    Sugared incense

Hmm, looks like you've already tried Morocco... have you tried Urd? Muscadine, black and red patchouli, cereus and nag champa. This is a sweet incense blend on me. A bit grapey, if you don't mind that. It's one of the first things that came to mind.

    Masculine but Sweet?

One of my first thoughts as soon as I read the title of the post without reading further was Bow and Crown of Conquest. It's almost exactly like Crowley to me, which dries down to a sweet, woody vanilla. For me, as a girl, it's a tad masculine, but not too much like cologne that I can't pull it off. Another scent I'd look at would be Paladin. Immaculate white musk, sweet frankincense, bourbon vanilla, white leather, and shining armor. This one was very masculine on me, but with that sweet vanilla. The leather wasn't very dominant on me, or much of the 'shining armor' note. If you were going to get an imp pack to try a few scents, I'd definitely put in Bow and Crown of Conquest and Paladin.

    Gobo

I'm getting the same sort of 'creamsicle' smell that other folks have mentioned, but I'm also getting a soapy 'aftertaste' in the back of my throat. I wanted to love this so much, but I just can't get past the dishsoapiness. Maybe it's something with the cream note? I've never had a problem with the citrus notes before. (Edited for spelling.)

Tried Carnival Wax? BPAL suggestions needed!

Hmm... Elegba, Fenris Wolf, Scherezade, and Eclipse would be my General Catalogue picks for you to take a peek at. I'd also saw Crowley, but that is un-impable.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I know it's just starting to warm up again so most of you probably aren't thinking about this anymore, but I have to ask: If you're wearing a jacket or long sleeves, do you still apply to your wrists? Where do you apply for cold-weather months when most of your body is getting buried under layers? It's freezing in my office so even though it's in the 80s outside I'm bundled in a jacket inside.

    Cinnamon girl...

I'm definitely not the most well-versed BPALer, being still new to everything, but the first thing I thought of was Eclipse. The notes are "A delicious blend of bitter almond, vanilla, frankincense and heliotrope, with a drop of cinnamon." I know it says that it's only a drop of cinnamon, but on me this is definitely a sweet cinnamon-vanilla scent. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say french toast though... but if you have a neglected imp of it laying around, or you're contemplating a new order, I'd give it a try.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

OKAY! I got my order in, and I had to try out this combo first thing after sorting through everything. I might need to go a little lighter on Wanda, but this combo definitely works for me. <3 To me, Wanda doesn't have a very strong wine scent, but it does have a certain sweetness that I like (I could definitely wear this solo) and it is a good side smell to Fighter. I tested Fighter solo first, and really at first whiff I knew this was a good choice. You've got fresh leather in the forefront with a slight crispness of steel. I couldn't smell the musk individually, but I got the impression that it was helping meld the scent. Fenris Wolf isn't Fenris to me, but Fighter with a dab of Wanda definitely is!

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

Oh, that's a good point. I do recall folks talking about putting on lotion first. I'll give that a try too.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I didn't want to start a new topic. I tend to put on my oils right before I leave the house to go to work, and on the backs of my hands/wrists and neck. The last couple days I think I've noticed that the oil on my hands and wrists seems to be fading quickly, but I can still smell what seems to be the oil from my neck. Is my air conditioning in my car drying it out too quickly and causing it to fade? Maybe I should put the oil on earlier before I leave so it has the chance to dry on its own? Any help would be appreciated.

    Water Dragon

I wanted to throw my opinion in here because I love Water Dragon and I feel like it wasn't getting enough love here. Initially in the bottle and wet on my skin it smells terrible. There's something of an aftertaste in the back of my throat which is something almost medicinal and chemical in nature. But once it dries, ooh, it's juicy fruits and exotic flowers on my skin.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

I love that suggestion for Fenris (and also heartily approve of your icon) Do tell how it works out! Fighter was far too heavy on the leather and blood for me, so I wonder if Wanda could smooth it out... Ok, I want to try my hand! Female Hawke: (obviously differs, but) Celeste It's slightly sweet and rather a little bit strange. Isabella: Banned in Boston - Obscene, lewd, lascivious, and decidedly objectionable. A filthy, post-coitus scent: sweaty and sweet, laced with laudanum, splashed with booze, and stained by tobacco. Calico Jack - Sea air, driftwood, waterlogged kelp, and the memory of plundered spices sprayed over worn leathers, rough musk, and the salty wooden floorboards of the Revenge. Anders: Oh my god, the sexy revolutionary smells like El Nuevo Puritano wtf. But it's true. Unmoving, rigid oak, dry leather, tonka, gunpowder tea, and pious olibanum with a core of perverse and furtive vanilla bean, bay leaf, clove bud, and lime. It's a leather and clove-vanilla that's pretty masculine and a teeny bit medicinal, like the afterthought of herbs I imagine Anders smells like. He's my favorite character of all time; I really wish I could have found a differently named scent for him Maybe a dash of Cockaigne for idealism? Fenris: I'd have to also go with Fenris Wolf, but also Dracul because the dash of mint seems particularly Fenris-y. Why? Sebastian: Neutral (hillariously) because it smelled like cat poop on me Ok, fine, Cathedral was an awesome suggestion, but I'll throw out Lawful Evil Aureus (it's lighter) - True, perfect golden light, refined into an incomparably glorious scent See, I can be generous. Merril: High Strung Daisies (see what I did there?!) - Daisy, pink carnation, pink pepper, and sugar. Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat - A sparkly, batty little scent: green tea, melon, mint, lime rind, and champagne grape with lemon balm, mullein, and toadflax. Varric: Highwayman - the poem on the website is particularly Varicky. If only I could find something that did his gorgeous fur chest hair justice. Vetiver with gardenia, blood red rose, night-blooming jasmine, a dash of cinnamon and a faint hint of leather. Carver, Bethany & Aveline I haven't found scents for. I ordered imps of Fighter and Wanda yesterday when I placed my order for Frederick, so I'll definitely let you know how it turns out! I love your choices for Isabella, and High Strung Daisies (I see what you did there!) for Merrill. Varric definitely needs a hint of fur in his scent. I honestly haven't thought about Anders, because I'm afraid I loathe him. After watching a YouTube video of what he says if you turn Fenris over to Denarius... and his comments to Aveline about her DEAD Templar husband... I just can't. I feel like Aveline would have that same hint of Fighter, but layered with something feminine. Something dry and herbal, but with a touch of floral. ETA: The minty freshness of glowing Lyrium?

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

I know I saw a few people talking about Dragon Age 2 characters earlier, but I just wanted to add a quick comment here because I'm trying to make the perfect Fenris scent. Of course I ordered an Imp of Fenris Wolf right off the bat. It's a wonderful scent, but it didn't make me think of Fenris at all. I'm going to try layering two scents together: Fighter Leather, musk, blood, and steel. Wanda Deep red merlot with a faint hint of leather, sexual musk and body heat over crushed roses, violets and myrtle. I really wanted the wine note from Wanda, along with the added leather and musk. I'm not sure how the florals are going to work, but from reviews that I've read it sounds like Wanda is strong wine and leather on some people which are the two I'm really rooting for. This might not be everyday Fenris, but a Fenris after a few drinks and some time with female Hawke.
