    Yew-Trees

There is a Yew-tree, pride of Lorton Vale, Which to this day stands single, in the midst Of its own darkness, as it stood of yore: Not loathe to furnish weapons for the Bands Of Umfraville or Percy ere they marched To Scotland's heaths; or those that crossed the sea And drew their sounding bows at Azincour, Perhaps at earlier Crecy, or Poictiers. Of vast circumference and gloom profound This solitary Tree! - a living thing Produced too slowly ever to decay; Of form and aspect too magnificent To be destroyed. But worthier still of note Are those fraternal Four of Borrowdale, Joined in one solemn and capacious grove; Huge trunks! - and each particular trunk a growth Of intertwisted fibres serpentine Up-coiling, and inveteratley convolved, - Nor uninformed with Fantasy, and looks That threaten the profane; - a pillared shade, Upon whose grassless floor of red-brown hue, By sheddings from the pining umbrage tinged Perennially - beneath whose sable roof Of boughs, as if for festal purpose decked With unrejoicing berries - ghostly Shapes May meet at noontide: Fear and trembling Hope, Silence and Foresight, Death the Skeleton And Time the Shadow; there to celebrate, As in a natural temple scattered o'er With altars undisturbed of mossy stone, United worship; or in mute repose To lie, and listen to the mountain flood Murmuring from Glaramara's inmost caves. Piercingly sweet berries over evergreen boughs, deepened by the tree’s sacred wood. Mhmm! Loved the notes, so I automatically bought a bottle. In the bottle, Yew Trees smelled like pine-sol cleaner. Very piney. Very very piney. Imagine rubbing pine sap all over your nose, yep! PINEY. I like it. Wet, Yew Trees smells like mentholy pine-sol. It has that cooling smell. Uh, car cleaner? Alcohol? Dunno. I'm kind of dissapointed because I don't get any berrys from this. . Dry, still no berries! No sweetness whatsoever. Nooo! 30 minutes after dryness, I'm praying for the berries, praying desperately, but ahh - No! The piney smell gets a tad bit sweeter, but that's probably it. Umph. Overall, this scent was ..not what I though it would be. I love piney smells, but I was expecting something a little sweeter. I'm still keeping the bottle, though! I feel like I'm in a forest when I wear this! EDIT: UM, I TYPED PINEY/PINE ABOUT 1533 TIMES IN THIS REVIEW, I'M SORRY.

    Numb

I thought I'd love Numb, due to the fact that it was a limited edition scent ( I don't know, I'm just really into stuff that are 'limited' to only a few. ), and because 'gelid' was a really .. uh, catchy word - but I didn't. Bottle: Lipstick, lipstick .. and more lipstick. This is the exact smell of Milani's matte lip stuff. It gave me a headache. I didn't really want to put this on my skin. From the moment the cap was open, I had the lipsticky smell all up in my face - so I really didn't need to put it on. SIGH! I'm actually really dissapointed. Numb was my first purchase from BPAL, and I was really expecting it to be one of my top 10 favourties. Guess not - off to the swap section this goes! BUT!!! Thank you, Numb, for popping my BPAL purchase cherry. Thank you.
  3. After being introduced to Brimstone, I've been in love with "fire/burning wood" notes - and now i'm in need for some more! Does anyone know any other oils that smell like burning wood? thank yoos
