Notes of win: Honey, sugar, leather, cream, vanilla, musk, white wine, saffron, booze, and dirt. Notes of fail: Amber can turn to baby powder, I amp hemp overwhelmingly, main-note rose usually doesn't work, and dragon's blood is overpowering on me.

"If you have enough book space, I don't want to talk to you." - Terry Pratchett

"You know how it is; you put things off for a day and next thing you know, it's a hundred years later." -The Doctor (5)

I have black hair, hazel eyes, and more bruises than you can count. I'm an INTJ, I love books, including comic books. I love the Colbert Report but apart from Dr. Who and Top Gear, I almost never watch TV. The Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) is my Doctor, but Eleven reminds my wife of me.

    Ronin

This has aged into a gorgeous rice flower honey scent with hints of sandalwood and pepper. The oakmoss grounds it without being strong at all. I'm definitely going to be wearing this more often!

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Yeah, every time I've used CCNow it's done something weird like that, so I just use PayPal all the time now.

    Autumn Cider

In the imp, this smelled just like Hawaiian Punch. Memories of school lunches came flooding back. Once on my skin, it smells like spiced punch, no booze. Owlgoddess pronounced it Yankee Candle-ish. Then the spices amped, and for about half an hour all I could smell was cinnamon, but fortunately I didn't have any kind of reaction, skin-wise. Now it definitely smells like an autumn spice candle. And I had such high hopes for this.

    Holy SW ?s, Batgirl!

