    Olokun

Hmm, right away this reminded me of something that I couldn't put my finger on, but in reading the comments I figured it out.... Febreeze. I mean, it's in all ways better than Febreeze, but to me the essential scent is similar. It's like the cleanest, freshest sea air, with a snap of ozone. After a while an odd floral scent begins to come out, which reminds me of the little decorative soaps my grandma has. Amusing imagery, but not good news for Olokun. This one doesn't quite work on me, but maybe someone with more patience for light aquatics will have better luck.

    Bewitched

Mmm, a delicious blackberry tea scent, with a hint of something dark and twisty underneath. To me it almost seemed like dirt, but I guess it was just black musk. But at any rate, it soon became mostly berry, which I love. It has all the things I like most in a scent, but somehow it failed to really impress me. But there's nothing wrong with it, so maybe it'll just grow on me? Either way I'll enjoy using my imp!

    Nocnitsa

At first this smelled like very candylike grapes and pine to me. But now that I've read the description, I can identify the grapey smell as an odd kind of lime. I always associate pine with winter, but this has a definite October feel to it, to match the description. Almost like instead of one fresh pine tree, we've got a dark, wet, earthy forest of them, with a very witchy herbal-sweet scent on the wind. Overall I like it a lot. It'll be just the thing for autumn. And it might just work on a guy too, although it seems a little on the too-sweet side of the fence.

    Miskatonic University

This smells like one of my favorite things in the world -- a caramel frappuchino! It's a miracle I refrained from drinking the vial. o_o It's super caramelly sweet, and there's almost something salty underneath, like pretzels or popcorn. This reminds me more of a carnival than a university. It tones down over time, and the oakiness comes out, but I never really get the mental image I imagined from reading the description. It's too bad, since I was hoping to use this to enable a friend who would love the whole Irish coffee/old books combo. It's more like going to the coffee aisle at the supermarket and sniffing all the bins that have pictures of cake and candy on them. Probably a good scent to lift my mood, but there's nothing Lovecraftian about it. I'll use my imp when I'm craving caramel but don't have any.

    Ether

It's nice and light, like ozone and flower petals soaking in water. And although it's nowhere in the description, I also detect a bit of honeydew melon, or some other watery fruit. I'd call it a girlier version of Lightning (one of my favorite scents) but lacking the electric kick. It's the kind of scent I'd wear on a day indoors, because its lightness totally gets lost among the smells of the outside world. Not my favorite of the Steamworks blends, but it does call to mind the image of a mad scientist's terrarium, filled with oddly glowing flowers.

    The Obsidian Widow

This one appealed to me in its description because I like Pinot Noir, even though I generally dislike wine scents. Combined with rose, my arch-nemesis, I was having my doubts as I sniffed the imp. On my skin? Holy moly. The rose and wine are crazy-sexy when toned down a little by the patchoulli and sandalwood. It's extremely dark and smoky, and for some reason this type of scent always reminds me of vampires. I got a twinge of my usual rose-headache as I first put it on, but everything has been fine since then. As the myrrh and jasmine begin to come out, it becomes sort of coy and playful. I love scents that have such personality to them. As wonderful as it is, and as much as it convinced me that roses and wine can be my friends, I'm still not convinced I'll ever have an excuse to wear something like this. This is what you wear when you're getting ready to go seduce immortals. I just go to the library and stuff. o_o

    The East

Very light herbs, tea, and a touch of fruit. The florals must have been light, because I didn't notice them at all. Honestly I didn't pick out a lot of the specific notes while wearing this, it was just an air of something clean and delicious. It's the sort where I sniff my wrist and smell nothing, but later I get a random whiff of it anyway. Overall it's quietly pretty, probably good for days when I don't feel like wearing anything very bold.

