    Miss Addie

The next house, No. 55, is kept by Miss Addie Blashfield, the dashing brunette, who has eight or ten boarders, both blondes and brunettes. These are a pretty lot of girls, of pleasing and engaging manners. It is regarded as a first class house, very quiet and orderly and is visited by some of our first citizens. Red sandalwood, vanilla orchid, sweet clove, neroli, apple blossom, and a gentle hint of star anise. In the bottle I was concerned about how much apple blossom and neroli I was getting. Very fresh apple blossom and neroli. Not apple at all but the soft white blossoms. But I shouldn't have worried. Once on the skin it blooms. For the first few seconds it is still very fresh and flowers but as it settles the vanilla orchid comes in to warm it up along with creamy red sandalwood. The sweet clove must help round it out and warm it up as well but not in a way that it distinct, just depth and warmth. I was concerned about the star anise in this since it doesn't generally work well on me, but here it must just be adding to complexity since it is not distinguishable either but even less so than the sweet clove. Overall, a very sexy sophisticated perfume much like the story would suggest. A little goes a long way. Apply with care.

    Marshmallow Pumpkin

Marshmallow Pumpkins... there are a few scents that I keep due to the artistry exhibited in them. Death Cap is one due to the phenomenal representation of mushrooms. It is eerie. Graveyard Dirt is another since it is so very much like fresh loamy dirt with worms. And there are a few more. Most marshmallow scents are kind of a sweet sticky sort of smell, not this. This is MARSHMALLOWS!!!! These marshmallows are made with a few drops of spiced pumpkin syrup, are very light orange, and finely coated in that marshmallow powder so they don't get all stuck together. Yes, it is like sticking your head in a bag of these things and inhaling deeply. The powder is distinctly there. This is fabulous.

    Ü Mütter Museum

Very different from any BPAL I have ever tried. U reminds me strongly of a better (more complex and sophisticated) smelling Lush Butterball. The vanilla and balsam are similar to my nose. The balsam isn't piney at all, it is more fresh and green like in Snow White. The vanilla is unlike any other BPAL vanilla. Wild and fresh. There may be some leather lingering in the background initially, but it just serves to ground the scent. I am not detecting any dusty smells. I applied this 6 hours ago and it is still going strong.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

    This. Exactly.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

This is now beyond the scope of healthy curiosity. Please step back and examine yourself.

jayne, I enjoy fine things. Art, jewelery, food, wine, clothes, shoes, and yes, perfume. I have some very wonderful and unique perfumes by major houses, as well as BPAL. My love of unique fragrance began with Caron's Aimez Moi due to the different feel that it provided with the anise. I have searched for unique fragrances ever since. I love Chanel and Prada. I also love BPAL. While not every BPAL fragrance speaks to me, not every Caron, Chanel, Prada, or Bond does either. None the less, many BPAL are still on par with the fine perfume houses. Perhaps unrefined noses that have been damaged by years of sniffing overly alcohol based eau de parfumes, instead of real perfumes cannot identify the nuances to truly fine fragrance. Please be aware that prices also vary due to overhead operating costs that include, but are not limited to, advertising, facilities, endorsements, packaging, etc. Darling, give it a try. Perhaps they will speak to you, perhaps they won't. If you are looking for recommendations, as it seems you are now, please post a thread in the Recommendations forum that can be found here: http://www.bpal.org/index.php?showforum=10

    Story Time at Dark Delicacies

At first I can smell the lemon cookies with some oak in the background. As the lemon fades away the leather and incense warm it up along with the oak staying strong. On the dry down the ink shows itself just a tad. Overall, oaky, incensey, lemon cookies with a sniff of leather in the background. Just what I had hoped it would be.
  9. BONESHAKING ANTIQUE VELOCIPEDE A clacking, rickety concoction comprised of cucumber, purple sage, tonka bean, black coconut, redwood, and teak. In the bottle: Interesting. Something on first sniff reminds me of Antikytheria Mechanism. Something similar and yet different. Maybe it is the teak or tonka? I like teak and tonka. I can also get some cucumber and coconut sweetening it up. First on I get cucumber and the woods... then the coconut comes out with the tonka. On the drydown it melds together into a lovely and unusual scent. The purple sage never does surface.