September 21st Cthulhu: yay or nay? OMGYAY! Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off? Get portraits of Ow1goddess and I taken. Put your current mp3player (I am the anti-apple, so no ipod ), winamp playlist, what have you, on shuffle, list the first 10 songs: Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting! I caved and ordered Fruit Bat Fruit Bath. And I think Ow1goddess is planning to order some Spun Sugar Spectre, but you could always just tell her not to. Do you have any interest in rocks? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance! I like rocks. I am a nerd. If they have significance, please tell me of it, so that when people admire my awesome rock I can tell them all about it! If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? I tend to prefer natural fibers, but I love all kinds of scarves/shawls! I don't own any shawls or cowls at all, I'm perpetually knitting them for others and not myself. If you have a pet, could you please post a photo of it? I really need to see what your pet, if you have one, looks like. YAY TIME FOR SPOT PICTURES!! Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? I like them, don't own any, and I'm not sure when I'd wear them. Of course, if they're amazing, I will find a time. How do you feel about terrariums? I feel that my cat may knock it over and eat the plants inside. What's your favorite horror movie? April Fools Day! If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. I really need a better face lotion. The Hope in a Jar I have right now leaves me a greaseball by midafternoon. Not attractive. Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? Pride and Prejudice, YAYAYAYAYAYAY! Jane Eyre, OH HELLS NO. I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? Yes, I'm definitely interested! It sounds awesome! Nothing in particular comes to mind, though. I like Shakespeare? Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? YES. If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? It's all about the story and the art. If you could choose a Smack from Villainess, what would it have in it? Limeade, Raspberry Plum, and either Spice Trade or Unearthed. If you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? Ooh, I'd want the frescoes from the Villa of the Mysteries in Pompeii! This one is my favourite panel: "The two themes of this scene are torture and transfiguration, the evocative climax of the rite. Notice the complete abandonment to agony on the face of the initiate and the lash across her back. She is consoled by a woman identified as a nurse. To the right a nude women clashes celebratory cymbals and another woman is about to give to the initiate a thyrsus, symbolizing the successful completion of the rite." Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? It sounds like fun, but I might not get around to actually doing it, depending on what it is. What's 'your' song/your theme song? Girl Anachronism, by the Dresden Dolls. What would be your superpower? I am outing myself big time as a Slytherin, and probably not the best of moral character here, but did anyone else watch the X-Files and remember Pusher? I totally want to be able to do that. NOT TO HURT PEOPLE. I just want the person at the registrar's office to send me a transcript, darn it! I want the person in customer service at Verizon to listen to me when I tell them I've already done the simple troubleshooting like resetting the router/computer. I want people to stop fighting on vent and raid like civil people! I want people to pay attention in class! Is that really so wrong? (Fair warning, though: I might use it to convince people they want to let me have the Ashes of Al'ar. It's clearly too girly for our big butch Taurens. Give it to the female Blood Elf priest instead of the Druid or the Shaman! It's a no-brainer! >_> ) Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? Yep, as long as it isn't one of the ones I already have! (Naughty and Nice from the last Yule Inquisition, Miskatonic Valley Yuletide Faire) Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! I don't like coconut flakes, and I'm allergic to wheat. Other than that, as long as it's not too heavy on the raisins, anything goes! I love nuts! Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? I used to have one, but I just wouldn't wear it now, between my watch and other bracelets. September 20th Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. Yes! Bring on the brushes! Do you like Lego? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? I like the extra-dorky Lego, like Lego Harry Potter things. I would love a Lego Snape! Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. Halloween: Las Vegas, and Honey Hair Gloss! Are there any characters that you love or identify with? Love: Identify with: A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? YES! I would love that! You could coordinate with Ow1goddess ahead of time! September 19th What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself? How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I hate petroleum-based lip balms. Hate. But I love Long Winter Farm on Etsy! I could never have enough of those. My beloved Earl Grey melted this summer, but I have Vanilla Pear, Red Currant, Blueberry Lemonade, and Lime, but I seem to recall there are about a billion more on my Etsy faves list. Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) It probably would be wasted on me. I like the black .35 rollerball pens. For those interested in watercolors, how would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? (kind of like this but without the covers for the compartments and bigger http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream) Sadly, I am not a painter. How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? I love them! I keep meaning to buy the boat-neck House Brawl girly tee, but I keep not getting around to it. If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? Nail polish and eye liner! Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? Bring. It. Do you prefer color or black-and-white photographs? Nature or abstract? This may not be helpful, but honestly I love all of those things. Would you be interested in something like this? https://lostcrates.com/how-it-works Sure! Amigurumi, yes or no? VERY YES! I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? Oh wow. This is hard. Name your 3 favorite scents for candles. Rehab: Lime, mint, and ozone get sorted out by French lavender and white musk. Crazy Bitch: An insanely fruity blend with hints of vanilla sugar. Cougar: An expert blend of blackberry and tart cranberry. Meow! Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea. Earl Grey, Matcha, and White. September 18th Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... Candle would be okay, but I don't want to smell of pumpkin myself, generally, as it reminds me so much of candles. Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? Some of them are awesome, some of them are not meaningful to me. My thought processes tend not to be so girly. I like "I promise you adventure", but not "Paint your sigil upon my heart" or "She sings a dove song". Dear witchee, if you answered 'Mac' to the Mac/PC question previously issued by another participant, please tell me what kind of computer you have, what peripherals you own (like the wireless trackpad, wireless vs/wired keyboard and mouse), and whether you're interested in Apple-related items (stickers, keychains, other things with the logo, etc). I have a late 2006 iMac, which is going to be replaced in the spring (I hope). I'm using a Razer keyboard and a Razer Naga mouse. Both are wired, because having my mouse or keyboard die in the middle of a raid is likely to result in severe inconvenience. I'm in charge of heals for my WoW 25-man raid. SOCK PREFERENCES? Would you like/wear a pair of these? http://www.ravelry.c...rary/yoga-socks If so, what color? Probably not. If I have an excuse to be barefoot, I don't want socks! Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? I do! I like toe sockies. I missed most of the crazy food team action, but I am another for team EAT ALL THE THINGS! I've never had brussels sprouts, though. And it has to be soy or turkey when it comes to team bacon. Oh, and there's the wheat-free thing. I guess I am Team Jewish and Team Gluten-Free! Stuff I like from across the Atlantic: Jelly Babies, Fruit & Nut bars, Cadbury Eggs, Paprika Pringles, any kind of candy, really. I don't think I can eat Allsorts any more, though, since I can't have wheat. If I could find a digestive that wasn't made with wheat, I would turn cartwheels. Same with Jammie Dodgers. I miss them so damn much. Dr Who fan? If I could only join one team, it would be TEAM TARDIS! I've been watching since I was a kid: Five is my Doctor! I am also so in love with Eleven! LOVE. Seriously. Matt Smith does a wonderful job of being The Doctor. I am going to have to stop talking about Doctor Who before people start staring. Anyone love Buffy/Angel? I didn't get big into Buffy, but that was mostly because the friends I had who were super into it were so annoying talking about it that it completely turned me off. Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? I love t-shirts, I especially love geeky ones, and I would love one designed by my witch! How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... Not a huge fan. I prefer leafy scents for fall. Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? Never heard of it, but I'm willing to look into it! September 17th Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? Not really. Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? Sure, and sure! I can do Edgar Allen Poe-related postcards, the Poe Museum is right here in my hometown. Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? I wish! The Indigo Girls are coming next month, but I don't think we're going to be able to afford it. Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? In order of like: Next Gen (far and away my fave, I super love Data and Picard), TOS (SPOCK!), Voyager (for the holodoc and Janeway), DS9 (just haven't seen very much of this). Never got into Enterprise at all. September 16th Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? If I'm going to eat in the house I'm probably cooking. I would definitely be interested in kitcheny stuff. Right now my biggest wish is one of those big flat bent things for icing cakes. New question: How do you feel about maple syrup? LOVE. But it has to be the real thing. I have family in Montreal, and when I was growing up we were kept supplied with homemade maple butter/maple syrup, etc., so if it's not 100%, I can tell. How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? (Like these: http://www.art-shrin...cketshrines.htm) Sure! Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene) Yes, but if it has soy sauce it can't be made with wheat. :| I don't want to break a tooth on the stuff, either. Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work. Whatever you think is funny. Doctor Who? Yay or nay? (please don't make me cry by saying nay) YAY YAY YAY!!!!! I started watching Doctor Who on PBS in the 80s, and I was so thrilled when it came back in 2005! I loved David Tennant as the Doctor, and I love Matt Smith's Doctor, despite being super skeptical since he was so young. But love. OH AND AMY AND RORY AND RIVER A;LFJA;DJFA;LKDFJ;AGA;LKDJF;KAJDLKJF I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package? YES times infinity! Anyone love Buffy/Angel? I know I'm a bad geek, but I never got into this. I liked the original movie, but never really got into the show. How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires? Haribo forever! Gummi frogs, peach rings, HAPPY COLA, gummy worms, you name it. How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? YES! I have an iPhone 4 with a green bumper. Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney? Zombies! And I had a two-volume set of the real versions of fairy tales as a kid. When I watched The Little Mermaid and she didn't die at the end I was surprised! Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings? Yep, my ears are pierced more than once, even. How do you all feel about Whoopie Pies? As long as they don't contain wheat, I freakin' love them! September 15th Interested in anything from Lush? I'd rather have BPTP stuff, honestly. I used to be huge into LUSH, but I've replaced the soap with Paintbox, the scrub with Villainess, and the lotion with BPTP bath oils. Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? I have a LiveJournal layout that I'm actually really happy with, but my Tumblr is HORRIBAD and I just can't seem to come up with something. I would love something for that! Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? Absolutely! do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies (ingredients: semi-sweet chocolate chips, PB, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, chex cereal)? would you want to get some from your witch / nacho witch? Yes! It just has to be one of the non-wheat chex kinds! How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. do you like real sugar skulls? Things with sugar skull designs? Never had a real sugar skull. Sugar skull designs are hit or miss for me. Alicia's sugar skull necklaces are lovely, but I've seen some really hideous stuff out there. Who here adores meringue? I can take it or leave it, for the most part. September 14th Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? Wanted to be a surgeon, became actress, now nursing school. How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? Yes, yes, yes! Crazy things! Especially in awesome little bottles! What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) I live in beautiful, scenic, bigoted Virginia, where the weather is schizophrenic. I'm also allergic to wheat, so don't use wheat flour in the brownies! They do make some tasty brownie mix that's wheat-free. Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? Love, but now I don't trust places here not to use wheat flour and I usually don't have access to an ingredient list. Anything from the update ya'll are liking? BPTP UPDATE OMG, I want like everything. Except the Candied Pumpkin perfume. Pumpkin is just not really my thing. I went into a lot more detail in the order anything question. Does anyone like kimchi? Not me. But I've only ever smelled it. :yikes: Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? Definitely! You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? OH HELLS YEAH. This is gonna get long. First, I'm going to hit the Trading Post. I'm buying Spun Sugar Specter bath oil, Castitas bath oil, (I'm a bath oil addict, but I don't have a problem or anything. .) The Orchards of Hell atmo. spray, Harvest Festival atmo. spray, Exotic Bazaar atmo spray, Sugar Skull soap, Streuobstwiese soap, and ALL THE HAIR GLOSSES (okay, okay, Honey hair gloss). Then I'd throw in the Halloween tissue tee (Idk my chest measurement but I'm a 32E), a pair of yoga pants (I'm 5'8", 11 stone, 29" waist, 40" hips; make of that what you will. I'm still losing weight and aiming for 9st 9.), and a pair of purple sockfeetz. Then I'd get a Goldfish Pool locket--the story is personally relevant since I was a professional actor. After that I'd hit up the Lab. I'd order a backup of Crowley (my first GC order ever, and boy did I hit it out of the park on that one), a bottle of Bordello (which I keep meaning to buy and never seem to get around to putting in the cart), and then I'd take chances on some 'weenies, but last year the 'weenies were a 100% washout on me, so I'm super wary here. What I really need is decants, but since money is no object here I went down the LE page and hit add to cart on anything that looked good. The first thing in was Sonnet D'Automne, which looks like the biggest hit of the bunch for me. It's tempting to get a bottle of Samhainophobia, which I bought in 2007 and still abso-fraggin-lutely love. I also am tempted by the Vampire Bride, Nymphae Avernales, The Glittering Apple of the Stars, Elegy IX: The Autumnal, Pumpkin Princess, and La Calavera Catrina. And since Blood Moon is still up, in it goes. Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? YES YES YES. It's all on my Etsy faves, but I want Cicada and Guy Fawkes and Indian Summer soaps! Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes I don't follow anything but Doctor Who obsessively, and that's not a sport. If we're talking American football, I go for Green Bay. I was on my college's varsity fencing, and football/soccer team. Senior year I was captain of the Sabre team, too. How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I love notebooks! My preference is for ones with perforations for tearing sheets out cleanly. Other than that, I'm not particularly picky, though I prefer that they not be made it China, and have some recycled content. Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Glitter makes me angry. Confetti is fun! Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? I have not and I am open to the idea! How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? I'm picky about plushies, but the most recent acquisition on that front is an amigurumi adiposeling (Doctor Who again!) from DixieHellcat who ROCKS MY SOCKS. I love it! Before that, I got a wind rider hatchling (yes, I play WoW. For the Horde!) How interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did? Okay, confession: this question was on a page that I skipped, but I'm assuming that these are for BPAL bottles? If so, YES! When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? Honestly? My wife and my kitty. Snuggles, back/foot/face rubs, and just knowing someone cares help so much. So maybe e-cards? Ooh, and food that's not full of dairy. I am so unhelpful here, aren't I? *hangs head* What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) Expensive truffles. Ridiculously HTF BPAL. Silk or cashmere sock or lace yarn. What do you really NOT want? Things that suck? I don't know where this question is headed... September 13th How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? Sure, I don't really use them in the kitchen, but I can stick them in the bathroom! Our bathroom is green and blue. How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? Little black dress with a simple necklace, freshwater pearl french hook earrings, and Fluevogs. Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc) The only kind of puzzles I don't love are slide puzzles. September 12th Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? Probably not, the only e-reader I have is my iPhone. Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) Yes, and I'll even check out the linked ones in a few minutes. Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? Not that I can think of at the moment! Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? I so would! If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? I happily accept all teas, provided that they are not strongly chamomile or mint. September 11th Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! Yes, and HELLS YES. Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? I would LOVE it! I'd love hand dyed/ hand painted yarn as well! I like green, silver, black, blue, purple, and red. :3 And another question; anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? I have a wish list there, it's in my questionnaire! Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share? I have yet to check out pinterest.

