Dainty Sulphur

Recommended Posts

Drifting low to the ground, this tiny, tough butterfly searches for nectar and mates in vacant lots and coastal flats.

Orange blossom and brimstone.

I love orange blossom and tend to hate ashy, soot-y, smoky fragrances. I'm really happy that this is about 90% orange blossom on me, and only 10% of a smoky scent that actually isn't that bad. Dainty Sulphur is mostly strong, beautiful orange blossom. Slightly waxy, super creamy, white floral with sweet, ripe orange. Very realistic and natural smelling, and has a tropical vibe to it, like being covered in a wreath of orange blossoms. The smokiness hides under the sweet orange and adds more of a dark, sexy growl than woodsmoke or ash. It reminds me of the way that black musk can sometimes have a smokiness to it. This is one of my favorites of this year's butterflies.

Orange blossom over some woodsy ashy background. This is mainly orange blossom, and as it dries, you get a whiff of ash on the background. Medium throw and wear length.

Similar to the above reviewers, I found that this was almost entirely orange blossom, with a subtle grey/ashy grittiness that grounds it underneath and makes it a little more earthy. I had pretty good throw and wear length, and it was a fairly consistent smell, with the orange blossom staying dominant from the bottle to the long term dry down. Out of the four butterflies I tried, this was fair and away a favorite, because while straightforward and mostly classic, it has just that perfect little twist of something quietly different to make it stand out. I definitely expect I'll use the whole decant and may eventually grab a bottle, although it isn't a 'I have to get this NOW' sort of appeal, more like it's a really good, day to day easy scent.

I am not getting any of the ash/smoke that others are talking about. All I get is orange blossom. This scent reminds me of soap in hotels. Not bad, but I think I will need to be more sparing in my application. This is pretty heady stuff.

Gorgeous fresh orange blossom, a whiff of the greenwood tree branch, and a touch of grounding smoke and ash.

It's not "smokey" for me at all, the ash just seems to round out the scent into a deeper beautiful thing than just a bright blossom note would be.

This is chic... and nostalgic all at once for me. Orange blossoms in the air in October.

Light to medium throw .... I got a bottle and love it.
