  1. I still have no idea. "Dee" actually reminds me a lot of Snape, so I may wear that. Or, to completely embody JKR's idea of perfection, and the protection Harry has always enjoyed - "Blinding Glory of Love."
  2. I'm actually clueless as what, and if, I'll be dressing up. Very tempted to go as a Mary-Sue (at which point, something akin to Pink Phoenix will have to be worn.) If I go as my usual Millicent Bulstrode, I'm thinking something tough, and with leather. DeSade hates my skin, but perhaps Quincy Morris?
  3. The new GC scent, Frumious Bandersnatch, is slightly candyish. Smells like plummy, spicy bubblegum. I second Jester and Black Lotus.

    Peony Moon

The year is ended, and it only adds to my age; Spring has come, but I must take leave of my home. Alas, that the trees in this eastern garden, Without me, will still bear flowers. Peony, plum blossom, water reeds and soft Asian woods. Open bottle: Nothing. Can't smell anything coming from the bottle. To the point where I looked, to make sure that there was something in there. On, wet: Hello, peony! This oil absolutely blossoms on my skin. It is a thick, lush, wet peony field that I'm rolling around in. On, 5 minutes: Much softer, though the peony is still strong. The plum blossom is sneaking its way in, as well as what I think are the reeds, because I'm not getting any woods yet. The signature lunar oils are also playing merry hob with my brain. On, half an hour: Lush, floral scent. The reeds are what is softening this. It now feels like I'm in a peony field, at midnight. You can practically hear the reeds in the distance. Overall: Lush, is the only way to really describe the type of peony this is. Juicy peony, with a small trail of plum blossom and reeds. I'm not getting the woods yet, but hopefully they'll come out to play soon. This is an incredibly sexy scent, as well. I feel luxurious while wearing it. Throw: I'd give it a three. about 8 inches from my wrist, and I can smell it. Right against the wrist, is overwhelming. Score: 4/5. This scent is beautiful. I wish I had ordered a second bottle. The only thing keeping me from the 5/5 is the fact that the lunar note tends to give me a headache. Yes, I'll wear this scent anyway. Edited to add full description. --Shollin

    Eau D'Issey

That was my favorite perfume as well. While these don't have the exact same notes, I've found that I enjoy The Unicorn, Evening Star, and La Belle Au Bois Dormant.

    Bravery, Courage, Confidence, Intimidation, Power

I second Fenris Wolf. Man, that is one powerful scent. Also, try All Night Long. That scent will keep your man permanently glued to your luscious self. And what can be better than that? For a scary "omfgwtfimsoscaredhideme" scent, try Depraved. I almost wet myself with fear when smelling that!

    Ode on Melancholy

No, no, go not to Lethe, neither twist Wolf's-bane, tight-rooted, for its poisonous wine; Nor suffer thy pale forehead to be kiss'd By nightshade, ruby grape of Proserpine; Make not your rosary of yew-berries, Nor let the beetle, nor the death-moth be Your mournful Psyche, nor the downy owl A partner in your sorrow's mysteries; For shade to shade will come too drowsily, And drown the wakeful anguish of the soul. But when the melancholy fit shall fall Sudden from heaven like a weeping cloud, That fosters the droop-headed flowers all, And hides the green hill in an April shroud; Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose, Or on the rainbow of the salt sand-wave, Or on the wealth of globed peonies; Or if thy mistress some rich anger shows, Emprison her soft hand, and let her rave, And feed deep, deep upon her peerless eyes. She dwells with Beauty -- Beauty that must die; And Joy, whose hand is ever at his lips Bidding adieu; and aching Pleasure nigh, Turning to poison while the bee-mouth sips: Ay, in the very temple of Delight Veil'd Melancholy has her sovran shrine, Though seen of none save him whose strenuous tongue Can burst Joy's grape against his palate fine; His soul shalt taste the sadness of her might, And be among her cloudy trophies hung. Beauty, joy, pleasure and delight: devastated. This is the scent of the hopelessness, torment and despair of love. Lavender and wisteria, heart-wrenching pale rose, desolate white sandalwood and thin, tear-streaked white musk. Sniff: Wisteria, rose, and white sandalwood right off the bat. Lavender is lurking in the background. On wet: Lavender, sandalwood, and white musk. Chillingly beautiful. Comforting in it's sadness. A bit soapy, but more what you *wish* your soap could smell like. The lavender gives it a slightly spiciness that gives the rose and musk some spine. The wisteria is a lovely note that peeks its head out. Drydown: Wisteria, rose, and white musk. I don't sense the sandalwood coming out all that strongly. If it wasn't in the description, I would never guess that it was in here. Overall: Beautiful, light, airy, and sad scent. Just want to sit down, close my eyes, and wallow in it. Not strong, and definitely not something to get your sexpot on with. But this is a soothing, calming, and charming. Throw: Not a lot. Would have to slather it on. Rating (1-5, 5 being the highest): 4.5. I keep wanting to sniff my wrists. P.S. First review is HARD!