    Fall '11 SW Questionnaire

Switch Witch Questionnaire Basic Info Birthday: 12 July Pets: One orange tabby cat named Spot. If you get the reference, you're awesome. <3 Children: Negatory. Religious orientation: Jewish Favorite Holiday: Hanukkah and St. Patrick's Day, though I do love Halloween. Occupation/Major in school: I was a theatre major in college, and afterward I was a professional actor for a while (Shakespeare is my favourite, I'm a huge drama nerd. Actually, I'm a huge nerd full stop.), then got married and settled down, so now I'm going to school again for nursing! Living arrangement (by yourself, with roommates, etc): I'm married to ow1goddess, so naturally we live together! Livejournal/Blog/Website: my livejournal is thechildoftime, I'm brbgallifrey on twitter and tumblr, and I'm achildoftime on Facebook. Sadly all these are fairly locked down, as my ex-husband is a major creep and likes to e-stalk. Organizations/Causes/Activities (Things you belong to or causes you believe in): Animal Rights, Gay Rights (especially Marriage rights), Feminism, Planned Parenthood, Religious Freedom. BPAL Favorite BPAL oils: Glowing Vulva, Love's Philosophy, Elf v.4, Geek.Goth, Cabaret.Goth, Thirteen (October '06 or August '10), Crowley, Penis Admiration, and In Reilig Oran/Sky City Before. I have been wearing honey/wine scents like they'll never make another one for some reason lately, and therefore I'm chewing through Fairy Wine. I've also been all over Womb Furie '10. Really though, anything similar to any of these = omgyesplz! Favorite notes: Sugar, Lime, Honey, Red Currant, Black Currant, Wine, Musk, Leather, Spices, Dirt, Vanilla, Chocolate (of any kind). Sugar absolutely loves me, and I am lusting for honey BPAL at the moment. Favorite non-BPAL perfumes: Burberry Brit is the only spray perfume I've ever loved. I think it's the lime. Least favorite notes: Amber can be fine on me or it can KILL. It's beautiful in Aglaea, Glowing Vulva, and The Girl, but in other things (I'm lookin' at you, O) it turns into aggressive baby powder, and overpowers any other notes in a blend. Also, hemp tends to amp up and overpower everything when it hits my skin, so I stay away, but somehow it works in Banshee Beat, so who knows? Least favorite non-BPAL perfumes: Pretty much everything but Brit and Be Delicious. If Beth made a custom blend for you, what would the notes be, and what would you want the label art to look like? Doctor: an eccentric, enthusiastic, and slightly ridiculous scent! Lime sugar, white wine, black currant, and a drop of honey over warm musk, a leather-bound book, and a cup of tea. Is that a whiff of ozone? Say "Wheeeee!" Clothing & Jewelry Hair type: long, "kitten-fine" according to my hairdresser, and dark chestnut brown. Skin Type: super freakin' pale. I'm a MAC NC15. Thank you, Scottishness. Allergies (specifically B&B related): I'm fine with most B&B stuff as long as it's made with minimal chemicals. I've never had a problem with anything from tartchef or Villainess or LUSH or the Lab/Trading Post, but some drugstore lotion/soap has given me hives. Other things to avoid:I found out a year ago that I'm allergic to wheat (but NOT gluten-sensitive). So cookies/brownies are going to be more work than normal. It's extra terrible because I love baking, and now all the cookbooks I find start with "make your own flour!" Not really into having to buy and blend flours. I've looked at a few gluten-free blogs, since anything that's gluten-free is also wheat-free, but...yeah. Thank goodness for wheat-free Newman-Os and Fig Newmans. Tub, shower or both? Both! Favorite bath & beauty products: Paintbox Soap, Villainess scrubs, MAC/Urban Decay makeup, OPI nail polish. Clothing Style/Fave garments: Geek chic! Probably a nice pair of jeans and a classic solid top. Three-quarter sleeved shirts are the best. Lately I've been wearing capris and nerdy shirts, or cute knee-length skirts. Favorite clothing colors/colors to wear: Green! Type(s) of jewelry worn: Earrings, earrings, earrings! Especially dangly ones on french hooks. I cannot get enough. I don't usually wear rings outside of my wedding and college rings, and I don't have many necklaces, because given the choice I go for earrings. My ears are pierced several times each. Ring/wrist/collar size: My ring size is tiny (5-6.5), wrist is also small at 6 and 1/4", and my neck is similarly small (13"), so I can wear 16" chains no sweat. Jewelry--gold or silver? White gold! Also silver. Do you have any allergies to metal? Nope! Favorite gemstones: Green garnet, emerald, garnet, ruby, opal, pearl. Sock/Shoe Size: Socks: this is going to be shocking, but I'm the smaller size of socks. I'm a 7.5 in most shoes, 8 in heels since they tend to run small. Lifestyle Style/home decoration style: Clean lines and classic, warm contemporary stuff. Favorite decorating colors: Rich chocolate and spice browns, red, burgundy, wine, green of any variety, especially warm spring greens, and black. Things you collect: glass paperweights, BPAL (obvs), sock yarn Favorite music: Dresden Dolls, Indigo Girls, Dar Williams, Aimee Mann, Barenaked Ladies, They Might Be Giants, and most 90s music. Least favorite music: Rap/Country. Vegetarian/Vegan?: (Please be as specific as possible to reduce confusion!) I was a vegetarian but gave it up a few years ago. I'm thinking about going back eventually. Other food restrictions: As I mentioned earlier, I just found out I'm allergic to wheat. I can generally still eat things that say they've been made in the same facility or on shared equipment with wheat without any problem. The key is for the ingredients to be free of wheat. I'm not gluten-intolerant, though, which is lucky, since there are more foods off-limits for gluten-intolerant people. Also, since I'm Jewish I don't eat pork. Not even (gasp!) bacon (turkey bacon, OTOH, is DELICIOUS). Favorite flavors: Lime, any citrus, any kind of berry (including acai), pomegranate, pineapple, milk chocolate, and