    The Red Rider

The Red Rider is the brown, aged leather of a horse tack barn. In fact, this scent is so reminiscent of horse tack to me that it almost brought tears to my eyes. This is not a black leather jacket or a leather shop to me, but instead an earthy, musky, rich, well-worn saddle leather. I adore this scent and the memories it evokes, and can't wait to layer it with other loves! Cowgirl all the way, baby

    Snake Oil Bath Oil

Disclaimer: I do not like snake oil fresh. Aged is a whole 'nother story, however. SOBO is like rolling in aged snake oil goodness! I've used it as both bath oil and as an after-shower skin moisturizer. The scent is fairly strong and long-lasting, but not over-powering. The man-thing pounced, declared how good I smelled (not usual for man-thing) and how soft my skin was and that's all I'm going to say about that Needless to say I will be buying LOTS more SOBO

    Coyote

Coyote is the warm, comforting smell of a gorgeous man clad in worn buckskin lying in browning prairie grass at sunset. I'm Native and the Coyote holds a very special part in my life story and my history. Everything about this scent is truly evocative, grounding, and so comforting to me. Beth captured the essence of this so completely that it actually almost brings me to tears every time I smell this scent...but in the very best way. Coyote is hands-down one of my favorite scents from BPAL. It's so unlike most of my other favorites (mainly heavy, darker scents) and yet I come back to Coyote time and again. To me, this scent is the perfect comfort scent. Worn leather, warm musks, and the smell of isolated, drying prairie grasses.

    Mircalla, Countess Karnstein

I got Mircalla unsniffed because I was so sure she would be full of win. Mme Moriarty is one of my favorite scents. I adore red musk, smokey vanilla, tonka, and patchouli. And I used to live on Zanzibar, so how could I resist the Zanzibar clove note?!? But Mircalla on my skin is headache-inducing, raging frankincense from hell! This is a super dry, bitter frankincense that overpowers everything else on me, including any hint of red musk. I will likely hang onto her for a while and see if aging tempers this beast, but if not, she'll be off to find a better home where she will be loved.

    Anne Bonny

Despite almost a year on the forums and more than that with BPAL, I haven't been one for reviews. But since I'm supposed to be packing to move, what better way to procrastinate I'm a huge fan of the concept of pirate scents and Anne Bonny in particular. None of the notes gave me cause for worry and I was so sure that this was going to be a huge hit for me. Not so. Epic failure!! This was the very first BPAL I ever had to scrub off. Headache-inducing nightmare. And to this day, I'm still not sure what happened. I have no problem with any of the notes in other blends, but this one was crippling. I'm still crushed and in search of pirate revenge

    Snake Oil

I finally get it. Snake oil was in my very first pack of imps as a complete newbie and I didn't like it. I couldn't understand what all the hype was about at all. Aging was a foreign concept. But instead of packing for my impending move like I should have been today, I was playing with my imp collection. I saved that imp of snake oil from about a year ago, and just for kicks, swiped some on tonight. OMG Now I get it! I could have never imagined, pre-BPAL addiction, that something could morph so much from fresh to aged. I guess I'm going to have to order me a bottle of snake oil and stash it away for at least a year! I can't stop sniffing my wrist and grinning. Too bad I'm going to have to wait to get this kind of goodness. Teach me to be a non-believer