    Countess Willie

In the bottle this is sweeter brighter and less chocolaty than I anticipated. Wet on spicy sexy plum musk with just a drop of hot ginger. No chocolate at all. Dry down this is really growing on me. On the dry down it warms up a bit while retaining the spicy sexy plum musk. This is a winner and I am so glad I took a chance on the bottle unsniffed. The Countess is addictive. I want her more every time I try her.

    Playing with Dangerous Toys v2

In the bottle I am surprised to smell bubblegum... and cake. Light sweet fresh moist vanilla cake. Unexpected. On it doesn't morph much. Still bubblegummy cake. But not like some of the other cake blends that the lab has done. Those usually go sadly stale once they hit my skin, but this stays light sweet and fresh. The bubblegummy part starts to fade after a bit leaving a sweet yummy light sweet fresh moist vanilla cake scent. Looking at the other reviews I don't get the strawberry or lemon that the others reviewers got. But I do get a feel for the marshmallow and cottoncandy. This is while the children are happily getting hopped up on sugary sweets and bubble gum while they are playing with the dangerous toys... before it all goes dreadfully wrong.

    Dreadful Lies

DREADFUL LIES Matilda told such Dreadful Lies, It made one Gasp and Stretch one's Eyes; Her Aunt, who, from her Earliest Youth, Had kept a Strict Regard for Truth, Attempted to Believe Matilda: The effort very nearly killed her, And would have done so, had not She Discovered this Infirmity. For once, towards the Close of Day, Matilda, growing tired of play, And finding she was left alone, Went tiptoe to the Telephone And summoned the Immediate Aid Of London's Noble Fire-Brigade. Within an hour the Gallant Band Were pouring in on every hand, From Putney, Hackney Downs, and Bow. With Courage high and Hearts a-glow, They galloped, roaring through the Town, "Matilda's House is Burning Down!" Inspired by British Cheers and Loud Proceeding from the Frenzied Crowd, They ran their ladders through a score Of windows on the Ball Room Floor; And took Peculiar Pains to Souse The Pictures up and down the House, Until Matilda's Aunt succeeded In showing them they were not needed; And even then she had to pay To get the Men to go away! It happened that a few Weeks later Her Aunt was off to the Theatre To see that Interesting Play The Second Mrs. Tanqueray. She had refused to take her Niece To hear this Entertaining Piece: A Deprivation Just and Wise To Punish her for Telling Lies. That Night a Fire did break out- You should have heard Matilda Shout! You should have heard her Scream and Bawl, And throw the window up and call To People passing in the Street- (The rapidly increasing Heat Encouraging her to obtain Their confidence)-but all in vain! For every time she shouted "Fire!" They only answered "Little Liar!" And therefore when her Aunt returned, Matilda, and the House, were Burned. A conflagration: amber, tagette, and cognac. In the bottle I don't really smell anything. First on I can pick up the amber and cognac. It is golden and warm but not powdery at all and the cognac isn't boozy. Perfection. It warms up a little more on the drydown. This is fantastic!!! Dreadful Lies is the loveliest warmest amber and cognac... I don't think I get any tagette. It is everything that I hoped it would be. This and L'Estate are my 2 favorite amber blends. Dreadful Lies is sitting by a roaring fire in a stone fireplace while sitting on a sheepskin rug snuggling with your significant other sipping a nice glass of your favorite drink for such activities.

    Bite Me

Well, we *are* doing a vampire update finally. Croquembouche with almond silk and a drizzle of caramel. Bite Me has a different honey note. Almost like a clover honey that is slightly flowery. Powdered sugar is sprinkled on top lightly. There is the a light fluffy pastry way down underneath it all warming it up. Not as overtly foody as I had feared. The almond is not very strong. It is a light toasted almond in the background. The clover like honey surprised me. Very nice!

    Suck It

Suck It is sweet dark cherry cordial brandy in the bottle, but the cherry fades quickly on the dry down leaving it... nice but difficult for me to put a finger on. However not OMG cherry or overly boozy.

    Boo

Boo is wonderful! It is spun sugar with just enough cream and cotton to make it warm and prevent it from becoming tooth achingly sweet. The cotton is way way far in the background. To me it a like Midway only better. Vastly better. Boo lacks the fried note or funnel cake note that Midway has. On me Boo also lasts much longer. So far 5 hours and going strong. This is what snuggly cozy spun sugar must smell like.