anything savory. Favorite foods/drinks: Fish & Chips (crai, the breading--what will I doooo?), nearly any smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Starbucks (only the chai and the soy lattes though) and I also enjoy a good steak (medium rare). I need to find a new source for cheese fries, too, since Outback's apparently are covered in wheat. Favorite authors/genres: Sci-Fi and Fantasy, especially Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Steven Brust, David Coe, and of course Tolkein. Least favorite authors/genres: Christopher Stasheff. I totally caught him recycling pages of text and trying to pass them off as descriptions of new creatures/places/people. Also John Ringo, Robert Jordan (the neverending, agonizing description of irrelevant things!), and anything Romance. Blegh. Books/authors you'd like to read, but haven't yet: Tiassa, by Steven Brust. How do you feel about receiving gently used books as gifts? Bring them on! Favorite stores (including clothing stores): For clothes, New York & Company. Otherwise, The Apple Store, Cocoanut Jewelry (local store that sells work by independent artists--my #1 source for kickass jewelry), LUSH, MAC, Sephora (love me some Urban Decay--I desperately want the 15th Anniversary box!), Crate and Barrel, and Teavana. Favorite online stores (including B&B stores): Sock Dreams, ThinkGeek, Paintbox Soapworks, Elements and Artifacts, Villainess, The Loopy Ewe. Magazines you subscribe to: None at the moment. Magazines you like, but don't subscribe to: Cooking Light, Interweave Knits, Doctor Who Monthly, Makeup Artist Favorite movies: The Princess Bride, So I Married An Axe Murderer, Galaxy Quest, Lord of the Rings, and Office Space. Favorite TV show(s): DOCTOR WHO for life! Also, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Babylon 5, Top Gear, and Mad Men. Hobbies/crafts done: Knitting, BPAL box decorating, baking/cooking, and playing with makeup totally counts here, right? Wishlists BPAL Wish List (including SW/SF Help): BPAL list: http://tinyurl.com/3ny3gdg, SW/SF help at my blog! Other website Wish lists (amazon.com, etc): Etsy: http://tinyurl.com/3cuavot Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/428j2tb ThinkGeek: http://tinyurl.com/3u8mbr6 Random Questions - On a scale of 1-5, how organized are you? I'd say 3. On my own, I'm a 4. But my dear wife is a walking tornado, and I just can't do it for both of us. I hold us together, though. Like I made BPAL boxes for her, and I make sure her bottles are labeled and her imps are in their own box...mostly. - Where, outside of the U.S. would you love to visit? I would live in London or Edinburgh in a heartbeat. I'd love to visit Rome or Athens, as I did some graduate work in Classical Philology (languages). - Do people tell you that you act older, younger, or your age? Used to be older, but now it's my age or younger. Apparently I got stuck at 26 (I'm...gulp...31 now). - What animal do you feel like the most? KITTEH. This has been discussed and agreed upon. Ow1goddess likes to say that I'm the Cat Whisperer, and that I love cats because I am one. - Your favorite feature about yourself: I have velvety soft skin, whether or not I exfoliate or moisturize, because I have a genetic collagen defect (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) that makes it that way! Ow1goddess says she's ruined for normal people, so we can never split up or she'll have to creep EDS groups. - Do you live in a neighborhood or in the middle of nowhere? Neighborhood here! - If you were a tree, what would you be and why? I was thinking about saying Olive, since it grows in places that are significant for me, and it has lovely silver leaves, and I do love olives. But I took a quiz that says I'm a Holly, which actually sounds good, too. "Holly people are cautious, capable, steadfast, efficient, supportive and protective. However, Hollies may be prone to perfectionism, loss of direction and possessiveness, especially toward people." - Have you ever thought, "oh, I'm going to get myself one of those one of these days" but then never do? List 1 under $10 and 1 over $10. These things are legion! Under $10: BPTP Claw Polish! Over $10: BPTP yoga pants. I'm noticing a theme to these things. - Has a stranger ever told you that you did something really well? What was it? Yes. Acting, fencing, and knitting! - Do you like garage sales (boot sales)? Sure, but I never end up there--too early in the morning! - I like to slather my food in: Salt (especially flavoured/seasoned salt) or Mrs. Dash. - State fairs or carnivals? Either sounds like a great time right now! Notes (Here's where you can add additional information you'd like your Switch Witch to know!): Ow1goddess is my fabulous, brilliant, and insightful wife, so if you have questions or want an opinion about anything, or want some inside info about what makes me tick, she's the one to ask. Since this is the BPAL board, I might be just the tiniest bit disappointed if I don't get even one sniffie of BPAL/BPTP. Questions that got dropped from this year's questionnaire: - Have you ever been skinny dipping? Nope. I haven't. Never had the chance, really. - Do you wear pajamas to places other than at your house? If I'm sleeping over somewhere, yes. Otherwise, no. - Your least favorite feature about yourself: My saddlebag hips and my extra flab. I lost 60 pounds, which is good, but the loose skin is not so good. And I have 20 to go, and I need to start exercising! - If you were a shoe, what would you be and why? A fluevog! Probably this one: - They're making a bio-pic based on your life. Who's portraying you? Gillian Anderson. I was disallowed from making myself look like her in our stage makeup project because it was "too easy". - Do you like to shop? Love it, as long as I'm shopping online or in one of my favourite shops. Otherwise, get in, get what you need, get out, done! - Sunrise or sunset? Sunset on Pine Ridge at Camp Kittamaqund. Most beautiful thing in the state.

