie size (teenie greenies haha) and Zuke’s Mini Naturals in peanut butter. I’ve been looking into making her some treats too. What makes you stand out from the rest of the switchwitch herd? I guess one of the very few here that have never tried anything LUSH. I'm also great at mimicry. Legwarmers? Armwarmers? Legwarmers - not so much. Arm warmers - yes, please! What is your favorite category of the GC? Mad Tea Party and I'm sure when I try them, Steamworks. If you are into the original Nintendo system, what 3 games would you want that you don't have? I’m not sure what I have, but my favorite games were always puzzle types (like Yoshi or Dr. Mario). Actually, I don’t think I have Super Mario Bros. 2, so that. Stance on Joss Whedon and his enterprises? I loved Buffy, was into Angel for a while, but have never watched Firefly. Has anyone tried ice wine before? Do/did they enjoy it? I’m not much of a wine drinker, but I had to Wiki it, and it does sound interesting. What other perfume companies (besides bpal) have you been curious about? Woobie (have I mentioned them enough yet?), Droplettes, MoonaLisa, Cobalt Blends, Conjure Oils, Sidhe Creations. Does anyone here do anything with grave rubbings? It’s on my list of things to try. Would you enjoy art based on original Graveyard photography? I do graveyard photography myself, and would love other people’s art based on it. What's in your Netflix or Blockbuster queue, do you want any new Netflix/Blockbuster friends, if so how do we find you on there? I have Netflix. My queue. Do you play a musical instrument? Eight years of the flute. What do you think of Irrelevant Disturbing and Surreal Crawdad Dream? Love it? Hate it? Kicking yourself for not getting a bottle? I have a bottle and am kind of on the edge about it. I like the blueberries in Blue Fire, but these seem to be too real. How do you feel about trinkets? You know - tiny toys or doodads that serve no purpose than to be cute, take up space and make us smile. Love them or waste of money? Love them. I'm always able to find more space for cute little things. Can melty things be shipped to you, or will they be in puddles by the time you open the package? I think the hot weather is over, so yeah. Might be a good idea, though to wrap them separately. Who likes pirates? Me! What are your feelings about Dia De Los Muertos? I love the idea, decorations, and the colors...and sugar skulls! What do you think about the Nightmare Before Christmas? It’s one of my favorite movies! Tim Burton is a genius! If candy is sent, would you prefer small amounts to a Halloween sized bag? Small amounts of different kinds. How do you feel about Hello Kitty? Sanrio is the one thing that I’ve loved all my life. Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Chococat, etc. How do y'all feel about honey and maple? And different flavored honey, not just the standard kind? Sure! What is your favorite thing to do on a cool fall day? I have to be outside! Walking through a forest preserve, going to cemetaries. Fall is the best time to take pictures.

    Aziraphale

This scent is perfectly Aziraphale. Light musk and sandalwood that dries down to a dusty book note. It's very clean and airy, and stays close to the skin with little throw. Just what I'd imagine an empty, ancient little bookshop would smell like. This is definitely among my top favorites now and totally warrants a bottle or two.
  5. DogNPonyShow

    Crowley

I really didn't think I'd like this at all, but had to try it...because, duh, it's Crowley. In the vial, it was all spicy, musky, sweetness. It's not in the notes, but I swear I smell wine. On, everything sticks around and leather shows up. This really reminds me of Midnight Kiss. The throw is huge and it stays forever (I can still detect it and I applied it about six hours ago). Towards the end, it goes a little powdery, but it's a short phase. There is no way that this scent should have ever worked on me - with the dark musk, patchouli, leather, non foody vanilla...but this is great! Tomorrow I'm going to try it in a locket or my hair.
  6. DogNPonyShow

    Asp Viper (2006)

I get pure almond in the vial. On, it's almond and a bit of sweetness. This is actually a nice scent, but I'm not sure if I'd wear it too often.

    Saw-Scaled Viper

I got no Snake Oil in this one at all. Just eye-watering spicyness. It's funny that I wanted to try this one, seeing that it's a very rare day when any of these notes agree with me, but I'm always looking. On, this was delicious cinnamon gum...until my arm got all red, prickly, and itchy. My search continues...

    Banded Sea Snake (2006)

In the vial it's powdery and medicinal. On, it's the same and stayed that way until I ran to the bathroom to wash it off.

    Tiresias, the Androgyne

In the vial: A caramel cookie. On: The cookie lingers for all of five seconds before turning into a bitter tobacco with something sharp in the background. I'm going to assume it's cinnamon, which tends to hate me. The caramel stays around very faintly, but it's very dark. Verdict: I belive the scent captures the character very well, but it's way too strong for me.

    Sunrise With Sea-Monsters

In the vial: Slightly salty air, a hint of light florals, and pear. On: This is exactly what I'd imagine sea spray to smell like. Clean and very calming. There are a few notes in this that I need to look up, but I'm sure I'm not getting any of them -- the freesia, pear, and seafoam stay strong throughout and don't fade. Verdict: This is a lovely scent. Perfect for summer and would be great in an oil burner.

    Faiza, the Black Mamba (2006)

In the vial: A woodsy musk. Green with a bit of hidden sweetness. On: Bitter orange powder...that would be the vanilla... On deep inhales I get a great burning wood note, but the powder sticks around. Sadly this is one of the few scents with citrus that agrees with me.

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

In the bottle: Pure mint. On: Minty vanilla with something else in the background. At first I thought it was chocolate, but then (with many deep inhales) realized it was coffee. Huh? But it seemed to warm the scent up a bit. Verdict: This was a bit of a gamble for me. Mint notes tend to overpower everything else, while vanilla always goes powdery. They must balance each other out here, so this is great!

    Bilquis

In the bottle: Non foody almond with apple hiding out in the background. I can only smell the apple if I inhale deeply. On: The apple becomes more pronounced, but is still in the back. Almond and myrrh are way too strong and bitter. After a while, musk shows up and the whole thing turns into powder. Verdict: This isn't for me.

    Snake Oil

I know that non-foody vanillas always go musty and powdery on me, but I wanted to just try this. It smells fine in the vial. Once on, though, the spices are too heavy and the powdered vanilla made me sick. After showering I was left with a nice soft spicey vanilla. I wish that's how the entire scent was.

    The Pit & The Pendulum

In the vial: Pure cologne. Very strong. On: Kind of heavy while wet. Lightens up upon drydown. This reminds me of the temples I visited when I was younger. A nice everyday scent with a faint note of vanilla. Verdict: Definitely a keeper. Lasts for ages and has a fairly good throw.
