    Independent

After reading the early reviews, I was hoping that this would be the imp I received, and luckily, it was. I agree with the previous reviewers who said this smells like fizzy lemon soda. It reminds me a lot of Demeter's Ginger Ale, but much more citrusy and much more throw. I ADORE this scent and I don't know how I'm going to live knowing I only have an imp of it!

    Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener

This is FABULOUS. Creamy yummy rootbeer. I wish it stayed on my skin longer - I guess I'll have to buy a bottle so I can slather repeatedly! edited to add: PLEASE make a soap of this! It would be so refreshing for summertime.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

I had a similar problem with both orders I tried to place today, I got emails saying my cards were declined. which is ridiculous, and my bank/cc company both told me the charges should have gone through with no problems. So I just copied the bottles I wanted into a paypal order, and used the same total from the ccnow order. but still really annoyed. I'm glad to know it wasn't just me! Stinks for both of us though, sorry to hear you had the same problem. Paypal here I come!

    CCNow Questions & Problems

CC Now are jerks. I placed my leap year order today and a few hours later I got an email from them saying my order was cancelled because I used a stolen credit card!!!! I used my credit card I use every day and it is definitely not stolen. I checked my bank account and there is no problem. Has this ever happened to anyone? I guess I'll have to redo the order with Paypal. Jerks.

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

I think I might be one of the few people that this one didn't work for. In the bottle, I smelled the Thin Mints like everyone else. The predominant smell was that same burnt cakey smell that I've noticed in Jack and Pumpkin Queen and the mint and vanilla took a backseat. It was the same when I put it on. I like the burnt cakey note in Jack because I consider that a fall scent, but I really wanted more sharp vanilla mint creaminess from this one so I could wear it as my summer scent. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be able to find a new home for the beast

    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

DCCXCI (791) In the bottle, this is a clean scent. I detect a creamy citrus, perhaps some aloe, and sweet pea. It reminds me a bit of the smell of a bag of Brach's easter jellybeans. On the skin, it is very fresh. The citrus is a soft citrus, not bitter or harsh. As it dries down, the citrus fades and the sweet pea comes forward to become the dominant scent. It's lovely, and would suit someone well who likes a clean, soft floral scent. I'm not sure if I am that person, so this will most likely make its way to swaps.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Can anyone tell me if the revisited Carnaval scents have the same labels as last time? Just curious!

    Samhain

In the bottle: Apples, mulling spices, and a hint of smoke. Wet: A bit of a pine forest smell joins the spicy smoky apples, adding a nice balance to the scent. Drydown: The scent becomes more mellow, and the patchouli makes an appearance. The pine does not go to powder on me, which is very rare indeed. The apple spice remains the primary note. Verdict: I read about the fragrance on LJ, and I bought a bottle of it without ever having tried any BPAL before. It was an excellent first purchase and intro to BPAL, and I have been hooked ever since. This truly is the essence of fall, as noted in the official description, and one of my top 3 BPAL oils.

    Pink Phoenix

In the bottle: Fresh strawberries and a touch of vanilla. Wet: The strawberry goes back and forth between smelling totally fresh and totally synthetic. The vanilla adds a nice creamy balance. Drydown: It becomes a soft, powdery, creamy strawberry. This oil doesn’t have much throw though. Verdict: This is probably the most “girly” BPAL oil I have tried, and I do like it. Honestly, the main reason I purchased it was for the fact that other reviewers alluded to the fact that it smells like a Strawberry Shortcake doll’s scented vinyl head, and I was looking for that nostalgic scent fix. It will be a fun summer scent to rotate with my Dorian.

    Snake Oil

In the bottle: This one is hard to describe. It’s a medicinal/spicy/creamy scent. I can’t pick out any individual notes. Wet: The sweetness of the vanilla comes to the front, but does not overpower the spicy quality of the oil. There is still a faint medicinal quality which I find very appealing. Drydown: The oil becomes more delicious as it interacts with my skin chemistry. It has great throw throughout the day. This is fabulous. Verdict: One of my top 3 scents. I love the medicinal vanilla sweetness. I feel like a BPAL ambassador when I wear it, because it’s the one scent that people ask me about. I’m always glad to reveal my source!

    The Lion

In the bottle: Pure amber resin. Wet: The scent of amber resin rubbed directly onto the skin mixed with exotic spices and the slightest hint of brown sugar. Drydown: The amber becomes soft and warm with the spices and sugar blending together into a very pleasing scent. It is comforting and alluring at the same time. Verdict: This is one of the first BPAL oils I ever sampled, and the second 5 ml bottle I ever purchased. It’s a wonderful scent that smells just as nice on me as it does my husband. It’s the perfect scent for wearing on warm August nights, when summer is thinking about turning into fall.

    Dorian

In the bottle: Sugary lemon cookies with a thick vanilla glaze. Wet: Just as delicious smelling as it was in the bottle. I cannot stop sniffing this intoxicating scent! Drydown: This is one of the few BPAL oils that is just as potent 8 hours later as when I first applied it. And that is a good thing, because this scent is one of my top 3 favorites. Verdict: I purchased a bottle almost immediately after sampling my first imp of Dorian. This will be my signature summer scent. One of the best BPAL oils I have ever tested.

    Baku

In the imp: Lavender and anise. Wet: Mostly lavender, but I can smell the anise floating lightly underneath. Drydown: The anise comes to the forefront and the lavender remains a soft accent. Verdict: I love lavender essential oil and the lavender in this blend is very similar. The combo of the anise and lavender reminds me of the candy-coated fennel seeds served as an after-dinner treat at Indian restaurants. I can see how this scent would promote a good-night's sleep. Perhaps I will purchase a bottle for that purpose once I use up my bedside bottle of lavender EO.

    Tamora

In the imp: Fresh, juicy peach with a hint of amber and vanilla. Wet: Luckily, the same as in the imp. Although I don't think the peach is supposed to be the primary note in this, it comes to the front on my skin. I'm not complaining! Drydown: Hours later, I still smell the warm peachy/vanilla/amber. My husband, however, told me I smell like Play-doh? Verdict: Tamora is definitely the spring counterpart to Jack, and I like the way the peach in both of them works on my skin. I was planning to get a bottle but since the Play-doh comment from my husband, I'm not so sure.