    Sed Non Satiata

So excited about this scent: Bottle: orange-y oil. Like apricot jam. Sniff: The honey and the musk jump right out at me. Deliciously languid. Like your nuzzling your lover post-coitus. Wet: The cognac peeks its head out. 5 Minute Mark: Geranium is saying hello. All the while the honey and the musk are having their way with my skin. This is an utterly entrancing scent. It's lulling me into this drugged, opium-den-of-sin type mood. 30 Minutes: Patchouli is now in the mix. Came out last on me. Myrrh, I think, and the musk and the honey are the primary notes, with the florals and the patchouli making cameos every now and then. Throw: I swiped my wrist once with the applicator wand. I've measured 8 inches from nose to wrist to get the first whiff, just on that light application. Buy Again: Will be ordering a 10ml with the next moon purchase. Overall: Gloriously sexy scent. And versatile. Can use this as a room scent, or with scrubbies, or with soaps. Absolutely delicious! Rating: 5. Even when I can't smell the scent, I'm still *thinking* about the beguiling nature of it. Beth: you are a god. ETA: Just now noticed that I caught something that smelled like a particularly musky candle that just got blown out. I think it's that bite of myrrh and patchouli interacting. But it's not smoky. Hard to describe, but it's there. Mmmmm.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I love Hamadryad as well. I think "All Night Long" is in that family, and that you may enjoy that scent.

    Wanda

Bottle: Red, RED wine and an undercurrent of something flowery. Skin: Sadly, this goes to instant powder on me, and stays that way for the next two hours. I have absolutely no idea how this happened, but it did. Rose Rose rose. I guess I've realized that rose REALLY likes my body, and my nose REALLY hates rose. Disappointing, because I was hoping for something a bit more sultry.

    Nefertiti

Bottle: Iris and myrrh. Two big scents that were co-mingling. V. pretty. Wet - Iris and sandalwood. My body chemistry really makes sandalwood stand out. I'm not a huge fan of sandalwood, but the iris cuts through it nicely. 4 hours later - Have tried down to what I thought was a baby powder smell. However, two gentlemen sitting next to me at work have said that it smells like brown sugar, and another woman agrees. Either way, the long term does not agree with me. Swap pile!

    Jolly Roger

I got that salty ocean spray out of the bottle. The naughty girl in me wants to say it smells exactly like waking up next to your favorite pirate at dawn. Reminds me very much of that first breath of air at sea when you wake up. The bay rum doesn't come out too much for me, strangely enough. Leather is working it's way through, though, an hour after the fact. I'm going to sleep with this oil on tonight, and hopefully have some very rewarding dreams!

    Vinland

In the bottle: Sharp wildflowers with berry juice. Wet: Wildflowers are still there, but this time with a forest-y scent. Like I'm walking through part of a northern forest where the canopy is so deep that the ground is still moist, though the sun is shining down. Dry: Same as the wet, though this time I'm snacking on a berry while walking. Love my impy, possibly a 5ml bottle.

    Severin

The poster right above me said it reminded them of sipping Earl Grey while reading a book, and I have to agree completely! The Earl Grey is what comes out the most on my skin, with just a hint of the leather roaming in the background. Utterly soothing. This is going on the big bottle list!

    Machu Picchu

In the bottle : fruits and flowers and just a hint of breeze from the bay. Wet: Fruit! Smells a little bit like when an old dormmate in college would fry up tropical fruits with brown sugar on Sunday mornings. Dry - Flowers come back and do a little dance before settling down into a soothing, lulling sense of peace. Verdict - This is like a mini-vacation in a bottle. Perfect for a mid-day pick-up!