    Touched Twice

TOUCHED TWICE It was long that the unicorn stood by Prince Lír before she touched him with her horn. For all that her quest had ended joyously, there was weariness in the way she held herself, and a sadness in her beauty that Molly had never seen. It suddenly seemed to her that the unicorn’s sorrow was not for Lír but for the lost girl who could not be brought back; for the Lady Amalthea, who might have lived happily ever after with the prince. The unicorn bowed her head, and her horn glanced across Lír’s chin as clumsily as a first kiss. He sat up blinking, smiling at something long ago. “Father,” he said in a quick, wondering voice. “Father, I had a dream.” Then he saw the unicorn, and he rose to his feet as the blood on his face began to shine and move again. He said, “I was dead.” The unicorn touched him a second time, over the heart, letting her horn rest there for a little space. They were both trembling. Prince Lír put his hands out to her like words. She said, “I remember you. I remember.” As delicate as life, as gentle as death, and as powerful as love: sheer, luminescent vanilla musk with frangipani, red sandalwood, frankincense, champaca flower, coconut, rose absolute, white cyclamen, Himalayan mogra, angelica, and white oud. In the bottle, I smell rose and some soft sweetness. Once I put it on, the rose absolute really blooms, if you can forgive the choice of word. While this is wet, all I get is ROSE ABSOLUTE! ALL ROSES HERE. Now that it's starting to dry, I can smell some coconut and frankincense starting to peek out. If you love rose scents, this is right up your alley. If you're not a big rose fan like me and you were hoping that it wasn't going to dominate, maybe you have different skin chemistry and will thus be luckier, but this is definitely a rosy one. I'm thinking of things I could blend this with to cut some of its rosiness, because it is really pretty, I just wish the other notes could compete with that rose absolute.

    What Scent Is This?

Elf is a very light oil, and definitely has a woodsy smell to it that you won't get from neutral. It sounds like your imp is mislabeled. Oops!

Maybe I got a weird bottle of this, but in the bottle and on my skin this is a creamy, subtle, light but deep rose with a hint of dark spice and the barest wisp of leather (which I can't always smell). Rose-dominant blends have historically hated me--I can't wear Rose Red, Whip, or London (heartbreaking, as it's my favourite city in the world) at all. I usually only do well with blends like Queen of Clubs or the Post roses (white rose, red rose) where there's a bit of rose but it's not the star of the show. Shockingly, this is lovely on me. The rose I get is deep, but very light. This is not a strong scent on me at all, just enough to smell if you hug me, or I reach over you, or turn my head. If I didn't know there was leather in there, I would never have known it was there at all. Just creamy roses with a dark spice underneath adding enough depth to keep this from being too simple a blend. I can't wait until my Lab order comes in the mail, I would love to layer this with Neutral. I can imagine adding skin musk to this would be mind-blowing. Definitely looking forward to seeing how this ages!

    Cabaret.Goth

This is nothing short of amazing. In the bottle it's creamy vanilla amber, but once it hits my skin the mandarin and the spices bloom and it's completely beautiful. It reminds me of Love's Philosophy, with the creamy vanilla spice, but as it dries, the blast of mandarin dies down a bit and the gardenia floats out around the edges. Such a relief, I was terrified that the flowers were going to ruin this for me, but it's lovely! It does remind me of Glowing Vulva. Maybe the love child of Glowing Vulva and Love's Philosophy, if that makes any sense. The glowing creamy amber of GV mixed with the vanilla spice of LP, with juicy mandarin and a bare hint of flowers. Emoticon verdict:

    Phyllocrania Paradoxa v1

When I first sniffed from the bottle, I was sure this was related to XCDL13 (sharp in the bottle) and Elf v4 (hello creamy vanilla), and once it hit skin, any doubt was removed. This is very reminiscent of Elf v4, but with a hint of something almost-masculine-but-not-really that reminds me of Dorian. I didn't get sassafrass, but tonka seems likely, and I agree that there's a very soft musk floating just at the edges. This didn't end up powdery at all on me, or on Ow1goddess, so ymmv on the powdery issue. Whatever it is that's reminding me of Dorian is keeping this from being too sweet or girly (thankfully) without making it really masculine. I think that this would be dangerously good on a man, while it's certainly lovely on Ow1goddess and I. Emoticon verdict:

    Scent for Halloween?

