Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I had my first (and please God, only) reaction to a BPAL oil yesterday. It was CHUPAROSA, which I noticed someone earlier on this page had basically the same reaction. Started with an itch and then a burning sensation and then red whelps which eventually went away after a shower. Some of the friends I have met on the forum mentioned different possible reasons...Cardamon, almond, cassia, cinnamon (which I am pretty sure wasn't it...I have others with that aspect...possibly a different kind of cinnamon??? Although it wasn't mentioned, it did smell "cinnamony" when I applied it.) I hope that NEVER happens again! I have several new ones I haven't tried yet and as one of my BPAL buds suggested, I won't be slathering it all over my neck and arms at the first application. Chuparosa was lovely, but I am afraid to even put it in an oil diffuser...don't want to be inhaling whatever the "bad guy" was. If anybody has any ideas what might have been in that one, please PM me so I can avoid it like the plague in the future

    Chuparosa

I got the same cinammon scent from this lovely fragrance. I don't smell the rose as much as I thought (and hoped). Still, it IS a very pretty and summery type scent. The stronger, spicy scent keeps it from being a "spring time" scent, at least in my mind. So far, good throw. But wait, what is happening? I seem to be having some kind of funky reaction to this one. My skin is starting to itch and I can see "red" where I applied it. Holy Shit! My neck is a HUGE red whelp and where I applied it to my arms, the same. I have NEVER had a reaction to a BPAL oil before like this. If anybody else has, or has any ideas about this, PLEASE PM me. It may be a particuliar note I am allergic to????? WOW...not nice at all...

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

    The original was LOVELY
  4. I am pretty much a BPAL "virgin", but I do equate MIDNIGHT with the B&BW's "Moonlight Path"... here is the lab's description of Midnight: An ethereal bouquet of night-blooming flowers. Evening primrose, ruellia, flowering nicotiana, wild petunia, panani-o-kai, night phlox, night gladiolus, moonflower and the elusive scent of Nottingham Catchfly

    Oberon

I have the weirdest chemistry, I guess... I was so excited to try this one (thanks, Golden Rubee) because of the juniper berries and patchouli. I had no idea what bergamot smells like. Still don't. In the vial, I thought, "This could be it...this could REALLY be my holy grail of fragrances...AT LAST! Usually it is the total oposite. In the vial I sometimes wonder, "Dare I really put this on my skin?" (2 cases in point are Twilight and Santa Muerte...those 2 smelled almost foul to my untrained probosis, but after they were on my sky and dry, I was AMAZED. But I digress ) Oberon in the vial smelled so beautiful, I couldn't wait to get it on my skin. As soon as I did, it VANISHED WTH? If I held my wrist up to my nose and practically snorted, I got a whiff of something soapy, almost "bubble-gummy". I saw what others were relating about the "Old Spice/man's cologne" bit. I think I am picking up the bergamot because there is a note coming out that I don't recognize. Unless Beth's patchouli is something I am not familiar with. This is becoming something I wish my skin didn't eat... On me, so light, almost non existent. I guess the girls in my office can't complain about this one

    Poisson d'Avril

I received this as a "freebie" from Ahania. She knew I was looking for a "springtime" scent and this is dead on! In the vial: it smells so "springy-sweet". Can't wait to try it on! On the skin: loving it...loving it! Makes me smile as I anticipate spring. Dry down: on me, it becomes almost TOO sweet. I lose the BEAUTIFUL florals it had at first. I really can't make up my mind about this one. I was suprized it has no orchid notes, as on dry down, it seems to "match" B&BW's newest, "Enchanted Orchid" fragrance. Anybody else notice this?

    Scarecrow

I am VERY NEW to review writing, so please bear with me. Based on the description, this was the first imp I wanted to try in the lot of 9 I bought from GoldenRubee (THANKS AGAIN for all the goodies )... But I digress. In the vial: I get the acetone/nail polish remover odor that others here have mentioned. My husband commented it smelled like a automobile body repair shop...apparently there is a product called "Bondo" which they use to repair car body damage which has this same "fragrance". Wet on skin: More of the same Dry down: I can't explain it further other than to say this would make a nice, clean men's cologne. Oh, and I also got a small whiff of banana that another poster mentioned while wearing it for about one hour. I will no doubt wear it, but I am not sure when or where. I won't be wearing it to work, that's for sure! Probably to some outdoor event in late summer/early autumn??? Scarecrow is VERRRYY INTERESTING, to say the least. Probably not everybody's cup of tea, but really unique, nonetheless.

    Play-Doh smell -- should I dilute?

I only own 7 imps, but I have a feeling that Glasgow turns into the infamous Play-Doh you all are talking about on me. It is beautiful at first, but the longer I wear it, the more the smell "bothers" me. None of my other imps do this to me. The only thing the lab mentions with Glasgow is heather and blackberry. Does anybody know if it has the almonds or musk that may be the culprit? Please PM me, because if it does, I will avoid either of those in my next purchase. Thanks!!!

    Cinnamon girl...

I am new to all this, so please bear with me. I only own 1 cinnamon scent and I LOVE IT!!! When I ordered my first (and only, so far) set of imps the one I wanted most was Hamadryad, the spirit of the tree. (Trees are my thing ). When I got my order, I was coming down with a stomach virus and when I smelled it, I almost vomited. All I could smell was wet, moldy earth (this shouldn't have suprized me, after reading the lab's description). Anyway, I put it away and started enjoying my other imps and a few months later, I decided to try Hamadryad again. I got the cinnamon everybody was raving about, and when it dried down, it almost brought tears to my eyes, it was so lovely!!! I don't know how Beth does it, but I STAND AMAZED!!!!