    Aelopile

Cedar, citrus, and something smoky. It starts out a little too lemony, but warms into a perfect wooden yumminess. It's quiet but curious, and it's not particularly feminine or masculine. Something about it is so utterly steampunky to me, it makes me glad I decided to try it out! It's not the kind of thing I usually like to wear, but honestly I'm too enamored with it to give it away. It would be a perfect relaxing scent for sleeping, and provoking adventurous dreams.

    Swank

This is the freshest, most delicious pomegranate scent I can imagine. There's a little tart snap during the first hour, but it sweetens up pretty quickly. It stays strong for hours, and a little bit goes a long way. I don't get a martini scent per se, but there's something in there that's making it smell...well, swanky. Lime, perhaps? Yum. It may be too strong for people who aren't crazy about fruity scents. But on me this is 100% 5ml worthy!

    Machu Picchu

Mmmm, it's like a lush, wet jungle filled with all sorts of exotic fruits. I mainly get cantaloupe, with a little bit of pinkness that might be papaya or something. Perhaps there's a hint of ozone, since I definitely get a sense of altitude, just like Machu Picchu! It melds together so smoothly, bringing to mind a scene that's more deeply exotic than your usual "tropical" scents. Overall, fantastic! Perfect for exotic adventures, or pretending I'm having them.

    The Agony of Heartache

Oh wow, at first I get the blackberry like mad, with a little zing from the lemon and lime. At first it smells exactly like gummy bears and makes me hungry for sweets. I'm not getting any cat pee at all. As the patchoulli comes out, it calms the fruits down a lot and makes it more earthy and resiny. Still, this is by no means the scent of heartache for me. It's so bright and fruity! I think fruity notes often amp on me, which would explain why my description seems nothing like anyone else's. Pity this is discontinued, because it's one of my new favorites. I'll savor my imp!

    Hellfire

I really had to force myself to test this one out. In the bottle it smelled exactly like scotch, which to me is absolutely disgusting. But I try every scent I come across, so... To my great relief, the scotch scent calms down just seconds after touching my skin. Smokey incense and tobacco begin to come out, and the leather is sweet. I'm baffled that it suddenly became so rich and calming, but I guess I should have known that nothing ever smells like it does in the bottle! It's a decadent masculine scent that reminds me of Sherlock Holmes sitting in his study. Definitely too masculine and out-of-character for me -- I ended up washing it off after about a half hour, not really wanting my mom to smell scotch and tobacco on me. But I'm highly impressed at how well it transformed itself into something interesting! On a guy it would be fantastic.

    Krampus

I'd been turned off by the idea of leather in a scent, so I'm really glad I got the opportunity to try this. On me, the musk and wood comes out a lot, with the leather adding almost a sense of adventure to it. At first it was too masculine for my tastes, but the wood and linen started to make it much sweeter and lighter than I expected, almost like the inside of a cedar chest. Overall this combination of scents reminds me a lot of being at the Renassance Faire. This is the first scent I like that I think would also be great on a guy. It's unfortunate that it's LE, even though I'm unsure whether I'd buy more.

    O

At first I got a lot of the honey and musk, with something a little burnt in the background, almost like toasty marshmallows. It was getting more and more delicious as the vanilla came out, until... what? Honey and baby powder? I kept sniffing it desperately, thinking maybe that's just what it smells like when honey, musk, vanilla and amber combine, and my nose is just too amateur to distinguish it. But no, soon the honey disappeared too, and it was all powder. To my even greater dismay, I soon began to get an actual sour smell in its place, and hurried to wash it off. I really wanted to love O, but it just wasn't meant to be. I guess I'm just glad I didn't save it to test on a special day, like I'd originally intended.

    Lilith

A sinister rose musk, with sharp red wine drifting somewhere in the background. I have to say, rose and wine are two things that usually turn me off to a scent I'd otherwise like, but this time they've teamed up to form something dark, mysterious, and tasty. It brings up strong vampire imagery for me. This probably won't end up being my favorite scent, but it seems perfect for those times when I'm feeling a little devious.