I'm not sure I could stop myself from wearing Nymphia if Ow1goddess and I decided to go up to D.C. and make it legal (at least in some states!). Ow1goddess and I are both classicists, and the name is just too perfect to pass up.

    Thirteen (13): October 2006

I have a bottle of this that came from a trunk show, and I have to say, it's absolutely stunning. I hadn't reviewed it earlier because I'm having an extremely hard time picking out notes for this and describing it, but I happened to put it on the day after I tested XCDL13, and they smell incredibly similar on me. My wife thought I was wearing XCDL13 again when I asked her to smell it! So the best way I know to describe it is XCDL13 with a wispy orange note.

    Nikephoros

Bringer of victory Black currant, patchouli, blood orange, oakmoss, galbanum, benzoin, and white mint. When I first opened the bottle I was a bit worried about this scent, as the oakmoss was VERY strong. When I put it on, however, Nikephoros became an instant love. This is exactly the scent I'd been digging through my collection looking for and not finding. The oakmoss and patchouli ground the scent, and they are very well balanced by the orange and blackcurrant. The balance keeps this from being too sweet or too earthy/dry. The white mint isn't really detectable, but makes this scent is cold like the end of winter meeting early spring. This is a complex scent that is mostly cool and dry with a hint of warm and juicy.

A Game Called Yes & No

A GAME CALLED YES & NO “Here is a new game,” said Scrooge. “One half hour, Spirit, only one!” It was a Game called Yes and No, where Scrooge’s nephew had to think of something, and the rest must find out what; he only answering to their questions yes or no, as the case was. The brisk fire of questioning to which he was exposed, elicited from him that he was thinking of an animal, a live animal, rather a disagreeable animal, a savage animal, an animal that growled and grunted sometimes, and talked sometimes, and lived in London, and walked about the streets, and wasn’t made a show of, and wasn’t led by anybody, and didn’t live in a menagerie, and was never killed in a market, and was not a horse, or an ass, or a cow, or a bull, or a tiger, or a dog, or a pig, or a cat, or a bear. At every fresh question that was put to him, this nephew burst into a fresh roar of laughter; and was so inexpressibly tickled, that he was obliged to get up off the sofa and stamp. At last the plump sister, falling into a similar state, cried out: “I have found it out! I know what it is, Fred! I know what it is!” “What is it?” cried Fred. “It’s your Uncle Scro-o-o-o-oge!” Which it certainly was. Admiration was the universal sentiment, though some objected that the reply to “Is it a bear?” ought to have been “Yes;” inasmuch as an answer in the negative was sufficient to have diverted their thoughts from Mr. Scrooge, supposing they had ever had any tendency that way. “He has given us plenty of merriment, I am sure,” said Fred, “and it would be ungrateful not to drink his health. Here is a glass of mulled wine ready to our hand at the moment; and I say, ‘Uncle Scrooge!’ ” “Well! Uncle Scrooge!” they cried. “A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the old man, whatever he is!” said Scrooge’s nephew. “He wouldn’t take it from me, but may he have it, nevertheless. Uncle Scrooge!” Mulled wine and marzipan. In the bottle this is sweet and boozy and just a little bit spicy, with the sugary almond lying thickly underneath. The oil is perfectly clear, and once it's on my skin, it's warm and light, with the spices keeping the marzipan from making this overly sweet or foody. This is a great holiday scent! Wet, the fruitiness of the wine and sweetness of the marzipan come forward, but as it dries, the spices assert themselves, and the mulled wine is a little bit stronger than the marzipan. I had to get out my Gluhwein to compare, and I'd say that if you liked Gluhwein, this is going to be a win for you. The mulled wine is very similar, but the marzipan makes A Game Called Yes & No feel a little more seasonal, if that makes sense. They're both delicious mulled wine, but if you sniff them side by side, Gluhwein is winter-warm and AGCY&N is more holiday warm. Verdict: I'm in love, and a rare (for me) second bottle may be necessary!

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I would LOVE to get my hands on one of the non-red-musk bottles! Mine is like red musk SN, and I wish I got the other stuff.
